You’ve given up believing it was some harmless prank.
At first, you thought they were a bit of an annoyance, if not a tiny inconvenience. Yellow scraps of paper would be hidden everywhere you could think of. Smiley faces would be stuck on your front door, crudely-done drawings would be posted on your car, hearts and short messages would be waiting for you at your mailbox.
One sticky note had gotten embarrassingly glued to your shoe before a coworker kindly informed you of its existence. You remembered hastily tugging it off, close to chucking it in the trash can before you read:

You didn’t want to admit it, but it was a little sweet.
After a while, you started to look a little forward to your ‘secret admirer’, reading the messages with a smile after a long day of work. It was nice, being appreciated. You thought it was from your neighbor’s kids, maybe it was a school project to make someone’s day. It certainly made yours.
Then they started to get unsettling.

The time and effort put into this is inspiring and the way it came out is simply the greatest thing ever. I would buy this. Everyone who worked on this is amazing. There is something about proudly proclaiming a show "tumblrista catnip" that makes me emotional.
Something about how for years tumblrinas were ridiculed by show creators.
Something about Supernatural having a meta episode set at a convention with all the weirdo fans that made the main characters uncomfortable. Something something about Becky and the message that fangirls are gross and obsessive.
Something about Sherlock and the way fans were portrayed as crazy obsessive nutjobs for trying to figure out how he faked his death.
Something about creators mocking fandoms, dismissing them as freaks. Something about queer people not being welcome to engage in their creations because "why do you have to make everything gay?"
Something about the malicious culture of queerbaiting throughout the 2000s/2010s, followed by Bury Your Gays tropes across the media landscape because hell, you should be grateful we even gave you queer characters to begin with - and everyone dies in our show! You ain't special!
Something about Destiel questions being banned from conventions...
And then...
Something instead about Good Omens, and letting the story adapt naturally, embracing the fanbase and leaning into the fanservice.
Something about Our Flag Means Death, and the genuine outpouring of love and affection between cast, crew, and fandom that culminated in an explosion of fanworks that were never once mocked or deemed gross or wrong.
Something about Sandman, and staunchly digging in their heels on the queerness of it all, refusing to give in to the homophobes and instead avidly mocking THEM on social media rather than us.
Something about the writers hearing about fandoms favourite ships and excitedly stating that YES! We DID lean into that because it happened naturally and made sense.
Something about a firefighter coming out as bisexual after 7 seasons...
So yeah, something about a new high quality show made FOR US. By creators that love US. Respect US, and WANT our love.
Something about US FINALLY being a target audience for the best shows being made on TV now.

started thinking abt akira constantly calling up goro and sumire even after 1) goro dies (so they think) and 2) sumire distances herself post-third sem. i elaborate on this on my shusumi fic........ sorry subtle shilling
^ tldr i think these 3 kinda drift apart after the snowglobe world crumbles, that false reality that ironically brought them so close together..... back in reality, things feel Different (but this is Our reality right? why does it feel so strange now?) and so. well its just not the same, no amtter what
the. the “the love was there. it didnt change anything. it didnt save anyone. there were just too many forces against it. but it still matters that the love was there” tumblr post
even though they loved each other and knew it too, there was also some sort of looming feeling that it won't last - but it does, still. it exists, in some meaningful sense-
akira sees and thinks about sumire and goro in everything he does, his day to day life, worries about them, wants to tell them about all he's doing, wants to hear about what they're up to. so he does so by leaving voicemails (although in this case sumire changed her number LMFAO. he does it anyway)
in the same vein, sumire thinks about all the things she'd like to tell goro, but with no address to send it to, it's useless. but she writes them anyway - more and more as a solace to herself, conversing with the memory of goro in her head, making him live on in that sense. and with akira i think it's a little more subtle. here she's trying to find a coffee shop that measures up to lebalnc, and of course she doesn't. there's only one leblanc and only one akira. but yeah like in sumire's case she kinda goes these "roundabout" ways in her Missing Them. theres also the added thing of her wanting to be more independent (from goro and akira and kasumi and tokyo and etc etc etc. also elaborated on in said fic)
goro! i think there's smth so poignant about visiting your own grave (i wrote sumire doing htis in another fic. thats an aside) hair cut, mask on, no gloves, he's a different sort of goro akechi but not really in any meaningful sense either. he's just different. sumire leaves the scarf (i think w sumire, she learns from goro like. omg im blanking on the word. LIKE reliability..? thinking realistically? smth like that.) so shes subconsciously thinks oh ill get him something useful like a scarf to keep warm (and a lil more subtle on the love aspect). akira gets him a lovely bouquet, straightforward and honest w his love/adoration, never afraid to spell it out. smth abt goro needing to live a new life now but also he keeps looking back - but this time, there's love when he looks back. there's still love
a kind of "youll always have home with me" sentiment btwn these 3. even if we never return there, youll still have a place in my heart
like "i dont think ill ever have that kind of love again. but i had it once. and even if i couldnt keep it, its still important." THIS IS HARD TO EXPLAIN
anyway tldr theres just some sentiment w royaltrio w Wanting to move on but also holding onto your past, and learning how to reconcile with the horrible parts but also the tender and lovely parts. sometimes there's stuff you gotta leave behind and grow past, grow around, even if it's good. even if it's good, you still have to push forward. <- a lesson that i'm trying to teach myself currently so thats why this is very. projecting. My piece for the @mp100auzine! I decided to make something for an Ageswap AU, particularly dealing with the 7th division Scars.
This was inspired by leothedino/shigayokagayama’s ageswap fic Show Me the World Outside. One aspect of the story involves the Scars as esper kids who used their powers to rise the ranks of their middle school gangs, only to be kidnapped and brainwashed by Claw. I thought it’d be fun to explore the time period before these events, where they’re all being little shits.

Extra concept dev stuff below the cut:
First, some refs I designed for the Scars themselves! I used the outfits and names of the five middle school gangs featured in Big Cleanup Arc: Mayo, Soy Sauce, Bean Paste, Miso and Noodle Soup Base(pictured left to right). Not pictured here, but included in the full piece, is a hapless ageswap Kijibayashi who just wants to make it through his shift at the arcade in peace.
Next, the Arcade! For the arcade cabinets and posters, some I just parodied arcade games into Mob Psycho versions, others I also referenced other aus from the zine (Spirit Ball Run, Joust, Youkai’s Lair, etc). Same with the assorted dimple plushies and claw machine items. The missing persons posters are referencing the events of SMTWO where members of the Super Five are taken by Claw as well.
