The Glutton regrets: A break down

The glutton regrets is an artwork I created based off my own short story, The warmth of his flesh. I highly suggest you read that before reading this as it will provide much more context!

So! Lets set the scene! What's going on?

The glutton regrets is an aftermath to The warmth of his flesh, and as the title suggests, is when Hyacinth comes to terms with what she just did, which was cannibalising her lover.

Like I said, you should probably read the story before.

I decided to use a more sketchy and a sort of semi-realistic art style compared to my other posts as this truly is a horrific scene with context.

Basic description:

She's sitting alone at the dinner table, all the lamps extinguished, Hyacinth illuminated by a singular light. She dead pans into the camera, her face full of regret and disgust. A plate of meat is set upon the table, barely visible, as if she herself is trying to hide and forget what she has done. Blood is seen from across the table, hinting at the sinister meaning behind all of this. Finally, behind her is a bright red shadow resembling a man, the only defined part being his hands, which are resting on her shoulders. They are calloused and grimy.

I specifically only used a monotone for most of the drawing so it makes the painting more moody and gothic. The red added high contrast, making it so it's the first thing you see. I made the shadow of her lover red to make sure viewers would associate the blood with the man. His hands are only defined to really nail down her regret.

If you've read the story, you are aware of her reasons for wanting to kill and eat her lover, which is the fact that he provides her with comfort. It's as simple as that. She wants to forever be with that comfort, and how else do you that than by eating your lover? The hard and calloused hands are a representation of the harsh reality crashing down on her. Sure she's being comforted, but it's not the way he would. It's almost artificial, fake even. It's there, but it will never come close to the real thing.

It's almost like it's uncomfortable.

Huh.

Fun facts:

The flower around her neck is supposed the represent a hyacinth itself (I know, it's very poorly drawn)! If you aren't aware, hyacinth represent sorrow. It draped around her neck, constant, never leaving.

Of course!! Set after the events of s2 ep7 of Aligned...

Breakdown was a tough bot, always had been. Getting roughed up was nothing new to him, neither was pain. But... there was just so much. Everywhere. He couldn't even decipher the readings at this point. Too many, too quick. Then, with startling suddenness, it was gone. Coherent thought fizzled into a series of flickering pictures, briefly snapping into clarity before blurring together again. It was an unsettling feeling, as though he'd been pulled abruptly from a deep recharge. His processor felt sluggish, static-laden. He was on the ground. Had he... passed out? And where had that Pit-spawned glitch gone off to? The forest around him was quiet. The distinct clack of her many legs and the smug sound of her laughter were absent. Had she fled? Likely... coward. He was not looking forward to reporting that news to his Master. First things first... he needed to get back to... to who? Had he come here with someone? Why couldn't he... think... The static returned, and he shuttered his one remaining optic a few times hoping to clear things up. 'She must have... messed me up good.' He needed to get back. Knockout would patch him up. He always did. If only he didn't feel so depleted. 'Get up. For frag sa-sakes. M-move.' His limbs would not respond. He couldn't... feel them. Couldn't feel them... oh. Oh. He needed help. Urgently. His comm wouldn't work. 'H-help... anyone...' Lights flashed ahead, a vehicle pulling up. 'Knockout!' Relief flooded through him. He could fix this... fix him. Visuals were bleeding together now, and he could hardly make out anything apart from the light and the shadowed shape of his partner as he neared.... wait. Two shapes... three... all small. 'N-not Knock- not Knockout.' Everything was dimming. He struggled to bring himself back, to fight through the fog. No matter how he tried, awareness slipped further and further from his reach. 'I have to get b-back... to him... Primus please...'

His audial receptors were beginning to fail, sound coming through in patches.

"MECH 1 to Sylas...."

They absolutely do!! I hope Aligned is alright - I'm leaning in that direction right now for fluff.

Steady servos moved in practiced motions over his workspace, the pointed tips of his digits pressing the cleaning pad into seams and corners to ensure every centihic of the room was disinfected. With an optic for detail - and a predisposition for obsessive cleanliness to the point of anxiety - Knockout was a stickler when it came to keeping the med bay sterilized.

Not only would any contaminants negatively impact his patients, but quite frankly, it was a bad look. He strived for perfection, and it simply wouldn't do for his surroundings to be anything short of pristine.

He wavered slightly, catching himself with a start. Referencing his odometer, he noted it had been some time since he'd taken recharge. A habit of his, unfortunately. Hyper focus often lead to long periods without proper rest.

"Why don't you let me finish up and go take a few breems?"

Apparently, he wasn't the only one to catch his lapse. Ex-venting, he paused to address the room's other occupant.

"I'm nearly finished. Besides, your digits are too wide to get into some of these crevices."

Breakdown scoffed. "That's a lie if I ever heard one. You'll be at this for another cycle, at least."

Waving him off, the red mech continued scrubbing. "Yes, well... you know how I am."

He heard the larger bot approach, groaning when the cleaning pad was removed from his servo. He was about to object when he felt a steady weight against his back.

Leaning over him, Breakdown replied with a raspy laugh, "Yeah, I do know. Which is why I'm callin it."

Turning in place to pin the blue mech with a pointed stare, Knockout reminded him, "I believe I am the Doctor here. I make the calls."

"I'm not asking as your assistant... I'm asking as your conjunx. Please, Knockout. Get some recharge."

Frag. Not the look. Unable to withstand the pleading expression, he gave in. "Fine, fine! But make sure you get into the corners! And don't forget about-"

A kiss shut him up.

Pulling away slowly, Breakdown assured him, "It's cleaning. I've done it before."

Pleasantly flustered, the red bot nodded. "Yes, I suppose you have. Well... I'll be back in about - uagh! What are you doing?!"

Easily hoisting the smaller mech into his arms, he turned and exited the med bay, moving at a leisurely pace as he strode down the hall to their shared hab suite.

"I'm perfectly capable of walking."

"Yeah, but I wanna carry you. It's been a while since we've been able to spend time together outside of y'know... work stuff."

Unable to argue with that, Knockout relaxed into his lover's hold, leaning his helm against the mech's broad chassis. The war certainly had changed things. They'd been at this for so very long...

"Thank you."

Breakdown smiled at him, that crooked grin that was somehow rugged and adorable all at once.

"It's my pleasure."

The rest of the walk was spent in silence, the pair simply enjoying one another's closeness. It was over all too soon, but it had been nice to partake in the indulgence while it lasted. Upon arrival, Breakdown allowed his partner to slide back down onto his pedes, stopping him as he moved to step away, stealing one last kiss.

"I'll be inspecting your work when I return!" Knockout teased, strumming his digits against the blue mech's armor.

"Oh, I know you will. Now get some beauty rest, would ya? Yer startin' to look a little dull."

He gasped in false indignation, but found himself unable to hold the facade. Smiling, he threw a wink at his partner and headed for the berth, the lack of recharge finally catching up to him. Knockout watched him go before shuttering his optics. He wasn't sure what he would do without him.

I still can’t believe that these two dorks imported from Transformers Prime are the 2nd pair of canon robots husbands in the IDW comics. They aren’t just window dressing either! There’s a story behind the vain, high speed racer that married a guy who is considered inferior by his whole culture. I want to see it play out so badly!

Knockout and Breakdown are precious and deserve all the love. 

Does Breakdown live in your au?

No, since a lot of the story is going to revolve around Knockout coming to terms with Breakdown’s death, he doesn’t come back to life and he stays dead. At least that’s how I’ve currently planned it.

That being said, given that I’m writing a backstory for Knockout, I’m writing lots of flashback Breakdown stuff. I’m super excited to explore their past muahaha

So far I only have her Protoform, I haven’t designed what she will look like once she gets her alt forms, but she is gonna be a triple changer
