it is also really annoying because Nina is presented as really attractive and desirable throughout the books when plus size people are far too often presented as ugly and something to be pitied because they don’t attract many if any romantic or sexual interests
when people draw Nina skinny, it really just shows how many people can’t fathom the idea of a proper size person being viewed as attractive
It makes me genuinely sad when people draw our queen Nina Zenik skinny. We already have so little plussize representation and when we do, it's usually comedic relief. Not Nina. She's a character with depth, she's confident, she's not ashamed to love food, her friends are worried about her when she doesn't eat due to parem, they're happy for her when she finally starts eating again, she's a powerful character. AND PEOPLE DRAW HER SKINNY. Like...to every plussize art there are like 30 skinny arts. Please for the love of Saints, don't do this lol
Nagayuki: “What’s the easiest way to steal a man’s wallet?”
Usagi: “Knife to the throat?”
Inoshishi: “Gun to the back?”
Niwatori: “Poison in his cup?”
Sharyu: “You’re all horrible.”
— quote: Kaz, Inej, Jesper, Nina and Matthias from “Six of Crows” by Leigh Bardugo
The Crows as the 14 fear entities from TMA
Kaz: the Buried, the Slaughter, the Web
Inej: the Vast, the Dark
Jesper: the Spiral, the Eye
Wylan: the Desolation, the Stranger
Nina: the End, the Corruption, the Flesh
Matthias: the Hunt, the Lonely
Important Anouncment:
In the german dub, when Jesper lies on top of Wylan, he doesn't say "you got me waffles", he literally says "you baked waffles for me"
Jesper, how tf do you forget someone who you not only slept with but who also actually sat down cooked for you?? Ffs
So you know how in the show they say that Grisha need to touch their hands before they can use their powers right? And we alwalys see that, especially with the heartrenders.
But you know who never does that and can still use his power? Jesper. The boy who was never formally trained to use his powers.
Now my theory is that Grisha need to do a little ritual or movement to 'kickstart' their powers. And all the Grisha who get trained, learn this movement where they touch their hands. So they need to do this, which is why Nina can't do anything when she is a captive on the ship.
But Jesper taught himself, mostly. So he subconsciously came up with his own ritual, the gun twirling. We see him do that constantly. It is especially visible during his face off with Ivan. Before every shot, he twirls his guns on his fingers.
I have no idea where I am going with this, I just think it's interesting that they don't actually have touch their hands, their kickstarter could be whatever.
I still think they should have let Kaz kill someone in the first season. Just, like, as a treat for him and to establish his character to all the non-readers
Season 2 of shadow and bone was like one of those insanely tall cartoon sandwiches- lots of good stuff in there but how in the hell am I meant to jam that thing into my face in one go
I’m sorry I ruined your life and pillaged your village, ok?? That’s just how I flirt
He wanted to ask for a billion, but he didn't want to prove inej right (greed is your god scene)
We talk a lot about 30 million kruge, because of course we do, but we don’t mention often enough that the original offer was FIVE. It took Kaz one conversation to get it from five million to twenty million, and then he demanded thirty anyway. I love him.
#2) Kaz

1# MATTHIAS
I’m rewatching the Hunger Games, which means you all have to see as I throw yet another HG AU into the world. No, there are not enough already.
Kaz Brekker won his games at 13 years old. He’d volunteered for his brother, Jordie. Jordie had been 17, just about to age out of Reaping age. And yet, his name had been called when those papers were drawn from that stupid glass bowl. Kaz’s name had been in there 53 times, Jordie’s only 10. Despite being the runt of the litter, even in the Barrel District, Kaz had volunteered. And he’d won. He fought like a wild dog, with his nails and teeth. When they pulled him out and crowned him Victor, he’d thought at very least that he’d be going home to his brother. That all of it would have been worth it. He arrived back home to an empty house and an unmarked grave. He’d torn the house to pieces, leaving hardly more than its four walls intact. It had been home for a Victor, and Kaz hadn’t felt like he’d won much of anything. He became a mentor after that, and a good one too. But the Capitol never did quite trust him.
Inej Ghafa won her Games the following year. She was Kaz’s first tribute; although she had not technically been born in his District, her name had been reaped all the same. She had refused to fight, those first few days in the training center. Kaz hadn’t forced her. But he showed her what would happen to her if she chose not to fight. Recordings of the Games were kept for tributes to study, and he had not spared her any detail, had not allowed her to look away from the screen. She agreed to learn how to use a knife after that. She spent most of her Games hiding. Well, maybe that wasn’t the right word. She was not hiding, not out of fear, she was stalking. Tributes would fall with silver knives sticking from their throats, knives that had seemingly come from nowhere. She’d suffered at the hands of the Capitol after being crowned Victor. No one could deny the Capitol their darling.
Jesper Fahey was Kaz’s second tribute. A farm boy with a knack for shooting. There were no guns in the Games, that’d make it too easy, but he could shoot an arrow well enough. Kaz trained him hard, even harder than he’d trained Inej. Because while Inej could rely on her ability to disappear, Jesper was difficult to hide. The Capitol enjoyed his charismatic jokes, which helped Kaz get him enough sponsorships to win him the Games. The life of a Victor didn’t suit him and his father, but the gambling halls kept his mind off the memories.
Nina Zenik was the District One tribute during the following year, which happened to be a Quarter Quell. She was trained to kill since she was a child. They’d supressed her powers before letting her loose in the arena. It would be unfair to put a Grisha against Otkazat'sya. Not that she’d needed luck. A begrudging alliance formed between the careers, just like every other year. But this year was different. This year, the last two standing, regardless of district, would go home Victors. She’d taken a liking to Matthias Helvar, despite the fact that he seemed very keen on betraying her, and was determined to win with him by her side.
Matthias Helvar was the District Two tribute during the Quarter Quell. He’d been trained to leave no survivors, regardless of District. The Quarter Quell would allow two Victors, and he was determined to go home with the second District Two tribute. He didn’t know her, but she was Fjerdan, he didn’t need to know her. Allowing Nina to watch his back, he’d planned to betray her once the numbers had dwindled. He hadn’t calculated falling for the District One tribute. They were both crowned Victor, and became mentors in their respective Districts. Matthias avoided Nina as much as he could, the guilt of losing his district partner to save the life of a Grisha weighing heavily on his shoulders.
Wylan Van Eck was Capitol-born through and through. He had grown up oblivious to the struggles of the Districts. But when he had been deemed a disappointment by his father, he was forced into becoming a stylist for the Games. He worked with the tributes from the Barrel District. As a stylist, he was forced to watch the Games, watch the violence and brutality. He’d watch alongside Kaz as the tributes fell. If the Bastard of the Barrel was feeling particularly charitable, he’d tell Wylan when to close his eyes and avoid the worst of it. He wanted the Games gone, but with a Gamemaker as a father, he didn’t have much of a choice but to do what he was told, unless he wanted to end up in the arena too.
He's just jealous
Is it just me or Kaz is carrying out a petty revenge
Ferdinand and Nina = Nina and Matthais. Matthias is the bull, Nina's well, Nina.
Why do I think so? Nina from 'Ferdinand' spends the whole movie trying to convince everyone that Ferdinand is not a monster and not like other bulls (who would and could kill people)
Nina from SoC spends her time trying to prove matty innocent and when she meets Zoya and the other Grisha she tries to tell them Matthias is not like the drüskelle any more. Show!Nina also tells Zoya that Matthias is not just a slab of fur
Conclusion : go re-watch 'Ferdinand' (the 2017/2018 vers)
Should I do all the crows? I've done Kaz. I have Jesper and Wylan ready.

Hi!
In honour of one whole year of shadow and bone season two being released, I wrote a fanfic about Kaz and his daughter, Adjala.
And Adjala fell in love with Pekka Rollins' son Elijah and Kaz never accepted it so she eloped. And years later he finds her, as it was Inej's last wish, and Adjala's a medick with her clinic and her husband runs a bakery.
And Adjala has twins, Kazim and Nina
That's all the context y'all need to know
**************
As I sat beside Adjala on the porch, the weight of years of separation hung heavy in the air. She leaned into me, her presence a comforting reminder of the bond that had endured despite the passage of time. But as I felt her warmth beside me, a wave of overwhelming emotion threatened to engulf me, and I couldn't hold back the tears that welled in my eyes.
Adjala turned to me, concern etched in her features. "What's wrong, Papa?" she asked softly, her voice a soothing balm to the ache in my heart.
I pulled her closer, enveloping her in a tight embrace. "You're still Papa's little princess, right?" I whispered, the words catching in my throat as years of pent-up emotions threatened to spill over.
Adjala hugged me back, her touch a gentle reminder of the innocence of childhood that still lingered within her. "Always, Papa," she murmured, her voice filled with a love that transcended words.
As I held my daughter close, a flood of memories washed over me – memories of her laughter echoing through the halls of our home, of her tiny hand clasped in mine as we walked through the streets of Ketterdam, of the fierce determination in her eyes as she faced the challenges of the world.
But amidst the memories, there was a painful realization – that I had missed out on so much, that I had been absent during pivotal moments in her life, that I had let her down in ways that I could never fully make amends for.
Tears streamed down my cheeks as I buried my face in Adjala's hair, the scent of jasmine and home wrapping around me like a comforting embrace. "I'm sorry, Adjala," I whispered, the words choked with emotion. "I'm so sorry for everything."
Adjala's arms tightened around me, her touch a silent reassurance that forgiveness was within reach, that our bond was unbreakable despite the trials we had faced. "It's okay, Papa," she whispered, her voice a soothing melody in the darkness. "We're together now, and that's all that matters."
Adjala's words hung in the air, a surprising revelation that broke through the heaviness of our shared confession. She always did have a penchant to ease tension. "Elijah takes Nina on daddy-daughter dates. Like you would take me," she said, her voice tinged with a hint of amusement.
I couldn't help but choke on a laugh at the unexpected turn of conversation. "Remember our first daddy-daughter date?" I asked, a smile tugging at the corners of my lips as memories of that day flooded back.
Adjala laughed, a sound so pure and infectious that it lifted the weight from my shoulders, if only for a moment. "Of course I do," she replied, her eyes sparkling with fond remembrance.
I leaned back against the porch railing, a playful glint in my eyes as I began to describe that unforgettable day. "We went to the park, just the two of us," I said, my voice filled with nostalgia. "You were so small, holding onto my hand with all your might as we walked through the gates."
Adjala nodded, her smile widening at the memory. "And you pushed me on the swings," she added, her laughter tinkling like wind chimes in the breeze.
I chuckled, the image of her tiny form soaring through the air etched into my mind forever. "And then we had a picnic," I continued, painting a vivid picture of that sunny afternoon. "You insisted on feeding the ducks, even though you were more interested in eating the bread yourself. No wonder you were a chubby little thing."
Adjala's laughter rang out, a melody that warmed my heart and chased away the shadows of regret. "And then we went for ice cream," she said, her eyes dancing with mirth. "I got chocolate all over my face, and you pretended not to notice."
I nodded, a smile playing on my lips as I recalled the sight of her sticky fingers and chocolate-stained cheeks. "It was the best day," I said, my voice filled with a father's pride and affection.
Adjala's laughter filled the air, a sound so infectious that it was impossible not to join in. "I asked for more funnel cakes, and you asked 'how many?' And I said ten, and you got them for me," she exclaimed, her eyes sparkling with mischief as she recounted the memory. "And we ate until I threw up."
I chuckled, the image of her tiny self covered in sprinkles and giggles etched into my mind. "Your mother was so mad," I said, shaking my head with mock solemnity.
Adjala laughed even harder, her laughter ringing out like music in the night. "She was!" she exclaimed, her voice filled with fondness and affection. "But you just laughed and said we could always get more ice cream."
I nodded, a smile playing on my lips as I recalled the sight of Inej's exasperated expression and my own inability to suppress a laugh at the chaos we had caused. "It was worth it," I replied, my voice tinged with nostalgia. "For that smile on your face."
Adjala grinned, her laughter fading into a soft smile that mirrored her mother's. "I love you, Papa," she said, her words a gentle reminder of the bond that bound us together, through laughter and tears, sprinkles and ice cream.
And as we sat there, basking in the warmth of shared memories and the love that flowed between us, I knew that no matter what life threw our way, we would always have each other, to laugh with, to cry with, and to cherish for all eternity.

Anyway should I write out Kaz's and Adjala's daddy daughter date?
Some fanart I drew, the lighting ain't good tho
Some Inej Ghafa fanart it did while I was on study break
The ink symbolises hurt and like this is her during the bathroom scene
And there's the Menagerie's tattoo on the back I thought this would be a nice touch
The ink on her feet is a throwback to Matthias' first chapters in six of crows where he describes inej as a ghostly demon with light feet.
And the smeared ink in the background is her Lynx spots and the ink on her hands is blood.
And the straps on her legs is where she keeps her knives but she doesn't have her knives
The blue necklace is the one from the show, for a nice touch
Hope y'all like it

since y'all loved my other uncle kaz headcannons sm, heres a pt two,
ps the kids mums name is adjala and dads name is elijah.
The Fainting Uncle: When Adjala goes into labor and Kaz is present in the room, he's initially composed, giving Adjala reassuring nods and words of encouragement. However, when he catches sight of the baby crowning, he turns a shade paler than his usual self and promptly faints. The midwives tend to him while Adjala rolls her eyes, muttering, "saints kaz"
The Baby's Name: Adjala decides to name her newborn son after her beloved older brother, Kaz. She names him Kaz Jr., partly as a tribute and partly to amuse herself with the idea of two Kazs in the family.
Kaz, the Doting Uncle: From the moment Kaz Jr. is born, Kaz takes his role as the baby's uncle incredibly seriously. He insists on holding the baby at every opportunity and is often seen carrying him around like a prized possession.
"My Little Investment": Kaz affectionately refers to Kaz Jr. as his "little investment." He's determined to educate the baby early on about the world of finance and heists. While other babies are being read fairy tales, Kaz is explaining the intricacies of stock markets and the art of the perfect heist.
Baby-Sitting Extraordinaire: Kaz eagerly volunteers to babysit Kaz Jr. whenever Adjala and Elijah need a break. He sets up elaborate baby-proofed rooms filled with educational toys and books about economics.
Parenting Advice: Kaz doesn't hesitate to give Adjala and Elijah unsolicited parenting advice. He'll lecture them about the importance of diversifying their baby's nutrition (he's already planning a menu with a variety of baby foods), and he's convinced that baby Kaz Jr. should have a secure financial future from day one.
Stock Market Bedtime Stories: Instead of traditional bedtime stories, Kaz regales Kaz Jr. with tales of stock market successes and legendary heists. The baby may not understand it all yet, but he's learning to recognize his uncle's voice and find comfort in those stories.
Playdates with Inej: Inej becomes Kaz Jr.'s honorary aunt, and she and Kaz plan playdates filled with activities that are a blend of physical fitness, stealth training, and finance lessons. They're convinced the baby will grow up to be a financial genius with ninja-like agility.
Protective Uncle Mode: Kaz can't help but be overprotective of Kaz Jr. He's been through too much in his own life, and he's determined to shield his nephew from the harshness of the world. He's the uncle who insists on the sturdiest crib, the safest car seat, and the most secure locks on the doors.
Family Bonding: Despite his eccentricities, Kaz's love for Kaz Jr. is unwavering. He sees the baby as a symbol of hope and a chance for a brighter future. Through all the stock market talks and heist stories, there's a genuine and deep bond forming between the two, one that will last a lifetime.
I can't get enough of the Brother/uncle Kaz headcannons. So here r some more.
But this time, it's about Kaz third wheeling Elijah Rollins (Adjala's lover aka my oc) and Adjala (Kaz's sistet aka my oc).
1. Kaz, the Eternal Third Wheel: Kaz often finds himself unintentionally third-wheeling when spending time with Adjala and Elijah. Whether it's a romantic dinner or a simple walk in the park, he somehow manages to always be there, lurking in the shadows.
2. Awkward Interruptions: Kaz has a knack for walking in at the most inopportune moments. Whenever Adjala and Elijah share a tender moment, steal a kiss or are making out, Kaz's impeccable timing ensures that he witnesses it all. His reaction? A dramatic sigh and an eye roll or cursing on his way out.
3. Secretly Ships Them: Despite his gruff exterior, Kaz secretly ships Adjala and Elijah and can't help but playfully tease them about their affectionate moments. He might toss a coin their way and quip, "Buy yourselves a room, you two."
4. Reluctant Babysitter: Whenever Adjala and Elijah need a break from their parental duties, they know they can count on Kaz to babysit Jordan, Johannes and Kaz jr. Kaz's (aka the og) tough love approach makes for some amusing stories of the kids outsmarting him.
5. Inadvertent Matchmaker: Kaz unintentionally becomes a matchmaker for the couple. He might arrange "accidental" encounters or conveniently forget to mention that the other is coming over, leading to amusing situations.
6. Kaz's Relationship Advice: Kaz occasionally offers unsolicited relationship advice to Adjala and Elijah, which they usually find amusing. His advice often involves strategies for heists and scams, much to their amusement.
7. The Mournful Violin (ft. Nina's singing, Jesper's horrible violin skills and Matthias' bleeding eardrums): Jesper once jokingly complained that his violin playing and Nina's singing duet was so horrifying that it drove couples apart. And Matthias could barely hear anything over their duet, so Kaz had him learn to play harmonica horribly. Now, whenever Adjala and Elijah go out in a romantic date on the roof of the Slat, Kaz will have Jesper dramatically pull out his violin and play a mournful tune, dramatically out of key, and have Nina duet to it, while Matthias plays the harmonica horribly in the background, always causing Adjala to face palm and Elijah to stuff tissues into his ears. *They carry around ear plugs now*. (rip Matty and Elijah's ear drums xoxo)
8. Impromptu Counselling (ft. Therapist Wylan) : Kaz occasionally finds himself in the role of an impromptu couples' counselor, alongside wylan, always listening to their relationship woes and offering his unique perspective on love and loyalty.
9. Kaz's "I Told You So" Moments: When disagreements arise between Adjala and Elijah, Kaz is always ready with an "I told you so" or "You should have listened to me." It's all in good fun, of course. (Except for that one time Elijah got Adjala pregnant)
10. The mom friend (ft. Inej) : Kaz embraces his role as the mom friend of the family (taught by urs truly Inej ofc), offering a different perspective on life and love. He might say, "You two enjoy your domestic bliss; I'll be out here in the shadows, counting my crows." And he jokes be grudgingly so that inej laughs.
That's pretty much it Lol.
I write a fanfiction about Kaz having a sister in Wattpad, named Adjala Brekker. And I just got the craziest idea. Kaz is always the baby sitter for Adjala's kids so why not write headcannons?
So I just made a few headcannons about Kaz babysitting his niece Jordan, and his two nephews Johannes and Kaz jr.
( Everytime you see a mom approved, it means the kids' mother approves of the activity )
1. "Uncle Kaz's House of Schemes": Kaz turns babysitting into a series of elaborate games and puzzles for the kids. It's like a mini heist every time they visit, complete with clues and riddles to keep them entertained. (Mum approved)
2. Kaz's version of "nap time" is "quiet planning time": When it's time for the kids to take a nap, Kaz uses this opportunity to quietly plan his next big scheme. He's convinced they're the perfect cover for his brainstorming sessions. (Mum approved)
3. Candy heist training: Kaz teaches the kids the fine art of candy heists, complete with disguises, diversion tactics, and a secret candy stash. They're the most resourceful trick-or-treaters in Ketterdam. (Mum not approved)
4. The "Ingenious Bedtime Routine": Kaz has a knack for getting kids to bed without fuss. His secret? He tells them thrilling stories about his heists until they're too excited to stay awake. (Mum approved)
5. Tiny suits and dresses: Kaz insists that the kids wear tiny suits and dresses, just like him, when they go out together. It's a comical sight seeing them dressed as miniature versions of him. (Hehe definitely mum approved)
6. Teaching the art of negotiation: Kaz imparts his negotiating skills to the kids, coaching them on how to haggle with street vendors for the best deals on toys and treats. They quickly become savvy little traders. They negotiate with daddy alot too, and their daddy always falls for this (Their dad hates this, so mum approved)
7. The "Kaz Jr. Inheritance Fund": Kaz secretly sets up a savings account for each of the kids, earmarking it as their "inheritance." He insists they learn about managing their finances from an early age. (Uncle Jes and Mumma approved)
8. "The Kaz Bunker" (my fav) : In the event of a "Kaz-sized emergency," he's built a secret bunker (a well-fortified blanket fort) in the living room. It's the perfect hiding spot for epic pillow fights and strategizing. (There's photo evidence -Inej) [mum approved - Kaz's sister]
9. Poker night (ft. Uncle jes, Daddy and uncle Wy) : Kaz introduces the kids to poker night, using candies as chips. It's all in good fun until Jesper's uncanny ability to bluff leaves Kaz Jr and Johannes with an empty stash of candy, while Jordie has a whole lot to herself. Wylan always gives his candy to Kaz jr in the end. Elijah (the kids' dad) sits their and sticks his tongue out to his brother in-law whenever he wins, only to me met by the Lethal Brekker sibling glower. (The mother doesn't aprove of this, their dad does tho)
10. Lessons in lockpicking (childproof, of course): Kaz teaches the kids the basics of lockpicking, with a set of child-friendly locks and tools. They think it's just a game, but it's secretly a life skill. (The parents don't aprove since candy is always being stolen from the kitchen)
11. Kaz and naps : when the kids' parents get back from date night of smth, they see uncle Kaz and the kids in the Kaz Bunker fort, or all of them on the ground, surrounded my toys and Kaz is laying flat on his stomach and Kaz jr is snoozing on top of him and Jordan and Johannes are snoozing in the corner. This, ladies and gentlemen, is how the bastard of the barrel gets his sleep. (Inej has photo evidence) [Daddy and mumma approved]
12: Lifeskills (ft. Uncle Matty, aunty 'nej and aunty Ninny) : so Kaz gets his gang together to preach Lifeskills to his nephews and niece. Uncle Matty adores the mini demjins. Aunty 'nej takes them in sea trips (Aunty ninny brings the snacks) [ pappa and mumma approved]
13. Shark stare classes 101: in which Kaz teaches his little trainees the signature bombastic side eye and shark like stare, along with the lethal Brekker glower, which always has the kids' dad running for the HILLS, cuz they look like his scary wife and terrifying brother in law. (Daddy and Mumma approved ladies and gentlemen)
