I love the weird way q!Phil loves and support his kids

He may not be the MOST sensitive or emotionally aware parent in the world, and he often has a skewed sense of what is “normal” or even “good parenting”, but that doesn’t stop him from supporting his kids and helping them grow anyway

A normal parent would be deeply concerned and offput by their kid opening up about their depression the way Tallulah did. A normal parent would coddle her, try and find a solution, maybe even freak out and make things worse.

But Phil just says “Alright, I’ll jump with you, and pick you up when you’re down”. He doesn’t smother her, he doesn’t give her empty platitudes she’s heard a million times that everything will be alright.

Maybe she does need some emotional support that he doesn’t really know how to give her yet, but in the mean time she has something almost as good- his unwavering support and dedication to bending for her when she wants to break

Today qphil:

-logged on with the bolas mask only speaking with signs

- sat in front of a tank of octopi and demanded they fuck for cookies

- implied he ate the happiness cookies and that they are edibles and he hasn’t been the same since (he’s fine)

- when qfit and qpac were being attacked by purgatory workers, he showed up with an army of octopi and lobsters (?) behind him

- when shown a picture of the workers he ran away screaming

Seriously though, I felt the panic in his voice, and how serious of a threat the King is was very well portrayed. It’s so cool to see everyone’s stories come to life and how much love is put in to it on all sides.

Phil tried his hardest to break the bars of his cage, ramming into them over and over.

“It's no use old crow.” Phil looked up, anger and fear in his eyes. The ender king knelt to meet Phil’s gaze. “Save your energy, you will need it for later,” he said in a monotone voice. Phil’s grip on the bars tightened. “Let. Me. Go.” he spat, masking his fear with venom.

“I am afraid I cannot do that yet old bird. You are of importance to me.” the god lifted a hand to the cage, Phil jumped back, scowling. “Why. Why am I so important huh??” he watched as the ender king opened his hand, “Because...” the old king answered, particles floating out of his hand,

“You stole something from me, an elytra. And now I have found that it has fused to your back in the form of crow wings.” The particles floated to Phil, causing him to press against the wall of the cage.

“However I am determined to make the best of a bad situation.” The particles reached Phil, absorbing into his skin, causing him to cry out in pain.

“Oh don't take that tone, you will find a new purpose with me!” Phil writhed in pain as his skin turned leathery and black, his screams distorting into an eerily familiar screech.

Eventually, the pain subsided, leaving Phil broken on the floor. The ender king stood up, “I will leave you be, that must have taken a lot out of you. Goodbye old crow, or should I say, Elytryan.”

If the ender king and rose both reached out to Q!Phil to try n help him I'm expecting the nether void deity and the ocean deity to also reach out except I think the ocean deity will reach out n just use heavy surfer slang n just sound so fucking chill bout Q!Phil's situation I think that'd match his charater perfectly lol

R = Rose (well, it's probably her), E = The Ender King

R: Long ago, E: A lifetime ago,

R: there was a child of the sky… E: there lived a man who fancied himself an explorer. . .

R: whose feathers were as dark as the night, of wings E: who flew with angels' wings,

R: that span across the Heavens. E: as vast as the endless Void.

R: He would take flight, possessing an unwavering spirit E: He soared wherever his whims took him,

R: and journeying through the unknown with a brave heart. E: claiming the treasures and secrets of the unknown as his own.

R: Day by day, E: Time after time,

R: he overcame trials and tribulations, an unwavering soul. E: he fought through trials no person was ever meant to survive.

These opening lines match so closely and it makes the differences in wording and tone very noticeable and interesting.

Rose (I'm just gonna assume it's her, alright) calls Phil a "child of the sky", the Ender King a "man who fancied himself an explorer". Rose is older than the Ender King and she's a protector, she views him as a child. The Ender King is scornful of others doesn't care about anyone but himself and views Phil as a man but immediately implies that Phil himself doesn't understand himself as well as he understands him.

Rose refers to the wings as "dark" but for the Ender King dark wings are kinda obvious, I mean what other kinds of wings are there, right? Instead he focuses on the comparison with angels, because feathers are kind of an alien concept for him, maybe, idk.

What Rose sees as "unwavering spirit", the Ender King sees as "whims", what Rose sees as journeying with a brave heart, the Ender King sees as conquest of the unknown. I think both are majorly projecting here lmao. They're describing themselves more than they're describing Phil.

Rose stresses Phil's unwavering soul "overcoming" trials, the Ender King sees them as battles to be "fought", maybe with a hint of grudging respect for Phil's success against all odds?

The rest of the text in each letter is less obviously mirrored, but the broad lines are still the same:

Rose describes Phil’s misfortune as seemingly having no clear reason, it’s just something that happened and it was a tragedy, but there's still hope for him. She focuses on his feelings of sadness and the way his presence was missed.

The Ender King blames Phil and sees this as some sort of divine punishment for his greed, again projecting his own faults onto Phil, that can only be escaped through redemption. This is clearly how he sees his own predicament now. And he draws that connection himself, explicitly.

I think by this point it's obvious that Rose views Phil as a child (her child?), the Ender King views him as a reflection of himself.

Rose only mentions herself off-handedly, doesn’t make a big deal of herself and even tries to dismiss her identity as unimportant. She only expresses her familiarity with Phil and that she feels his pain and wants to help him. She assures him that they will meet again (not realising that her message ended up being everything but comforting for him, oops.)

The Ender King talks about himself almost as much if not more than he talks about Phil, and only sees Phil’s value in his relation to himself. He makes a big deal about being THE ONLY ONE who can help Phil, which he offers to do, in the most condescending way possible. ”to grant you the peace of mind you so desperately seek”, okay dude.

And of course the way he addresses Phil is full of mockery where Rose's is full of gentle praise. It's interesting that he calls Phil by name, though, while Rose only addresses him by the same sobriquet she used in the beginning, "child of the sky".

It's also interesting how Rose seems to focus a LOT on Phil's wings, but it's hard to say if this is metaphorical or literal (or both). The Ender King's letter definitely makes it sound more like it's about Phil's mental state, him seeking "peace of mind". Rose also sort of touches on something related to that with the comment about his memories, but that's kinda it. The Ender King refers to his derealisation episodes very bluntly. Although I don't think either of them mean the problems with derealization is the thing he needs guidance for, considering they're BOTH actively making it worse with their messages.

If I were to guess, it's probably about him losing his memories and getting trapped on Quesadilla Island? idk. Possibly also the wings but I'm starting to lean towards the wings just needing to heal on their own and he probably doesn't actually need help with that.

Anyway, there are a lot of differences between the letters, but there are also a lot of core similarities: both of them are in a way treating him as a child, or a naive and childish person, both of them recognise his pain, both of them offer guidance and relief for said pain, although one through "faith" and one through "redemption" (oh boy there's a lot to say about that particular contrast that one could maybe make some real life comparisons about...) and although Rose does it a lot more, both of them associate him heavily with his wings.

I feel like there's also a certain level of respect for him in both letters, paradoxically. You wouldn't think that from how you have this almost coddling tone on one hand and mocking and condescending on the other. But they both describe him as a larger-than-life figure, almost like a mythical creature or a legendary hero (hero in the ancient sense of the word). And the way they BOTH emphasize the unfathomable vastness of his wings in such similar ways also doesn't seem coincidental. That's not how you (as a god) describe a mortal man, that's how you describe a fellow divine being.

(Honestly, these descriptions almost sound like he's a personification of a natural force, like he isn't just like the night or like the darkness, he is the night, he is the darkness, he is the void. What else would have wings that stretched out across the entire sky?)

And of course they both ultimately see him as someone worthy of their divine guidance.

I'm so excited to see if the other deities send him their own messages, I can't wait

Baghera talked about QSMP on stream today, namely Purgatory, and she said that one of her favorite things that came from it was hanging out with Philza. She loved their conversations and interactions, especially when it was only the two of them, and she said that she found the kind of parent-child dynamic they had really fun. Philza completely went along with it too so she went all in, and she found it really funny!

Sooooo I just noticed another difference between morty and evil morty…

Whenever evil morty is in a fight, he seems calm and collected. He acts like he already knows the ult one of every fight he’s been in. He plans ahead, and knows who he’s fighting so he has no need to worry about losing a fight.

Morty, on the other hand, is a fucking psycho. During the purge episode, he purged like no other. When he destroyed that narnia place at the start of season 5, it was in a blind rage. He doesn’t think before he fights. And sure, he worries before hand cuz that’s just who he is. but when he gets into it, everyone who tries to beat him is FUCKED, especially when Morty has some of Rick’s tech.

Another example would be in the episode with the death crystals. Morty found out that he was in danger and that one of his bullies may actually try to kill him, and did he try to resolve the situation peacefully? No, he stole a bunch of Rick’s tech and obliterated the people who tried to hurt him.

Morty’s even shot Rick before because everyone was insulting him and he couldn’t take it anymore. Of course, it was a fake gun, but it was obviously implied that Morty didn’t know that.

Also not to mention the fact that Morty dominated a fight pit in a post apocalyptic world because he was pissed about his dad leaving. Morty even refused to go back with Rick because he didn’t want to leave the only place where he could get his anger out (there were probably better ways but yknow he’s a teenager and this is Rick and morty where the characters healthy versions of themselves are still pretty fucked up in their own way)

So, what I’m getting at here is that Evil Morty is calculating and weighs his options to get the best outcome that will benefit him. Morty, in a fight or flight situation where he’s been pushed to the edge, fights like the everything he’s ever cared about is on the line with little regard for who he has to kill or hurt to protect himself.

Edit: I keep thinking of different scene where Morty goes fucking insane with a blood lust, so another example would be when he fucked up Ethan’s anatomy and shit because he made Summer feel bad. Ppl rlly need to stop messing with Morty, like that mafia boss in the Jerrick Trap had the right idea…

Another thing, in the Jerrick Trap he felt no remorse when shooting down all those guys in the mafia when he had just spent a few hours of getting to know them (he was probably just making them run errands for him but he was still technically hanging out with them, I mean he played ping pong with at least one of them)

Another edit: there r so many clips of morty loosing his shit and being a murderous psychopath I need to stop editing this every time I think of one lol… but remember the vat of acid stuff? Morty was annoyed that Rick wasn’t listening to him even though mouthy was ultimately right. He was sick of having to sit around in a tub of fake acid waiting for guys that he and Rick could easily kill to leave. So when he finally had enough, he just got out and tried to shoot them.

This child needs so much therapy.

Okay we're on board that this poster is a combo of stuff from different episodes, yeah? There's artistic lisence in play. Soooo.... At the very LEAST the Morty in the poster is meant to represent both Morty Prime and Evil Morty, because although Morty Prime is the one who actually hugs Rick, Evil Mortys the one who actually gets wounded on his arm there like in the poster. That ain't spaghetti sauce - look at the edge of the wound.

And they made kinda a big deal of both showing it happen the second time he goes after Prime, when Rick's mostly incapacitated but still dragging himself towards him...

And pointing it out again after too.

So what I'm saying is (again lol), I dont think we should underestimate Evil Morty's attachment to C-137, the only one he thinks is a different kind of Rick.

And who he has a lot more in common with than Morty Prime does 😬

It's very true that Morty Primes a smart kid in a lot of ways but one thing's still bugging me. Rick built that attribute slider - it probably measures intelligence as he sees it, which for sure doesn't include a lot of the ways Mortys smart. BUT. It would probably cover the ways Evil Morty is smart.

And this whole seasons had a LOT of body/mind switching going on, and they DID go off screen together that one time, through a portal that COULDN'T have taken them straight to Primes lair (cos it didn't have the goo), and then come back from an unseen portal and neither of them mentioned any detours...

Which all happened right after Evil got mad at Morty Prime for not taking proper care of his Rick...

And Evil Morty DOES have form for taking over people's brains...

And it's gotta be lonely out there with just a robot butler for company...

And if he did swap them, he DOES have Mortys "receipts" for all his previous adventures with Rick to study to sell it...

And Rick clearly thought Morty had given up on the adventure cards at some point, and was suspicious enough to call in the Observers...

And that line "I'm your little brother, you HAVE to take care of me!"... does that actually sound like something Morty Prime would say at this point?? Or does it sound more like something a Morty who's never actually had a big sister would say, and then get chucked into some garbage about because that's what their relationship is actually like...

And whichever Morty it was... He DID cast that almost eyepatch-like reflection in the spooky wet psychic realm...

And Morty Prime is fucking terrible at maths (at least going off the pilot), you don't just get over that because you have a fun adventure with your teacher - and he wasnt struggling with maths at the start of that ep, he was just ignoring it and listening to music...

And then was suddenly very good at it and asking for MORE homework...

Which seems unlikely for Morty Prime, but not so unlikely for a CLONED Morty, who probably never went to normal school or parties or joined a sports team or did anything like that because he was created at age 14 and just given random memories to make him a suitable product for Rick trade...

You see what I mean.

I entirely agree with people saying that qphil shouldn’t be forced into being a dad for every single character he has positive interactions with, and I definitely don’t think every member of bolas adopted him as their father, but I do think qbaghera genuinely kinda did (or started to think about it)

When you see their interactions in purgatory and remember her backstory it makes sense, she was a federation experiment that grew up in a lab and never had anything close to a family that loved her… when she remembered her past she called the federation “her only family” despite how much they hurt her

Then she goes to purgatory, and not only does she get to be rebellious and chaotic like she never could as a child, but then she gets to spend time with one of the very few people that know what it’s like to be a bird hybrid and he has experience in flying and taking care of wings when they hurt and he seems to know everything and he comes to pick her up when she needs help and he makes her food and encourages and supports her and is this what is like to have dad?

seeing Philza being that scared about the Ender king is scary. its like seeing your parents or someone strong you look up to being scared and losing their calm exterior for the first time.

its like when you relize that this person that you respect and relies on all your life is also in need of protection and you don't know if you could help them like they help you
