hi again! back here pretending i didn't say i'd be posting more and then disappeared. i hope there's someone here still, if there's not it's ok, let it be just me and my own tumblr shadow.
BUT if there is, i hope you're ok. been a long time, alot happened, it always does.
i went to the movies to watch one of my favorite movies of the year: 'ainda estou aqui' (i'm still here) by walter salles. it's really nice to see a brazilian film doing so well internationally.
there's a promo going on and i bought these books over ☝🏼 there. as always, camus, clarice and byung-chul han; then, ivan turgueniev, woolf (i've been wanting to buy for a long time), and today i received a dostoievski book too 👇🏼!
unfortunately 2 weeks (maybe?) ago, i got hurt on my left foot. i tried to get better but it didn't work; so yesterday during our very first game in the competition, it got worse. i had to go to the hospital. the result is me not allowed to put my left foot on the ground and jumping around the house on one leg only.
and to wrap it up, i literally just started 'the substance'. don't have anything to say yet cause i'm 10 minutes in - but the photography is insane! really really good. i hope the hype is well deserved.

LOOK I DONT FEEL STRONGLY ABOUT THINGS BUT OH MY GOD IT WAS AN ENTIRE WASTE OF AN HOUR
Maybe I’m just not like good at seeing the depths and nuance of film or whatever but THE CHARACTERS WERE STUPID AND I CANT ENJOY SOMETHING WITH STUPID CHARACTERS THAT ARENT STUPID ON PURPOSE!!! THEY COULD AT LEAST ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THIS FAMILY IS A STUPID STUPID FAMILY THAT IS DUMB BUT THEY DONT EVEN DO THAT??? THE MOVIE ACTS LIKE THEY SHOULD SURVIVE WHEN THEY ABSOLUTELY SHOULD NOT!!!
RAAAA WHY IS SHE PREGNANT WITH THE KNOWLEDGE THAT THETES EVIL BEASTS WHO WILL EAT HER BABY ESPECIALLY WHEN HER OTHER KID DIED TOO LIKE 😒
They could’ve made it less stupid by saying ‘oh she was pregnant BEFORE the quiet place happened’ BUT IT SPECIFICALLY STATES THAT SHE GOT PREGNANT WHILE IT WAS HAPPENING! IN WHAT FANTASY LAND ARE YOU LIVING IN THAT MAKES YOU THINK OH YEAH LETS HAVE SEX WITH OUR KIDS IN THE HOUSE AND ALSO MONSTERS ROAMING AROUND !!!
Don’t even with me right now IT MAKES ME SO IRRATIONALLY MAD !!!
Don’t watch a quiet place I could sum the whole movie up in about 4 ish paragraphs. nothing significant happens until the end AND BY THAT POINT ITS OVER!!
But prove me wrong I like hearing different opinions👍

I'm going to Sydney this morning for my friends gig at petersham lawn bowling club. I haven't been there since I was a youth but it was full of hot middle aged rockerbillies and pin ups getting sloshed and playing games so I'm excited even if I won't be in uniform as I won't have time to go to my mums house to change into her register vintage.
I'll only be there for 2 nights and I have already made plans to see the substance 3 times and I made a tinder so I can get more people to watch with me

I keep coming back to this video essay
The simulacrum of feminine performance | explored through The Substance
Especially the concept of a simulacrum. This idea of hyper-reality.
Of course of how it pertains to gender but also how it seeps our way into so much of our culture. We're so separated from our inherent existence and instead who we are is filtered through several layers of society
I haven't spent enough time considering this in the depth I would like to write a full analysis of these concepts and how they apply to me and others but I've got so many seeds of thoughts around this topic.
I think eventually I might write a personal essay on how the simulacrum of womanhood affects me as a nonbinary person, especially one who's autistic and struggles with a social identity. I think there's so much to explore on this topic
