i have had to drastically change my mindset because of this. im not working to get the best grades or be the top of my class (if you can do that, please go for it!! just not possible for me). im simply trying to get my education, learn critical thinking skills, learn fact checking, etc.
im working hard now because fuck the government. and if spite is what i have to use in order to get my education, then fine. im doing it out of spite.
also, while i absolutely believe education should be free and every should have the opportunity, this is not reality. i am privileged to attend university, and im going to take advantage of it.

I would like to be a hippie, all flowers and kindness and such, but unfortunately the state of the world has made it so I must be incredibly punk. The ideologies are similar and share a lot of roots, but, the hippie mindset can only get you so far-- you can't put a flower in a gun that has already fired into you. You can't sing a song about peace and togetherness when molotovs are more appropriate. And it's hard to be homeless in a I love nature way when the earth is being destroyed to the point that I don't think there's much nature left. All of my friends are at a constant threat of being homeless, and, I want to make a sweet little commune somewhere, and have a garden with vegetables and a chicken coop, and play a very random assortment of instruments around a fire-- but here we are, needing to scream and cry and protest with our faces covered and our phones left somewhere far away and wear non descript clothing and know that we will probably be arrested. Here we are, needing to spread resources for health care that has been made illegal through zines and graffiti on bar bathroom stall walls. Here we are, unable to walk barefoot to feel the earth, because we must wear combat boots and running shoes, because we are being hunted.

Cosmo is my favourite character. He's sweet, caring, oblivious to jokes, a little too nervous for his own good, and very self-sacrificial (why does nobody talk about this part?) Since I'm one of the rare cosmo fans who like him for who he is-or just rare cosmo fan period since they don't exist unless they like fruitcake...- I DESPISE mischaracterization of him, especially by people who don't even like him that much. People (not even cosmo fans) get enraged when Cosmo is even REMOTELY feminine... despite him obviously being a feminine guy in cannon. No, it's not making him an uwu femboy to draw him with his literally cannon cute asf stockings. It's okay for him to be a Twink... Anyways, not everybody overreacts like that but some people who hate it try to be different by going the complete opposite, even if it means changing his entire fucking character. YOU ARE STILL MISCHARACTERIZING COSMO. I see him turned into a very masculine, confident, snarly guy and people go "Wow! finally an accurate Cosmo!)

sigh... at this point Im gonna be known as the weird ranter who keeps yapping about cosmo. Watch me turn these into a video essay. Cosmo is a common toon in the game dandy's world, known for- well, Sprout. Fruitcake, being a healer WITH Sprout. Do you see what Im getting at? Even in his OWN description, it mentions SPROUT. His only skin? Matching with SPROUT. (Not to mention that there's rumours about a strawberry skin? Devs please stop digging.) His trinkets AND ability? Matching with SPROUT. His twisted? Matching with SPROUT. And just uhm yeah... the way the fandom treats Cosmo as if he has no personality if not relative to Sprout. So check yourself, and the wiki (currently all the fun facts are correct, just ignore the strawberry skin..) and learn about Cosmo as a character. One fun fact: he really likes space and stars! It's so obvious please spread the word. Oh and just incase this gets any attention: IT IS OKAY TO MAKE COSMO A FEMININE GUY. HE IS LITERALLY FEMININE AND CHANGING HIM TO BE MORE MASCULINE, CONFIDENT, TALLER, ETC. IS JUST CHANGING HIS ENTIRE CHARACTER. I GET WE HATE UWU FEMBOY COSMO BUT THIS IS STILL MISCHARACTERIZATION JUST ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE SPECTRUM. PLEASE STOP. It's not really shocking information, people just don't like to point it out because they often partake in this. People will make Sprout some gorgeous majestic main toon and then depict Cosmo as some ugly Common?? Like you guy's genuinely add a power dynamic and its WEIRD. Or just literally drawing Cosmo to be "uglier" and not giving him personality. Like why does Sprout get literal hair and you strip Cosmo of his icing AND star freckles and basically just anything that makes him unique ? You can claim otherwise but when you look at an artist, or more specifically fruitcake artists work, you can tell whether they have a bias or not. And it HURTS my soul because its ALWAYS cosmo getting done dirty and then they claim they "love cosmo" Please do not name any artists, unless you wish to uplift them. I usually try to avoid fruitcake content because I am a die-hard Cosmo fan and yk, it's usually not suitable for us. But an artist on here that I ADORE that does both characters and their dynamic justice is @avosya also appreciate that cosmo actually looks good LOL
Cosmo Has More Personality Than the Fandom Gives Him Credit For
Cosmo! My favourite, and one of the most overlooked characters. I can genuinely not think of any other character that has been done so dirty by both the fandom and creators in Dandy's World and Im not even just being biased. So, in an attempt to clear these mischaracterizations and shed some light on Cosmo's true nature and character, I am making a Tumblr post. Yes it is 3 am and I'm too tired to do anything else. Cosmo... Is a very self-sacrificial person and it is so insanely obvious I am bewildered nobody is talking about this, but not really. Because it's so clear, just nobody has bothered to look into it or even comment on it. Nobody notices because they don't care to think about his character. Cosmo uses his own FLESH. His own flesh and blood- or I guess Ichor- to heal the other toons. He never worries about him being endangered or even if the other toons might waste his heal, instead he remains timid and unsure, worried about his own incompetency.
He doesn't even feel good or confident in his healing, all of his ability dialogues but a single one ending in '...' and Cosmo feeling as if he did something wrong. He's also a considerate person, his dialogue with Flutter, Astro, Finn, Ginger, showing that he takes the time to think about the other toon's and their situations. My favourite and the most obvious one being the Flutter dialogue. Not to mention his laughably gullible character that often gets overlooked because god forbid a cartoon non-human male carry feminine AND sensitive traits! Poor Finn, I bet he and Cosmo stood in awkward silence that whole elevator ride.
Another obvious and interesting fact about Cosmo is that he loves stars and space! It's been confirmed by Qwel that he enjoys to stargaze but it's not really shocking considering his name comes from COSMIC- yk, like SPACE? and STARS? And he literally has star freckles like c'mon it's right there in our faces. It's so glaringly evident and yes I'm running out of synonyms for obvious because I can't believe nobody knows this stuff! Yk why? Because people don't give two shits about a common toon that only exists to be a tool for Sprout, whether they mischaracterize him to be some uwu boy who can't do anything without his big strawberry boy or they make him into some big manly man with a moustache that has no issues at all with being confident and making snarky jokes.
Do you see the problem? God, I have to tag this with fruitcake otherwise nobody will care.

Old & New Punks, I got a question!
Now that i'm getting older (a 27 year old punk this year, been more involved in the punk spaces for 5 yearas now), I've realized that I am no longer a baby punk -- despite not having a 'scene' at home -- and I will soon become the mentor for the younger punks. Yet, I don't know how to be one. This is perhaps an odd question, but baby punks tell me:
What can older punks do to teach y'all stuff about the subculture? What has been disappointing behavior from older punks you wish to not see again?
And older punks! (Or baby punks that have a good insight on this): How can I be a better mentor for the youngins? Tips and tricks on how to look out for them? How can I avoid being such a groggy old head? LOL

Okay... I'm probably a little bit wrong in my wording and this is gonna be reblogged or something, but what I'm trying to say is that you can BE punk and still not have the stereotypical punk style. Punk is about (not completely) having different beliefs, not fitting in, all that stuff. So isn't it weird that in this punk community, people are still limiting themselves, and others, to a certain style?? Wear that cute little pink skirt you love in a group of people who absolutely despise pink and despise skirts, and that's the punkest thing you could do. Astro isn't a little shy uwu femboy

He's not even 'soft' though I know the fandom likes to portray him as such. Yes he can rant, he gets angry (ie. The animated scene with him ranting to Dandy, clearly pissed off- or annoyed, I guess, since it's a children's show.) People are very open about hating the Cosmo mischaracterization (me 2 man) and yet don't speak up about the Astro femboy-ification. It's actually very popular now and nobody is talking about is cause you're all secretly freaks who are into that shit (Astro is the most popular character in the fandom.)

LIKE SPACE???? astro- in sprout's dialogue, even though Astro wasn't trying to steal sweets its IMPLIED (omg yes!! you have to use your critical thinking skills for once.) that he would and probably has tried to snag a few extra snacks- though of course this depends on your perspective, and this is mine. SO yes we already have the indication that they like each other in a more basic sense. Astro likes sweets, Cosmo likes space. But then you also can have more dynamics! Ex. Sun and Moon but they aren't total opposites. Both introverts, so they have that similarity but Cosmo is more nervous(he still tries to be social and I see it as him caring for the toons) and self sacrificial (he literally uses his own FLESH to heal the toons.) Astro is obviously introverted but a common misconception about him that I HATE HATE HATEEEEE is that he's "shy" and "soft HE'S NOT SHY, NOT SOFT, AND HE'S NOT SOME UWU FEMBOY. HE'S LITERALLY JUST ANTI-SOCIAL. Yes, he's ANTI-SOCIAL. Not shy. He doesn't seem to be nervous on the machines like Cosmo is, he doesn't really care at all. Astro would be like a grounding force to Cosmo when he gets too stressed and overthinking, he wouldn't understand Cosmo's sacrificial nature and him doing so much for the other toons (not to say Astro wouldn't also lend a helping hand. Cosmo, the little ball of sunshine he is, would try to get Astro come out of his shell. Of course, the moon being the stand-offish guy he is, probably wouldn't be very open to talking at first (their dialogue.) UNTILLLLL he realizes that they have their love for astronomy in common! Astro shows a preference for people that are similar to him or have something in common with him (ie. Razzle & Dazzle, Brightney, Dandy and the mains.) And Cosmo's caring, social, vibrant personality wouldn't be a problem for him, his best friend is Dandy. Speaking of best friends... I can imagine a conversation between them, talking about their friends and how overshadowed they feel. Cosmo Is definitely a lot more uh... overshadowed- again, for lack of another word.- than him but I still feel like for Astro it might be a little uncomfortable to constantly be associated with Dandy like he's just "Dandy's best friend." Doing everything together with the star of the show might show problems. Of course I have a LOT more hcs for these two but Im gonna stop here at the more 'cannon' ones.
