It happened spontaneously, but I love AU. So… Avatar Hiccup. Hiccup considered himself an ordinary person before meeting Toothless. (Dragons can be equated to spirits, i mean relationships between people and them). Then he discovered his talent as an airbender and Toothless became his teacher. Later, other talents were discovered, which made it clear that Hiccup was an avatar.

Astrid became his waterbender teacher. Snotlout was an adept of firebender, but he sincerely did not understand how to teach, because he himself used magic on a subconscious level. Fishlegs is an earthbender, but he did not go beyond the amateur level and could not become a teacher. The twins are always on their own wave. Ruffnut is a master in airbending and can perform techniques with clouds of gas, while Tuffnut is not a master, but is ready to set fire to the gas with his sparks at any moment. The twins always come in a set.

Brothers Grimborn! Lord of Fire Viggo. The aesthetics of blue flame and lightning were created for him. So I couldn't resist. The hottest flame and deadly techniques of lightningbending made him the most terrible opponent for the young avatar, but in the future, he will become the teacher of fire magic for Hiccup. I endowed Riker with explosion magic, as for me, it suits him perfectly. An explosive mixture of rage and bloodlust.

Berserkers! Remembering Viggo's words about how the berserkers in ancient times lured the Skrills with metal, I thought about a tribe practicing metalbending. Dagur discovered his talent for earth magic much later, including metal. I like to think that Dagur could be a threat to the avatar even as an ordinary person, relying on his ingenuity and physical strength. Heather is a master of earth and metal magic, she could well become Hiccup's teacher in this matter.

Here’s a wholesome painting I did of two baby dragons cuddling. 🫶💗 Honestly so proud of this one, I feel like my eyes have been blessed by my own painting. I don’t even care if I sound cocky, that’s how much I love it 💀.

So you know I created a mixture of a Storm Cutter and a Night Fury, but I haven't thought of a name for this cross breed, so pick a name (p.s. not a name for the dragon. We have a name for the dragon. We need the name of the breed)

Zephyr Hofferson-Haddock

Zephyr is Hiccup's oldest child and only daughter, At the moment this photo was taken, she is 19 years old. Her biological mother died when she was 10, and her full brother, Nuffink, was 5. (In the Canon, they are 2-3 years apart, but this age gap between the two makes my Au understandable) Her father is in a relationship with Jackson Overland. She enjoys Jack, but she isn't as close to him as her brother is cause she remembers her mother. She doesn't feel like Jack is replacing her mother, as Hiccup always reminds her and Nuffink about Astrid, her mother.

At the moment, she is the chief's advisor's assistant. She wears her mother's hairband and her hairstyle in race to the edge.

Httyd au in which Hiccup gets to be the feral dragon boy he was destined to be.

Basically, what if the underwater scene in the first movie when Stoick frees Toothless from his chains during the fight with Red death didn't happen? (Im talking about that scene before Stoick tells Hiccup that he's proud to call him his son)

I think there was some form of understanding between Toothless and Stoick in that scene. When Stoick pulled Hiccup out the water and broke Toothless free he showed Toothless, for the first time, that he wasn't the enemy here. Not anymore.

What if that had never happened?

What if Toothless managed to break the chains, all by himself, fuelled by his panic when he saw Hiccup drowning? What if Hiccup managed to cook up a last minute plan to free him, using all those sharp bits of metal and debri to do the job quicker, before he lost breath?

In both cases the fight would probably go like how it did in canon, minus the heartfelt moment Hiccup shared with Stoick before the battle.

Hiccup would still get knocked off by the Red Death's tail, and Toothless would undoubtedly go after him, having to bite his leg off in process, etc etc.

But,,,,when Stoick finally finds them after the battle, worried out of his mind, thoughts consumed by the fact that the last thing Hiccup might've heard from him was him declaring that he wasn't his son, he does not encounter a trusting night fury. Toothless does not unfurl his wings to show him his son.

Instead, he glimpses his son under it's wings as it shifts, standing with no little difficulty, with Hiccup's limp form between it's forelegs as it growls and hisses at him.

Toothless absolutely mauls anyone daring to approach them, and it eventually has to be subdued by the entire gang + their dragons. It isn't an easy feat, despite Toothless also being injured and drained by the battle.

In the end, they manage to get Hiccup the medical care he needs, the dragons ferry the vikings back to Berk, and it's all a very slow process, especially with the feral protective Night Fury stubbornly guarding Hiccup. Astrid is the only one able to approach them.

And that trend continues,,,even long after Hiccup has recovered. Toothless makes every effort to drag him away from people, and on the rare occasion he isn't successful, he just spends the whole time threatening the poor sods foolish enough to come too close.

As a result, Hiccup spends much of his time away from people, except for Astrid and the gang and most of his time is spent around dragons, learning about them and just being Hiccup being feral.

He goes of flights further and further away from Berk, trips lasting longer and longer, and Stoick fears one day he might never come back. He talks to the beasts in their own language, with hisses and clicks and chirps, the draconic sounds bleeding into his Norse. The Night Fury follows him like his own shadow, protecting him far better than Stoick ever could.

He rues the day he disowned his son.

For it seemed as if the Night Fury knew what he had done, and took Hiccup as it's own hatchling.

Oh and I put this in a previous post, but this little interaction is actually the first time I drew a concept from the au

She's coming to see him at night, and gets concerned when she sees him asleep and without his prosthetic (nor did she understand it was a prosthetic, that's probably pretty bizarre to a dragon outside of Berk's little flock) and doesn't realize that no, he didn't get hurt since you last saw him :(

So then I imagine Toothless is kinda like, "Oh! Oh no, I'm fine, see! I just need a little help to fly higher!" and I managed to make myself cry over dragon romance while making this I'm done for.

So I've got this httyd au idea that I've been sitting on for awhile now, I guess it could be considered as a rewrite or something but I don't see it that way. Anyway here's some ideas for my Colourful Nights AU, I'm still working out the factors so it's not the best.

There's going to be more of my thoughts under the cut (aka the usual Hauntley rambling)

First and foremost, the idea to give Grimmel a night fury comes from this post on reddit

Before seeing this I had 100% planned to just... Not have Grimmel exist in the Colourful Nights au? I kind of hate his whole- thing?

I had the idea of Grimmel seeing what Drago did and deciding that where the man failed was not in trying to control dragons, but instead that he didn't try to control powerful dragons specifically. I know that Toothless is supposed to be an endling, but I think the idea of Grimmel slowly building his own dragon army but with dragons he considers powerful and having a few night furies is cool so. Maybe he kept a couple of night furies back during the mass fury hunts, because having them bend to his will makes him feel powerful? Or maybe he only had one. I'm not sure if I'll even keep it but I like the idea.

For my light fury design (I call her Clearscales), I liked the idea of her being a night fury with some sort of genetic mutation, and I'm not sure if I want to keep the disappearing act or not? I like it but I don't know if it would still work if I gave her darker scales, but also! Would I be able to call her Clearscales still? :( That's a very important part, because I've gotten attached to the name.

I also had an idea that relates back to a fact about the Dramillion titan in rtte, it has the ability to camouflage itself like a changewing because they're distantly related, implying that titans have access to traits the normal members of their species don't have.

So what if Toothless' lightning isn't an inherent night fury skill, but instead a trait of night fury titans? Maybe it's due to a possible distant relation with skrills? I always liked the idea that the "lightning" part of "Offspring of lightning and death" was because their blasts look somewhat like a the result of a lightning strike (at least in the 1st movie), but maybe it's also because a titan was witnessed doing this, and because the second and third movies imply that after the first transformation, the titans don't look any different from the normal members, people just assumed that it was something they could all do, and ontop of everything else, it led to a mass panic and hunt?

I'm all over the place and am in no way coherent, but that's my dumb little idea, if you're reading this I can't believe you actually read what I wrote, or scrolled down through it at least. Thank you :)

Jinetes de berk (hiccstrid roles swap)

Llendo a mi au de roles swap

Mucho no cambia, ecepto que astrid e hipo cambian de lugares, talvez uno que otro capítulo o chiste se vería afectado

Por ejemplo, en el capítulo del retrato, sería más el como hipo es presionado a ser como estoico, lo que lo lleva a hacer la única cosa que su padre no pudo, la final con ayuda de astrid lo logra

Astrid seria la que toma la misión de reunir los 2 mundos, mildew talvez sería más crítico con astrid , al no ser la hija del jefe

En el capítulo de "como escoger a tu dragon ", posiblemente no sería solo estoico ,talvez varios vikingos adultos aún no entienden del todo a los dragones, entre ellos los padres de astrid, lo que la llevaría a buscar dragones para los guerreros de antaño ,podríamos ver a los padres del resto del grupo

En "locura gemela ", talvez insinuaciones de dagur hacia astrid, aunque talvez todo siga parecido, hipo tratando de distraerte a dagur, mientras astrid esconde a los dragones, habría una conversación seria entre brutilda y astrid

Me gusta pensar que habría un capítulo sentrado en gothi y astrid, talvez astrid buscándole un drago, o una vista al pasado de gothi, mientras se debe adaptar a los cambios, siento que se volvería la anti mildew

La aventura de patán e hipo no cambia mucho

El festival del deshielo sigue, pero cambiando a astrid , de por sí en la serie original me sorprende que no sea astrid la ganadora, cuando es más hábil que patán, siendo que aquí cambian de roles,talvez una confesión de hipo de como deja ganar a patan, con astrid haciéndolo al final por un amigo

Y esta mi capítulo favorito de todos los tiempos,el reporte de heather, a qui hay de 2, que heather siga siendo la misma, o la siguiente opción y mi favorita, donde a si como es un paralelo de hip (al menos a si la veo yo), lo sigua siendo, y sea más una guerrera, que una niña peligrosamente inteligente

Seria lindo ver su relación con astrid, e hipo poniéndose celoso de la nueva chica, talvez brutilda también, aunque creo que el plan de suplantar a heather seguiría , me gusta el drag la verdad, pero es probable que siga siendo astrid la que se disfraze, con hiccup aún con los nervios de punta con este plan, talvez hasta culpando heather si algo malo llega a pasar

Astrid igual se las arregla para salir, con una nueva amiga, salvando a un dragón de los marginados , y recordándole a hiccup que quien es su mejor amigo...exacto, brutilda...na , es broma

Hiccstrid Roles swap

Amo el roles swap, a si que veamos como seria nuestro hiccstrid en este au

A diferencia de hiccup, astrid la tendría más difícil, siendo de un clan deshonrado, más sus intentos fallidos de recobrarlo, solo la harían más paria

Me gusta pensar que no sería chimuelo su dragón, o tormenta, si no la furia luminosa, que le diremos luna,porque es lindo , y astrid si sabe poner nombres

Vi un fanfiction donde en ves de ser Herrera, como hiccup, sería aprendiz de curandera, con goti, amo a gothi, y curaria a luna , como concecuencia me gusta pensar que cambiaría la prótesis de hiccup, por una cicatriz o quemadura, talvez en la cara o el brazo

Igualmente entraría a la fuerza al torneo , ya que sus padres se niegan a perder a una hija, como perdieron a fin, o puede que no se una, por la misma razón, y solo esta allí viendo a quien curar

Esta la relación con hiccup, donde el pasa de verla como una damisela en apuros, con muy mala suerte, a una mujer capaz , el la apoya igualmente, a si que vamos con el adorables y husbando hiccup

En esta su creo que sería más fuerte físicamente, y astrid sería más débil físicamente, no me lo imagino con un hacha como astrid, es más un tipo de espadas

Me gusta pensar que su relación con astrid es una de sobreprotección, donde la quiere, pero la subestima a cada rato, donde la protege de una posible muerte, pero no hace nada por el bullyng,o el mal autoestima de astrid , ya sea por no prestar atención del todo, o porque no los ve como problemas tan grandes , en un mundo donde puedes amanecer como el desayuno de un dragón

Es el heredero perfecto, a si que su relación con estoico no es tan mala, talvez seguirla siendo unido a gobber, pero talvez no sea su aprendiz, no sabría decir si es o no un inventor, pero me gusta la idea de que si, pero conservando su mala racha con los inventos , su dragón sería tormenta, pero no me sorprendería que le pusiera otro nombre "piquitos "talvez

Volviendo a astrid, sería interesante que su relación mostrara paralelismos con los cuentos de hadas, hiccup el caballero, astrid como la damisela en desgracia, y luna como el dragon temible

Solo para que el caballero se de cuenta que, astrid no es una damisela en apuros, es capaz de hacer grandes cosas, y el dragón no es tan malo, solo está asustado , y el caballero, tiene una mejor forma de amar que solo proteger con semblante frío

Valka está viva y coleando, siendo que es más pequeña que la mayoría de vikingos adultos, puede que sea una "hipo" también, a si que siendo que a qui astrid es la debilucha, podrían tener una buena relación, donde la relación de astrid e hiccup le recuerdo a la de ella y estoico, incluso que valka fue una "hipo", podría justificar el nombre de hiccup

Si vamos con el resto del equipo , patan seguiría a su primo por admiración, y trataría de imprecinarlo siempre, además de ser el bullyng de astrid, aunque no me sorprendería que tuviera uno que otro comentario sexista

Talvez luego se invierte el asunto, con patán tratando de impresionar a astrid, y molestando a hipo

Patapez sería amigable con astrid, pero no se juntaria mucho con ella

Los gemelos no cambian mucho, solo que me gustaría que brutalida tuviera más desarrollo con astrid , una relación de amistad seria linda

El final es el mismo,la niña marginada se vuelve una heroína

HTTYD 2 inspired au: Zuko finds his Mother living amongst the sun warriors

I love this!

Zuko actually did run into Ursa when he and Aang went to the Sun Warrior ruins. She was in full Sun Warrior grab and mask and is just as mysterious as Hiccup's mom in the movie.

Ursa leads them through the ruins and traps until they meet the rest of the tribe and dragons. Zuko can't shake the feeling he knew the mysterious person from somewhere. Not until he returned during The Search and Ursa revealed herself to him now that the war was over.

Immortal hiccup au pt 3/4

Chapter 3

Note: I forgot to explain if hiccup had his leg still, the answer is no and it will not be able to heal if he doesn’t want people getting suspicious of him just having his leg back. You know because only toothless knows about his age.

Skip to the start of race to the edge. Hiccup and Toothless have gotten very close, Toothless has learnt more about Hiccup and his past. They both gained feelings for each other.

Race to the edge did happen in this but it was less challenging then cannon for hiccup and toothless, but hiccup acted like it was challenging as to not raise suspicion in the tribe.

We now go to hiccup and toothless talking in hiccups hut. “So toothless bud what should the plan be?” Hiccup questioned, toothless was not really sure what the next plan of action was due to the dragon hunter fiasco being over and done with.

“I honestly have no idea Hic, we could just fly to a secluded area and enjoy the day. Since it’s one of the rare perfectly sunny days.” Toothless replied, also just wanting to get away from Berk for the day.

“Oh, that sounds like a great idea thanks Bud”

Hearing this come from hiccups mouth made toothless giddy, he wanted to confess his feelings for his best friend but was to scared to mess up.

Luck may just be on his side find out next chapter.

Chapter 4

The duo ended up finding an island to have their mini vacation on, far enough from Berk to have a sense of peace. Today was the day toothless settled on to tell hiccup how he felt about him.

They gathered fish, berries and spices for lunch. Hiccup being oblivious to what was going to be asked just munched happily on his portion of lunch enjoying it. After they finished eating it was time for toothless to get the courage to ask hiccup to be his mate.

But Hiccup beat Toothless to the punch, “hey toothless I wanted to tell you something important, I’ve wanted to ask if we could be mates!” Hiccup said causing Toothless to freeze and nearly lose his balance in the process.

They stayed there for about 5 minutes until Toothless finally processed what Hiccup just told him. “Wait really??” Toothless said still not fully believing what he heard.

Hiccup nodded shyly waiting for a reply from Toothless that came in the form of toothless tackling hiccup to the ground and licking him a lot. “Yes I will be your mate!” He said in a whispered sweet voice.

Immortal Hiccup au pt 1 and 2

Hiccup was born about 1000 years before the events of his original birth. Having a power to change his age and appearance to suit what is better in his opinion.

He has been around dragons for most of his time on this earth, they had much more time to be on earth then humans did. Hiccup learnt how to understand most dragons within his first 50 years on earth since they had seen him as something not so human which is fair in his opinion. He learnt that dragons could live up to Thor knows how long due to hearing that a dragon has been alive since what the dragons called the giant lizard era. Though sadly that dragon is not around anymore due to humans, a shame really he would of loved to know more about the giant lizard era. (Dragons in this au are cousins to what would later become dinosaurs and todays mammals and reptiles)

Hiccup managed to be on berk during the time his cannon mother was supposed to give birth in the form of a 5 year old due to him preferring this form. Anyways Valka gave birth to a girl that looks like Stoick.

5 years have passed and hiccup finds Berk fascinating because of everything that has happened to the villagers and the village. So he made the woods his home.

Hiccup decided to go into the village one day since he was bored and didn’t want to explore the forest since he knows it all to well now. He walked into the village in his 5 year old form getting a few stares from people until he bumps into Stoick, now to Stoick Hiccup looks a lot like valka but with his own eye colour. Being that this was really weird to the chief he asked hiccup who’s child he was. Hiccup not having parents for over 900+ years had said he had none, Stoick told hiccup to follow him and hiccup followed without questions due to still being bored.

Stoick brought Hiccup to his house to let Valka see him. Valka was shocked seeing a boy who looked her daughters age that looked nearly the same as her but with freckles and Stoicks eyes.

After the shock died down Valka asked if hiccup had parents, but hiccup gave her the same answer as he had given Stoick before.

Skip 10 years to cannon events Hiccup is a haddock now and Valka left when she was carried off by a raid 9 years prior.

I will leave this chapter here as to have abit more suspense for chapter two :)

Chapter 2

The night was the one he would shoot Toothless down on. Being nearly the same as cannon but the difference being Hiccup could understand Toothless. Skip to when hiccup finds Toothless in the cove after the first meet.

“A new dragon type” Hiccup whispered to himself slightly to loud gaining the dragons attention. He had decided to give Toothless the fish he brought for him. Still being giddy about a new dragon type hiccup watches toothless for the day after the fish thing in the original movie.

Skip to right after the fight with the red death, due to not needing to change much about anything else for the plot.

They are sitting in hiccups room talking about things when hiccup asks toothless about basic information like what toothlesses age is and if he has a mate since it’s completely slipped hiccups mind to ask before.

“I’m not a very seasoned night fury age wise I guess, I mean I’m only something like 1100 years old” Toothless explained to hiccup with a smile.

“So what about you how old are you Hiccup?”

Not expecting anything substantial for a human he was suprized.

“Funny thing Toothless i myself am about 1000 years old due to being immortal” Suprize fading Toothless is now hellbent on knowing more about his human.

So this is the end of the chapter. I’m thinking of making this full on Toothcup instead of just having them as best friends. Plus I enjoy the ship.

Helloooooo I think your Sons of Berk AU is pretty cool! I wanted to ask though, how does Heather fit into all this (if she exists at all)? Is she still Dagur's (and of course in this AU, Hiccup's) sister? Or do they have no such relation?

Thank you!! I’m glad you’ve asked because I actually have an answer to this! Heather does exist in this au! She sort of takes the place of cannon!dagur. She is still the daughter of Osvald the Agreeable and is lined up to be the next Berserker chief. (So she isn’t Dagur’s or Hiccup’s sister in this au)

In this au she does in fact claim the title Heather the Unhinged. She definitely isn’t as deranged as cannon!dagur is, but she is very clever and somewhat manipulative (definitely knows how to get her way). I figure that could lead to some interesting hijinx in the future

I’m not sure exactly if shes going to be a “good guy” in this au, probably more of an antagonist. But i’m not sure yet!

Part 2

Hiccup is pretty much the same as cannon!hiccup, but probably a bit more sarcastic (if at all possible), mostly as a defense mechanism to deal with added teasing from Dagur. He is incredibly accident prone. Hiccup is definitely pushed a lot more towards fighting dragons(more so by Dagur), but still has terrible luck with it. However, Stoick slightly less rigid about dragon fighting since he also has Dagur to kind of carry that. But, Hiccup still tries his best to keep up with his older brother (to no avail)

Stoick is a lot more stressed all the time because in this AU he has not one, but TWO troublemaking sons. Dagur makes the trouble, and Hiccup just seems to find trouble. Mans is actively graying. In addition to keeping his two danger-magnet-sons alive, he’s also constantly under pressure and scrutiny from the village. Lots of members of the council wonder how in the world Dagur is going to lead them as their future chief and no one knows what to do about Hiccup. There’s a lot of rumors about Stoick just being a bad father since both his sons are so “odd”. Plus the dragon attacks don’t really help with stress. So Stoick is a little more testy. In addition, he’s actually a bit more protective of Hiccup since he’s the youngest and smallest and one of last pieces he has left of his wife. Stoick and Dagur butt heads since they both have their own way of doing things and Hiccup either stays out of it or adds fuel to the fire with his sarcastic quips.

ANYWAYS, for those who read this whole thing, thank you for listening to me yap

Part 1

I don’t know if I’ve been cooking or not. But I’m gonna pretend I’ve been cooking so hear me out. Okay so like y’know how Dagur calls Hiccup his brother? What if they actually were. What if Dagur was actually Stoick’s firstborn son? I mean they both have ginger hair and green eyes so…

In this AU, Dagur is Stoick’s firstborn son and Hiccup is his youngest son. Dagur is still deranged but slightly less so (but he was present when Cloudjumper snatched Valka and carried her away so that kinda messed him up as a three(ish) year old so yk still a bit deranged). The AU still follows the main premise of cannon!httyd1 but like I’m mostly thinking of PRE-httyd1 right now.

Dagur is probably one of Berk’s best sailors (still the king of armadas if you will). But because of his somewhat unhinged behavior still isn’t exactly welcomed or at all encouraged by the people of Berk, and he generally has a not so great reputation for being…you guessed it, deranged. Pretty much a danger magnet since he causes a lot of problems. And needless to say, this doesn’t reflect well on Stoick. He still loves to torment Hiccup and will absolutely drag him into his troublemaking and put him in needless danger (even accidentally) however he will also drag him out of trouble as well.
