A very messy "comic" about Donnie, Casey, and their potentially unhealthy codependency on each other- 🖤💜

I'm so sorry for the way this looks, but this week and next week are going to be pretty hectic for me, and I didn't know when I would get to post again-! So I just wanted to finish something before the week began-! 😭👍

I'll definitely do more (And objectively better-) art of this concept in the future, but I really really enjoy the concept of Donnie starting out as the very unhealthily invested one out of the two of them and that behavior kind of imprinting on Casey in a way? Or even if it wasn't imprinting, it's possible that Casey started to mirror these behaviors because of his own insecurities and issues (i.e. Struggling with parental neglect and being abandoned frequently-), not to mention the fact that Donnie made him feel safe to do so- You know what I mean? Which in turn would cause Donnie to begin having this self-reflection or epiphany about their relationship and his role to play in this current dynamic (With the help of Raph, since I feel like he would very bluntly point this out- But out of love, of course-),, Thus leading Donnie to break up with Casey. 😔

But I also like the concept of this breakup, because of the contrasting perspectives both of them have with it. From Donnie's perspective, he's trying to do better and do right by Casey. Donnie now knows / fully understands that enabling this kind of relationship between them was bad, and he's trying to rectify that mistake by giving them both the space and time that they need to heal from any damage that was caused. But from Casey's perspective, he feels like he's being punished for finally having the courage to be vulnerable and let his walls down- For giving in to the security that Donnie provided in this relationship,, it's really sad, but it's also really interesting to think about to me because I hate joy- /j LMAO

Imagine if Donnie had given April like a super personal photo in that music box that he made for her in Season 3 (EP 2 "A Foot Too Big"-),, Maybe a photo of April and her Mother from when she was a child or something equally creepy given how personal it is / something April didn't go out of her way to share with Donnie?? Like where would he have even gotten that picture in the first place- 💀 Lmao

Also Leo / Mikey / and Raph (especially) all heavily disapprove of this gift, just like April does- I just didn't draw them,, 😔👍

I was having fun while doing the 2012 Jonatello art, but then some stupid shit happened (IRL) and that put me in a mood, which is why the 2012 April centric drawings are what they are- Lmao || But I like talking about those things anyway, so it's still a win for me-

A small comic revolving around the concept of Casey being toxic in his own way- 🖤💜

I don't know what unearthly force compelled me to do this comic out of nowhere, but I did- LMAO || I wish I could've set this situation up better (Like showing Donnie behaving in similar ways he did with April toward Casey instead-) and I was going to do one more panel to concluded this better (Where the Brothers + April don't find either of them at Casey's apartment and it turns out the left together in the Shellraiser or something like that-) but I'm super tired,, 😔👍

I really wanted Casey's actions (His lack of response to his texts / missed calls, the way he hovers by the door just listening, and lastly his failed attempt at hiding his smile at the end-) to reflect (what I feel would be) his toxicity in this relationship dynamic with Donnie- How he craves the attention, at the expense of Donnie's well being and the worry of his friends. How addicting it would be for him to be the center of someone's universe and knowing it - Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if he would do whatever he needed to do to ensure Donnie's attention stayed on him, you know? 👀✨

Just something I like to think about sometimes ! (This also balances things out in my opinion, since I dislike the concept of Donnie being "the problem" alone- You know?) || Also I deliberately tried to make Donnie's dialogue in this comic as creepy (Or just uncomfortable / awkward-) as possible, especially in the last panel- 👍✨

He has to crush him,, 😔 / This feels like a realistic response from Donnie canonically speaking though (Raph probably encouraged this outcome too, tbh-). LMAO 💜🖤
