while i’m on the subject of tory, i was thinking about it today and……..hear me out…………..the scene where chance and tory make out in his office actually gave me more reason to love ben and tory as a couple.
and not out of like, oh, gross, fuck chance i want my ship canon and all that 2015 era bullshit, but because, in that moment, tory lost her moral high ground over ben. because she had all but scoffed when ben declared that she and chance were going to hook up that night, and if he had been wrong, and tory had been professionally editing files with chance, it would have given her a moral high ground. but she DIDNT, she was kissing chance on his office floor, and so ben was dead fucking right.
i love that. i don’t love chance and tory hooking up but i do love that it proves, both to tory and to us, that ben isn’t making paranoid accusations. he totally called it, and tory did exactly what ben claimed she would do. which is part of the reason that she ultimately realized she loved him and not chance. she’d already forgiven ben in exposure for what he did with the gamemaster, but there was still this sort of rift between where they stood morally, and obviously i’m not saying that tory kissing someone is equivalent to ben unwittingly assisting a genocidal maniac but it just….restored the last of the missing equilibrium.
