@dnrarepairweek day one: shinigami | premonitions | fate
Still not very confident in my shinigami drawing abilities so I went with a scene from the musical instead :P
Screencap ref:
I do want to elaborate why I think this ship works so well (Mycroft Holmes / L Lawliet).
First of all, we know that they respect people of the same level of intelligence. Dare I say they are on each other's level which will bring them closer to each other.
They're both very closed off about their feelings, but we can see that Mycroft does open up to people he trusts (in canon, that person is Albert).
Now, in AU where they work together, be it MI-6 or just some detective agency, they are bound to spend a lot of time together working. And as they gradually grow closer due to their similarities, Mycroft just might to spill his secrets and tell about how he feels.
And at first that would be very overwhelming for L. Sharing problems? Talking about feelings? That's unheard of. But then it would create a sort of a safe space for him to be vulnerable as well. He would just listen for a while. Most of Mycroft's problems are similar to his, after all. He would appreciate having someone who can put his own feelings to words.
Then he would start talking, too. He would still be afraid, but Mycroft's patience and kindness would inspire him to confide in one person he can.
They both are very silent about their feelings, and having that one friend (I doubt they would call each other friends, though) might be their salvation.
That's all I have to say today.
When I started to post my fics for this ship, only 4 works existed for them on Ao3 (and the relationship tag was wrongly named, it took a 2 months fight with the support to correct it), so I never expected I will ever get to see this 🥰🥰
I am really happy (even if 189 from these are mine, but I will be always ready to shower my ship with love. They are a great and underrated pairing ❤️❤️ I still have a lot of fic ideas for them, AUs to explore and a longfic in progress)
does anyone actually ever refer to matt with a pronoun in canon. this is a sincere question
they traumatized a man with big brown doe eyes and a slutty waist and they want me to be normal about it ?
I need it so much I actually think I'd be writing it. Until we meet again!
Reddit AU where lawlight posts on r/AITA (am I the asshole) everytime they have a disagreement and it chronicles out of control to the point they're famous and everyone pretty much knows its Kira and L.
L telling yo mama jokes about Kira’s mom while silently daring Light to come to the defense of a woman he doesn’t even know, I mean it’s Kira’s mother, anyone who raised such a horrible murderer must be the worst parent in the world. I bet she’s ugly too. I bet she was lying when she told Kira how proud she was about his test scores
Light Yagami's fingers twitch around his coffee cup.
"I'm sorry," L says, "does this upset you?"
"Of course it doesn't upset me," Light says, smiling brightly. His eyes crease shut when he smiles. Windows of the soul:Â closed for today, come back tomorrow. "I'm just not sure what this has to do with catching Kira."
"Well, we are trying to profile Kira," L says. "Which includes his relationships with his parents. You called him an affluent child, yes?"
"Yeah."
"It would make sense for Kira's mother to be neglectful," L muses. "He has all of Mommy's money and none of her love. That would give anyone a chip on their shoulder."
"What, you think Kira has an inferiority complex? Why would he? You said it yourself, he thinks what he's doing is justice."
"An attempt to discipline the world," L says. "Perhaps as a reflection of a lack of his mother's gentle guidance?"
"Or his father's," Light says.
"…Go on."
Light's knuckles whiten. L very carefully does not smile. "I'm just saying, I don't know why you're focusing on his mom all of a sudden. It's not like it's the fault of parents when their children choose to become delinquent. Besides, there are thousands, maybe tens of thousands of neglectful parents just in Tokyo. It won't narrow down our suspect pool—"
Ah, another trademark Light Yagami monologue. L decides to take the time to eat his cake.
"—and don't you think that it's unfair to say such things about a woman, even if she did raise a murderer?" Light crosses his arms. "Calling her ugly, really, Ryuga? That's kind of sexist."
L tucks his knees tighter to his chest in an attempt to increase his willpower enough to stop himself from cackling. "You think I'm sexist."
"It's not a personal attack," Light says. "But it's always good to reexamine your unconscious biases."
Well, he's wrong. L's biases are very conscious. For example, Light Yagami is absolutely Kira. "Thank you, Yagami-kun, I'll keep that in mind."
"You're welcome," Light says, heroically.
"I suppose that I should feel sorry for her, then."
"Sorry?"
"This poor, overworked woman who has her hands full taking care of such a spoiled child."
"Just because he's affluent doesn't mean he's spoiled," Light snaps.
"I can't imagine how heartbroken she would be to know her son was a murderer," L barrels on mournfully. "You're right, Yagami-kun. I should have empathized with her position. This must be very hard for her."
"I'm glad you're more in touch with women's struggles now, Ryuga." Light takes a sip of his coffee. His face is blank when he puts it down. "So about the profile for the actual murderer—"
"I still think she lied about the test scores, though," L says, and that's what gets Light to start screaming at him.
He felt this since childhood. Everyone is looking at him. When he was outside, he felt everyone's gaze on himself. It made his skin crawl. Despite the fact that every time he turned around to realize that no one was actually looking, he couldn't shake off this feeling. That horrifying thought always gnawed on his sanity. Everyone — every single person — is looking at his clothes, monitoring his footsteps, listening to his voice; everyone would not miss the chance to devour him the moment he slips up, the moment they see a flaw, a mismatch, inaccuracy. He felt like he was under constant scrutiny.
He had learned to live with it. His every thought, his every action and every word must comply with strict guidelines the society has set, must add to his perfect image and not subtract from it. In a new place he must choose the only correct path out of millions possibilities. One that would make him seem like a good person, good, trustworthy and righteous man. One that would earn him being treated with humanity and respect.
The feeling followed him into adulthood. Now, when he had taken on William's name, he must control his image with even more scrutiny. Is his voice low enough? Is his stance too relaxed? Does his body look normal enough? When he first saw himself in the mirror, the person he must be, he stopped eating. One pound of fat could ruin this perfect image. Two weeks later Louis force-fed him, muttering something under his breath. William only smiled weakly and fell asleep in the plate of Louis' stew. He wasn't able to fight off his own mind any further.
He started doubting himself. Rather, he never stopped doing that since he had learned that important thing about himself. A child, he immediately doubted the conclusion he had reached. He had heard that people like him are abnormal, insane. No matter how much efforts he put into complying with society's own guidelines, that same society would push him away. He had heard that people like him are killed. He had seen that many times.
His reflection isn't his anymore. He's just pretending. Putting on someone else's skin with that someone else's clothes, hair and mannerisms. Nothing was his. He has just borrowed his skin. It looks out of place on him. Everyone can surely see that. The longer he looks in the mirror, the more he feels sick. Everything he has grown to consider his doesn't belong on him.
"Brother are you alright?" Louis asks with audible concern and wraps his arms around William's shoulders. It's somewhat soothing.
He forces himself to close his eyes and tries to smile. He is sure that it looks forced and tight. Because it's just not her face.
