The best thing for me? How Andrew Garfield got a chance to redeem his character, a proper way to say goodbye, an ending that will make him proud and happy instead of sad and disappointed.

I can’t stop thinking about how his eyes were shining all the time. How his happiness radiated from him. How he got to be side by side with his hero (Tobey) and be spiderman with him! To get his ‘blessing’ (“you are amazing!”).

About his character: how he got his hope back, his colors back. Meeting the other Parkers was so important for all of them but him most of all. How saving MJ from the exact same accident he lost Gwen to was heartbreakingly healing. You could see it, Andrew nailed his acting here. The absolute pain he felt, the ‘I could’ve saved her too’ mixed with ‘at least I saved MJ, and this Peter won’t have to go through that’.

Andrew got a chance to make things right for himself, and he did it graciously. He gave all of himself and I am so absolutely proud and happy for him. For me, this was the best thing in a film full of great things. I just… you deserve it, Andrew and amazing!Peter. You both deserve it!

This is me ranking the meanest things that Damian has ever said to Bruce

1. “You were easier to look up to when you weren’t around.”

I love when Damian reminds Bruce that he’s a disappointment. It took the other batkids years to realize that but Damian knew it from the beginning and he will never let him forget it. 9/10

He’s 100% correct but he’s not being as mean as he could be. Bruce’s feelings were definitely not hurt so it wasn’t a proper roasting. But it’s super fucking funny, and I’m obsessed with the fact that Damian interrupted this serious moment to joke about how everyone hates his dad. 7/10

Calling Bruce stupid is very classic Damian. I appreciate that he keeps finding new and creative ways to say it. However I have to take off points because that’s not the actual Bruce he’s insulting, just a dollotron. 5/10

This one absolutely took me out when I first read it. The “watch it old man” alone would be enough for me to put it on this list, but pairing that with Damian saying he’s better than Bruce in nearly every way makes this perfect. Bruce’s feelings probably weren’t hurt but he definitely called Dick later to complain about Damian’s lack of respect. 10/10

5. “So you’ve learned your long-lost father is a world class psycho... join the club...”

He’s not talking to Bruce in this one but this is still an impeccable roast. Calling Bruce a psycho AND telling his teammate that they ain’t special?? He’s killing two birds with one stone. I’m taking off points because this panel came from Teen Titans (2016) and that version of Damian is not valid. 6/10

6. “Father, if this is it, I want to tell you something. I... I need you to know... I definitely would have been the best Batman.”

Absolutely iconic. Damian is facing certain death and instead of telling his father that he loves him like Bruce was probably expecting, he decided to remind him that he could have been a way better Batman if he was given the chance. Damian is going to die doing what he loves most: antagonizing Bruce. 12/10

7. “Silence.”

After all the times Bruce has told him to shut up, Damian finally pulled an Uno reverse card on him, and it’s all Bruce’s fault. Even he can recognize that. 5/10

8. “And I sometimes feel like I’m listening to a raging, controlling madman.”

I admire Damian’s audacity to bring up all of Bruce’s faults whenever they fight. And he’s always correct. I also love how big Bruce’s hand is compared to his face. It reminds me that Bruce is getting verbally demolished by a kid who still needs a booster seat. 8/10

9. “But we’re going to talk about these orphanages. It’s a bit disconcerting that you own whole buildings full of potential backup Robins.”

Even if this was a joke, I know some tiny part of Damian actually believes this. He lives in constant fear of getting another sibling. I’m deducting some points because this is one of the most popular and overused Batman jokes ever. We all know he collects orphans. 4/10

We’re finishing the list off strong with perhaps the meanest thing Damian has ever said to Bruce. He went for the throat with this one. His father just came back to life and he’s already decided he doesn’t like that bitch. I just KNOW Bruce cried himself to sleep that night. 1000/10

Eobard keeps trying to be Barry. The man wants to take over his life, fool Barry's friends and family into thinking that he's Barry Allen and be the Flash but he never accounts for the (former) Kid Flashes.

Wally and Bart watched 'Barry' be mean, rude and disrespectful and both immediately jumped to Invasion of the Body Snatchers and I love them for it. They never even considered that Barry could be mean to them, it wasn't even an option. If Barry was being mean to them then it wasn't actually Barry.

Wally full on bitch slaps the guy and Bart drop kicks his ass without a moment of hesitation. And both do it while telling Eobard that he isn't Barry and that he'll never be Barry.

The absolute respect and love those two have for Barry is just downright beautiful sometimes (and very much deserved and reciprocated). I love how violently wholesome they are.

Imagine how scared Alfred probably was when he climbed up the fire escape and saw Dick unresponsive and covered in blood. For a brief moment, he probably thought that he was too late and that Dick was already dead.

How come you don't like Hayley Atwell? No hate, I just happened to see a post of yours where you said she was a hippocrate and was wondering your opinion because I don't often see hate about her.

Basically she threw Emily Vancamp under the bus by expressing her displeasure towards staron saying shit like Peggy would “ground her” (Sharon) and just pretty much give Steve a slap on the wrist (much like society is like “boy will be boys” and just let them off- even if their hormonal pursuits put a woman in an uncomfortable position)

And it’s more interesting because after I did some digging (and because I’ve heard so much about it) I found an old tweet where Hayley actually expressed interest and support for Emily and her character which is what I’d likely expect if I still liked her…

But from what I’m told this was a tweet that has since then been deleted and I’m not sure exactly when, but you should also remember Agent Carter (Hayley’s show) cancellation was announced the week of of Civil War’s release (i recall strongly) and to add to that blow her character was also killed off in Civil War in the same movie where Emily’s character was meant to be Steve’s new love interest (as is so in the comics and still to this day) and then the infamous kiss happened and tumblr goes off forever. Hayley was asked at a con what she thought of Steve/Sharon and pretty much it’s what I already said above.

But what you should be taking out of this is how the moment the attention shifted from Hayley she got bitter and basically tossed out any all support for Emily and her character, and I say for a actress who supposedly represents feminist ideals (which I admit is not her fault, that’s the fandom) she sure was quick to show her bitter contempt towards a woman who was already on the receiving end of fandom misogyny.

And of course her fans are- simply put, horrible people (from what i’ve encountered and seen)

She’s also said other problematic things in the past but until I find those I won’t really go off on it. But yeah I don’t really like or care for her now- I hear about her a lot but I don’t see her because her work remains inconsistent anyway.

EDIT: since we live in a bad timeline and because everything else is just reassuring me that I’m right she’s also a sexual harasser and gets a sick thrill off being classless and predatory but her stans aren’t ready for such a discussion😗

I am sick to death with stories and readings of Joker being Batman's only friend and is the only person who understands him, it's bullshit.

You know who can be Batman's friend who understands him waaay better than Joker?

Alfred Pennyworth - the man who raised and took care of Bruce. The man who was and is always there for him and is practically his father.

Any of the Robins - He's raised them, he knows who they've become as adults and knows what they all went through as children.

But I can hear you say, those are family, and although family can be your friends, it's not the same. Well fuck you, what about

Selina Kyle - his former fling turned partner. She knows Bruce well enough at this point, hell she knows the Batfamily a lot at this point to be a mother figure to the Robins and to be a pillar of emotional support for Bruce

CLARK JOSEPH KENT - This one pisses me off the most because for every version that romanticizes Bruce and Joker's friendship, there's also a version that strains Clark and Bruce's by making them enemies. They are the goddamn world's finest, they've both been through tragic losses; Clark lost Pa Kent at a young age and Bruce lost both his parents. Both of them operate under a sense of justice informed by that trauma and by the love of their respective caretakers, Ma Kent and Alfred.

Barbara Gordon - same reason for the Robins, but more on a mentor relationship than a parental one, however that doesn't discount the chances of two being good friends since they both know each other personally and fight for the same cause.

JIM FUCKING GORDON - I don't even need to explain this, he's pretty much Alfred, Clark, and Barbara all rolled into one in terms of his relationship with Bruce

Buuuut nooooooooo let's go out there and say that the psychotic maniac that's obsessed with Batman is Bruce's only friend and is the only person who can understand him. Sure.

For fuck's sake, Bane probably has a better chance of being Bruce's friend than Joker

EDIT: It has come to my attention that I totally forgot to include Harvey Dent in here, but included Bane right at the gate. Sorry

This may be too early to call but…best MCU villain:

1) The complexity of this character. Never have I felt so conflicted over a villain since even though you know he’s a bad man, you just feel sorry for him. 

2) The movie did the “romance redeemed the villain” trope, but effectively. 

3) His fall from grace was well-done. You just feel he’s making the wrong choices, such as putting the ten rings back on again, breaking his promise to leave the warlord life. At the same time, you completely understand why he’s making these choices. 

4) Everything about this character was so human. Tony Leung really brought in a certain sadness with Wenwu, that you could feel his anguish and grief even as he commits acts of violence. Since Tony’s made a career out of playing complicated men dealing with loneliness, this comes as no surprise. 

5) The final showdown between Wenwu and Shang-Chi was enough to put this movie in my top 5. The way that Simu Liu and Tony Leung kept switching from rage to despair, from wanting to kill each other to hoping the other will stand down because there’s still love there…that’s what really made this movie work. They really nailed the dynamic of a father and son reluctantly battling each other, both wanting to win but not wanting to seriously hurt the other.

I’m sorry Killmonger…you’re still amazing, but I gotta give the Best MCU Villain crown to Wenwu/The Mandarin. 

Important PSA: going to watch the movie Shang-Chi in theatres is NOT the only way you can support the movie! 

I’ve been getting a ton of replies saying “I can’t watch it bc of covid” which are very valid reasons. If you can watch it safely then please do that, if you can’t then you can’t. But this isn’t a group chat where I need to hear all your weekend plans of why you can’t watch it. and from the tone most people have, it feels very performative.

Box office numbers are meaningless without fan engagement! Please show support for Shang-Chi! 

PLEASE stop with the unnecessary hate. Mappa has done SO GOOD, they’ve done an amazing job at capturing the emotion that goes along with these scenes that we’ve been anticipating for so long. Yes they leave some things out, but the animation, the music, everything is perfect. You can prefer WIT over Mappa if you’d like, but the hate is so unnecessary because y’all know they’re doing a great job either way. I know they won’t drop the show, I’m so grateful that they picked it up when no one else would, but I’m scared that maybe they’ll delay it or drop it if it becomes to stressful. We should welcome this change positively, even with the flaws, we should be grateful that Mappa is working hard for us and was willing to pick it up so we would be able to see some of our favourite scenes animated.
