genuinely tweaking bc how are you gonna insist that grrm gets a pass but not cassie?? how??

i've touched on this before and idk how it always come back to grrm vs cassie but one of them uses incest and copious violence against women (especially of the sexual kind) for shock value and the other uses incest as a tool briefly to tell a larger story of abuse.

i could bring up the misogyny in calling cassie the incest author when grrm gets nothing but praise for the most incest riddled books i have ever seen but i don't think people who can't even grasp that cassie is using it as a literary tool are ready to hear that

Cassandra Clare drives me insane. Like. Her books had me insane for years. Then I read Queen of Air and Darkness and. Honest to god that ending.

So. I don't remember most of the books story (let alone how it made up 3 books over 400 pages at the minimum) except that if you were legally recognised as best friends you couldn't fall in love. No one knows the cost of this. The cost turns out to be turning into giant flaming naked people.iirc. That's the ending. No destruction, no one is saved. It's just a thing. That happened.

AND LIKE. WHAT THE FUCK. It's so anticlimactic. I don't get it. I don't get where it came from. I don't get why this was so foreboding. BESIDES THD YKNOW.

Also. What's the trigger for this to happen. Because Alec loved Jace (his legally recognised best friend) but that ended fine. Was it because it wasn't required? Because Alec fell in love with Magnus at the end? IDK. but also in the upside down world, they acknowledge their in love and have sex. Which a) really bad priorities. They're in a world where the villain of the Mortal Instruments committed mass genocide and they're having sex. b) WAS IT JUST SEX STOPPING TBEM?

I'm certain there must be an explanation in the books. But I was so confused even when I was reading it. So either this was made up on the spot or I'm going insane.

Oh my God, I just found out, like today, that the entire Mortal Instruments series takes place over five months!! Five!! Months!! That's it. That is so much in such a short time.

At some point, I am going to have to sit down with those books and comb through them to lay out the time line.

Cause I feel like this is going to be a Pretty Little Liars situation where they acted like Caleb was in Ravenwood for at least a year, but because of the PLL time line, he only visited for like a weekend.

I really want people to flood my inbox with their rants about authors and books they just can't stand, especially YA because it's so gloriously and passionately unhinged and I love it. But I am aware that I'm a tiny little blog that no one knows or interacts with. And despite being on this site for over a decade, I still don't understand the dark alchemy that drives this place.

being a fan of a normal author who is not Cassandra Clare must be so boring. like you follow their insta where they post the singular commission of their main characters they made as promo for a book that comes out in a month. you hear down the grapevine that they teased a new book at an event so you know to look out for it to preorder. after finishing a trilogy you hope that maybe they will write a short story follow up or have them briefly appear in a future spin off. and then you move on with your life and pick up the next book. it's like a different world.

everyone panicking over Cassandra Clare saying a character we met in the first three tmi books will die in the first twp book 😭 which is understandable but I felt like we should keep in mind the book is literally called The Last King of Faerie and we first were introduced to the Seelie Queen in City of Ashes.... like shes kinda doomed it has to be her I fear

the way time works in Faerie always does my head in like wdym sometimes it goes faster than the outside world and sometimes it goes slower.... like huh 😭

however I have always wondered if you could use Faerie to time travel. like you lowkey can time travel into the future if time is moving quickly, is it possible to also go back in time?? you would need to know what your doing/be powerful enough to manipulate it right but like.... is that a thing you could theoretically do

so i look at the stats. and idk if this is a glitch, or if ive just read the sample way too many times for it to be healthy, but...

my stats say i have read that book for 1h 5min.

yall. i was going through some of cc's old newsletters, and on the one of april 8th (for me, might be like 9th or 7th for yall??) last year (2024), so exactly one year ago, she was talking abt when shed get the books she was working on released. she also mentioned how itd been sold tot the publisher around october the year before that (which is when she was able to get started writing). and one thing she said was that it takes at least 1 year to write a book. its been a year since she said that.... over a year since she was able to get started....

so, in conclusion, cc is, at the very least, relatively close to finishing tlkof.

now, i saw another post point out that the tsc books have had a trend of the main ship(s) kissing in the first book (dont quote me on this, i havent checked, im just trusting the post.)
