2 year of (very slow) improvements in 3 screenshots.
Game development is hard (and slow) :T
In Flightless Star using gravity creatively is essential to advance through the levels.
But sometimes it unlocks some handy shortcuts, for those that want to challenge themselves and finish the level as fast as possible.
Midway through the second level we find CW Leonis (IRC +10216), the dying star surrounded by a carbon dust cloud that once belonged to its outer layer.

With new movement abilities come new challenges.
The new dodge move allows the player to significantly change his trajectory, to dodge hazards or safely land on the destined planet.
A definitely not dangerous doppelganger to follow you around, just keep a healthy distance from him and you'll be fine.
After a lot of tweaks and redraws, I finally reached a satisfying (and cute) running animation for the little bird.
The Evil Eye (spiral galaxy NGC 4826) watches over the lost bird as the player begins the second level of the game.
PS: I may consider redrawing or making some touch ups later as it looks a far cry from the amazing image it is based on.

Hello everyone
I’m a newcomer solo game developer and this is the first game I’ve been working for quite some time.
The game is called Flightless Star, and has a pretty unusual gameplay, playing similar to a 2D platformer, but instead of jumping you launch yourself from one planet to the next while dealing with their treacherous gravity fields, avoiding hazards and using your ever increasing movement abilities.
I’ve been working on this game for almost 2 years and there is still a lot to do :'), in the meantime I released a demo to gather feedback and show the idea of the game.

The hunt for money begins!
Alex starts his car, in the half-deserted city.
The gangsters have hidden their loot of coins all over the city.
The mission: get at least $100 worth of coins to complete the level. The coins are scattered around the streets.
The gangsters, in their cars, are on high alert and are firing warning shots.
The car's fuel gauge is already half empty! But finally Alex manages to get more than the required amount and can leave the city!
