Now having gotten somewhat used to the void in my chest I can finally drag all my thoughts about the epilogue into one pile

I know it may be getting old for some of you guys already, but I haven't seen some things being discussed anywhere

My problem with the ending is actually with the audience, I literally have almost no issues with how the epilogue is written, all the minor ones I have don't come from the epilogue but the previous plot building which wasn't perfect by all means.

TWO PARTS YOU KNOW

Please reread 430. You did? Now let's compare.

a) Can you see what the chapter is focused on? 430 is a lot more shallow, it focuses on facts and tries to contain all the changes at once and looks VERY rushed. Hori didn't have much time with his schedule, so of course he tried to fit all at once and nothing at all. This chapter is more about the system and facts, trying to answer the more crucial questions fans may have.

Chapter 430 has ~20 pages

431 has almost 40 (!)

b) 431 finally has time to look at the characters up close. Why there is so much about Uraraka? Well, because in the pt. 1 she's got one panel and a couple of words. That's why half the chapter is about her now, because she and Izuku are the male and female leads of the manga.

c) Why didn't we have more of Katsuki? Well, this character isn't very known for huge inner monologues and all this sappy stuff. We can get enough from character interaction and subtle cues, as always. Despite being a big asshole and a major loudmouth (I say this with all my love and adoration guys), Katsuki is a really stoic character. And this kind of character doesn't need a whole 5 pages writing down their motivation and inner thought process. I like this. This man remains the most conscious person here and has the greatest development in the series (and Shoto, sure, these two are on the whole other level compared to others in terms of writing)

Izuku and Ochako are more open to us, and it shows in the chapter's way of storytelling

And Shoto is still the most relatable dude here, me too, Shoto, me too...

2. Izuku is NOT shutting Katsuki out of his life. He basically invited him to TEACH TOGETHER just like Katsuki invited him to BE HEROES TOGETHER.

To me it shows clearly that these two just found their two paths that don't align fully. Izuku has been teaching for years after his quirk was gone. Sure, he still adores hero job, but he already has stability and purpose and it's IMPORTANT to him. He's only been back to heroics for a month after all. Izuku has matured significantly, and I respect that about his character even if it's not perfectly written.

"Izuku wouldn't ever decline the offer". Do I need to remind you that it's whole 8 years after their school days?

Imagine yourself 16, dreaming to start a rock band with your best friend. You're both so passionate about it, you think music is the most beautiful thing in your life and you'll never be over it.

But you get your fingers injured severely, and you can't play your guitar anymore. You're devastated, but your knowledge is valuable and you get a whole teaching degree and go to work in a musical college. It feels very fulfilling to you. But your friend is very talented, he continues and pushes forward and actually becomes a worldwide known rock star! You're so glad for him!

But the time passes, and your friend, now famous and loaded, states – you're getting most expensive treatment and surgery, and we – I and our old band bros – pay for this.

And your fingers, they work properly again. You had a whole life of 8 years, and now there are so many possibilities open. You know your friend wants you to join his band and travel and rock the stage together, he offers it to you without expecting much, because he knows you have your life settled already, you can't change that with a flick of a wrist. He's an understanding friend, even if his passion for your old shared dream burns brighter still. You can join his band for a concert or two once in a while, it's a good reprieve from your everyday life. But as much as you love music, your priorities shifted significantly since your youth – and now teaching is as important and precious to you.

You even invite your friend to give a lesson of two in the college where you work. It's a way for you two still remain in each other's lives even if your paths are a bit different now. Your connection is built on compromise and genuine support from both sides, and it's fantastic!

I know the analogy isn't perfect, but it works I suppose.

3. About Himiko and Ochako. It's a painful one, but

No, Himiko wasn't haunting Ochako for the whole 8 years, it's probably a time to time occasion. It's not because Ochako is tired, it's because she can't let go of her guilt and at particularly taxing times it manifests in these visions.

Dreams are still a big mystery for science, but what we know is that they're almost always NOT about what you see, but about the hidden layers of meaning.

And of course we know this is not REAL Himiko, it's just Ochako's mind.

So I don't understand all the weeping around Himiko now being DEAD FOR REAL OH. This is Ochako's mind, not a literal Toga's spirit no matter how much Horikoshi wants his symbolisms to be literal in this story. It's still open to interpretation if Toga is dead or notnot (she's coping).

Tsuyu is so Tsuyu 😭😭😭

Right, my girl, this dummy really thought there's something wrong with her health while she just needed to see a psychologist...

I remind you that psychotherapy is severely underdeveloped in Japan. There's still a lot of stigma around mental health there, so please keep this mentality in your mind while reading manga. "They could just go and see a therapist." No, they couldn't. Their culture doesn't work like this, and societal norms aren't a joke in Japan, they're literally overwhelming.

And about how this chapter "ruined" Himiko. To me, it didn't.

"Himiko was written for Ochako". Exactly. Ochako's main negative character trait was inability to open up about her true feelings, putting up a cheerful front and all that.

Himiko was created to get her to understand what suppressing emotions does to people. Unfortunately, it seems she didn't catch this message fully until Himiko told her with plain words and freaking pushed her forward.

And isn't it a torture for Himiko seeing Ochako beating herself over her death, putting up a brave front to avoid her inner struggle which is COMPLETELY OPPOSITE to what Himiko tried to convey?

And Himiko loved both Izuku and Ochako, so of course she wants them to be special for each other and open up to each other too.

Because Himiko LOVES love in any form (pun intended), and wishes happiness for her special people, and sees how they have been holding back from living how they wanted.

Do you really think Himiko would prefer a depressed Ochako having hallucinations of her over an Ochako who's opening up and rebuilding connections with the man she yearned to reach out to for so long?

And of course I'm not about the ship. This manga was never about the ships. We've got a clue that Izuku barely had any contact with his former classmates since graduation in 430. This chapter is created to gives us hope that it'll change, starting with Uraraka because Uraraka was the one to reach out to him first in the beginning, and now it's his turn.

I imagine that it's just a start of the reconnection arc. Izuku can do this with the rest of his classmates too later, and knowing his tendency to butt into others' business he certainly will.

(Yeah, it's an actually good idea for a new tome for you Hori, not Boruto 2.0, never Boruto 2.0 please...)

She can't participate in every single case, but having a free day has her wandering the streets to clear her thoughts a bit.

And there she stands.

This girl, she doesn't look older than 5 years, a pair of uncanny yellow eyes peering up with a smile of blood-stained teeth. Her fingers are so small, stained with mud and blood too.

It looks so tired and weak, Ochako's heart clenches. She stops and tries to pet it once. It's fur is a bit coarse from the filth and dust of the streets, but it accepts her pets ao eagerly. But then it bites her, and runs away, clearly freaked out. Ochako isn't mad, but...

... can cats actually feel guilty?

The cat comes to seat near her house sometimes, leaves some birds it hunts as trophies. Ochako nearly gags the first time, but praises her furry friend anyway. It's just instincts, how can she blame it?

The kitty only lets Ochako feed her if her human lets her gnaw on her fingers and lap up the welling blood afterwards.

The girl who brought so much pain and who survived so much pain, but even after her death she's the one to bring light into the life of the only girl who understood her for real

Himiko living and dying for love is everything I ever needed from this manga

BNHA SPOILERS!

okay, I'm in class now but I need to talk about this. I just saw this official extra chapter and I want to point out a few things.

Toga is dead.

In this scene, it seems that Uraraka was nervous about talking to Deku after so long and Toga appears and gives her a push. Encouraging her to talk to him.

Behind Toga we can see the tree and birds that appeared when she was between life and death. She's also wearing the same school uniform

This shows that she is dead, but her "soul" appeared to help/support Ochako (or something like that idk)

Honestly, I didn't want it to be like this but I'm happy for Uraraka. I think Toga is happy for her too. Uraraka fought, pursued her dreams, and grew. All of this because of Toga, who gave her every last drop of blood...Let's not be sad about this tgck nation, let's continue standing strong and rooting for our girl!!!!

But like he doesn't excessively drinks or something like that,just doing it from time to time. And from there on they kinda just get along really well. Izuku sighed softly, staring down at the sweet, golden brown of the whiskey in his glass. He wasn’t usually a drinker, but tonight he just needed to let loose a bit.

His mind had started to wander a bit, and he found himself thinking back to his own high school days, questioning if he was happy with his life or if he was just accepting that this was his life now, whether he liked it or not.

Izuku enjoyed being a teacher, yes, but he always found himself alone- more often than he would’ve liked to admit. He knew it was just the effect of all of his friends getting older and naturally growing apart, but it just..sucked.

He still had Katsuki, the two of them regularly talking and sometimes grabbing lunch. There was also Aizawa and his other coworkers.

You sat down next to Izuku, a heavy sigh leaving your lips. Today shr been chaotic with the groups of students you handled. You glanced over, feeling eyes on you.

Your eyes met green ones, and you paused.

“Midoriya?” You asked with wide eyes, surprised to see someone as warm and intelligent as Izuku in the bar of all places- and was that whiskey?

Izuku’s own, slightly drunk expression was shocked, gawking at you “Y/n?? What are you doing here?” It wasn’t like the two of you weren’t supposed to drink or anything, you just didn’t expect to see each other in the bar of all places outside of UA.

You smiled a bit and rested your elbow on the bar, the shock wearing off as you remembered- you were both adults, no reason to get bent outta shape over it. “Came to get a drink, unwind a little” you shrugged.

Izuku nodded and smiled a little, resting his own chin in his palm while swirling the whiskey in his glass. “Same here” he said with a soft laugh, his reflective thoughts from earlier pushed to the back burner of his tipsy mind. “Just wanted to relax after dealing with those troublesome teenagers”

You grinned and chuckled a little, nodding in agreement “ain’t that the truth”. You said before turning to the bar tender, ordering a simple brandy.

Izuku raised a brow at your drink choice, smiling a little. He was a little more loose-lipped, thanks to already being a few drinks in “brandy? You like fruity alcohol?” He asked, smiling a bit.

You smirked a bit and angled your head to the side “so what if I do? Am I not allowed to have different tastes than you, Midoriya?” You asked, your tone light and playful, definitely not exactly professional, since you didn’t have to maintain that boundary now that you were off the clock. You were just two people now, out at the bar.

Izuku laughed a bit and gave you that sweet, boyish smile that made a bit of heat crawl up your collar “that’s not what I’m saying Y/n” he smiled warmly at you, his eyes a bit glassy from the alcohol “also. Izuku’s fine, we’re not at work, so you can just call me Izuku.”

You hummed softly, smiling a little. He wanted to be closer with you. It was obvious by the expression on his face and the way his cheeks turned red as he offered his given name to you.

“Oh, sure thing, Izuku.” You teased, assign that extra emphasis on his name. You got your drink and sipped it, smiling at the dopey grin on his face “someone’s pleased with himself”

Izuku simply laughed at your words, taking a sip of his, almost empty, whiskey. He couldn’t deny your words, he was pleased with the new level of intimacy between the two of you. He'd been wanting to get to know you better, for a while, actually.

You were a bit older than Izuku, and you'd been working at UA for a few years before Izuku had earned a job there, and he admired the way you worked, the way you oriented your classes and how you carried yourself; confident, self-assured, and sexy-

"What can I say?" Izuku asked with a shrug of his shoulders, smiling a little, feeling less stiff and pressured now that you were in a public setting. "I'm allowed to be pleased with myself when I get a bit closer with someone as gorgeous as yourself" He hadn't meant to come off as forward as he did, but he had a few drinks in him.

You blushed a little, preening under the compliment directed at you "Oh? You think I'm gorgeous?" you asked, your tone soft, playful, with flirty undertones and a bit of teasing; it was lighthearted, and the two of you were just messing around.

Izuku blushed and shyly smiled, rubbing the back of his neck. "ah..I..did not mean to say that out loud" he muttered before laughing a little.

You blinked, before cracking a grin, with the way he was acting playful, yet still a bit shy and bashful made your heart race, and you knew you were in for a good night.

And boy were you right.

Several drinks in, and the two of you were ready to leave the bar. You two had been playfully flirting and conversing with huge, stupid smirks on your faces, feeling like giddy teenagers as you grabbed his hand.

You had called a taxi, since you were the more sober one of the two, which wasnt saying much.

Somehow, you and Izuku made it to your apartment, the tension between the two of you growing to a climax. The two of you stumbled into your apartment, Izuku drunkenly babbling to you "Y/n..a-are you...let-letting me s- hic stay? Please let me stay..I w-wan' to be c- hic close..t-to you"

You smiled a bit and chuckled "Y-yeah? you wanna stay?" you taunted, grinning mischievously at your coworker and friend. Izuku took this as you being unconvinced. What he did next would be what set off the two of you for the night;

Izuku grabbed onto your shirt, heavily leaning on you for support with his heavily lidded eyes and tousled hair, his cheeks red and breaths shaky "please..Y/n..i-ill..be such hic a good boy..please..please.."

Your eyes widened and your mouth went dry.

Now. How could you say no to a face that cute, especially when he was asking so politely?

(And in the worst possible way as he did with Tomura in the previous chapters)

The Identity of Deku's Dad

Has anybody else been so hyped after reading the latest chapters of MHA (418-422) because of the hints that the identity of Deku's father will be revealed soon?

In chapter 422, The U.S. president is shown, stating that all American heroes are to come to Japan, so perhaps Deku's father might be on that list of people arriving to help out.

I know there is still the possibility of the reveal being Dad for One, which is an interesting theory in my opinion, but the other chance that it might be an individual who works with heroes or is one of them also seems very intriguing.

It could also be the president himself, given how he is always in the shadows, but I honestly feel there is a slim chance for that to be true.

I can't be certain how Horikoshi will put the puzzle pieces of who Izuku's father is together, but I feel the president panels might be a piece of the puzzle somehow. His face is in the shadows...

...but again so was AFO's face for a long time.

I still feel really strongly about the DFO theory. On one hand I do see how people might be displeased by it, because AFO does insert himself in a lot of characters lives and influences them from the background, but precisely because of that I find him a very interesting and fleshed out character. So desperate for attention and love, even when he has it he doesn't know how to respond to it. He is also quite a charming character, which I feel you would have to be to impress the lovely Inko Midoriya. She is just too amazing, I also feel that he would be drawn to her as well because of that. Or perhaps because she bears resemblance to a certain Shimura? But again, Inko is very different to Nana, as in, she appears much softer as a character than Nana does, and I feel AFO would crave that from a person given that he wasn't taken care of and had to help his brother out and grew up in a very feral state and an incredibly hostile environment for anybody, let alone a child. Even though he does end up using people, I do think that that is because of his defense mechanism and constant living on survival mode affecting him.

AFO is also someone who doesn't want people to know the real him, his weaknesses and inner thoughts, his human side. The memories he does share with Deku and Tomura are only to traumatize them and break them up; in short: they are carefully curated.

If DFO does come into play, I feel that Tomura/Tenko will have a hand in the reveal. Perhaps helping or saving Izuku from within the vestige world? Maybe he will be able to help by seeing Izuku's memories and altering them like Deku did for him, because in the case that does end up happening, Deku will be the one needing a helping hand in coping with the reveal, and who better than the boy who that man was a father figure to as well. And in the end Deku and Tomura could also together "defeat" AFO by seeing his memories and saving the defenseless child he once was.

This is probably overthinking, but I wanted to share my thoughts with you guys. I love trying to guess what will happen and still being surprised by Horikoshi's amazing execution each time. I would love to read what you guys have to say on the topic.

The fact that the Todoroki family storyline is a tragedy.

The fact that the manga ends with every single one of the Todoroki children remaining irreversibly damaged.

The fact that sometimes hurt is just hurt and there isn't a higher reason for it.

The fact that despite taking different approches, none of the Todoroki children are judged by the narritive for their choices in moving forward and finding their own peace.

The fact that Horikoshi didnt set out to write a story of justice in his superhero comic, but instead wrote a realistic take on how abuse survivors actually get treated by the world we live in.
