Wanna know why I love avatar so much? Cuss the avatar really was the friends we made along the way. This isn’t some big deep dive into the morals of the show so be warned, it’s as surface deep as you can get but…
Being able to bend all 4 elements isn’t what the avatar is. The bending is just a physical representation of bringing those 4 clashing cultures together. Without Aang there is no reason for zuko, toph, katara or sokka to be friends. But because of him they are. They as representatives of their nations work with the last air bender (AND THE AVATAR!) to bring peace.
Because one man, one culture, cannot be the defining force in a universe. It’s just not true to reality. Sure some people helped more than others (the earth army was larger than the water tribes) but it was still a group effort. Everyone has to put effort in to keep their world at peace because every nation/ element plays a role in sustaining their life.
Honestly would love to write a fic about the avatar spirit dying/ disconnecting with humanity after aang gets stuck in the ice to further explore this idea but …. Im lazy.
Toph could be extremely accurate with her sniping due to her earth-bending abilities but she isn’t able to see things that aren’t touching the ground, like projectiles. And Snake is more than smart enough to exploit her weaknesses. Plus pin point accuracy vs big f-you explosion. So as much as I love Toph, Snake wins this one.
IN ADDITION-
Her abilities take time to get information to her, even if by only fractions of seconds. But the fraction of a second is the difference between hitting someone and not hitting them. So she’s not winning this one, sorry everyone.

Okej, pytanie: jakim cudem Toph-Ślepa-Bandytka-Buntowniczka-Walić-Autorytet została policjantem? Like. Wydaje mi się, że możnaby to dobrze pokazać i zrobić tak, żeby miało sens. Ale po co? Gaang już miał perfekcyjną postać do założenia policji.
Jeśli policja w Republic City musiała być oparta na magii metalu, można było to zrobić bez udziału Toph. W końcu miała dzieci tak? Dlaczego Lin nie mogła wdać się w Toph i wprowadzić magię metalu, wymyśloną przez Toph, do policji, autorytetu, z którym Toph by się raczej najlepiej nie dogadywała, jako formę buntu?
Toph mogła mieć masę innych osiągnięć. Ona miała swoją akademię. Świetnie nadawałaby się na kogoś kto rozpowszechnił wykorzystywanie magii jako rozrywki i sportu. Suki i Wojowniczki Kyoshi dużo lepiej nadają się na siły porządkowe.

Found this few months old wip in the dungeons and I decided to revive her lol. These are some sketches inspired by some even older sketches of this au I did back in high school! It's just a silly couple of doodles that were just for fun! A lot of these designs were inspired by @chiptrillino and their atla art! Maybe in the future, I'll also give the Fire Nation girls and other characters some designs too!

just some wing au thoughts
zuko's wings are red-tailed cockatoo's but he (and his family) calls them cuckoo wings.
aang's wings are swan-sparrow wings. you know, graceful migrating birds who live in cliffs.
toph's wings are from a burrowing owl and they are too small for her to fly with but sturdy enough to help dig.
katara's wings are ptarmigan-owl (snowy owl specifically) wings. Adapted to the cold.
sokka's wings are a heron-fisher's (king fisher) wings. a hunter's wings.
azula's are hummingbird-shrike's. self explanatory i think, she may or may not dye them and they were the only thing her father disapproved of until she mastered lightning and blue was fashionable again.
iroh's are a paradise bird's.

My friends and I were discussing where the one f-bomb should be in PG-13 shows and films (kinda wild because you get many more than one in the UK's mostly equivalent 12 rating), and I brought up ATLA, and we quickly came to the conclusion that:
1) Toph definitely would be the one to swear
2) Toph off screen was swearing constantly
3) if she did it on screen once it would not be for something meaningful, she'd stub a toe or whatever her equivalent it is
Toph would've killed Ozai. She wouldn't have hesitated.

Zuko, knowing full well it was Katara: Who could have done this?
Second Nobleman: Firelord, several of our war machines were crushed mysteriously by falling rocks overnight.
Zuko, deadpan, knowing it was Toph: Whatever shall we do?
Third Nobleman: And there was an uprising at one of the schools. Apparently one of the students, a young colonial wearing his school uniform belt as a headband, started a "rewrite the history books" campaign.
Zuko: Young people these days.
Fourth Nobleman: Also someone in a spirit mask is robbing the rich at swordpoint while reciting lines from theater.
Zuko: That one was me.
Ya’ know how Katara (Better then Pakku) can keep up with Aang’s and Sokka’s antics? Look at Wang Fire, and when Aang was the old dude I like to believe that she can also fully lie to Toph due to being able to be completely calm in such situations, and a great hi jinks partner, but chooses not to because Katara would feel guilty for being able to do so. Tl:Dr Katara can lie just as good as Azula and get by Toph’s seismic sense.

The idea of when the GAang is grown up and they all have little mini-me's running around, they still hang out a lot so their kids are all friends.
Like imagine all of them running around the Fire Nation royal palace giggling as they play tag and none of them are scared of getting in trouble for hiding in closets or behind tapestries or running circles around their parents as they try to get away from whoever's it, or them having snow ball fights that always end with them under a giant pipe of furs while in the South Pole.
I saw this tiktok of a little boy hiding under his mothers dress to get away from his dad or something, and I can't stop thinking of Izumi running to Fire Lord Zuko and hiding under his robes just before Kya (who just got tagged) runs into the room and asks Zuko if he's seen Izumi and he just shrugs and says "I think she went that way" as his daughter holds back giggles.
Also, Tenzin is the kid that cried when he got out first in a game.
