Unfortunately, I'm not much of a painter π
Last picture this year. Happy holidays, guys!
Hi there!
I forgot to tell you that on november 6th my game and blog turned 1 year old! Year ago i published 2 posts: short one with 1 screenshot and long one with game's background and concept. But i decided to make the long post private because i thought it contained too many spoilers.
Now you know my game's concept so these are no longer spoilers. So today i made this post public! So you can read it right now!
For this year i published 91 posts and gained 32 followers:
For this year my game has passed alpha testing, was released on itch.io and now i'm developing beta 0.0 version that will be released on PlayMarket and/or Steam
Goodluck to everyone who read this post! Luck is a one of the most useful things in life... Unfortunately, i'm not always lucky...
Perfectionist's paradise code
P.S. I deleted 2 empty rows in the 3rd file to make everything perfect
Now you can drag and drop cursor in text fields
PS: while i was doing it i often regretted i using defold... because it doesn't has nodes ready... it's so scary...
I've created my game text and localized it. To change language I temporarily assigned unused buttons. But when I've created my own file format for game text, I realized I could use jsonπ€¦ββοΈ. This is that I decided to do.
I realized it would be difficult to scale gameplay screenshot. So, I created a sketch of the new game icon:
But it doesn't tell new player about my game, unlike the old icon:
If you like the new logo, I'll improve it and it will become the new game icon
Hi! It's been almost a month since i released War & Economy beta. During this time the game was downloaded only 3 times. This is less than the number of downloads during the month after the release of pre-beta 2.0. More likely this means that my game is uninteresting. And i agree with this.
I think the reason for this lies in the concept of the game. War & Economy is essentially a board game, like chess or Monopoly. It's interesting when you play it but there's no reason to play this game again. The game hasn't long term progression. It hasn't a plot or development. So it's almost a one-time game. One-time and uninteresting game. Which even I'm not interested in playing.
So i think i won't continue to develop War & Economy. I'm tired of it, and maybe you're too.
After i started playing Beholder (late october), i come up with a new concept for a game. A dystopia where the main character is a judge in a country where corruption and violence rule, in a country when almost daily appear new stupid and senseless laws making life even harder. And all this is seasoned with a ton of propaganda of war and hatred. I was also inspired by my country for this concept. Yes, sometimes quite often i feel like i live in a dystopia where even youtube is blocked.
But this concept is a hard to release. So i won't implement it anytime soon.
What will i post? Maybe content about my favorite games: Beholder and RimWorld, maybe something else, maybe nothing. You can write in comments what you would like to see in my blog. Maybe i'll listen to your opinion.
But for now bye...
Now if you're newbie, you'll be asked to read the tutorial; after a 1st game you'll be asked to rate the game. I also remade the pause menu again, now it and some other windows will change their size depending on the text length. And yes i ask people for help with development right in the settings menu π
This is pre-beta 2.0 interim-4 (the last interim before pre-release!) and i'll post it in my discord server within the next hour
PS: maybe i should make larger the yes and no buttons in the "pls rate my game" window?
Added a full debug menu that can be turned on/off. Also added settings for simultaneous sound playback. Currently turning the debug menu on/off is the only setting on new Other page but i'm going to add more useless settings to this page.
Hi there!
While i was creating entry fields, i think: my entry field looks even better than druid's (best ui module for defold), so maybe i should publish my own ui module on github so everyone can use it?
I was thinking about it and finally decided: YES
But i can't publish it right away because:
The docs for the module leaves much to be desired
It uses all my other modules
So i decided: first i'll publish this other modules and then improve the ui module docs and publish it
So i present to you funlutab: the module for convenient work with tables in lua. It's the most basic module that is used by all my other modules
Now bots can win back their cells after they have been conquered by enemy and use shelling on adjacent enemy cells
Also bots build less air defense but this is not visible in the video because bots just don't reach the stage of building airports. To test this change, i had to help bots a little.
