Guys I’m calling it. Windows and Palmer’s ship name will be Winmer. I’m tired of not having a specific ship name to tag them under. And that name seems simple enough to me.
So, cool? Can I call them that?
Your hands are so cold
I’m on my 3rd rewatch of John Carpenter’s The Thing and
“I ain’t going with Windows”
“FUCK YOU PALMER”
Will never not be funny
interaction
I love how everyone just ships everyone together ‘cause they’re all really shippable with each other and yet none of us have a considered the possibility that they could all just be poly if we wanted them to be.
WinMac should NOT be the top ship. You guys are insane when MacReady and Childs is RIGHT THERE. That ending??? Dead mans yaoi. They had chemistry throughout the whole film, and Y'all latched onto Windows and MacReady?? Is it all for the computer brands joke?? Whatever. Just you wait.
@emile-tb knows whats up, and is holding the flashlight for my keyboard while I type in the dark rn.
He tells me to tell yall he says hi.
if you guys have ship name ideas for Mac and Childs lmk
WHATEVER THEY ARE IN THEIT FIRST WARMEST FRENCH KISS
the Palmer thing rips further and another Palmer
But as my own personal favorite, there’s so many to choose from that I can’t possibly, but for now I’ll have to say Windows being constantly nagged by Gary and Blair about needing to focus on working the radio only for Blair to later on destroy the whole set. I thought that was really funny when I first saw the movie.
Alright what do y’all consider the funniest joke in The Thing and NO you can’t say the Palmer “you gotta be fuckin kidding” choose a different one
I’m personally very fond of Copper repeatedly telling Mac that the Norwegians aren’t Swedish
on a road trip all day today so i made this
What makes this so interesting is that while Nauls and Windows are close, and even more evidently are Nauls and Palmer close, Palmer and Windows can hardly stand each other.
I really want to understand what was going on between them. Why, when tensions were at their highest, did those two immediately go after each other’s throats?
Yes, Palmer Thing might have been throwing him under the bus those few instances because he found him to be the weakest or something along those lines, but the thing is that Windows didn’t seem shocked that Palmer would do such a thing even before he knew that he was one of those things. (I’ve used the word thing too many times in a row.) And, I don’t know, I feel like that might say something about their relationship.
It’s just interesting to see how they both share close associations with the same person but can’t get along alone together or even when Nauls is there in the middle.
Anyways, but apparently from what I’ve read the actors for Palmer and Windows wanted to actually their characters to ally themselves together agansit the rest of the group but apparently that didn’t fit John Carpenter’s vision and also they apparently improvised a lot of those scenes of them fighting together. So, I’m kind of assuming that after John Carpenter rejected their idea they just decided between themselves they were going to go in the complete opposite direction of what they initially had in mind for their relationship and have them disdain each other’s guts wholeheartedly lol.
nauls and windows's differences only bring them closer. like, they contrast just as much as they compliment one another. they're both young, their hair-dos are similar and they aren't afraid to be blunt when they have to be. yet nauls is more positive than windows--even if he is more snarky. he's more quick to react, more grounded in his emotions than windows who's a little more hesitant and panicky.
yet they're never very apart from each other for too long...they really do rely on each other when things get rough. idk man just nauls being the one to comfort windows in the og script...windows being the one to draw the blood from him...it's just they're SO close it honestly makes me wanna cry. their character traits just play off each other so well it's great
*grabs him by the scruff like a cat*
*Camera flips to Palmer Thing.*
“Ah shi—” *Flips back to Windows.*
Windows lowkey should've just killed himself in front of the crew and spared them the trouble of having deal with his useless ass. He'd already taken up enough oxygen
