For TMNT 2012 Fanfic Writers, Can I Have Some Pointers on How to Portray The Characters as Close to Canon?

I’m storyboarding a long TMNT 2012 fic and I’m nervous that I won’t portray the characters accurately.

I need some pointers.

Shinigami Headcanon

Mine: Shini named herself.

I think Shini was orphaned due to tragedy at a young age and was homeless for years. Then, she was adopted by a group of mystics associated with the Foot. They asked for her name but Shini didn’t know since her family died at a time she didn’t remember her name. So, she decides to call herself Shinigami as some sort of coping mechanism.

2012 Karai & Her Foot Arc

Wouldn’t have been cool if there was an arc about Karai and her journey of becoming a leader and redeeming the Foot?

I would’ve loved to see that. Karai got really sidelined after S2 and it sucked. I liked her and wanted to see more. She could have learned how to be a leader from Leo, it would be fun brother/sister bonding. Don’t you think? 😁❤️

Can I also say that her new foot ninjas are crappy fighters? They either lose tremendously, don’t do anything, or run away. Shini is the only good one. The previous foot ninja may not have been amazing fighters, but at least they weren’t chickens. 😂

I wish that was a storyline in season 5 instead of the arcs we got(mostly Mutant Apocalypse, I don’t like that arc).  

Also, did Karai seem weaker in the later seasons?

Compared to the earlier seasons, her fighting skills are lackluster in S4 and 5. Maybe it’s because of the mutagen in her blood or she relies on her snake too much? I don’t know but something felt off when watching Karai fight.

She also kinda lost her edge. In the first two seasons, she was cunning, flirtatious, and pretty much a badass. Now, something is off. I can’t really describe it.

Leonardo Headcanon

Mine: One of Leo’s greatest wishes is to be a father.

I had a hard time picking 2003 or 2012 Leo for this headcanon, but a friend helped me decide.

So, what made me pick 2012 Leo over the 2003 version was just the vibes or hints the show gave that Leo had this fatherly nature. Plus, did you see him holding baby Karai and having tea time with that little girl? That is true dad power.

2003 Leo was also an option since I read a lot of fics that added the wish to be a father to his character. It actually works well with him.

I’ve got this idea because I’m in a meeting about learning the community and terms. I wanted to do this during Pride month, but forgot.

KARAI EXSITS YALL

I don’t post a lot of her because I haven’t drawn her in about a year but I have plans she’s pretty plot important and she’s kind of like the 8th major character

I just really like drawing her hair

might do something a little gay with her and April idk

Her story is definitely a traumatic one

Newest chapter coming this weekend after I finish all my assignments arghhhh for now I’ll show you the old old first draft of Karai’s design when I was first working on anatomy and her, I’ll show her full design once we get up to her in the fic

She’s a bit destroyed lmao, I also did not have the tools I have currently so it looks awful but it’s her first draft she’s allowed to be like that 😭😭

The Aprilnardo drawing is inspired by @guide_to_the_galaxy‘s fic we should stick together. The other two drawings are Rasey(love that quote) and the very rare Verai(Venus x Karai: both my designs for them).

Karai is the kind of person who drinks black coffee every day but secretly favorites French vanilla or some other sweet wholesome drink like that

It’s Karai’s time to shine!

(I don’t have her mutant snake form made yet but I will try to get around to it)

I tried to intertwine snake like details into her design as a kind of foreshadowing to her mutation(via her chest plate and oni mask⬇️)

Her white hair streaks due to Karais mutation(not gray hair). They grow out a little more in her post arc design because A, at this point she has some what mastered the ability to change back and forth on command and B, she no longer has the need to hide her mutant side. In her post arc she is also leader of a new foot(very similar to 2012 Karai). She no longer dones her armor because like Mustang Sally her mutated skin is almost impenetrable.

If you’ve been reading my fanfic The Difference Between the Appearance, you know that her weapons are her twin wakizashi. A symbol of a warriors physical strength, social status, loyalty, discipline, honor, and,most importantly, the samurai way of life. It is found to be most significant in its connection to the samurai code of honor bashido. Where when faced with an act of dishonor, the wakizashi is used to preform seppuko- a ritual suicide. Ironically Karai would never commit such an act unlike the one who doned her the blades to prevent her from stepping out of line. The Shredder aka her father. As you can see I choose this weapon because it not only represents many aspects of her character but also the growth and hardships of said character.

I CANNOT emphasize enough on the fact that there must be more Karai in the third season of Rottmnt(which could happen during Tottmnt which means we could potentially have two new appearances of Karai at once)

Best Karai!!!!!!!

Karai is one of my favorite characters of all time in the tmnt franchise. When they did get her character right and didn’t botch it up(bayverse I’m looking at you 😒) it became one of my favorite parts of that versions storyline.

And decisiveness strikes again as it is a tie

Speaking of Karai I think I might have found a few hints at what she may look like in the mm/Tottmnt version through some foot clan concept art for mutant mayhem

HAPPY LEAP YEAR DAY!!!

As tribute to the special day I have used Raph and Donnie to redraw them as Jennika and Venus in Tottmnt. I can only hope that I can look back in 4 years from now satisfied that at least one of these amazing characters officially made it into the show.

As a bonus I’ll also lay down a story line for Jennika for Tottmnt that I think would be great. If you want to see my storyline for Venus click this.

Jennika started out as a human girl. Her parents abandoned her on the streets of New York as a child. Eventually when she was on the brink of starvation, Jennika was picked up and taken in by the foot clan. There she would grow up in the same squadron as Karai. The two became super close and the greatest and strongest in their group. The shredder decided to “adopt” Jennika making her Karais second in command. The two love each other and will protect each other at the cost of their own life and more. Eventually the two would be called on by the Shredder to do investigation on the turtles. Though she was hesitant, Jennika let Karai go to spy as regular teen alone while she was left to lead their squad. When Jennika was left on her own without Karai to correct her she started to get nosy and suspicious about what the her father was really trying to do. Things only got worse she started to cover for Karai and the two started to lean towards the turtles side. The night after Karai left the foot, Jennika found out what the Shredders true plans were but got caught. She was held as incentive for Karai to finish her job and turn the turtles in. Instead of turning them in, Karai teamed up with the boys to save Jennika. But it was a trap. A huge fight broke out in one of the old TCRI factories where they had been trying to make super soldier serum. In the end Jennika stepped in the way of a deadly blow from the Shredder saving her sisters life at the cost of her own. Without thinking, Karai used the unfinished serum and some of Raph’s blood after Donnie found out that their blood was the only thing TCRI was missing and he offered it. This turned Jennika into a turtle like the boys and made the girls team up to defeat the Shredder permanently. Jennika would become close friends with the turtles and their friends especially Raph and Casey. She is very hot tempered and aggressive but also wise, independent, protective, and strong especially when it came to dealing with trauma and ptsd after not exactly having the greatest childhood(being abandoned, raised by the Shredder, and almost dying would obviously do that to a person). I kind of see her and Karais relationship as like a Shinigami and Karai thing but with less shipping and more sister love than anything.

An AU where Splinter got to save Miwa and raised her together with the turtles

Miwa wanted to grown her hair but since she looks a lot like her mother, she didn't let her hair grown so Splinter wouldn't be sad when he looked at her.

Miwa can speak turtles, chirping with her brothers and speak behind someone's back with chirping.

Splinter is quite sad he can't send Miwa to school or let her have normal human friends. Miwa told him it's fine but deep down she does want to experience what other girls have.

Leo is more laid back and free to do what he wants since he's not the leader but he keeps tailing Miwa around cause he admires her greatly and wants to help her everytime.

Miwa has terrifying temper that usually seen in eldest sister so even though Raph often bicker with her a lot, he tends to shrink away when Miwa snaps sharply at him. If Miwa gets angry, she gets super quiet and this usually makes her brothers super nervous in every actions they do until her anger fades away.

Miwa still let Mikey sleeps in her bed if he gets nightmare, the others don't know about this. She has a soft spot for the youngest.

I hate Leorai romantic ship with passion, in any version. Screw that incest, she's better as their big sister. Mikey even calls Karai sister multiple time and refers him and the others as her brothers. TMNT 2012 is great, but they really need to work out with their romance writing.
