The soft sound of crunching show beneath your boots was the only sound that filled the quiet, calm afternoon air. You finished up the final of the few chores you had, your crops didn’t need as much tending to now that winter had settled over the valley, and your animals tended to want to stay in their barns, warm and cozy. The shorter days had everyone, even yourself, feeling more lethargic, more calm. The trees were rather bare in your orchard, and before the snowfall you had felt saddened by the sight, but the farm now looked almost like a winter wonderland; some type of painting you got to live in. Surveying the area, you let out a sigh to yourself, ready to turn in for the rest of the day. Maybe you’d make some hot chocolate, or eggnog, read a few of the books Leah loaned you. As you made your way up your porch you heard a call of your name.
“Hi!” You turned, seeing Jas running across your farm, wrapped in a thick, knitted scarf, her mittens danging from the sleeves of her jacket, chubby cheeks red from the cold. She was grinning, eyes sparkling as she crew closer to you.
“Jas?” You smiled at her, waiting for her to grow closer, her little arms wrapping around your waist, “What are you doing over here?”
She squeezed you, grinning up against you, “Do you wanna go on a sleigh ride with me and Shane?”
The question almost caught you off guard. A sleigh ride? You glanced around at the snow, it was thick enough to move a sleigh around you suppose. It also sounded rather fun. You and Shane had been dancing around each other for the first year you had moved here, after you began breaking through his rough exterior, but even with all your flirting and teasing, you hadn’t pegged him the type of guy to indulge in winter festivities. You raised an eyebrow down at her.
“A sleigh ride huh?”
She nodded enthusiastically, “Yeah! He promised me he’d take me for a sleigh ride today, and he said you could come!” She paused, as if rethinking your words, “Well I asked if you could come, but then his face got all red and then milk came out of his nose! Aunt Marnie told him to calm down and sent me to come get you.”
You tried to stifle the laugh at the image of Shane choking on a cup of milk, coughing so hard it came out of his nose. Looking down at Jas, arms still wrapped around you, her enthusiasm was palpable. Her little face was hard to resist, once you had become her friend she had grown pretty attached to you. Your blossoming… whatever it was with Shane seemed to help that too.
"Alright," you agreed, chuckling softly, brushing off some stray snowflakes from her eyelashes, "I’ll come. But only because you asked so nicely."
"Yay!" Jas beamed, bouncing on her toes, pulling back from where she had been holding you, "I’ll go tell Shane you’re coming!"
With that she ran off, waving as she went. You smiled, feeling more excited and awake than you had before. You and Shane had hung out before, you and Jas had hung out, hell, you and Marnie had hung out, but you’d never gone out with Shane and Jas together. For some reason that idea made you nervous. Through everything Shane had gone through, you knew how much he loved Jas, how much he wanted only good things for her, even if he wasn’t sure how to do it. Months ago, before Shane had been working on getting sober, you two had been drinking at the beach, trying to keep quiet as to not annoy Elliot. He had confessed that, if you two started dating officially, you’d be the first real relationship he’d had in years.
“I didn’t trust my judgement for the longest time,” He took a swig from his beer, staring out at the calm waters, “I didn’t wanna date some asshole and have them be awful to Jas. She’s been through enough.”
He turned to you, and without his constant nagging anxiety, he smiled at you, soft and sirene, “But she adores you. I do too, if you’re willing to wait.”
That night sold the deal for you, and though he may only remember bits and pieces of your conversation, he knew that whatever happened changed the tides of your relationship. After changing into less work oriented winter clothes, you made your way to meet the duo. The family of raccoons that had made a home between your farms was no where to be seen, more than likely curled up and warm.
Shane was already outside, petting and brushing the horse he seemed to have chosen for the night. Rocky, you were reminded, one of the horses Shane had helped care for since he was a little fawn. Shane was clad in his winter gear, though he seemed to be more put together than he had been last winter. It was a good look on him. Hearing the crunching of your boots, he turned, the relaxed look on his face lifting, corners of his mouth twitching upwards, his eyes crinckling.
“I didn’t think you’d be coming,” He called out in way of greeting, amusement clear in his voice, though he seemed relieved as well.
You grinned, getting close enough to let Rocky sniff at you curiously, “Well, Jas made a rather compelling case. Something about milk?”
Though his cheeks were already red from the cold, you could tell they deepened in shade at your words. Flustered, his gaze turned back to Rocky, “Oh shut it.”
You grinned, more teasing words on the tip of your tongue, but you were stopped as Jas leaned out from the sleigh, a slight pout on her face, “Come on you two! Aunt Marnie says she’ll make hot chocolate when we get back!”
Shane rolled his eyes playfully as you chuckled, both moving to climb in the sleigh. Shane grabbed a blanket before you could hop in, draping it over your shoulders, “To stay warm,” He said, trying to shrug it off as he helped you climb in.
Jas scooted over, excitement in her movements as she made room for the two of you. Her mittens were on, scarf wrapped tighter around her, and you assume Marnie had adjusted her outfit for her. Shane followed in after, the reins in his hands. As he climbed in, he sat close to you, your sides pressed against each other, and the feeling had warmth spreading through your body.
“You two ready?” He asked quietly, the look on his face soft as you glanced over.
“Yes!” Jas cried out, clearly impatient that you all had yet to move.
He chuckled, turning his eyes forward as he got Rocky to start moving. It was quiet as you three moved about slowly, the lake frozen over, the trees still, animals asleep and quiet. The valley looked magical with all the snow, and you almost wanted to hold you breath, afraid any noise was be too much. Jas, however, let out a happy laugh, trying to goad Shane into making Rocky move a bit faster. He complied without complaint, and she cried out in victory, face glowing.
“This is so much fun!” You were moving for a few more minutes before she called out for you all to stop, scrambling to climb out of the sleigh.
“Stay close!” Shane calle, helping her onto her feet, the two of you following, leaning against the cart as she ran around, throwing handfuls of snow into the air.
“I don’t think I’ve been on a sleigh ride since I was a kid,” You pulled the blanket around you tighter, smiling as Jas fell back to start making snow angels.
“This is the first time I’ve taken her on a sleigh ride,” Shane admitted, adjusting his beanie, “Her parents and I… we used to do this when we were younger. Add in some fire ball hot chocolate and bad horror stories, and it was a regular Saturday night for us.”
He so rarely brought up the topic of her parents, and you stayed quiet, not wanting to interrupt whatever he was thinking of as he watched Jas continue to play, throwing half-made snowballs at the bushes.
“I was too much of a mess every winter after she started living with me to bring her here,” He leaned against you, moving so his head was against your shoulder, and you let him, leaning your head ontop of his, “I’m really happy I can do this for her now. And I’m really happy you came with us.”
You felt warm at his words, so many emotions flowing through you. It was taking a lot of strength not to just kiss him, the two of you refraining from PDA in front of Jas until you not only made things official, but talked to her about your relationship as well.
Though you suspected she had some idea, kids were smarter than they were given credit for.
“I’m glad I could come as well,” You spoke softly, and Shane hummed, “Even if it made you choke on your milk.”
“Okay,” He pulled back, standing up straight, but there was laughter in his voice, “You can pretend she never told you that.”
“Hmm, I don’t know, seemed pretty important to me,” Before you could continue teasing him, a snowball came flying your way, soft and small, but pelting you in the shoulder.
“Wha-” You ducked, another snowball sailing and hitting the sleigh, laughter bubbling from you, “Jas!”
She giggled uncontrollably from the snow, and Shane snorted.
“It’s a full on snowball war with her,” He said, a sly grin growing on his face, his tone still light, “She pelts poor Vincent every winter. You’ll have to try hard if you wanna win.”
You turned to him, meeting his gaze for a split secent, before turning back to where Jas was peeking from around a bush, smile still on her face, a snowball in her hand. You reached down to the snow, forming a loose ball in your hand.
“Alright,” You stood up, aiming for the bush in front of Jas, but before you could throw it, another snowball hit you from the back, straight from Shane.
Mouth parted, you turned to him with faux shock, “Really, Shane? You too?”
Shane was grinning now, a full smile, teeth on display as he laughed, “Told you, if you wanna win you gotta try harder.”
Turns out he was true when calling it a snowball war, the three of you pelting each other with snowballs. The quietness was replaced with laughter, the three of you shrieking in delight whenever you’d get hit. At one point Shane picked Jas up, flipping her upside down and holding her in the air, her laughter dissolving into breathless cackles as you started throwing snowballs at Shane, declaring you’d save her. Eventually, the energy died down as you all began to feel and realize how cold you’d gotten, Jas’ teeth chattering as she denied being cold.
You piled her back into the sleigh, wrapping the blanket around her and holding her close. You and Shane were stilled pressed against each other, him steering Rocky back to Marnie’s place, a slow and steady pace. Jas, though she tried to fight it, ended up falling asleep in your lap, the excitement and long day catching up to her.
“That was… fun,” Shane spoke, so quiet you almost didn’t hear him.
You smiled, sighing with content, “Yeah. It was.”
“I am glad you came with us.”
“Me too,” You two were keeping your voices quiet, “I know I can’t replace your memories with her parents, and I would never want to, but maybe we can start some new winter traditions with Jas, if you’d want.”
He snorted, “Maybe without being pelted by snowballs every year,” He was smiling as he spoke, his eyes so soft you could feel your heartbeat quicken, warmth spreading from your chest, “But I’d like that.”
A/N: concernedape PLEASE let Jas move in with you when you marry Shane, she's his goddaughter!!!
“Where do you think you’re off to?”
It took you an embarrassing amount of time to process the question, clutching the sweater you had blearily grabbed like a life line. You turned, seeing your husband standing at the end of the kitchen, hands on his hips, an annoyed look on his face.
Instead of answering him, a muffle sniff came from you, the small movement causing pain to radiate through your skull. Shane seemed to see this, the disgruntled look melting into something far softer as he stepped to you.
You shook your head slightly, but didn’t have the strength to shake his hands off as he guided you back to your bedroom.
“Shane— there’s so much I gotta do today,” Your voice sounded hoarse and weak, the short sentence making your throat feel even dryer.
He leveled you with a look as he gently pushed you back onto the bed, gently laying you back, bringing one of the soft quilts Marnie had gifted you to cover your body.
“The only thing you need to worry about is getting better,” He rested his hand against your forehead, frowning at what he felt, “Besides— it’s raining cats and dogs out there. The crops are getting watered, the cats are all inside and the animals are in their barns. You got nothing to worry about.”
You huffed, not having even noticed the weather outside. Now that it had been brought to your attention you could hear the rain pelting off of the roof, the distant clap of thunder occasionally. He smiled as you melted further into the bed, heading back to the kitchen, mumbling something that sounded vaguely like, “That’s what I thought.”
You felt a little dip in the bed, your little tabby, Miso, having jumped up on bed with you, nuzzling your side with a soothing purr. Seemed even the pets knew you weren’t feeling too well.
You sighed. It had been a few years since you moved here, and honestly, it felt wrong not being up and moving. You hadn’t given yourself days off in forever, always finding something to do. Clearing weeds, planting and harvesting crops, pressing fruits or veggies into jams and pickled items, delivering any requested items, visiting Sandy or the island, going into the mines. Your days were full and busy from sun up to well past sundown.
So with it being, you glanced at the clock, eight in the morning, and you were still in bed, you felt worse for wear.
“Hey,” Shane had made his way back into the bedroom, holding a steaming mug, and you realized that you weren’t able to smell whatever it was he brought you, “Stop overthinking.”
You frowned as he sat next to you, placing the mug on the table, “You a mind reader now?”
“No,” He soothed your hair from your face, his palm soft and warm against your face, “I just know my spouse a little too well.”
You huffed, the closest you could get to laughing without it hurting your head. He tapped your nose once, twice. You blinked, the action jarring each time. He laughed quietly.
“You work hard every single day, every season. It’s a miracle you haven’t fallen sick before.” He frowned, “Well, I suppose, it’s a miracle you haven’t gotten sick since we’ve been married.”
That was true. Before, when you had lived alone, you always pushed yourself. You felt like an outsider, having to do more to prove your worth in this town. You had often worked despite not being able to breathe through your nose or see straight.
Now, you had Shane, who stopped you before you had even made it out of your home.
“You’re allowed to take time off,” He leaned forward, pressing a soft kiss to your forehead, lingering there a moment before pulling back, “I don’t wanna get a call from Harvey cause someone found you passed out in the mines, okay? You rest, I’ll take care of you.”
Oh.
“I don’t fuckin’ need you here,” You knew his words were harsh, but there was no bite behind his voice.
He sounded sad, he sounded angry, so many emotions but none truly directed at you. You merely hummed, putting your bag down. He glared at you from his bed, a look you hadn’t been on the receiving end of for quite a while now.
“ ‘m serious,” He made no move to sit up or shift in bed, eyes tired and droopy, “Just let me sit here.”
“The crops have been growing quite well this season,” You started talking, pulling out a few containers from your bag, some still warm food you’d cooked earlier today, “I’m rather proud of them. Haley’s happy I have a little sunflower garden going this season, said she’d been decorating her room with vases of them. But you know what I’m most proud of this season?”
You turned around, holding up a blue container, Shane’s silence and unwavering stare your only response, “Got some good hot peppers going this summer,” You placed the container on the bedside table, turning away to grab some utensils you had packed, missing the way Shane’s eyebrows rose, the angry front dropping as he sat up, seeing freshly made pepper poppers sat next to him.
“I had to get Marnie to try them, ‘cause I’m still rusty with cooking,” You snorted, remembering the mess that was your kitchen after you tried baking a simple cake for the first time, “But she said I had all but perfected the recipe by now, so hopefully you can—”
You turned around, words dying in your throat as you saw silent tears falling down Shane’s cheeks, holding the container and staring at it as if it held all the answers he’d ever needed.
“Shane?”
He looked up, eyes searching your face, scanning and looking for something. He cleared his throat, “Why— why did…”
Oh. You knelt down next to his bed, feeling tears fill your own eyes, “I meant what I told you before, Shane. You’re my friend, and I care about you. You have so many people here who do, and I know that going through all of this is going to be hard, and I just need to show you that I’ll be here with you, every step you allow me to.”
He snorted, covering his face, hiding away as best as he could, “It’s just— I’m so tired. Of all of these. Of feeling like this,” His hand dropped enough that you could see his bloodshot eyes, tears still falling, “I’m so tired.”
You took his other hand, “You rest, I’ll take care of you.”
You must have been staring for a bit, cause you watched as heat slowly made it’s way across your husband’s cheeks, “What?”
“Nothing,” You whispered, leaning back further into the soft cocoon of your sheets and pillows, “I just love you, that’s all.”
No matter how many times you said it, those little words are ones Shane would never grow tired of. He sighed, watching as you slowly fell back into unconsciousness.
“I love you too,” He leaned across to pet Miso, “I thank Yoba everyday that you mover here.”
honestly, smash.

Camellia Station officially has over 500 hits!
I know that’s not indicative of people who read it in full or individual, unique users or whatever
Still though… it feels like a huge milestone and I’m proud of myself 🥹

Joja Workers Unite (Sam/Shane)
Since Shane and Sam can't unionize to get more time off they decide to do the next best thing: get married.
Of course, nothing goes to plan.
"I know our love is unconventional," Sam said, loud enough that half the store could've heard him. "But please, I want you to make an honest man out of me!"
Shane realized too late that Sam was only half looking at him. The other man's eyes scanned the aisle at Shane's back. And too late Shane realized there were footsteps coming towards them.
"Gentlemen, is there a problem here?" The sight of Morris, arms crossed and scowling, waited for Shane when he turned around.
"No issues. We're just--" Shane started, but Sam bumped him aside.
"I'm heartbroken, bossman! I know I'm being loud but my heart has literally shattered. My man doesn't want to claim me!" Sam gestured to Shane with both arms.
"And this is something you need to do at work because--?"
"Love knows no time or place," Sam said with a soft sniffle. "When the spirit of love calls, you answer. And Shane answered with a 'no'."
"Samson, I have no idea what that means and quite frankly I'm losing my patience," Morris deadpanned.
"He won't marry me, boss! My work hubs won't put a shell on it!"
"This is startling news for so many reasons," Morris said. "Not least of which is that Joja discourages employee fraternization."
"Well I have no idea what that means!" Sam was getting more worked up by the minute.
Their conversation went around in circles for a while longer and Shane couldn't be bothered to follow it. Shane started coming around somewhere in there, though, because some time off wouldn't be the worst thing. Most of his PTO had been spent nursing colds or sleeping off hangovers. He rarely used the time off for anything fun. Maybe he could take Jas on vacation? She'd been bugging him to go to the beach to collect shells, too, even though it was cold. They could do both with the time fake marrying Sam would buy him.
Shane cleared his throat. The two men stopped bickering and stared at him.
"Sam... uh... Samson? Yeah. Okay." He took a steadying breath before he faced Sam head-on. "I can see now that you're so passionate about... our love? I didn't think you were serious, but now I know... Now... yeah, I do know. So I accept your proposal."

I had such high hopes for how much I would write this week.
But then I discovered Look Outside and put like 15 hours into that instead.
And my first Rarepair week fic ballooned out of my control.
Life amirite
I may or may not have something to shamelessly plug:
Camellia Station
(Elliott/Shane fic, at 26k words now and going strong, strangers to lovers!)
the below confession was submitted off anon (its a long one):
can someone hear me out on shelliott? (shane/elliott)
they have actually been consuming my thoughts ever since i first started playing. at first i thought combining their dynamics would be funny, but guys.. i dont think its a joke anymore,, ...
IN ALL SERIOUSNESS PLEASE HEAR ME OUT
elliott moved to stardew valley for a change. shane has been living here for ages, living an endless cycle of deprivation and misery (in short, he has not felt change). he meets elliott, who of course is glad and excited to life a new life, whereas shane'll live the same old routine. like w the farmer, shane would be extremely cold to elliott, pushing him away because he sorta pisses him off with his sunny aura and all that, but as all things go, elliott is eager to know more about him, and boom.
shane 2 heart event but theyre at the beach. elliott happens to pass by the guy, sat on the docks south of the beach surrounded by an 8-pack of beer. shane tells him how he feels, and elliott realizes why shane acts the way he is — rude, annoyed, pissy — because he can't seem to catch a break from helplessness.
he understands it, both in a sympathetic and in an aesthetic way — not aesthetic as in he romanticizes it, but rather sees the beauty in such an ugly feeling — and he listens, even if he can't help in the way shane needs it. he listens because he could.
i also really just cant get over the events that could happen during shanes 6 heart event. BECAUSE??
shane asks him why he shouldn't roll off that ledge at that moment. elliott, face soaking wet from both the rain and his tears, tells him it's because the world would mourn those who don't live long enough to realize living is to love. and from shane's point of view, elliott is the world.
all this include these hcs too:
adamant and persistent x given up w life and distant
LOVER X THINKS HES UNLOVEABLE !!!!!
sees the beauty in life x sees the ugliness
elliott's demure nature changes when he witnesses shane at his lowest
shane thinks elliott's romantic schtick is a whole lotta nonsense, but he slowly warms up to it and eventually indulges on his own
overall shane just being in denial because he fell for elliott's cheesy romantic shit. "no way in hell am i gonna like that guy with his long swoopy hair... and his weirdly kind way with words... and oddly comforting aura... and... FUCK"
anyway i hope this spreads my shelliott propaganda. SDV FIC WRITERS PLEASE WRITE MORE SHELLIOTT‼️‼️

Someone else was with her and Shane couldn't bear to look at him in anything other than a side glance. Elliott wore a somber smile as he stepped forward and held out his parting gifts. A composition book, not one of the kinds with metal spiral binding, but one stitched together on the inside. The other was a leather-bound copy of some old book that Shane didn't read the title of because he was too embarrassed to be getting gifts at all.
"Thanks. Uhm… super thoughtful," Shane said as he set his bag down, took the books, then rubbed the back of his neck with his free hand.
"My pleasure. I'm… we're all very proud of you, Shane. This path is a thorny one to walk, but you have the strength to see it to the end. I believe that whole-heartedly."
"Fuck's sake," he huffed, eyes stinging.
The past four days already left him feeling like an exposed nerve end. Three days in the clinic to detox and wait out a 72-hour hold, one spent at home so he could pack while his paperwork got approved. Harvey worked quick to make sure there was a bed ready for him at a six week program in Zuzu. Shane suspected the good doctor planned for this well in advance.
Now he stood here, belly full of pancakes Marnie helped Jas make, and had to endure an unexpected going away party. They might be there to actually see him off or they could be there to make sure he didn't walk in front of the train. Maybe both. Probably both.
Emily got the balloons off the basket's handle and pressed it into Shane's open hand. He had to readjust his things, stuffed the books into his bag so he could get out his ticket when the train came. Once that was settled, Emily pulled him into a big bear hug. He froze, stunned for a moment that she was hugging him at all and that she was so damn strong. Then he returned the hug with as much strength as he could muster. Over her shoulder, he met Elliott's eyes and held them for a moment before looking away.
"When did you start lifting steel beams for fun? What the hell?" He asked, wheezing a little for effect.
She pulled away, took a step back and wiped her eyes as she giggled.
"You'd be surprised what carrying kegs around can do for a girl."
Shane picked up his bag, felt the extra weight of his gifts in it. Felt the extra weight of other people's expectations. Or maybe it was their genuine good will? As he looked between the two of them, Shane honestly wasn't sure what was better or worse.
Was he suppose to say something now? Make a speech or cry or gush about how much their support meant? He had no idea how to behave and it didn't look like they did, either. At least he wasn't the only one who wasn't equipped for this kind of thing. The three stood in relative silence, Emily only chiming in now and then with a word of encouragement or a remark about how the fog started to clear up.
Elliott tried to keep up the conversation, but it kept petering out, returning them back to uneasy quiet periodically. But Shane appreciated his effort. He appreciated Emily's, too, but Elliott held more weight in his mind right now. After all the weird shit that went on between them since the Spring, it continued to amaze him that the guy would keep showing up. That Shane kept wanting him to show up.
Faint anxiety stirred in Shane's chest. It occurred to him that Elliott might use Shane's stint in rehab as an excuse to put some distance between them. It was his life, sure, but the thought that Elliott might choose to stop coming around made Shane nervous in a way he couldn't quite understand. It was like the feeling he had right before he got the results from all the x-rays and CT scans when they were trying to figure out if he could play gridball again. Like something bad that he never anticipated was just around the corner.
A train horn sounded in the distance. Almost time.
He decided to see what a little courage might feel like.
the concept of the farmer being a literal anomaly to the townspeople bc of their in-game features and add-ons will always b so funny to me. so heres a little silly doodle i made.
An assortment of various video game characters :3
oh dear i think i've come up with another idea:
a weird crossover between hotel dusk and stardew valley
how would hyde end up in stardew valley? idk maybe he finds a letter from his grandpa or somethin kinda like in sdv
maybe he gets sick of workin for red crown, and decides "fuck it, i'm gonna be a farmer now."
Probably takes place sometime in the mid-80's, putting him in his late-30's to early-40's.
could also take place in 1981, since Cape West apartments have closed down and he needs a place to go, he finds the letter, and then decides to go, since he's got some closure with different aspects of his life, and probably wants to try somethin new.
maybe he offers to take mila with him, since she'd probably have finished college by that time (if mid-80s)
i think she'd go, idk
i think hyde would end up with either harvey, shane, or elliott.
With harvey, i think he'd get annoyed with him telling hyde to take better care of himself, and to be careful in the mines
with shane, i think he'd dislike shane at first, since he's kind of an asshole (but hyde's a bit of an asshole too, so it's kinda like a bit of a feud between them). But he eventually comes around, and they find that they some stuff in common idk
with elliott, he'd probably get real annoyed with the flowery speech and what he perceives as a pompous demeanor. But idk maybe he realizes that elliott isn't as annoying as martin summer, and isn't a cowardly fraud like summer. hyde probably has a bias against writers because of that lol.
also i'd bet hyde would really like joja cola, since i'm pretty sure he says that he's addicted to cool pop in last window.
i really wanna make a new game and play as hyde lol, but i also wanna wait til 1.6 is released on console (c'mon concernedape, it's been six months exactly, how much longer do we have to wait T_T).
I have a cross stitch portrait of Shane sitting on my desk, so I'm constantly looking at my husband :3
I love my depressed chicken man sm
Also heres the shitty lil pattern I made in case anyone wants it :)
Here's some headcanon stuff before i get to the depressing shit
Leon is 5'5", and Shane is 5'6" (funnily enough, leon was made to be short because i wanted him to be slightly shorter than shane, and i've always headcanoned shane as 5'6")
Neither one can cook. Leon has literally burnt down his kitchen before.
Leon is 27, and Shane is 34
Leon is horrible with kids, but Shane is surprisingly good with them (it's cause he tries to be a good uncle to jas)
Leon doesn't understand a thing about gridball, but it's fine cause shane loves to ramble and explain it.
Shane is transmasc, and uses he/they pronouns.
Leon uses he/him pronouns.
Shane wears exclusively crocs, even at work. It drives leon insane (he despises crocs).
Leon and Shane are both slobs, and it drives Leon's bodyguard Phillip (who also lives with them) fucking nuts. (phil is a part of their relationship, but i want to focus on leon and shane's dynamic here. i'll eventually make a post about a phil x shane dynamic)
Leon is somehow still a certified accountant (even after getting fired from his last job for accused fraud. he was set up tho), and handles the finances for the farm, and deals with tax stuff. He often rambles about accountant stuff to Shane, who doesn't understand a lick of it.
Leon is allergic to cats, but they still keep a cat around the farm.
Leon's full name is Leonard Valentine Locke. DO NOT call him Leonard, he despises his full name.
^ This is leon :3
^ this is his sdv sprite i made :3 (pixel art is a pain in the ass in procreate btw T_T)
ok sad shit below this, read at your own risk.
So shane has always been a big influence on my oc, Leon (it was mostly subconscious, I didn't realize Leon was so similar to Shane until a couple of months ago)
They're both suicidally depressed and alcoholics, and both struggle with their sense of self-worth.
I believe that Shane drinks because he lost two close friends who meant a lot to him (Jas' parents), and didn't know how to deal with the grief. He'd already had a bit of an issue with alcohol before, but nothing like it would become.
Leon drinks because he had a shit childhood and a shit life. He hates himself, and struggles with major depression. He's on antidepressants, and meds for bipolar 2, which react poorly with the alcohol, worsening his symptoms, and making him heavily suicidal. He always had a problem with alcohol, but it became significantly worse when he shot and killed his father. While it was self-defense, his now boss, Zalu Merriweather, used it against him to get Leon to work for them. That sent Leon into a downward spiral, and he ended up nearly dying multiple times.
He ended up in Stardew Valley with his bodyguard, Phillip, because of some lore thing idk. what happens in stardew valley isn't canon to my story, so i haven't put too much though as to why Leon ends up there lmao
But Leon finds shane, and they are two drunk peas in a pod. They get along well, (perhaps too well), and are both worsening the other's alcoholism, since Shane now has a drinking buddy, and leon thinks shane's hot af, but leon prefers to be drunk when he sleeps with someone.
Then shane's six-heart event rolls around, and leon doesn't want to shane to end up like him. Shane decides he's going to get his shit together.
Leon doesn't get sober yet, tho. He's still drinking and struggling, but with Shane now being sober, he doesn't want to be a bad influence.
Eventually, shane and phil are able to help leon give up alcohol.
Leon gives it up entirely, but Shane is able to have a few beers every now and then.
Leon gains weight after quitting alcohol, and it really fucks with him. He had an ED when he was younger, and has bad body dysmorphia. Seeing his body become "ugly" by his standards almost makes Leon relapse, but he works through it.
