Description:
Bullet is waiting for him when he gets back, sitting on the porch and tapping his fingers along his cane. The little girl stands beside him, holding up her dress in her hands and pulling apart the layers of fat against her stomach rolls, crying as yellow and white ooze leaks out of the cuts. Jason looks away from her, finding the guilt and anger at leaving her unavenged fester and grows the longer he trains with Bullet and does nothing with his ability and what it’s granted him.
He will kill this man. His creature behind him cries a little harder, turning its ugly and young face towards him as if knowing he’s done nothing to help her.

There are rumors around the Battle Subway. There always have been. Speculations of Ingo and Emmet’s perfect synchronization, that the regional champion has been a frequent face, how the Subway’s caverns were built by an ancient kingdom. They were a bit of fun to pass between passengers awaiting a battle.
That was before the third Subway Master arrived.
Some say he had never seen a train before he suddenly appeared. Others argue the way he glares at the cars is a simple dislike for the constant motion. The contradictions satisfy no one. All agree, though, that the way he appeared from thin air one day, already matching the twins’ every train analogy, already having earned the full support of their two-car train, was uncanny.
There have been whispers that he bewitched the Subway Masters somehow. He certainly had worked their way into their clockwork dynamic, how else could he have done it? Though those theories fade slowly away. His team is omnipresent beside him - a minccino on his shoulder sometimes dethroned by a rufflet, and a fraxure by his side - and none of them can learn hypnosis. The passengers have checked.
Some say that they saw him as a passenger months before his first appearance. He talked of trains as if they were steel-types waiting to consume them all. He spoke of cellphones as if he couldn’t fathom their existence. He rambled on and on to his minccino about a world he did not understand. No one knew if it was true, but most believed it.
The subway caverns were built by an ancient kingdom, it was said. One that stood for truth and ideals, the very same concepts the subway master blathered on about. One that could explain the odd traditions they’ve seen aboard the train that belong to no known region. One that could have stood firm with someone who could command respect as he did. There was no way to prove it, but stranger things happen underground than a haunting.
There is a blackout on the train one day. A passenger has gone to battle. When they return, they are distraught. They ramble on about how they had insulted Emmet in the heat of battle, how Ingo came to his defense, and how the third appeared at the doorway once the brothers departed for the breaker room. They say they did not understand what language he was speaking. They say, in his quiet rage, his eyes glowed red like a yamask in the night.
There is silence, then sparse, nervous laughter that dies quickly. Another rumor to be spread aboard. And yet, in the days that follow, no one mentions the tale again.
The rumors of the Battle Subway are spoken in hushed tones. They strain to be heard over the heat of battle, the enthusiasm of the conductors, and the clipped demands of their third beyond the holding carts. They sometimes delve into the oddities of the twins, but more often speculate on the newest addition. Whispers say that he is a ghost from another time. Most will scoff, perhaps voice the absurdity of the notion, but all notice when he wanders through their car with that faraway look in his eye. All respect him when he blinks, glares, and snaps calmly at their scrutiny before departing. All want someone to follow him as he disappears into the shadows of the next car. No one does.
Here is where I dump or information on the idea but I had to make these realllyyy fast sketches before I lost the idea. Fire and the coal they keep is sacred to them becasue it mirrors the Sun. The coal is especially used in festivals during Winter and Spring but they are also used during special ceremonies.
How the coal is treated also acts as a characterizer of each Clan. Wind Clan is more communal so apprentices and warriors can carry/place the coal. It is kept in a tunnel in the center of the clearing wall. For this reason, they all have general knowledge on how to create and fix masks. Rabbits feet may be used to decorate them or dried flowers.
In contrast, River Clan is more private and prioritizes keeping the coal sacred. This resembles how they interact with Star Clan believing that each cat has a more personal relationship with Star Clan, fesivals are more quiet and focused on calming and centering oneself. The coal is stored in an unmarked area which is moved if any other clan finds it on accident or on purpose. Medicine cats exclusively can touch or place the coal. The mask is equally sacred and can only be properly mended by a medicine cat although leaders can fill in if necessary. The making of a mask is taught to medicine apprentices.
Thunder Clan keeps the coal in the leaders den becasue they believe much of Star Clan's power is funneled through the leader. Leaders are expected to move and place coal, however, medicine cats make the masks. The coal is kept in the leaders den in a nook in the rock. Thunder Clan is known to have loud crackling bon fires.
Shadow Clan is more communal in terms of coal handling as well, however, masks are extremely sacred and can only be made/mended by medic cats. A charred and hollowed tree near the entrance is where they keep the coal. Clan specific festivals are completely exclusive and secretive unlike Wind Clan which is known to invite friendly members of other clans if they feel inclined. Bon fires are not common but they often cremate bodies on a small island that is surrounded by bog. Cremation is also common in River Clan.
Star Clan must bless a mask before it is used, this contributes to how long lasting they often are (the oldest being from Shadow Clan going back 10 generations). The coal, although it mirrors the Sun, is contrasted by the blue light glow of the moon stone so the fire of coal represents life while the moonstone represents soul and spirit.
In many ways, the coal makes the Clans somewhat dependent on eachother because if coal somehow goes out there is an obligation for any Clan asked to share. If, for whatever reason, this does not happen there is a small eternal fire in a cavern said to be located far beneath the moonstone, however, no one has had to travel here for a couple generations. The knowledge of this cavern is held by medicine cats.
Theyre talking cats so I don't feel too bad making a crazy ass fire society head canon
