What manag vol is young dazai and chuuya from season 3??
I've seen the 15 light novel but is there a manga for it??
You: Dazai Osamu
Me, an intellectual: Osamu Dazai
I hope no one has done this one yet
The characters' side profiles are literally the things that made me start watching BSD
The fact that these are four different people is very disturbing.
An assumption I've made about Dazai Osamu
He's probably played Russian Roulette at least once in his life, but managed to survive in some miraculous way (which he wished he didn't).
i joined @lotus-pear 's dtiys!! congrats on 5k!!
i tried to get creative and had so much fun mixing different mediums (swirly background in oil paint, other colorings in pencil and some burnt paper with stars on them)
Some Akutagawa Siblings doodles :))
close ups below cut
I'll be honest, I'm not happy with the way the first two turned out. I've actually had them done for a few days and wasn't going to post them because I wasn't happy with them.
But I realized that would go against my own personal beliefs, which is that sharing even the art we're not proud of is important. Not everything we create will be or has to be perfect.
Sure, I kind of hate the way Chuuya's face looks, (also I think I got his hat wrong) Dazai's hair and both their feet. All I can really see are what I call "the screw ups". Fortunately, that's not all there is. For example, I'm very proud of how Atsushi turned out despite the fact that he kind of resembles Beast!Atsushi... I'm also not fussy on the shots without his jacket...
This turned into a long ramble, sorry, I just wanted to show off some A Graveyard For Angels designs. I gave Chuuya a brown jacket after a lot of back and forth with the colours and Dazai's bolo tie is more blue.
I finished it~

Help I accidentally wrote ADA!Chuuya into A Graveyard For Angels-
The line was supposed to go to Kunikida but Chuuya just said like, no??? Either way I'm having fun and I think I'll keep it, especially because I wrote that scene 1000 words ago.
Oh and a shit picture of WIP because I need to go to bed soon <3
This is of a scene I just finished writing, pretty much the same as the show though-
Update: I have 2000 words written
I'm currently just rewriting the first episode but with some changes, I don't know if I'll stick to the og plotline or not, but so far I don't think I will.
Oh! And I came up with a name! A Graveyard For Angels :D
What do you think? I'm having a lot of fun with this!
So I made a post recently and mentioned that I had an idea for a DOA!Atsushi AU, right? Well now there's a small prologue and I've started chapter one...
And I made art...
I need to stop having ideas, because I don't know if it'll actually become something or if I'll drop it in a week and that upsets me T-T
I might post the prologue later
Some expansion on the idea under the cut~ :)
*There will be spoilers for Dead Apple under the cut as well*
I had this idea based on the fact that we know Fyodor is probably the one who told Shibusawa about Atsushi.
I can't remember if we're told who finds Atsushi after he kills Shibusawa, but I ended up making a divergence there and having Fyodor find him.
Atsushi meets Dazai and Kunikida in the same way but under different circumstances as Atsushi is traveling around on a mission from Fyodor. He's just stopping in Yokohama for the night and the river scene goes pretty similar to canon.
That's about all I've got written so far, except it's 500 words in the document- I'll have to study up on Fyodor's character a bit more to make sure he's not OOC. Let me know if you'd be interested lol
I did some little doodles of the DOA AU
Still don't have a name for it though :/
There's a version with the notes and without! Please excuse my writing ':)

I do definitly have to admit the anime has its moments - like in dark era, dead apple and the guild arc. However i dont think the current style of animation properly potrays the theme and moods of most shows. from my pespective, bungo explores mental illness and the lines and burrness of morality. I really would like if the animation potrayed that in its style like Evangelion or lain, but instead its smooth and sharp, a stark differnce to how most of the characters view the world around them.
Idk if im the only one who thinks this, but the Bungo anime wouldve gone so much harder if it was animated in the 90s style of animation, specificly the evangelion style. Or even like the Dadaroma, NANA, or Paradise kiss style of animation. I have a lot of issues with the current anime, and most are animation related...

“teenage Dazai this” “teenage Chuuya that”
WHAT ABOUT TEENAGE FUKUZAWA
I know where Ranpo gets it from.
I talk to myself like that all the time but even that scene was a little odd 💀
See everyone gives Atsushi a hard time for talking to a hallucination.
But no one talks about when Tachihara was straight up narrating his every movement in the Sky Casino.
He popped into ah empty room and was just like oh there was no one here. Oh there’s a bomb wow good thing my ability that I totally have stopped me from getting hit by the shrapnel from these coin bombs.
Oh man there’s coin bombs hmm and they seem to be from every currency.
Who are you talking to man? Keep your monologue inside your head.
I need someone else to hear me out and understand.
Would the BSD anime not have gone hard with a 80s-90s Japanese City Pop themed soundtrack???
Maybe not for the whole thing but still. The atmosphere would be perfect for it, you cannot deny me that.
Japanese BSD Character Names Translated!!!
I’ve been learning Japanese for over a year and a half now, so I thought it would be fun to look into the meanings behind some of BSD’s cast. (Which also doubles as the original authors/poets names.)
Starting with Atsushi, his name is made of three characters: 中 島 敦
The first two, composing his family name, “Nakajima,” means island in the center of a pond/river. So essentially, “island pond”.
The kanji in his first name: 敦 can refer to either industry or the quality of being kind/gentle.
So all together, his name would be “Kind island pond.”
Like most last names, his probably refers to the location where his family is from. Meanwhile the first is just a typical Japanese name with a sweet meaning behind it.
I know Soukoku is an overrated ship. But the angst we can create with Dazai and Chuuya is such a specific flavor fucked up but painfully poetic that it’s hard not to at least find them interesting.
Like what about the Soukoku where Chuuya sees Dazai again after several years of separation, and he’s the same.
Chuuya sees Dazai, and sure, on the surface he seems like a changed man. Happier. Better. A person who fights for good.
But Chuuya knows Dazai, and he knows that Dazai is only pretending. He knows Dazai is trying so hard to be this other person. To be what Odasaku wanted. He’s gone and tried to change everything about himself but his name, yet no matter how desperate he is he cannot escape who he once was. Who he was in the Port Mafia. Who Mori trained him to be.
And Dazai knows Chuuya knows, but it’s such an easy comfort. His old habits are down right addictive, after all. Every moment spent with Chuuya, Dazai risks falling into who he used to be.
Neither of them want that, but the idea of the ever looming possibility that everything Dazai worked for could be ruined by the Chuuya’s mere existence and the act of Dazai loving him is so very compelling to me.
Right, I need to say my piece on the recent Asagiri drama.
I wasn’t going to say anything because I try to avoid fandom drama as it only takes away my enjoyment. However, I decided to do so anyway. I know I don’t have a large audience or post very often, but I would really appreciate it if people spread the word.
Do not. Under ANY circumstances, send threats, harass or anything of the sort to Asagiri or anyone involved in the creation of BSD.
It is rude. It is bad internet and fandom etiquette. It ruins the enjoyment for both the creators AND fans alike.
In a worst case scenario, it could lead to the premature end of BSD. (I’ve seen it happen before and it never ends well.)
This sort of thing is becoming a real issue in this fandom, especially as it grows. And I find it to be immature and pathetic behavior.
I understand liking your ships, I too have ships, but we must keep in mind that BSD was never supposed to be about romance or ships. It’s not a romance series.
Be respectful of Asagiri and the creators. Show your support of the series instead of sending hate and negativity when something happens that you don’t like. If you must, use that energy to make meaningful and respectful critique, or simply disengage. This applies with fandom content for the series as well.
It’s the polite and respectful thing to do. And it fosters a better community for everyone involved.
Considering what I know about irl Kunikida, it would be cool if it was the former. Stuff about his childhood is kinda hard to find, but from what it seems he may have had a decent relationship with his parents..?
Then again, Asagiri really does do whatever he wants with these characters, so that idea has absolutely no bearing here.
Idk if we ever hear about Kunikida’s parents. But I headcanon them as either being chill loveable folk who love and support Kunikida whatever he does in life.
Or that they are incredibly strict people who tried to mould Kunikida into fitting their image of the ideal man. Maybe he never wanted to go to college or be a teacher but was pretty much forced into it.
That he spent his whole life trying to live by their ideals until ultimately choosing his own. And that pissed as hell out of them.
There’s no in between.
oh my gods thank you for saying this out loud I’ve had this headcanon for MONTHS
Guys hear me out. Gorgeous trans woman Kouyou Ozaki (BSD).
Irl Ozaki was a guy... Bsd Ozaki is GORGEOUS woman... And idk. Something about the way she holds herself...
Her and Kunikida are both transfems.. TRUST me...
Recently I’ve been going back through BSD to do some analysis and I was thinking about Atsushi as the tiger, and what the tiger symbolizes.
I think the tiger is a good allegory for Atsushi’s views on himself as a person. And hear me out:
At the start of the story, Atsushi fears the tiger, but he also seems to hold some spite towards it due to it being the cause of him getting kicked out of the orphanage.
But then we learn that Atsushi is the tiger, and Atsushi himself feels terrible about it. There is suddenly no separation between himself and the tiger in his mind. They are one and the same, and he is just as responsible for everything as the tiger is. He hates the tiger, he doesn’t trust it, and he doesn’t understand it.
And he is the tiger.
It’s kinda common knowledge that Atsushi hates himself, nor does he trust himself, and that is reflected in the fact that the tiger is shown to be an uncontrollable, bloodthirsty creature. It does nothing good for anyone; just as Atsushi thinks he himself does nothing good or useful for anyone.
I’d also like to mention the fact that during chapter/episode one (1), when Atsushi is revealed as the tiger, Dazai is the one to stop it with his ability, and I think that’s an excellent little nod to how it is through Dazai (and by extension the rest of the ADA) that Atsushi is able to begin to trust himself more, and have more value in himself as a person.
Of course later on, Atsushi does make peace with the tiger, and it’s such a powerful moment because it’s not just Atsushi reconciling with the tiger, it’s Atsushi reconciling with himself as well. And I think it shows his growth as a character just fantastically.
I’m open to hearing the thoughts of others as well of course :]
I feel like Chuuya would have a blast Formula 1 racing
Skk mermaid AU, where Dazai's the human who meets Chuuya the merman.
Chuuya has this long, almost eel-like tail. He has huge fins and spines reminiscent of the lionfish. In the water he commands so much space, his fins fanning and tail dancing in the current. He rarely rests on land because he struggles to keep his fins from getting everywhere.
Dazai usually takes his boat out to the water to see him, only occasionally will Chuuya come to the shallows, but even then he keeps most of his body in the water. Dazai is used to thinking of Chuuya as this great sea serpent instead of a merperson, because sometimes it looks like Chuuya's tail never ends when he circles around Dazai in the water.
It is a common myth that merfolk can grow legs and walk on land if they wish too and Dazai is always trying to convince Chuuya to come on land, telling him stories of all the things he'll show him beyond the beaches. Chuuya denies this myth adamantly.
But as time goes on, Chuuya's curiosity gets the better of him and he finally agrees.
The next morning Dazai is waiting by the surf, with a towel and clothes, just like they agreed. He's brought wild flowers from the fields, corny, but Chuuya is always so fascinated with the gifts from land that Dazai brings him. Excitement is bubbling in him, despite the long hours he'd told himself to be nonchalant the night before.
And then he sees Chuuya emerging from the water. A little unsteady on his new legs, the gentle waves making him unbalanced as he walks.
Dazai thinks he's further away than he his, but then Chuuya is in front of him far quicker than Dazai expected him to be. And what should have been this magical moment is ruined by Dazai bursting out laughing.
Because his great beast of the sea, his serpent with the tail that goes on forever, is a full head's height shorter than him.
If Atsushi gets transferred
Akutagawa: Jinko, it’s 4am why on earth are you making Chakuze?
Atsushi: Because I’ve lost control over my life.
Guys please give me your bsd disability headcanons I require sustenance
I was just trying to show my friend what a lovelock cut is.
