My eldest son Zain's first year at school was a joy for his school, friends and teachers. His life was like the life of any child who dreams of everything beautiful.
My second son, Yahya, was in his first year of kindergarten,and he would wake up early, happy to go to his friends and play.
Or do they now wake up to the sounds of planes and explosions and feel ashamed when they stand in line to get food or water? A terrible difference between our lives in the past and the present. A year between our stable life and the life of war, no education, no games, no life, no security, and no source of income. How long, world, where is humanity, where are the rights of my children? On this day a year ago, my children were on their way to school and suddenly they heard the sounds of missiles and continuous explosions. They returned home scared and terrified. None of us knew what was happening. We felt like we had lost our lives, and that is what happened. We lost our home and everything we owned in a moment. It was the beginning of the nightmare. The house disappeared with all its details and their dreams. Even their toys turned to ashes. They destroyed their childhood!!
Since that day until now, we don't know how long we haven't had a day of rest. Death follows us all the time. We have escaped death many times, but I fear loss. I was born in Gaza and live there. I worked in the field of sanitary supplies. With a lot of sadness, pain and sorrow, today on behalf of my grieving family My family consists of my father, Raed, who is 47 years old, my mother, Amani, who is 39 years old, and me along with my five siblings: my sister Rasha, who is 22 years old and married; my sister Rana, who is 21 years old and married; myself, Monir; my brother Mohamed, who is 16 years old; and my little sister Sham, who is 4 years old. Now, my entire family has become displaced after our house was destroyed, fleeing from bombings and death. Every day, we suffer more.
We are living in a school that has been turned into a shelter, housing many displaced people. Our lives have been upended multiple times due to the enemy's relentless bombings and destruction, forcing us to flee from death. My married sisters and their young children are with us in this dire situation, enduring severe shortages of food, water, and medicine, and we have received no assistance.
My mother, She's suffers from severe asthma and has undergone multiple surgeries with no improvement, depends on medication, inhalers, and oxygen for her chronic conditions. The ongoing conflict in Gaza has depleted the supply of these critical medications, causing her condition to worsen. As if that weren’t enough, diseases are spreading among us due to the accumulated garbage, as there are no waste disposal systems and trash is piling up in the streets where we live.
Our situation is heart-wrenching and desperate.
We are engulfed in suffering and despair.
I plead for any support you can offer, even a small donation, to help us survive, find a peaceful place away from this relentless war, destruction, and death, and secure a safe and hopeful future.

Allow me to describe to you life here in Gaza. It is like a very small cage in which chicks (baby chickens) are placed. They have nothing to do with it. A bowl of water is placed for them, and you find them quarreling over this simple portion of water as well as food, and the aid planes that resemble a person being shot down Food crumbs on the cage and you find them fighting too
and this is our situation, but there is only one way to survive, which is to get out.
But going out will cost you a lot. It will cost you to forget your quiet and simple life, and forget your dreams and ambitions that you worked for and struggled for.

My small family, consisting of two children, was living a simple life, full of safety and peace. My beautiful daughter Tulin, 8 years old, my son Zaki, 7 years old, and my husband Adnan. We used to wake up early to prepare breakfast and get our children ready for school, so they could continue their education like other children. We lived a normal life, and although it was simple, it was filled with love and warmth. But everything changed in a single moment, on October 7th, when fires erupted everywhere, and the sound of shelling and explosions filled the air. The children were terrified and refused to go to school from that day on, and our lives became consumed by fear and terror.
One dark night, while we were still hoping that the situation would calm down, there was a violent knock on the door. A voice warned us: "Leave immediately, you have to flee, the area will be bombed." We had no choice but to run. We left the house with only the clothes on our backs, taking nothing with us. We ran through the dark night, filled with fear and anxiety about what awaited us.
After a long day of exhaustion and suffering, we arrived in Khan Younis, searching for a place to protect us. It wasn’t easy to find one, but after a long search, we found a school in Bani Suheila. We stayed there for 50 days, living in constant fear. Bombings were happening everywhere, and the situation kept worsening. We had no clothes or blankets to shield our children from the biting cold of the night. We tried to hide them under blankets donated by kind-hearted people, trying to find some warmth for them.
But even this shelter wasn’t safe. Shortly after, we received a threat from the occupation that the school and the entire area would be bombed. We had to flee again, so we decided to move towards Rafah, to Tel al-Sultan. We didn’t know where to go or where we could find safety. The cold was unbearable, and we had no money or resources to build a tent. We tried any way we could to find shelter. We built a tent from pieces of wood and fabric, but the cold was so severe, and my children were freezing, getting sick again and again.
We stayed there for several months, trying to endure, until the decision came to invade Rafah. That’s when everything collapsed. We had no more hope, and we didn’t know where to go or where we could find refuge. We decided to flee once again, this time to Muwassi Khan Younis and Deir al-Balah. But danger surrounded us from every direction, and there was no safe place. We built a new tent, but it was nothing more than pieces of wood and fabric. It didn’t protect us from the cold, nor did it stop my children’s tears that fell every night from the freezing cold and fear.
My husband suffers from high blood pressure, and I suffer from severe migraines that make it impossible for me to endure the harsh cold. We are now living on the seashore, in a tent that doesn’t provide us with adequate protection. My children cry from pain and cold, and I can do nothing but watch them, helpless, unable to offer them anything.
Please, to anyone reading this story, we are an exhausted family. We have been displaced four times and have not found a safe place. Our children are suffering, and our lives are in constant danger. We plead to anyone who can help us to save us. Any donation or help could be a lifeline for us in these harsh conditions. Save my family from this war, and give us a new chance at life.

My little brother Ahmad is just a child.
He doesn’t understand war. He doesn’t know what a blockade means, or why Dad can’t buy us chocolate anymore.
Every day he grabs a pen and paper, draws toys and colors, and says to me:

I am Kholoud Al-Hanawi From Gaza 🇵🇸, the wife of Dr. Ahmad, a surgeon who risked his life in the war to save others. But today, he stands helpless—unable to save his own children. Our home is gone, reduced to rubble, and now we live in a tattered tent, barely shielding us from the burning sun and freezing nights. We have lost everything… but the worst pain is watching our children suffer.
Our precious babies, Yazan (9 years old) and Zeina (2 years old), are battling a cruel disease—Plaque Ichthyosis Psoriasis 🩸. Their delicate skin cracks, bleeds, and burns every single day. Every movement is agony. Every night is filled with their cries of pain. No child should suffer like this.
Tonight, Yazan looked at me with tear-filled eyes and whispered:

Here is my story. My family of five and I were living a peaceful and stable life in our beautiful little house. We worked hard to provide a decent life for our three children, and they were proud to see our children learn and grow in a safe and stable environment. But in a sudden moment, their lives changed forever.
The disaster happened when our house was completely destroyed due to the war. They lost everything: their home, their source of income, and even their children’s education. They became homeless and insecure, living in difficult and dangerous conditions. The children, who used to go to school with joy and hope, are now deprived of their most basic rights to education, and live in constant fear.
And now. My husband and I are trying hard to secure their basic needs, but we face great challenges. Every day is a struggle for survival, and an attempt to rebuild what they lost. The way the world treats us, the way we've been punished in every possible way since the beginning of our lives, and now they move us around like chess pieces. They wanted us there, then they wanted us to leave, then to stay, as if we have no will of our own. Can you imagine what that does to us, as the people of Gaza? As if we're not human beings. Some people romanticize our suffering, turning us into symbols or superheroes, while others see us as nothing, as objects to be moved from place to place. My family are living now on the rubble of our destroyed house since they returned to northern Gaza without the minimum necessities of life, with no shelter or tent, without food or water! My name is Salem Al-Anqar, a 26-year-old man. I lived a simple life, full of hope and hard work in Gaza. I owned an electrical and mechanical workshop for cars, as well as a car wash. Every day, I woke up with enthusiasm to build my future and provide the best for my family.
But life in Gaza does not keep anything beautiful. The recent war that devastated us was a nightmare that cannot be described. I saw my dreams crumble before my eyes. I lost my workshop, my car wash, and everything I built through years of hard work and dedication. But the biggest blow wasn't in losing material things—it was in losing myself.
During one of the random bombings, a shrapnel hit my back. That was the moment that changed my life forever. I woke up to find myself unable to move the lower half of my body. I, who once stood on my feet for hours, working, building, and helping others, am now confined to a wheelchair, living in a daily struggle with pain and despair.
I searched for any glimmer of hope that could restore my life. I spent all the money I had and traveled to Sweden in search of treatment that could change my fate. I spent everything I had accumulated throughout my life on doctors, consultations, and tests, but I am still far from recovery.
The doctors confirmed that the only solution is a series of complex surgeries that might restore my ability to move. But these surgeries are not ordinary; they are risky, with a success rate of no more than 10%. The costs are extremely high, in addition to the necessary treatments for me to walk again. The total cost for these surgeries and treatments exceeds 1,000,000 Swedish Krona.
I am now completely unable to cover these costs after having spent everything I had. Life has become an unbearable burden, but I still cling to the last thread of hope write these words now with a heavy heart, but with great faith in the humanity and compassion of others. All I ask for is a chance to restore my life.

I contemplate the happy faces of people around me here in Ireland and reminisce about the happy normal life my family and I had before the war. A life that turned into a distant memory for us and was replaced by an unending series of horrible nightmares.
Unlike my family in Gaza, people here have access to drinking water, all types of food, electricity, and a roof over their heads. Above all, they are safe, and I cannot help but wonder if they genuinely do appreciate these blessings in their lives enough.
People seem relaxed and laughing wholeheartedly around me in Ireland. I wish I could laugh too, but I am crushed way beyond recovery on the inside. I was evacuated by my Irish college after five months of living the horrors of war in Gaza. I hope you will never know what it feels like to live in constant fear and worry and be horrified by the most sickening and scary nightmares every single night while you are far away from your family in such circumstances.
When did my people in Gaza cease to be human beings worthy and deserving of a normal life? Has it become normal now for my family in Gaza to be starved and killed while the whole world is watching the genocide? If that is the case, then you will have to excuse me if I seek every avenue to bring them to Ireland and start a new normal life like all people here around me.
I was assured by the Irish Reugee Council (IRC) and lawyers in Ireland that there is hope I can reunite with my family in Ireland. In difficult times, it is hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel. For me and my family, you are literally our light and hope for a better life.
