In the early 2000s, a college student named Hajime Isayama was working in a café when suddenly someone grabbed him by the collar violently. It was this, “the fear of meeting a person I can't communicate with,” that inspired a brilliant idea of writing what now would be the best anime of the decade. Attack on Titan is a dark fantasy manga (Japanese comic) that got turned into an anime. The anime gained a lot of popularity very rapidly and for a good reason. The show hurt me, it broke me in the most beautiful way, every episode left me with so many unanswered questions, every episode left a big impact on me as a person, it changed my sense of morality, the way I view life, it truly took me the whole new perspective.
Now theirs a lot of reason A.O.T is good but some of the main ones are:
The main storyline:
The anime/manga is set in a world where humanity lives peacefully inside cities surrounded by three enormous worshiped walls that have been built for a century, these walls protect them from a gigantic man eating creatures called titans, one day unexpectedly a titan larger than the 3rd outer wall (wall Maria) breaks it causing chaos destruction and fear leaving other titans to enter, titans start devouring humans at high rates as the main character Eren Jagear and his friends try to find his mother so they can enter the second wall and seek coverage but it’s too late, he watches as his own mother gets eaten alive, her shoe drooping symbolizing her leaving her son behind, in that very moment Eren swears that he’ll take revenge and slaughter all titans and give humanity hope for freedom since he’s always looked at the walls as if they are cages blocking him from the outer world ( it’s pretty ironic since the walls are what used to protect them ) then the real story begins following him entering the scouts regiment building relationships with other characters, and very unexpected plots that will change the whole course of the story.
The well written characters:
Attack on titan by far has the best written characters. each character has their own unique personality, different interest, different point of views, a motive and a dream, weaknesses and strengths, yet they all are relatable and have one thing in common; they all are trying to survive or save their loved ones at least. We always see them learning and improving from each other, even balancing each other. For example Armin lacks physical strength yet he has a good head on his shoulder while Eren is the opposite, he tends to let his emotions and humanity take over him. And in one scene Eren was refusing to kill Annie even if it was self defense thinking it was inhumane as he heard those words “To surpass monsters, you must be willing to abandon your humanity.” – Armin Alert. The story is also shown from every character point of view and that left us wondering if maybe Eren is in the wrong, maybe he’s the bad guy . Yet in the same time he’s the hero? The story is the same yet the point of views are changed and the audience are left to think for themselves, and the change of him from being the oppressed to being the oppressor was brilliant. The whole story was a big example of ‘’I can’t blame you nor you can blame me’’.
As Armin once said “A good person? Well… I don’t really like that term. Because to me, it just seems to mean someone who’s good for you. And I don’t think there’s any one person who’s good for everyone.”
Diversity and awareness:
growing up it was hard for me to relate to characters, there wasn’t any diversity whatsoever. Male characters were superior while female characters were never taken seriously, not mention they always had to live up to the white beauty standards that were limiting to so many children. In attack on titan they empowered all genders, personalities, bodies, races , and they did it in a proper way to show awareness for example every female character wasn’t sexualized nor objectified like most shows do and were written as proper humans with feeling and motives they were also respected an seen as equals with the male characters sometimes even stronger , as for appearance we see both woman and men with different unique features , a lot of the characters have a hooked/roman noses, the strongest character is also the shortest, Onyankopon is a dark-skinned man with black hair styled in a short crew cut and when someone asked him why his skin was dark showing ignores he simply answered by saying: because our creator thought it would be interesting if there was a mix of people, we got created cause we were wanted. The anime also explores other issues like parental abuse, in one seen a character was screaming calling out to her father apologizing while getting eaten by a titan and screaming this was a sign of trauma caused by her father’s abuse in the past. In other scenes we see parents manipulating their children or guilt tripping them into doing what they want for example historia and annie, Another thing the show raised awareness towards governmental corruption the show showed people abusing their authority multiple times and in one seen a we see a soldier with access to governmental equipment selling them illegally. The government also had a history of lying to the citizens and hurting those who were brave enough speak the truth (Erwin’s father was killed) In season 2 the government falsely accused the 104 cadets by committing crimes against the crown and they sent people to kill them illegally just because they were discovering the truth. The list goes on and on of the governments greediness.
The dark themes and mixed emotions:
“The world is merciless, and it's also very beautiful.”- Mikasa. as I said before the show showed some serious problems and the dark realistic sides the world in general and with these situations we are bound to get a lot of emotions like regret , feeling used, hopelessness, feeling stuck, losing touch with humanity, losing sight of you goals , betrayal, and more yet in the same time the show showed that in darkness there’s always some light , you see people stuck in a conflict find that they’re actually very similar to each other and becoming lovers, we see Armin achieving his long dream of wanting to see the ocean in with his own eyes , we see characters improving to the best version of themselves . The anime ended with our lovable main character dying and getting buried under the same tree he would sit under with the person he loved the most before the war, which was truly a bittersweet ending.
Attack on titian was very bittersweet and an emotional roller-coaster and it hurt me in the most beautiful way possible, it changed my morals, my views on life, it helped me learn valuable lessons. The anime is a masterpiece and I recommend it for everyone Possible.

Content: Slight NSFW mentions, swearing. Eren is still an ordinary scout.
“Oh, fuck off, Jean!”
Eren’s unfortunately familiar voice blasted through the mess hall. It was one of those days, apparently, one of those days in which commanders, captains, and soldiers alike would roll their eyes at the never-ending bickering between Yeager and Kirstein. They would munch on their servings of bread, chewing into the stale grain with every bit of annoyance they commonly felt when Jean and Eren would ruin meal time with their conflicts. A little rookie, a sweet girl with hair as red as fire, was even familiar with the tired routine. She hadn’t even been on her first scouting mission yet.
Like some sort of ritual, inevitable clockwork, Mikasa and Armin would rise in between the two boys, who glared holes in one another as they clenched their fists at their side.
“Guys, please, not tonight,” Armin would plead, plastering on a nervous grin.
“Eren,” Mikasa started, grabbing the brown-haired guy’s wrist in an attempt to de-escalate the situation, “don’t.”
Sometimes, they would listen. Sometimes, they would sit back down without a fuss, spending the rest of their meal time muttering to their friends about each other. And, other times, it would take Captain Levi giving them a quick and terrifying kick to the stomach to sort them out.
It was the same routine for years and years, starting long ago, when they were only trainees at the age of twelve, to now, when they stood as skilled soldiers at the age of nineteen.
But today, Eren ignored them.
So did Jean.
Neither one of the boys would back down without a fight, even if their faces, red with anger, ended up meeting Captain Levi’s boot.
No.
They would fight long and hard if necessary.
Neither one of them planned to give up fighting for something–or, someone–they both wanted.
You.
–
Eren’s bright eyes flickered away from Jean’s intense glare for only a moment. He saw you, quite a short distance away, sitting with your friends. You froze. Your beautiful eyes that he loved so damn much watched the scene taking place between the soldiers, widened with curiosity over what could possibly be going on. The warm potato soup you scooped up with your spoon was starting to spill back over into your bowl from your lack of movement. You were friends with both Jean and Eren. Close friends. Known each other for years. Cadets of the 104th. Because of that, seeing them fight was as common and expected as watching the sun rise and set each and every single day. However, when Eren’s eyes locked with yours for only a brief second, you knew something was different. You watched them carefully, but without the slight clue that they were fighting over you.
Armin glanced over at you as well, but you didn’t notice his big blue eyes staring. The poor boy’s throat dried to a crisp. A small bead of sweat fell from his moist forehead, and he swallowed nervously.
He raised his hands defensively between Jean and Eren. Everyone would assume that Arlert was simply nervous over the thought of them getting into a fist fight during dinner time, but no.
Deep within himself, his own rotten secret was twisting up inside of his gut, making him feel sick. His eyes danced between Eren, Jean, Mikasa, and you.
After all, if anyone knew what he wouldn’t dare utter with his own tongue, he would have been right in the middle of Eren and Jean’s rage.
Armin wanted you too.
The blonde soldier was known for his brilliance, and being as smart as he was, he knew exactly why Eren and Jean wanted to smash each other’s faces in. Of course, neither one of them happened to be the best at keeping their crushes a secret, but you still did not manage to catch on. Armin, to his own shock, was quite good at hiding his crush, at least, in his own eyes. Truth be told, Armin tended to get shy and blushy around everyone. Therefore, he acted the same way around you that he apologetically acted around others.
He glanced around the mess hall. He wondered how many others had a crush on you as well. He could imagine that most people did. In the world they were regrettably forced to live in, with the enemies they were bred to endure, love was the only thing anyone had left to fight for. Love was the driving force that sent soldiers to their deaths on horseback. Love was the reason why friends and family lived and died for each other. Why Eren pulled Armin out of the jaws of a titan. Why Mikasa saved Eren over and over again. Why Jean’s mom wrote him letters and made him food. Why anyone bothered to get out of bed and live another day in a world that couldn’t have been any different from Hell.
And you?
With those beautiful eyes that everyone got lost in. That body that everyone wanted to hold, touch, and see. That laugh that made everyone wonder if that’s what the entrance to Heaven sounded like. The bravery that saved lives during missions. The kindness that made everyone want to keep fighting for humanity.
You.
Damn you.
Damn you for making anyone and everyone feel this way.
Jean wiped the away the moisture from his drink trickling across his upper lip, his eyes never daring to sneak away from Eren’s, even when Yeager snuck a quick peek at you from where you sat, still and cautious, frozen with a spoon full of soup as you watched them with wide, curious eyes. Everyone watched them. Silently.
“What’s going on this time?” Sasha mumbled, her dumbfounded expression over the current escalating fight brewing in the middle of dinner time not quite contrasting against her common behavior, as she reached for another piece of bread, nevertheless.
“I don’t know,” you mumbled back to her, your best friend.
Captain Levi sipped on his tea, his poker face not vanishing for a moment as he watched Jean and Eren.
“Do you think we should intervene? This could get kinda ugly!” Hange scream-whispered, the commander’s visible eye widening as they looked at Levi with great worry.
Levi said nothing.
He knew what this was all about.
He was either extremely observant, or all of his fellow soldiers and comrades were plain stupid. It was obvious to anyone who wasn’t underneath your spell what the fight was about. However, little did poor Eren and a clueless Jean know that they weren’t the only ones who wanted you.
Armin, the very person trying to break up the fight, wanted you just as badly.
And so did Connie.
And Sasha.
And Reiner, and Bertholdt, before they left.
The new, nice guy with the weird haircut.
The girl with the long hair.
Levi could bet that others did as well. With that bittersweet knowledge, he took another sip of his tea.
“E-Eren, Jean, listen,” Armin swallowed thickly. “Don’t fight. You’ll get in trouble, and…” he leaned in, dropping his shaky voice just a beat below a whisper, “she won’t like it.”
His words seemed to snap some sense into Eren and Jean. The trance of glaring hatred that they were trapped in broke instantly. They fidgeted, their eyes darting everywhere, cheeks burning red with embarrassment.
Armin caught a glimpse of Mikasa’s confused face. She heard what Armin said, and truth be told, it saddened her. She knew exactly who her friend spoke of, and she despised the thought of Eren liking someone. Someone that wasn’t her. Armin gave her an encouraging nod, and Mikasa touched the red scarf wrapped around her neck.
The smaller guy wasn’t quite sure why he didn’t let Jean and Eren make a fool of themselves. It would have started to thin out the competition for your heart, putting him in the lead above the two, assuming there was some sort of ranking, and that he was lacking.
“Whatever,” Eren uttered, glaring down at his bowl of food as he sat beside Mikasa once more. “Let’s just eat.”
Jean retreated back to his own seat. He felt a bit embarrassed, as the entire situation kicked off simply from overhearing Eren talk about how he was able to train with you all day. Eren spoke innocently, mentioning your name casually as one would do a friend, but Jean knew better. He knew that Eren was bragging. Purposely bragging loud enough for Jean to hear, wanting to plant the ugly seed of jealousy within horseface.
“Nice that you were able to train with Y/N and all, but all that fighting wont change the fact that you’re a little runt!”
“What’d you just call me, horseface?!”
“I called you a little runt!”
“Oh, fuck off, Jean!”
And, now, dinner continued in silence. A small buzz of conversation persisted passively between each group of comrades, but Eren and Jean stayed quiet. So did Armin. And everyone else who had a crush on you. They each looked around at every face at every table, wondering who all held the same feelings for you.
Mentally, each one of them made it a competition between themselves and their unknown competitors.
A competition for your heart.
“Jean, that idiot, he better back off if he knows what’s good for him! Y/N’s as good as mine!” Eren thought, frowning angrily at his bowl of cold soup.
“Watch your back, Yeager. You might have all the cool powers or whatever, but I don’t mess around either, especially when it comes to her,” Jean thought, his chin resting in his palm, his light brown eyes glancing over at you.
“Maybe…maybe asking Y/N to train with me would be a good way to spend more time with her without upsetting anyone,” Armin thought, ripping tiny pieces of his bread off mindlessly as he plotted.
“I know what I’ll do! I’ll make her my favorite meal! I know I’d fall in love with someone if they made me my favorite meal, it has to work!” Sasha thought, smiling sweetly at you.
"I've gotten a lot stronger lately, and more good looking if you ask me. Maybe I should go ahead and ask Y/N out or something...right?" Connie thought, chugging down his soup.
Captain Levi smirked. It was a small, gentle movement of the face, one that hardly existed at all. As he finished up his cup of tea, he glanced over at you.
You smiled at your captain shyly.
“Fools,” he thought. “Don’t they know that this isn’t even a competition? After all, I’m the only one who gets to hold her. Kiss her. Take off all her clothes. They’re fighting for something I’ve already won.”
Levi nodded in your direction. You knew exactly what that meant. You hopped up excitedly, mumbling an excuse to your friends as to why you needed to leave dinner early.
As you made your way to where Levi would be fucking your brains out tonight, he waited a few moments before following you out of the mess hall.
It was just as he thought.
Levi had already won the competition.

Tired: if Eren was born in Marley he would be the same as Gabi
Wired: if Eren was born in Marley he would be the same as Grisha
Inspired: if Gabi was born on Paradise she wouldn't be the same as Eren, she would start as loyal to king policewoman or garrison soldier, more similar to Marco
Mikasa once threw Eren at the wall, she constantly intervened in conversations and never accepted rejections, took Eren in her arms against his will an humiliated him in the eyes of groupmates once, made scenes of jealousy when he was getting closer with other girls, projected her delusional fantasies on him and appropriated him to herself as a thing.
Seriously, just look at some examples of what i said and imagine, that Eren is a girl and Mikasa is a guy on these panels.
It doesn't seem good, yeah?
Eren wasn't obligated to love Mikasa. But there's more. Eren's aggression toward Mikasa was completely understandable, this kind of behavior mustn't be encouraged.
And then, we got this piece of art:
Moral: stalk your crushes to the last, do not accept refusals, act like their abusive partner and surely you will be rewarded.
Edit: i take my words that the reason why fd can't see a problem is their gender back. It's more about "eren is (almost) always wrong" or "mikasa is always right" moral compasses of the big part of fanbase.
eren in the new episode was so
