:Although she comes off as an exited air head she is quite smart and vary respectful, a vary Ochako Uraraka to Tohru Honda

: She has a vary Ochako Uraraka/Tohru Honda personality meaning She’s vary sweet and kind-hearted, open-minded, gentle and optimistic girl, hardworking and positive, She’s a warm, cute, lively individual who thinks about everything positively, though she is objective enough to see flaws and virtues. She is generally empathetic and friendly to those she meets, and gets very excited when meeting new people, and she will try to help or defend anyone who is kind to her or needs assistance. Haru is very good at reading people, 

She’s very bubbly and is kind of an airhead sometimes. She can be incredibly blunt without being aware of it, Haru’s reactions tend to be exaggerated, she’ll often get excited or amused bursting into laughter at times, or raising her voice, which she tries to suppress, ninja discipline and all 

She’s vary passionate and can take on an extremely determined, focused, serious, and somewhat intimidating attitude when the situation demands and requires it. She can also be quite sassy and sarcastic at times. Despite her airheded and over the top-ness(?) she’s Vary respectful of other people and their opinions. She’s also a lot smarter than people think (There’s way too much there)

:Her family runs a bakery/restaurant, and is close to the Clan leader(s), in fact they've Catered for some big events(&/or certain festivals?)

:However she only became friends with Espio when they where 13/14 :the restaurant is one of the best in the clans a lot of people would describe it as a home cooked meal, they make a lot from breakfast, lunch, dinner, Sweets and pastries :Haru well help out in it and enjoys baking the most

: Haru actually taught Espio how to bake, (he enjoyed it)

:her and Espio met when they where young but never really became friends, Haru was just to much for Him at the time : One time she convinced Espio to go sneaking around with her to investigate some suspicious activity that ended up being right :their parents didn’t know weather to be disappointed or proud :This is essentially what began their real friendship, 

(although Espio has mixed feelings on the event that caused it)

:She was trained in combat much like most in the clan, and she was more skilled and was moved to Etsio's classes when she was young (14)

: her headpiece was actually a gift from Espio 

: she eather has a lot of friends, or not many because of how energetic she is, similar to her uncle

: she loves spring and all of the cherry blossoms, she especially loves the three day cherry blossoms festival (which has another festival a few weeks before it, the ‘festival of peace’ it’s to celebrate the peace treaty of the ‘four’ clans)

:he’s basically that one guy who never got married and is to old for kids but wanted/wants both so he loves to take care of his best friends kids (:he’s That uncle)

:he sees Espio as a son/nephew, (and Espio sees him as an uncle) 

:he had one mission that took him away for 5 years :it was to make sure everything went well around the Dragon-Kingdom and that the peace was a actually kept and that nothing bad was happening anymore 

:once he got back from his long mission he taught Espio and a few other kids Ninjutsu, both separate and together

:he’s vary patient with his students, and loves little kids

:He trained Espio form 5 to 13

:He was his most skilled student and was sad when Espio left his class 2 years before he was supposed to, but he was proud of him nonetheless 

: Him and Etsio were best friends, they even considered eachother to be brothers

:Valdez was the more playful one always making jokes and messing around (generally considerd odd amongst the clan), while Etsio was calm but still playful as well 

:he’s actually leased trained then Etsio 

:Haru is his niece, (he was vary excited to learn she and Espio where dating) :he’s not that close with his siblings but is close with her (he really is That uncle. .)

:he loves Ella and treats her like his own daughter, he even jokes about taking her as his own, to which Etsio finds to be vary funny and jokes back that he’ll beat him up

:he may or may not have have a ‘thing’ for one of his teammates. . . . . 

:he’s horn was cracked in I fight when he was younger, around 15, it slowly started getting bigger and bigger turning into a missing chunk and eventually it’all brake off completely

so these are for a AU type thing I’m doing, it’s kinda a royal family type thing, I hope it’s not to hard to read my handwriting I spent hours re-doing it multiple time

💜Elena: she’s the Lord/Empress of the Shinobi Clan and mother of Espio. : she’s vary straightforward and quite sensible when making decisions for her clan. however she does have a soft spot every once in a while, especially for her son. : she rarely ever looses her cool she’s always calm and collected

: Elena loves her people and being able to lead them, even if she spends most of her time on diplomatic work revolving around it. :she also loves spending time with her family even more.

: she much like her husband tries not to use favoritism towards him in certain situations, sometimes coming off as harsh, but she always shows she loves him at the end of the day : her grate grandma was the ruler when the Clan wars started, it ended when Elena was 23/24. : she started ruling when she was 18, and spent most if not all of her time on the Clan War, but she did manage to find time to marry Etsio. : 6 years of her ruling was during the Clan War, and it’s been mostly at peace since then with a few disagreements here and there but nothing to brake any treaty’s :the year the war ended Ellena and Etsio decided to have a baby. (:she will send Ninjas out to gather information on the other clans they typically go unnoticed, and report back with various information :it’s safe to say if things went bad with the four clans again theirs would be ready, not to mention none of the other clans know where their located)

(:along with being the leader she was also a highly trained Ninja, Or Jonin which means ‘High ranking Ninja’) LIKES: serving her people, peace and quiet, her son. DIS-LIKES: war, fighting, being away from her kingdom. FAVORITE FOOD: jasmine tea. 💙Etsio: he’s Espios father and the most skilled Ninja in their ranks, he’s a teacher/trainer, he teaches various Ninja skills from weapons, sneaking/camouflage, fighting, etc, most of his students are 15 to 18, sometimes their well be a few that are younger, but he does have one of the most difficult classes.

:Espio is one of his many students, he tries not to give him any special treatment (and usually doesn’t) let it be known he loves his son vary much but he’s normally a lot more harsh on him then his other students : he’s vary strict but he does care about his students, although he’s a serious man he can ba quite playful and mischievous at times, messing with and joking around with people he’s close with and his students. :Him and Valdez are best friends they see each other as brothers even. They’d trained and grew up together. :Etsio was somewhat jealous of how His son favored Valdez over him :He was a Jonin guard and protected Ellena when he was 15, they got to know each other and eventually got together in secret until she took the throne and got married a year later when they where 19. Not long after the Clan wars ended they had their First child And only son Espio when they were 24, (they had their daughter at 37) LIKES: being a Ninja, learning, reading. DIS-LIKES: Arrogance, uncared for weapons. FAVORITE FOOD: Udon. AGE: 39/40 (he’s half a year older then Ellena)

Espio: Son of Ellena and Etsio, and also the ‘Son’ of the Shinobi Clan, he left the clan when he was 15. :he was already in complicated classes for his Ninja training but he exceeded the others so much that he had to be moved up to his fathers class, (which he was vary proud of). :The classes he was in prior was Valdez’s whos basically like a uncle to him

:he’s always been calm and dedicated to learning, from ninja skills to different languages, and anything he’d find interesting really. :he’d spend hours reading all kinds of books, his parents and teacher found him many times asleep with a book

: horribly awkward in social situations, he can easily get embarrassed/flustered in these situation not knowing what to say or do, sometimes he’ll even go as fare as to go invisible so know can see him blush :he was always the more quite kid only talking with people he was close with, like his family or Valdez

:Espio doesn’t like physical contact, Especially when it’s sudden like Hugs, hands on shoulders etc, if it’s someone he likes/or is close to wich he’s mostly fine with

: Moma’s boy. . . . He’s always been close to her then his dad :his dad on the other hand he started to see more as a Sensai then a dad :he loves his dad he just can’t figure out how to show it : he’s actually closer with Valdez then him. :he’ll actually talk a lot around his mom

There’s two more characters Valdez and Haru, Valdez was from the Archi comics and was already mentioned a few times wall Haru is Espios ‘best friend’ she’s also his girlfriend when their older, I have much more for them, should I do more on those two?

Some of this is just the plots for certain One-Shots for this AU others (manly Espios) where just random thing I threw in

I had more to say but I can’t remember right now. . . . . eh I’ll post Valdez and Haru soon, I just finished the drawings for them in like to days meanwhile this one took 3/4 or more it’s been sitting in drafts for a week or two as well (I got sick when I started it so).

(update I changed some words in here for Japanese titles based on my recent research, I hope I used everything right)

It is extremely important for people to understand how their chosen media works. There are tons and tons and TONS of people who slave away for what are seemingly simple projects. Dozens of animators for just one pilot, tons of people with headaches all in the writers' room trying to figure out how to tackle continuity issues, a plethora of geniuses debugging for hours, several sleep deprived musicians determined to find the exact wrong pitch that would make the scene come together.

If you want to try and wrap your head around this, go listen to the Gravity Falls behind the scenes podcast. Even if you're not a huge fan of the show, watch one episode, and then Alex Hirsch's explanations for the scenes in it. I listened to it because I was curious about the writing, and I fell down a rabbit hole much deeper than I thought. I could make a bingo card of all the times he talked about someone else bringing it home and making his dreams come true.

"I was worried about this scene, but producer ____ figured it out."

"If it weren't for the music ____ composed this sequence would've dragged"

"if it weren't for my friend ___ telling me to rewrite that scene, this episode wouldn't exist"

"if it weren't for these brilliant storyboards by ___"

"if it weren't for ____'s costume designs"

"if it weren't for my friend being masochistically willing to stay up all night with me, this show would suck"

I have a huge amount of respect for every piece of inspired media that was worked on by actual humans, because there's more work put in than you could possibly imagine. It's unfair to blame any success or failure in a franchise on one person. Everyone deserves credit for the good and bad they did for something, and with something with as much heart and soul as Sonic, there's clearly much more good being done.

Help me out here: Why is there so much Ian Flynn hate going around lately? I thought everyone loved that he was contributing to the games. Now suddenly they aren't. I guess that's par for the course for this series but I don't get it. He isn't perfect but I like what he's done. Am I a weirdo?

Ian Flynn has always had a lot of fans, but any creator putting their work out there is going to have detractors as well. That's just the nature of being an artist. To some extent, it's no big deal. He's not a perfect writer. Nobody is! I consider myself a fan of his work, but I've criticized plenty of individual writing decisions from him on here.

But Ian doesn't just have critics. He has his own obsessive hatedom. And the specific nature of Ian's hatedom is... interesting.

A decade ago, Ian was only the guy writing for Archie Sonic, meaning any debates over his work were quarantined within that tiny niche of the larger Sonic fandom. Only people who kept up with the comics month to month had any real reason to have an opinion on the guy, which means we're talking about merely thousands of fans as opposed to millions.

Within that group, he had some haters. You had the people who were mad about story changes made during his run, particularly things like ancillary characters getting killed off (although over the years we've learned that most of those were editorial mandates from Mike Pellerito). You had the people mad that Ian didn't push their favorite ship, with feuding SonAmy and Sonally fans claiming that he was CLEARLY biased towards one or the other. You had the people who just really, really liked one of the previous writers way more - usually Penders, as hard as that may be to believe today. That sort of thing. Pretty normal comic fandom type stuff. Again, it comes with the territory.

Unfortunately, many of those haters only got worse over time, morphing into reactionaries who constantly try to incite Comicsgate type culture war bullshit.

There are people still mad at Ian for making Sally bi and pairing her with Nicole instead of Sonic in the later Archie comics. There have been elaborate MS Paint red string conspiracy boards explaining how people like Ian and Jon Gray have apparently been destroying the franchise from the inside for years by Making Sonic Woke. (Jon gets dragged into this because people are still mad about him drawing The Slap 20 years later. Yes, really!!) There was an unhinged change.org petition trying to get Ian fired, specifically from people who were mad that the Freedom Fighters aren't in the IDW comics. There was even a very sad little fan campaign from these people trying to get Sega to move the Sonic comic license away from IDW and over to Udon, because they thought Udon would bring Sally and Bunnie back and also make them sexy again. There's a lot of this.

(Unfortunately, Penders has also exacerbated this by gossiping about Ian on Twitter and giving these fans ammo, but that's a whole 'nother discussion.)

The thing is, for years, people who only played the games or watched the cartoons had no reason to pay attention to any of this. Now, though, Ian isn't just writing for some weird spinoff comics that only the super nerds read. Now he's writing comics that are canon to the games, and ALSO some of the games themselves, and ALSO consulting on other tie-in media like Sonic Prime, and ALSO writing the official Sonic encyclopedia, and ALSO serving as part of the new Sonic Lore Team at Sega. And on top of all this, he's got an increasingly popular podcast where he fields questions about his work on all of these things, which serves as one of the fandom's main windows into creative decisions being made behind the scenes.

As a fan of Ian's work, it's been really cool to see him rise in prominence. But the dark side of this is that his obsessive haters from the Archie days now have WAY more of a potential audience of their own. Now, every Sonic fan has to have an opinion on Ian. What this frequently means is that you'll have the Comicsgate types taking things Ian writes or says out of context, attempting to get more of the general fandom to yell at the guy.

Unfortunately, there are a wide variety of Sonic fans who take the bait:

You've got hardcore fans who disliked basically any recent piece of Sonic media and are looking for someone to blame.

You've got the people who are concerned about the sanctity of Sonic's canon, who shoot the messenger any time Ian mentions a new retcon from Sonic Team on the podcast - or any time he even mentions the THOUGHT of changing anything about the canon, as we saw recently with the Sol Dimension nonsense.

You've got people who romanticize some sort of mythical artistic vision that Sega of Japan supposedly has (or had) for the franchise. To many of these fans, American contributors like Ian just don't "get" the heart of the series and are trying to turn Sonic into something different. (This "heart of the series" tends to be some mix of Japanese instruction manual lore, the cinematics from Sonic CD, the OVA, and/or the games written by Shiro Maekawa, depending on what Sonic media the fan in question grew up with.)

You've got fans of specific characters or ships who pin the blame for how their faves are depicted entirely on Ian - most vocally fans of Shadow, even though the root problem is that Sonic Team hasn't known what to do with Shadow since 2006. At best this stops at regular old criticism, but at its worst this devolves into claims that Ian has an agenda against certain characters.

You've got fans annoyed by a perceived over-emphasis on comic-original characters in the IDW comics, ignoring the obvious facts that these characters exist because the game cast is so tightly controlled by Sega, and also, you know, that people just like the IDW characters and want more stories about them.

You've got a LOT of discourse over IDW's Sonic being a hero who tries to give his enemies second chances, as if half of Sonic's closest friends aren't already former villains and rivals. Honestly this is very transparently just reheated Steven Universe discourse lmao

You'll also see people who just think they could do Ian's job better. They can't believe that THIS GUY is the American fan working on all these Sonic projects, when clearly THEY understand the characters and lore and themes SO much better than this charlatan.

All it takes is for someone in one of these categories to be unhappy about some recent piece of Sonic media, and for them to come across an out of context quote or comic panel that rubs them the wrong way, and suddenly the leftist Zoomer Sonic fans will join the latest dogpile on Ian alongside the reactionary Comicsgate types who are mad at him for Making Sonic Woke.

In general, when fandoms get upset, they tend to want a scapegoat. A person or two to point a finger at and go "THAT's who ruined the thing I love!" This tends to be based less on reality and more on which contributors are the most visible online. You'll sometimes see teenage and adult fans of children's cartoons single out a storyboarder who's particularly vocal on Twitter, blame them for every story decision they don't like, and harass them off the platform out of a sense of retribution for their favorite ship or whatever. Failing that, fans might choose to blame every nitpick, down to individual lines of dialogue and frames of animation, on a showrunner, just because that's the name they associate with the show. And unfortunately, when it comes to Sonic, Ian is now arguably the most prolific and outspoken contributor on the English speaking internet, and therefore a common scapegoat.

Some of the things I've seen Ian blamed for are truly wild. A lot of people have claimed for YEARS that he's just lying about the existence of creative guidelines and restrictions from Sega - or, as fans call them, The Mandates - even though they're just an inherent aspect of working on a licensed property. Others claim that The Mandates are real, but somehow Ian's fault. A vocal minority of fans have convinced themselves that Ian is the sole reason the Freedom Fighters don't exist in the IDW comics, even though Ian says he's been pushing to bring them back since day one.

Sometimes you'll see people say he ruined shit he didn't even work on. A few weeks ago on Twitter I saw someone claim that Ian had written a rejected script for Sonic Forces in which Tails died. I could not find a source for this for the life of me. As far as I can tell, the rumor seems to have been born from an alleged leaked script for Forces with margin notes from Aaron Webber that criticized the way Tails was written, and also an old tweet where Aaron joked that Tails would die in an upcoming episode of Sonic Mania Adventures. These merged into "Aaron Webber criticized a draft of the Forces script in which Tails died." How'd Ian get dragged into this? Who fucking knows!

It's all just a big game of telephone. All it takes is some asshole to make something up about Ian on Twitter or YouTube or a DeviantArt journal or some forum, and at least a couple people will believe it, and then it gets repeated as fact. Again, this used to be contained by the niche nature of the Archie Sonic fandom, but now there are WAY more people who are receptive to this shit.

It's just sad to me that Ian tries to be so open and honest about his work, to try to explain the rationale for certain things, to keep fans looped in on the direction the franchise is headed, and this just gives the Flynnspiracy types more quotes to take out of context and try to paint him as the devil. If it sounds like I'm being overly defensive and dismissing his critics, man... some of the things I've seen people say directly to him are just unbelievable. People will send paragraphs-long angry screeds in to his podcast that completely tear him apart, and he has to sit there and be like "Well, that's your opinion, and you're entitled to it." People literally pay for special guest interview episodes where they just rapid fire complaints about his writing at him directly to his face. I don't know how he does it. I would snap.

All of this over Sonic the fucking Hedgehog of all things.

I don't know how to wrap this up. Engaging with fandoms online is very tiring, which is why I tend not to do it. Things like this are too common. I guess, just... remember that making art collaboratively is a complicated thing. The people involved are generally trying their best given the circumstances, but they're only human. They make mistakes. But please treat them like humans. Criticism and dogpiling are not the same thing.

Anyway here’s a bit of a redesign of scourge the hedgehog from the Archie sonic comics.

Thunderbolt! I first saw her once during school, I think.

I drew her in her concept art outfit, but it's not that different from her normal.

Surge and Kit are really good characters to me, I loved the scene where Surge first fights Sonic, and Kit gets to confront Tails. They were so dynamic and well drawn.

And finally, Big the cat!

I first saw this guy in ONE panel at the end of an archie comic, and I instantly was like. "This is my favorite character."

Years later, at school, someone found out I liked Sonic and asked who my favorite character was.

I said, "I didn't know his name but he's big and purple" etc. And they were like. "Big?"

I dumbly answered. "Yeah, he's big." Thinking they were referring to his size like I was. It was a funny story.

To this day, I still like him a lot.

I redesigned Bill slightly because I liked him, but I didn't like his design. He at least deserves a somewhat more unique outfit, right?

For some reason, the bottom right drawing looks like jet. don't know how I managed that.

Isekai'd As My Past Self (Sonic the Hedgehog AU Story)

Being a fan of Isekai Anime (currently watching Villainess Level 99: I May Be the Hidden Boss but I'm Not the Demon Lord), I think it was inevitable for me to come up with a story like this.

However, before I start with the actual premise of the story, I first want to explain the setting though. This story is based on the trope of the main character dying or getting executed in some way, only to reincarnate as their past self (think along the lines of 7th Time Loop: The Villainess Enjoys A Carefree Life Married To Her Worst Enemy!), but with the caveat of having all of their future self's memories.

In this case, the story's starting point would be Archie Sonic's Mobius: 25 Year Later and Mobius: 30 Years Later storyline, with the main characters featured being King Sonic and King Shadow - or rather, their past selves before the events that led into 25YL/30YL took place. Silver would also be a major character in this due to his time-travelling shenanigans.

Before I dive into the plot properly, I will leave a warning here. If you read my previous analysis in regards to this storyline, King Shadow (The Altered Future & The Altered Character) & King Shadow (The Alternate Story), you would know that I don't like 25YL/30YL at all and therefore, I'm planning on not only deconstruct it, but completely destroy it in this AU story.

So, if you are a fan of the 25YL/30YL, the King Sonic storyline or the Sonally pairing, I'm recommending you to NOT read this AU story. If you do read it regardless of my warnings, don't come crying into the comments about how much you hate it. There is a reason I have warned you at the start and I'm not pulling any punches with this one.

With that said, let's dive into this story, and if you are curious about the additional text, it is the translated lyrics of the opening song of Villaines Level 99, titled LOVE or HATE?, which I was listening to while writing the story (the links lead to the TV Version and Full Version respectively). Honestly, if this were an anime, I'd probably use that song as it's theme song.

The Future

The story starts out sometime after the Sonic Universe Issue #5-#8. Take note, Mobius: X Years Later is, going by Pre-SGW canon, a possible ''What if'' future, not the canon future of Pre-SGW canon, which means that the events leading up to it were probably different than what we saw in later parts of Pre-SGW, but the timeline itself would probably similar enough.

The main focus would be on King Sonic, who is actually quite unhappy and bored with his life as the King of Light Mobius, thinking back to his past adventures and longing for the freedom he had, which is basically the core aspect of his character.

Before anyone starts arguing about why Sonic would be unhappy with his current life, take note that he actually expressed unhappiness in canon, specifically saying how he is not fit to be King, with Sally outright dismissing his feelings on the matter. Admittedly, this was also written by Ken Penders, who has no clue how Sonic works as a character and despite raising an interesting character point, quickly drops it like a hot potato.

Still, it is the one line I 100% agree with - Sonic is not fit to be a King.

This is why this AU story exists, as I want to dive in further into Sonic's thoughts on being a King. There would even be one event where another villain appears and King Sonic springs into action, only for Sally to literally stop him in his tracks, pointing out how he has other people that can handle this (this being a callback to a similar argument they had in Issue #134, where Sally basically told Sonic that he shouldn't throw himself in danger, especially since he's her consort and that they have other people fighting for them, meaning Sonic should stay by her side and rule with her - with Sonic refusing).

This is a similar case, with the addition of Sally telling him how he's the King and that he needs to think of his family and his people, how he can't go fighting like this since he's not anymore in his prime, and so on. All of which are valid points, but go against Sonic's core character.

King Sonic would obviously want to do the smart thing and keep Sally happy, but at the same time, wonders if it's really selfish that he also wants to be free from all of his duties as the King and go back to his adventuring lifestyle. Whether he wants to admit it or not, he has come to regret becoming King in the first place, but now that he made his choice, he cannot escape it.

As King Sonic thinks about this, he learns that King Shadow is back once again to cause chaos and, with other characters being conveniently absent, he goes to confront him despite Sally's wishes. King Sonic learns that King Shadow is on the search of some Mystical McGuffin Crystal (placeholder name, think of it like the Paradox Prism from Sonic Prime) that would help him once again to assert his rule over Light Mobius (as he tried to do with Tikhaos previously).

The two end up in a battle, with the Fake King Shadow sneering at King Sonic for not standing up to him and wondering where Sonic's fighting spirit had gone. This is the last straw for King Sonic and he tackles Fake King Shadow into the Paradox Crystal (not very imaginative, but hey, better than the actual placeholder name), causing it to shatter and the two getting engulfed in a bright light before everything around them turns dark.

Sonic awakens suddenly, standing on a stage surrounded by the royal family and the people of the Acorn Kingdom. He is in a daze, wondering what had happened, with the first thing he notices is that he is much younger, being a teenager once again, and wonders if his battle with King Shadow and the whole Light Mobius future was just a dream.

He is then suddenly addressed by Sally, who asks him to finally make their engagement official to the public, but Sonic, still confused and baffled, and unable to comprehend what had just happened, just utters the following:

''No... I need... Shadow.''

He then leaps off the stage and quickly runs off to find the Faker and get the answer in regards to what had happened.

He eventually finds Shadow, who is equally baffled by what had just happened, although he managed to get an understanding of the situation faster than Sonic, and the two get into another fight, just to take out their frustrations on each other.

During the battle, they come to the conclusion that they somehow time-traveled back into the past, awakening as their younger selves right before the events that would set up the Light Mobius story had happened. In this past, they had just a major victory against Dr. Eggman and, as part of the celebration, Sonic and Sally, who had just made up and started dating again, wanted to make their engagement once again official - at least until Sonic ran off to find Shadow.

In other words, while one could argue that they pulled a Silver, this isn't a situation where they can just change the past and travel back to their own future. Instead, they got the opportunity to relive their past while also having the memories of their future selves. In other words, they are free to do whatever they want with the knowledge they have.

As they process this realization, Sonic accuses Shadow of becoming a tyrant again, and Shadow responds how the only reason he had done that was because even after Dr. Eggman was gone, other villains attempted to take over his place as the Big Bad and Shadow was the one who dealt with them to ensure peace. Had he gone too far in his mission? He did, but he felt that there was no other option for him left. There was power vacuum and he filled it by becoming a tyrant.

Sonic also realizes that, with him being back in the past as his younger self, he also got his own wish granted. He is not King Sonic anymore and he could easily go back to the adventuring he always wanted, enjoying the second chance, the freedom he had been granted. At the same time, he feels guilty because this would mean that the future he knows might not exist anymore, and it is through his own fault, even if he doesn't know the details.

Therefore, Sonic's main inner conflict here would be that he is torn between his desire for freedom and the duty he had towards the Acorn Kingdom as the future King, while Shadow's inner conflict would be his desire to protect the world through any means necessary and whether he should temper his more violent and cruel tendencies.

To make things more complicated, they are suddenly joined by Silver, who came from his own future to inform them about a looming danger that is threatening to tear up reality, with Sonic and Shadow realizing that they're responsible for this and have to work together now to fix their mistake.

This would be the main premise of the story.

As the story resumes, further details are revealed about Sonic and Shadow's current situation and the true nature of the shattered Paradox Crystal.

Through Silver's investigation, they learn that he Paradox Crystal was a powerful artifact that had the power of bending time and space by granting the user their innermost desires. This explains why Sonic and Shadow have returned back to the past as their younger selves, as Sonic's desire was to have his freedom back, while Shadow's desire was to have the power to protect the world in his own way. Not only that, but the shattering of the Crystal had also tampered with Sonic's own Chaos Energy, putting him in a similar state of agelessness as Shadow, which would allow Sonic to always remain in his prime so he could protect people and keep the world safe.

The three hedgehogs also learn that, before Sonic and Shadow, there was a different Entity that sought out the Paradox Crystal, but got trapped inside it and the Crystal getting shattered released it, which resulted in the Entity gaining the power to slowly fracture reality. To fix this mess, Sonic and Shadow would need to find the pieces of the Crystal that have scattered across the world like the Dragon Balls and bring them together. The reason why it is them who have to do this is, aside from personal responsibility, they're the ones among very few people who can actually detect and handle the Crystal's power and presence.

Sonic is excited to go on this adventure, only to get startled by a furious Sally calling for him and promptly hiding behind Shadow, as he doesn't want to confront Sally's wrath, yet. Shadow, in response, just rolls his eyes, while Silver is confused about what is going on. Basically, by Sonic saying ''No'' and running off earlier, Sally believed that she got shot down again and wants to give him a ''What the hell, dude?!'' speech about Sonic not caring about her feelings or even thinking about the situation for that matter.

Sonic attempts to explain himself, but is interrupted by Shadow, who tells Sally that reality is in danger and that's why Sonic ran off. This way, he also stops Sonic from accidentally revealing that he has memories of his future self, later explaining to Sonic that he doesn't really trust Sally with using any of that information. He points out that, while she can be proactive, when he started his tyrannical rule, she literally did nothing to undermine him, meaning that she still lacks some of decisiveness on her part.

Sally figures that, if things are that bad, then they should call the Freedom Fighters for help, although she would also have to discuss the matter with the Council of Acorn, as per the current rules, they cannot really act without getting the Council's approval.

Sonic, having enough of the Acorn Kingdom's politics and bureaucracy, decides to set out on his own, with only Shadow as his companion. He refuses to be anymore under the control of the government, be it the King or the Council, making the decision to work on his own.

He is here to protect them, not to be controlled by them, and if they don't like it, he can leave. He can do more good for the world if he doesn't have to wait to be told what he is supposed to do.

While there would be people protesting against this decision, Sonic and Shadow are already off on their adventure, traveling all over the world for the Crystal Shards Sonic Unleashed-style.

They would also face several opponents who would want the Crystal Shards for themselves, like Dr. Eggman, Ixis Naugus and Geoffrey St. John, and Scourge and the Destructix (perhaps even meeting Anti-Shadow and Anti-Silver if they have to travel to Moebius).

Oh, and one more thing - the engagement with Sally is off.

The Freedom Of Choice

As I had mentioned before, the main inner conflict for Sonic would be the choice he would make in shaping his own future.

The expectations from people in-universe, as well as the reader, would obviously be that Sonic follows all the steps that leads up to the Light Mobius future (e.g. marrying Sally and becoming King), as that is the selfless thing to do, something that is expected from the main hero. Set right what was done wrong and follow the path to the anticipated happy ending.

But, is that really the ending that would make Sonic happy? This is a question Shadow would ask Sonic, wondering if he would really be happy to stay at one place, figuratively shackled to the duties of a King and abandoning who he is at his core.

In this story, Sonic would ultimately refuse to give up his freedom.

He will admit that, in the previous timeline, he did it to make Sally happy, but not himself. As a matter of fact, that was something everyone expected him to do, as they were the power couple and all that stuff, and he tried not to look back on the ''What If''. For him, there was no ''What if''.

However, now that he got a second chance, he decides to be selfish and do something for himself, especially when he experiences this sense of freedom once again by travelling all over the world, meeting new people and go on adventures.

The future itself is regarded as a huge ''What If''. Sonic has already experienced a future where he is the King and he wasn't happy about it. The question is, should he continue sacrificing his own happiness for the sake of others or actually be a bit selfish for his own sake? He doesn't even know how he ended up back as his younger self, so is he even allowed to change the present and the future? Would he be the villain because of that?

After all, it is not as if he would immediately return to the supposedly set Light Mobius future even if he fixed the Paradox Crystal. He was brought back to relive his past as he sees fit and he will be stuck in his teenage body with no way to jump into the future. So, either he can live through the whole experience again or just choose a different path.

Sonic would instead use the memories of his future self to help people, preventing any bad event flags from being triggered and protecting the world his own way. These changes in the present would obviously lead to the Light Mobius future not even being a possibility by default, allowing Sonic to live without regret.

Nevertheless, it won't be an easy choice to make and Sonic would keep doubting himself, which is why he would benefit from Shadow's presence.

Speaking of which...

The reason Shadow became a tyrant in the former timeline was to protect the world, ultimately losing himself in the process and feeding into his own delusions. When he returns to the past, he would still be in the mindset that he needs to protect the world by conquering it and eliminating any opposition. Sonic insists that he would be there to stop him, as he knows what Shadow is capable of.

Suddenly, Shadow gets furious, snapping at Sonic because the latter never saw just how bad it got before Shadow took over as a tyrant. As stated before, there was a power vacuum when Dr. Eggman died, leading to many other villains trying to take over, which basically made this whole situation a world-wide Game of Thrones. Shadow had to take over, because if he didn't, things could've ended up much worse.

Shadow also admits that he understands that everyone hated him, but he had to choose the ''ends justify the means'' option because he felt that there was nothing else left. Sonic, having gained a better understanding of Shadow's motives, would stop their fight and make an offer instead. He would tell Shadow that they could protect the world together as a team, especially since they have knowledge of the future and can use that to their advantage. Shadow would accept his offer.

The part that follows would focus on Sonic and Shadow's adventures across the world, where they would from time to time be aided by their friends, but ultimately, the story would be about them working together and developing a strong bond.

Now, that bond can be purely platonic... but if you are in any way familiar with my blog, you should already know that this would spiral into a Sonadow story.

I'm certain that some don't like where this is going. Why should I write down such a story if one of its conclusions is a non-canonical ship? Well, if you still think the same, then you seriously should have skipped this part.

I had stated before that the story focuses on the concept of freedom and what it means to Sonic, and in this case, this choice would split off into three different paths. The first path would be following the set story, leading into the Light Mobius Future, aka the one this story will avoid. The second path follows a simple adventure plot, albeit going against the beliefs and expectations of the reader, with everyone gaining a happy, but platonic ending, which is where non-shippers should've stopped their read.

The natural conclusion would be that the third path follows the Sonadow Ending.

As stated above, in this path, Sonic would ultimately choose freedom over duty, which would make him ending up with Sally impossible. If he marries her, he becomes King and the Light Mobius future happens, which he wants to avoid in this life. So, distancing himself from any romantic relationships that would result in him being tied down, without him having any say in it, would be the next logical step.

If Sally questions Sonic about their engagement, he would tell her something along the lines of having thought about their future together, and he cannot see it happening anymore. He knows that a future with Sally means a future without freedom, and he knows that, the way he is now, they're incompatible.

Yeah, Sally (and the Sonally shippers) wouldn't be happy about that. After all, their relationship works on the idea of ''Opposites Attract'', which is probably one of reasons why people find it appealing. No offense to those who like the ship, but the issue that I personally see here is that ''Opposites Attract'' cannot work if the two sides are too opposing to attract each other.

In other words, Pre-SGW!Sally is too devoted to her kingdom and people and has stated time and time again that she prefers to settle down once this whole deal with Eggman is over.

Sonic does not work like that.

Sure, maybe Pre-SGW!Archie!Sonic would work, but I'm certain that by now, you have noticed that I'm writing Sonic's character with his Game!Self's characteristics in mind (and some helpful suggestions from Ian Flynn in regards to how he would approach Sonic being in a relationship).

First and foremost, Sonic is free as the wind. He would not settle in one place, even if he would visit it just to see his friends. He would keep travelling. He is not fit to be King (or even a father for that matter, even if he would try his best). His strengths lie in being an adventurer and he wants to fully embrace this side of him over the course of the story.

It has been a repeated statement in the shipping community that if you want to pair Sonic up with someone, this person should be a character who wouldn't warp who Sonic is at his core, but be able to keep up with him and accept his lifestyle. I have seen a debate about Sonamy, and while I find the ship cute and agree that Amy is someone who works hard to be recognized by Sonic, she too would be someone who'd prefer to settle down rather than always be on the move.

This brings me to the only person who not only recognizes Sonic's adventurous spirit and desire for freedom, but has immense respect for him, is capable of not only keeping up with Sonic, but even get ahead of him, and even if they argue, it is clear that both have the same goal in mind, even if their methods differ.

Look, I was never interested in shipping, so if you want me to like a certain pairing, you need to really convince me that it works and that the characters have chemistry and a charm to them.

Sonadow does have that chemistry and charm that makes me go ''Yeah, these two actually work together well.''

As for Sonic and Shadow, this adventure would definitely explore just how well they click together. To note, both Sonally and Sonadow are a case of ''opposites attract'', but with Sonally, they're just too different to work properly, especially when one is chained to duty and the other desires freedom.

Meanwhile, Sonic and Shadow are literally two different sides of the same coin, both never really settling anywhere and driven by their desire to protect their world, even if their methods differ. Both easily balance each other out and even them arguing, or just talking for that matter, sounds like them flirting more often than not. The only thing that needs to be added to their existing relationship is them becoming more vulnerable and open around each other, as it doesn't change what they already have or who they already are.

By spending so much time with each other, they would eventually realize that they have something going on and decide whether they'll fully embrace it or not, especially given their initial reservations about being in a relationship.

Sonic doesn't want to be tied down by anyone or anything and fears that he might lose his freedom again, while Shadow would be anxious about getting this close to someone again due to his own fear of losing someone important to him.

However, considering who the person is they're attracted to, they would realize that there really isn't anything to fear. Shadow would not take Sonic's freedom away from him, and Sonic basically has Main Character Syndrome, so there is no chance that he would die easily, at least not without a fight, something Shadow is well aware of by now.

Not too sure about how their friends would react to them being together, although I'm certain that they would be supportive.

Well, most of them.

LOVE or HATE Story

I did not intend to go this much into detail with this AU Story (which I came up with in a day, mind you), but once I started writing down the idea, I couldn't stop. Sure, there is probably more to write, but I would then have to start the story properly to add even more details of events and interactions.

While I'm somewhat interested in writing this out, I know well that this would end up in a very long story, and I already have other projects I'm working on, so this will remain as just as an idea.

I am open to discussing this story and what else can be explored and I'm eager to hear your opinion on it. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Just some doodles with my redesigns and rewrites for fun. Along with a few of my own OCs!

Spindle, previously one of the smartest apprentices of the Bride of Endless Reach, foresaw something horrible that made him decide to take the written prophecy as soon as he was made to write it down, believing his Bride would make it come true much too soon. Smart but rather quick to annoy. He helps Vibran escape a certain evil doctor when he ends up getting lost on his journey.

Vibran, a trained and trusted ninja of the Bride of Constant Vigil. He was sent to find her son for her, though ended up being misled and almost turned into a robot by an evil doctor, who saw him fit for testing some of his experiments. However, he was saved by a rather kind spider that has a way with words. This guy may be kind of thick-headed at times, but he’s got heart and spirit out the wazoo!

Mithral, apprentice of the former bride of Rich Nights. Determined to follow her Bride’s final order- and hopefully restore her confidence and hope in the process- she has been wandering through the different zones of Mobius for years in an attempt to find both the written prophecy that was stolen and Constant Vigil’s Son. Her rather cheerful naivety has worn out slowly, leaving her a rather exasperated and level-headed character.

Okay, so…this is gonna be a very very very lore based-rewrite redesign because I think there’s a lot that can be done with the Bride of Rich Nights, especially since she didn’t get much of an actual role in the comics besides…being murdered for her position. Alongside that, we never actually got an actual replacement for her? Which…is the clan just run by officials?

I’m going to try and spiff things up a bit here, so let’s get to it!

Bride of Rich Nights 💎

The Bride of Rich Nights, the former Matriarch of the Yagyu clan, the self-exiled hermit of the Dragon kingdom’s mountains, simply known as Diamona the bat.

Originally, Diamona inherited her title from the former Bride of Rich Nights, her older sister and mentor Echo, after she stepped down, feeling herself unfit for the position. She was able to manage the clan with little complications, even keeping most of her relations with other clans quite well despite the peace treaty between them being…less than enforced. Things were a bit tense between them. However, The Clan Wars that happened so long ago would soon be reignited by a horrible mistake…

You see, Diamona had very little complications, but she still had issues and problems. Specifically, her greed and paranoia. The Yagyu were known assassins and thieves, raised to favor gold and riches over all else. Wealth was everything and anything to the clan. However, none favored riches more than Diamona.

Her closest guards one day came to her with news. Little did she know though that this very information would flip her world around on its crowned head. The news? The Bride of Constant Vigil was planning something against her, something that involved her riches. Still much younger than the other Brides and far less wise at the time, she considered her options. But the most pleasing one came to her quickly.

Thus, she sent her apprentice, Mithral, to get rid of Vigil’s most precious thing. Her son. The apprentice, however, could not stomach this, for the Bride’s son was still a child and Mithral herself on the edge of adulthood. So, instead, she tricked him into venturing out, knocked him unconscious, and flew him far away enough that he would not be able to return easily. To a place called…Downunda, she would tell her bride later, reasoning that she followed her orders.

This was not what the Bride wanted though. She wanted Vigil to suffer for plotting against her and her clan! However, news reached quickly and, as it turns out, this still was impactful. Vigil became furious but blamed Reach instead of Diamona. As it turns out, Reach blamed Storm for theft of one of her written down visions, which Storm denied but blamed Vigil for it. As it turns out, Diamona’s command caused the treaty to break and war to begin once more with Diamona right in the center of it. The three attempted to get her on their side, each with riches of some kind.

Fo once in her life, she denied them every single time. She could not be bought. The riches she once desired and obsessed over now brought her pain and discomfort to look upon. What had she done? She didn’t mean for war, she didn’t mean to cause any of this. Diamona stewed away for days, alone until her apprentice finally broke that self-confinement. Mithral asked what she was going to do.

So she did the only thing she could do. Diamona told Mithral she would step-down, leave her people to pick someone more befitting. She wasn’t fit to rule and that was blatantly clear to her now. Her behavior had been horrible and inexcusable, clouded by her paranoia and greed.

However, she gave Mithral one more command as her bride. Find Vigil’s son, find the missing prophecy, and bring them both back to fix the mistake she can’t. She doesn’t deserve their forgiveness, not now and probably not ever. Mithral agreed and helped her leave without a trace, heading off herself after aiding her Bride one last time.

Present day, she resides deep within the caverns of the mountain areas, guiding any lost residents from the shadows who wander too deep. She lives alone, self-exiled until she can believe she deserves any chance at redemption. Her guilt eats at her, though Diamona is a bit surprised by how satisfied she is without all of her once precious treasures.

However, what she never realized was that her sudden vanishing made the other Brides believe that the same person who made Vigil’s son vanish made The Bride of Rich Nights vanish as well. This only made the fighting worse. Mithral is still searching as well, doing her absolute best to fulfill her Bride’s final order. Perhaps though…she may just stumble upon her goal soon enough. With help from the freedom fighters…or perhaps from a certain detective agency? That’s a story for another time though, isn’t it?

Okay, I know she got a ton more appearing time and (somewhat) development in the comics when she became an eggboss and all that but I wanted to make her even prettier

Apparently, she was a fan-favorite (and my gay ass honestly understands, she’s fabulous) but I feel like she could be made even better as well with a few simple changes. So uh

Bride of Conquering Storm ⛈

The Bride of Conquering Storm, one of the three remaining Brides of the Dragon Kingdom, head of the Raiju Clan, declared by most as the most aggressive and merciless of the Brides by far.

In the clan of Raiju, strength and power is everything. By far, the champion of this merciless clan was Storm and her blatant bloodlust is what earned her the title of Bride. However, this was not an immediate victory. She had to fight her equally as violent sister to the death, which resulted in the loss of her eye. Even so, she reigned victorious and adapted to continue fighting.

She is untrusting of outsiders due to her heavy training and conditioning in the clan, though values loyalty and strength over all. Her teachings are as harsh and militant, but are taken with pride as these methods trace back to the clan’s founder. Though a bit unrelated, it is rumored amongst Raiju trainees that their Bride is able to manipulate weather with her feelings; this myth has been used to explain why the Raiju clan tends to be shadowed in storm clouds most of the time.

In present day, she remains a hostile, antagonistic figure amongst the other Brides, who also tend to keep their distance from her and her foot soldiers. The only Bride that she had somewhat “okay” relations with was Rich Nights. Despite her hostility, Storm is emotionally driven and a cunning individual that will defend her honor to her very last breath.

Decided to do the other brides as well and this gal is probably my favorite design-wise out of the bunch.

Nothing really bothered me a whole bunch about her design but I didn’t immediately think spider when I saw her. I also thought she looked a little too plain, but maybe that’s just me?

Again, this is my attempt at adapting these characters to modern sonic (specifically the comics for the most part) from the Archie comics. I’m not caught up with everything in them though, though I guess this could be considered a rewrite or reboot. So, let’s get to the modernizing of…

The Bride of Endless Reach 🕷

The Bride of Endless Reach, one of the three remaining Brides of the Dragon Kingdom, The mysterious and prophetic matriarch of the Gossamer Clan.

She has an almost perfect accuracy with her prophecies, this and her other strengths and abilities earning her the title of Bride of Endless Reach. Her authoritative nature tends to hide her more gracious and caring one, the one that treats her people as her own children (despite actually having none of her own). However, she herself is still a ruler and her position demands respect, which she gets in return from her people.

Reach once fought alongside her people on the field, however, the Web of Fate’s prophetic power convinced her to go out less and less until she began to spend almost all of her time in it’s presence. She foresaw horrible things that made her wary of her fellow Brides and even with contempt at their actions, especially Conquering Storm.

In present day, Reach remains a figure shrouded in mystery to those outside of her clan. She is wise and a rather merciful woman, yet dangerous with a rather horrible temper buried deep under. Her prophetic gaze and connection to the Web of Fate has rather desensitized her to her unconsciously brutal methods of fulfilling what she foretells.
