Just a little PSA for all our mental health (and chronic pain*) spoonies out there! A lot of doctors neglect to mention this little side effect, which means a lot of us are suffering extra from the heat without knowing why.
*Many psych meds are used to treat chronic pain as well, if you didn’t know!

One thing that I’ve really struggled with while being depressed is eating enough. So, one thing I’ve been working on has been making sure I eat. Ideally at least one meal a day, but snacking thru the day is better than nothing.
Today I ate three meals! There have been several days like this recently and I’m so incredibly proud of myself. It’s just one part of my recovery, but it’s an important part. I’m starting to feel a lot better.

I carve it like a marble statue and sculpt it like clay until I see my form emerge. My appearance is mine to control and delight in

At summer camp:
- schedule
- three meals every day
- know in advance what I’m gonna do and what I’m gonna eat
Getting home from summer camp
- too much unstructured time
- keep track of time level impossible
- decide what to eat, get ingredients, make food, each food (I sound entitled but it’s genuinely difficult when I look in the cabinets and instead of seeing potentially meals my brain just sees random stuff in boxes)

For all my over-heating spoonies out there:
While doing chores/moving around, if you start to get really warm, put ice packs in your pockets, 10/10
Drink lots of ice water, but not all at once, your body might freak a little and go nauseous
Have a large amount of tank tops in various colors, when you go out and have to look a bit more formal, use a cardigan/very thin jacket so you always have the option to take it off
Spray bottles on mist form <3
Sometimes resting, or laying down, helps to cool off cause you're not using energy
Keep your bare feet on the cool tile/wood/etc. as often as possible
Bowl of ice in front of a fan works weirdly well
Popsicles, but make sure they're not high in sugar/dairy/etc. because those can make it worse
I know it would seem like tiny tight clothes would be best, but make sure your clothes aren't tight, you don't have to wear long flowing capes and gowns but having shorts that are cotton/loose are always much better.
The backs of your arms (the upper half) your feet, and your knees are often colder than the rest of your body, utilize that

I’m a trans guy and while some things made me dysphoric (like the powderpuff derby long story), overall I definitely look back fondly on my time as a Girl Scout. I got to spend a lot of time with my mom before she passed that I may not have gotten otherwise and it’s where I met my current best friend
You may leave Girl Scouts but Girl Scouts never leaves you. Honestly so many things I was taught in Girl Scouts I still remember and do. I don’t leave my litter behind me. I’ve only didn’t this once with a half full water bottle I forgot after class. I remember selling cookies in front of the Lowe’s. Many of these are core memories
I think my autism may be part of the reason I’m an anarchist. So much of our lives today are just societal constructs and I don’t like or believe in them cause I genuinely don’t understand the need. For example, money. Why does it have the value it does? Why do certain metals have the value they do? Why is the exchange rate like that? If inflation is as bad as it is why don’t we just stop it and keep prices the same? That last question is usually met with responses about supply and demand. Bitch I know all about supply and demand. But we literally made up the system we can change it if we want or need to. Supply and demand doesn’t mean shit when it’s literally made up. It’s not some natural law or something. We made it up
