It’s not easy being Gold. Always a smile, sharp and glittering. Always an attitude, bright and cocky. Always charming, sexy, beautiful, but never calm, soft.

It’s too much. He’s breaking down.

Take a break, they say. If it’s not fun anymore, that defeats the purpose.

Because he knows it’s all a game. It’s a game where their lives are risked, but that makes it all the more fun. He’s not gonna take a break.

Try a different angle, they suggest. A different mask, a different brand.

Rose Gold.

Softer, gentler, calmer. It’s a change the city is not expecting. It’s a change his clients are not expecting.

It’s a change his enemies are not expecting.

They target the boy who was golden, now tinged with pink. They look at his new weaknesses and try to exploit them.

They don’t realize he’s twice as dangerous. Because he’s comfortable again. He’s back to playing his game.

And metal has sharp edges, but roses also have thorns.
