Getting the boys to draw your tattoo TMNT x platonic!gn!reader

I will also be doing a romantic reader as well!!

Description: the boys are like family to you so you get the boys to draw something small not knowing you’re getting it tattooed on yourself

Getting The Boys To Draw Your Tattoo TMNT X Platonic!gn!reader

You’ve been doing a lot of thinking lately. You’ve been thinking about how you don’t really have family nearby, not like you’re very close to them anyways, and you’ve been thinking about how the boys have been the best family you could’ve asked for. They took you in when you were going through tough times and they have been your best friends throughout your lifetime. You’ve been trying to show them how important they are to you and you saw a trend on tiktok where someone gets their family to draw a flower and get it tattooed on them. The reactions of the family members were so cute and honestly, what a better way to show your appreciation and love for your family.

You went to Donnie’s lab and asked for a piece of paper and pen and immediately asked him to draw a flower on it. Donnie looked at you and then at the paper that was being shoved in his face by you. “Uhh, sure. Is there a particular flower you want me to draw?” You thought for a moment and just gave a small smile, “I’m sure you have a favorite one, why don’t you draw that?” Donnie smiled and said, “Of course I have one.” He took his time when it came to drawing a lotus flower and as he drew it, he rambled on about the meaning behind it and the medicinal purposes it had in the past. Every now and then, he would scrunch his nose at it not being perfect, but eventually he was pleased with the outcome and handed it over to you. You took a good look at it and felt yourself smile at how cute it looked. “Is it good enough?” he asked you. “Oh, it’s perfect, Don. Thank you!” you said and gave him a quick hug. One that was immediately returned.

You were thinking of which one of the brothers would be the hardest to get them to draw a flower and your mind landed on Leo. Yeah, he's definitely going to be the last one on your list. You were about to go look for Raph when you’re suddenly picked up and your back is flush against their chest with a loud yell of your name and you start to giggle as Mikey spins. “You gotta watch out angel! I almost slammed into you,” Mikey says as he puts you down on his skateboard. You put the pieces together and realize you walked in his way. How convenient. “Come chill with me for a minute amigo(a),” he put his hands on your waist and guided you towards the couch as you tried to balance on the board. As soon as you got into the living room area you both sat down on the couch as Mikey started up a game that he wanted you to play with him. You ended up playing the game with him for a while before you remembered the original plan you had for the day. After losing the round you were in you gave a dramatic sigh after Mikey’s loud cheer. “If only, you could make it up to me for beating me in the first round,” you emphasized with an even longer, dragged out sigh as you lay across his lap to make sure you have his full attention. “Ok, ok! What can I do?” you handed him a piece of paper and a pen, “I would love a lil flower from my favorite ‘arteest’.” “Awww, yeah I can do that for you angelbaby.” You sit up with a big smile on your face and watch as he does a dahlia with great detail. You loved it so much, but you know the other two turtles aren’t going to be as professional. You didn’t say anything about it though because you love the fact that they’ll all be unique to them. “Is this good enough Y/N?” “Oh, Mikey. It’s perfect! Thank you so much!” You knocked him back from the force of your hug which made the both of you laugh and as Mikey sat you both up, he gave you a small peck on your forehead. Before he could ask why you wanted it, you were up and running to go find Raph.

You didn’t hear him moving around in the workout room so you headed to his room. You knocked on his door and before he could finish saying “come in” you practically kicked the door open and walked in to see him reading a comic. He sighed at how you barged in, but other than that, he didn’t look up from the pages he was reading. “Raph, you better move the comic,” you warned. “Oh yeah? Or else what shorty?” You closed the door and backed up against the door before leaning forward a bit as you were about to give yourself a head-start. He knew immediately what you were about to do and his eyes widened a bit, “Hey hey! Wait!” but it was too late you were already using the end of his bed to help you jump up as you were about to body slam him into the bed. He was quick enough to at least grab the pillow from next to him to place on his chest. You landed hard on his chest but it was much softer than what it would’ve been without the pillow. It helps when he also prevents you from bouncing off of him and landing on the ground instead because he wrapped his arm around you. Raph couldn’t help but let out a small chuckle after you let out a groan. “If only yuh thought that one through.” You just rested your head against his chest with a small, “noted”. He let out another chuckle as he started to gently rub your back with his thumb and looked back at his comic in his other hand. You nearly fell asleep until you turned your head to see what comic he was reading, only to see Poison Ivy. You are once again reminded of your mission. You place your chin on his chest as you look up to ask him your question. “Hey Raphie?” “Hmm” “Can I ask you a favor?” “Depends. Do I gotta get up?” You shook your head and he looked down at you with a small exhale from his nose, “Ight. What do I gotta do?” You moved onto the empty side of his bed and brought out the paper and pen. “All you gotta do is draw a flower and I’ll be outta your hair.” He grabbed the pen and paper and almost looked shy about it. “I ain’t as good of a drawer as Mikey.” “That’s ok! It can be a simple flower. It doesn’t have to be anything crazy.” He looked back down at the paper in his hand and then he let out a small sigh. “Ight,” he said as he started drawing a small sunflower. You smiled knowing you love sunflowers and that he decided to draw your favorite just because you asked him. It made you feel all warm and fuzzy inside. He finished it up and handed it to you and you thanked him before giving him a big hug, “yeah yeah. Don’t mention it shorty.” You got up to head out before adding a small, “see ya at dinner!” before walking out and closing his door.

You were practically skipping your way to find Leo. You walked by his room and noticed he wasn’t there. You passed by Splinter’s meditation room and noticed he wasn’t there either. Next stop: dojo. You finally reached it and leaned your head into the doorway. Leo was training with his swords. He was in the middle of a flip when you walked in quietly and sat a safe distance away from him. Leo wrapped up the routine he was doing when he bowed and placed his swords back into their sheaths. He came up to you and patted your head before sitting down in front of you. “What’s up Y/N?” he asked as he was about to set you guys up for some small meditation. “Well I wanted to see how your day has been so far?” “And?” your smile fell a small bit. “Well it’s a small favor to ask, but I do wanna know how you’ve been. Don’t want you to think I’m just here for my silly little things.” He let out a small laugh, “No, I know you do Y/N. I know you have your silly little things, but I’m not upset with any of your silly ideas or things you bring to me.” You smiled big at that because you know you can get a little annoying about things sometimes, but it gives you small moments together. You know that sometimes it helps him after tense moments because he tends to at least smile by the end of your conversation. You guys had some small talk when there was a small pause and he finally asked, “so what can I help you with?” You grabbed the last piece of paper and handed him the pen. “I was hoping you could draw a flower?” you asked softly, knowing he was about to ask why and you know you’re not good at hiding secrets from him. “I think you know what I’m about to ask,” you sighed a little before giving a small giggle, “Yeah, yeah. It’s just something I’m planning on doing. I don’t want to spoil the surprise though.” He raised a brow, “a surprise, huh?” He gave a small smile, “You know I’m not good at surprises and neither are you.” You grab your heart dramatically, “you wound me Leo.” He wasn’t wrong. Every time you have a surprise you get too excited and accidentally spoil it. He chuckled and then started to draw an orchid. He was actually drawing it pretty well. You lean in closer to watch him finish his drawing. “You’re doing really well, surprisingly.” “Surprisingly! Hey, I’m not that bad at these kinds of things.” You both laughed as he handed it to you and you nearly squealed in excitement because now you have your tattoo. You stood up quickly and kissed the top of his head and gave it a rub, “thanks Buddha!” and ran out before he could grab you. “Hey!”

~~~~~
You’re running back to the lair with so much excitement to show the boys the tattoo you got. It just finished healing and you can’t believe you managed to go two and a half weeks without spilling the beans. Finally making it through the main entrance, you yelled out “Guys!! Come to the kitchen!!” Thank goodness no one was asleep because you would’ve been met with fire. Once everyone was gathered in the kitchen and sitting in their seats, you decided to give the speech you planned out for them. “So. As you all know, I asked you guys to draw a flower for me. However, I didn’t tell you guys why. Well. I was thinking of how to show you guys how much you mean to me as a family and,” you pull up your sleeve to show them the artwork on the inside of your elbow, “I wanted to be able to have a piece of you guys with me. You guys are honestly the most important people in my life and I feel so much love for and from you guys.” You look up from the tattoo to look at the boys and you’re receiving mixed reactions. You suddenly get a little shy. What if they don’t feel like your family? However, Mikey stands up and walks in front of you and wraps his arms around you and shoves his face into the crook of your neck. You’ve never heard him so quiet and before you could say anything, you hear him sniffling. You wrap your arms around him tightly and start tearing up yourself. Leo, Raph, and Donnie stand up and wrap themselves around you guys. You look up and see the other boys are also tearing up. You have to hold back from letting out a sob. You’re so happy the boys reacted so well. You all stand there for a while before the guys pull back from you. Each one of them wanted to see your tattoo, but Mikey was first. He grabs your arm and looks at the tattoo closely, “I can’t believe someone got my art on them permanently.” Raph comes up behind him and takes your arm from Mikey, “I can’t believe it either. Especially with my mediocre scribbles.” Raphael then gives your head a loving pat. Donnie comes up next, “man, they did a great job on it too. You’ve always been a part of our family, Y/N.” The boys back up a bit as Leo steps forward. He gingerly grabs your arm and says, “this… is the best surprise.” You smile real big and jump on him wrapping your arms and legs around him. “The best family ever!!” you yell. The rest of the guys are also laughing at you before giving one last pat to your head.
Not A Webs Chance
Prompt: The boys are at it again in guessing who the mysterious, friendly neighborhood Spider Hero of New York could be. With a joking comment, the minds of each ninja begin to wonder if it is perhaps you under the mask!”
Notes:
(s/p) = spider persona name)
~xXx~ “All I’m saying is it’s kind of nice to have some of the heat off our shells for once.”, Leo defended, raising his arms from the back of the couch. The leader terrapin and his brothers sat in April’s and yours shared living room, the small old square tv in the center casting the news of events from a few hours prior. The headline “Super Market Robbery Put To A Quick Halt” streamed across the bottom of a recorded video of New Yorkers friendly (s/p) swinging off screen. “I miss kicking bad guy butt, but you do have a point bro.”, Mikey agreed, finishing off another pizza slice. “When’s the last time we got to finish a whole pizza in one sitting?!” “You mean all of us or just you? Cuz I can tell ya the answer to that real quick.”, Raph jested, his younger brother ignoring him in favor of grabbing another slice. Shaking off a slice offered by Donnie, Leo cheekily smirked at Raph. “You’re still just mad at the fact they totally whipped your behind when we first met.” Raph, grumbling, jabbed a digit towards the his brother. “Yeah, well I didn’t exactly see ya win the fight either. In fact, if I remember correctly they had ya danglin’ by Mikey’s nun-chucks.” With a dreamy sigh, ignoring the heat rising between both brothers, Mikey spoke through a mouth full of cheese. “That was so hot how they did it, too~.” Finishing his own slice and returning to a gadget in hand, Donnie let out a light chuckle. “You say that but you don’t even know them.” “Don’t you know actions speak louder than words?!”, Mikey swooned across Leo’s lap, the later shoving him of with an eye roll. “Besides, I already know who they are anyways.” At this, all turtles stopped what they were doing, sharply turning to the youngest with curiosity brimming in their eyes. Was this it? Were the boys finally going to find out who the mystery person behind the mask was after all this time of fighting crime side by side? “You saw their face?!”, all boys shouted in unison, leaning in towards the yellow bandanna turtle. With a big smile, and kicking his feet up onto the coffee table, Mikey replied. “Nope!” All brothers deadpanned, but before any could retort back, Mikey continued. “Don’t need to. I finally figured out who they are.” Leo chuckled incredulously, sitting back once more. “We already went over this Mikey. It’s not April.” “Or Master Shredder.”, came Donnie’s chime in. “Or that one guy runnin around’n a rat costume.”, added Raph. Mikey shook his head with a mildly irritated groan at his brothers mentions of his past theories to (s/p)’s true identity. “Just hear me out! I know I’ve got it this time!” Each ninja turtle listened doubtfully but motioned for Mikey to go on. “It’s clearly the cute delivery person. Why else would they leave me an extra slice of triple cheese, deluxe pepperoni?”, he smiled wide, making a mind blowing motion with his hands. “Uhm, because they didn’t want to waste any food at the end of the night? You’d be surprised how much humans throw out at closing.”, Donnie expressed knowledgeably. Falling back defeatedly into the sofa with crossed arms, Mikey huffed. “Well since you’re such a genius, who do you think it is, Don?” Donnie thought for a moment, adjusting his glasses. “The odds of us guessing who it is, or if we even know the person in such a heavily populated city is statistically extremely low.” Mikey rolled his head back with a loud groan and Leo laughed. “Come on, Don. You gotta guess someone. Anyone.” Donnie’s face scrunched up as he truly tried, Leo and Mikey throwing out more theories on who they thought the mystery person could be. Slightly frustrated, the leaner brother nodded his head towards Raphael. “Why don’t you guys ask Raph? He always seems to have something smart to say.” Playing with the toothpick between his teeth, Raph chuckled before throwing a thumb back to the kitchen. “Obviously, it’s that dork.” All eyes turned towards the human in the kitchen, the smell of cinnamon rolls in the oven wafting around them. Even though Raphael had been 100% joking around, the cogs in each of the four brothers brains began to turn as they gazed at none other than you. You, who stood in the kitchen with disheveled hair and wrinkly pajamas after waking from what was supposed to be a thirty minute nap turned six, were the only person neither of the ninja brothers had ever thought to consider. However, now watching as you carefully studied an oven mitt, they started to notice things they hadn’t before. You were about the right height and size as (s/p). Thinking back to certain moments, the brothers also realized how some of the things you both would say sounded similar. Heck, in some sense, even your voices sounded somewhat the same. It also seemed to be quite the coincidence that whenever their spidery friend swung off after defeating some baddies, you would show up moments later. Could it be? Could you truly be the person that occupied the ninja turtles minds with your spectacular crime fighting powers and personality?! Just as lightbulbs in the brothers minds were about to go off, they had all witnessed you toss the oven mitt in the air and try to, very unsuccessfully, karate jab your hand into said mitt, only for it to fall splat to the tiled floor. “Eeeyeeeeah, scratch that. I like Mikey’s rat costume guy betta.”, Raph spoke turning back around with his brothers. “Oh come on! You’re never gonna let that go, huh?!”, Mikey exasperated as another round of argumentative theories sprung up between the four. Too lost in each others reasonings for why or why not (s/p) could be this or that person, the four brothers missed you accidentally webbing your oven mitt to the ceiling in a re-attempt at earliers action, a panicked look quickly finding place on your face as you rushed to get it free.
Me reading the fanfic:
Me Reading The Fanfic:
Interstellar
Bayverse! Donatello x Reader
Interstellar
It was pure luck that they got to meet you, or perhaps it was fate. It all started with Kevin, their pizza guy. He was reliable, didn't particularly care that they were turtles. He simply did his job and kept it moving. A true New Yorker, through and through. But tonight, Kevin called in sick, and your boss asked you to do the deliveries. At first you didn't want to, it was late, and you didn't like walking around at night. But he promised that he'd only send you on local runs, and so you caved.
This was your last delivery of the night, and you were in a good mood. The heat that seemed to cling to every part of this awful city was finally dissipating, you had been given a twenty-dollar tip, and your boss' wife had offered you the last batch of cannoli's and a ride to your apartment over in East Flatbush. Things were good, great even.
The instructions had been a bit sketchy, even more so when the caller learned that Kevin wasn't going to be delivering. They, you could hear an amalgamation of voices on the other side of the call, tried their best to convince you to leave the pizza at a designated spot and they were to leave the money in that exact same spot.
You knew it was a scam so you threatened to hang up, but eventually, after a lot of infighting, they gave up and still placed an order for four extra large pies. You were sure to slip your mace into the pocket of your leggings before leaving.
You were expecting a group of teenage boys, not four overly grown mutant turtles.
It was a pleasant surprise. Perhaps it was your neurodivergence, but you weren't really that thrown off when Mikey had appeared from the shadows, rambling on and on about how starved he was. It took a few minutes for your head to wrap around it, but when it did you immediately blurted out that this was perhaps the best thing that could have ever happened.
"Giant, humanoid turtles!" you had shouted, letting go of the pizzas when Leo grabbed them.
"We're ninjas too!" Mikey had announced, seemingly just as excited as you were.
"Ninjas!" you repeated, as if it was the most incredible thing.
Donnie sat you down a few hours later, after you had clocked out and secured your box of cannoli's, to tell you that you had gone into shock. Perhaps were still in shock.
"Oh," you said, offering him a cannoli. "Does this mean we can't be friends?"
It was probably in that moment, sharing a cannoli with you in the middle of an alley in Brooklyn, that Donatello first found himself falling for you.
You and Mikey, you two were like two peas in a pod. Whenever he had a plan he would make sure to run it by you first. Were it pranks, a sick new choreograph, or maybe an idea for a comic book that he would forget about in a week, you were his partner in crime.
There was never a time when they felt like you judged them, made them feel like they were beneath you for being... different. You weren't like April, who was a bit more reserved. No, you embraced their quirks and their unique abilities. And that was something that Donnie found incredibly attractive.
He could talk to you for hours and you would sit and listen, you would ask questions, beg him to show you, to teach you. You were amazed at his skills, and he was enraptured with you. Late nights in the lab, where he would show you how to code, or build your own gadgets were his favorites. Then the rest of his family would fall asleep, and suddenly it was just you and him, the only two people in the world.
It was only natural that you would ask to go on patrol with them, He could see the curiosity in your eyes, anyone could. The answer was no, of course. What they did was dangerous, they got hurt. Raphael had a cracked shell that had almost taken his life, April had a scar on her bicep from getting stabbed. That was considered getting lucky. You were fragile, you would get hurt. He wouldn't allow it. He would not be responsible for putting you in danger.
"I'm not asking you to throw me into the middle of a battle, but I want to be a part of this as well. I don't want to be left out." You said, standing in front of him with your arms crossed.
He simply walked around you, itching to get on his computer. "No." is all he says, his mind made up.
"Donnie, come on." you whine, following to his lab.
"It's dangerous, you don't know what you're asking."
"I've been training with Raph and Leo, they said I'm good, that-"
"Good isn't great, Good isn't going to keep you safe."
He feels your fingers wrap around his forearm, the heat of your skin sinking into his as you stop him in his tracks. "You'll keep me safe, wont you?"
It's a dirty move, but the words go straight to his heart, making him flustered. Of course he would keep you safe. He would do anything to keep you safe. But he wasn't about to cave in. "You're not coming with us, that's final." He gently peels your fingers off of him.
"Please Donnie?" you whisper, stepping closer to him.
He has to swallow, has to stop himself from giving in to your plea. "I can't. I'm sorry. It's too risky. If you want to help, I can show you how to do that from the safety of the base. You can work at the computer, you can-"
This time you interrupt him, taking another step closer. He can smell the faint scent of your bodywash, feel the warmth that radiates off of you. It makes him swallow hard. He's being doing so good with keeping his feelings in check, but whenever you got too close things became difficult.
"Donnie I want to help. I'll be safe, I'll be careful. I'll do whatever you say, no questions asked. Please."
He found out a while ago that he had a weakness for begging. For the way your voice would slightly go up an octave, your eyebrows knitting together, the way your pupils would dilate. It made it impossible to say no to you. So he caved, weak to your pleading.
"Fine, but you stay with me at all times. You don't go off on your own, you don't engage with the enemy. You stay hidden and you let us do our job. Understood?"
You break into a wide smile, throwing your arms around his waist. "Thank you! Thank you!" you say, happiness bubbling your words.
With your face pressed against his chest and your hands interlocked just below his shell, Donnie feels his heart start to pound. It's like his brain malfunctions, and he's unable to think about anything but the way your body seems to fit so perfectly against his. He's never been hugged like this, never had someone hold onto him like they never want to let go. It's both exhilarating and terrifying.
His hand comes up to the back of your head, and he lets his fingers slip through your hair as he holds you in place.
He couldn't have picked a better night to show you the ropes. It's a rare occurrence that the city is so quiet and dead, but tonight is one of those. Donnie has glued himself to your side, choosing to ignore the teases from his brothers. He shows you things that are important, but always overlooked.
Things like where to hide, how to stay silent and unseen, and how to stay aware of your surroundings. He explains the importance of being patient and waiting for the right moment to strike. You listen to him with rapt attention, eager to learn all that you can from him. But the intense eye contact makes him nervous, and he stumbles over his words.
The night seems to fly by, and after stopping a robbery Leo calls it a night.
Raphael shoots him a look, a cocky smirk on his face as he throws his arm around Mikey. "Let's go Mikey, It's starting to feel a bit too romantic around here." Raphael says, chuckling as he pulls Mikey along.
Mikey waves at you, the same shit eating grin on his face. "See ya later, babes!"
You wave goodbye to both of them, and Donnie is fully aware of the blush on your cheeks as you turn around to face him. "We should celebrate!" you say, taking his hand.
His fingers are too big, and they swallow your hand." Sure," he whispers, unable to take his eyes off of them. "How do you want to celebrate?"
You tug, and he lets you pull him along the alley. "I saw a Mister Softee truck a couple blocks away. Lets go check if its still there!"
Donnie can't help but smile at your excitement, feeling his own heart start to race with anticipation. As you lead him towards the ice cream truck, he takes a moment to admire your beauty. The way your hair falls around your face, the way your eyes light up with joy at the prospect of ice cream. He can't help but feel a wave of emotion wash over him, a feeling he's been struggling to understand for some time now. He knows what it is, but he doesn't know if its something he's allowed to feel.
He waits for you in the shadows of the alley as you order the ice cream, his eyes glued down to his hand. He can feel the ghost of your touch still and it makes his stomach flip. He's never really had a... crush before, seeing as he was a talking mutant turtle living in the sewers. But he's seen enough movies, read enough books that he knows that he's in love with you. That his heightened heart rate, nervous behaviour, and constant desire to touch you, see you, hear you are all just symptoms of love.
Because at the end of the day, that's what he feels for you. But he's... well he's a freak and you're human. Even if you're friends, he knows you would never fall so low as to fall in love with him.
You come back and softly place his cup of strawberry covered soft serve into his hand. He's quick to push down his thoughts, fixing his face to match your smile.
"Come on," he says, unable to take his eyes off the way you lick at the ice cream on your knuckles. "I know the perfect place to enjoy this."
He takes you to one of his favorite spots, helps you climb the fire escape until you're both sitting on the ledge of the building, overlooking the Hudson and the Jersey lights.
You swing your legs, your eyes on the sight. You slowly eat your ice cream.
"Do you think its true?" you suddenly ask, turning to face him.
"Hmm?" He's got a mouthful and manners that prevent him from talking until he swallows.
You point at the group of people swimming in the river and he physically recoils.
"Do you think they'll end up with superpowers or something?"
He can't help but snort as he sets his empty paper cup down. "Oh it'll be something, with how dirty and disease riddled that water is I wouldn't be surprised if they become radioactive. They can kiss their health goodbye that's for sure. How much you wanna bet that they're tourists?"
You giggle, your eyes still glued on the tiny little figures splashing around the water. "It must be nice you know, being so carefree that you don't even care about the consequences. I wish I was that brave."
Maybe its the sugar running through his veins, or maybe its the damp New York heat, but Donnie feels something inside of him crumble. He's saved this city countless times, but somehow the idea of confessing to you was scarier than facing any of his enemies.
But he wants to, he has to. Sitting here with you, he realizes that he can't keep bottling up his feelings any longer. The odds are against him, but he wants to be brave. He calls out your name and you turn to look at him, dropping your head to the side.
"I like you" he blurts out, ripping the band-aid off. " As in more than just a friend. I keep thinking about you, about holding your hand." He's starting to get nervous and his mouth won't close.
"I can't seem to stop thinking about you. I like the way you laugh, the way you're so close with all of my brothers. You never judge us, you never make us feel like freaks. Even though that's exactly what we are."
"Donnie-"
He keeps rambling, tugging on the strap of his backpack. He can't look at you, too lost in his panicking thoughts to hear you trying to talk.
"And I know that there's no way you feel the same, I've ran the calculations, I've analyzed every possible scenario, and the chances are just too slim. But I can't help how I feel, and I just had to tell you. I like you so much, and I want to do all these things with you, like go on walks in the park, watch movies together, and I know we already do that but I want to experience all of those things again with you as my... girlfriend."
"Donnie can you-"
"Maybe this was a mistake, maybe I should have kept my mouth close but you look so beautiful right now and I'm just so tired of being-"
You've kissed him.
Your lips are soft and warm and so, so small against his. There's a hand on his thigh, pressing down in a way that makes him acutely aware of every single nerve in his body. He panics and scrambles back, his eyes wide.
"I..I" he stutters, unable to talk as he finally looks up at you.
You're smiling, your face flushed. "Sorry, you weren't letting me talk."
"You kissed me?" he asks, his voice coming out too high.
"I did... I... was I not supposed to?" when your smile falls, Donnie feels his stomach plummeting.
'No! No! It's not that!" he's quick to say, fixing the tilt of his glasses. "I didn't expect it. I was so sure that-"
"I like you, I've always liked you. Why do you think I spend so much time around you?"
"I just assumed-"
Its funny, how now you're the one not letting him talk. But perhaps its for the best.
"Donatello, I've been in love with you since day one."
Its like his world is crashing down around him at the same time its somehow coming into focus.
"I really, really want to kiss you again." you whisper, inching closer to him.
He swallows, and there's a tightening in his shell that heightens his senses. "I..." you're so close, and your hand comes to rest on his shoulder.
"Can I?" you ask, your breath against his face.
He nods, because it seems like it's all he's able to do and lets you break the space between them.
The kiss feels like a bolt of lightning shooting through him. He's aware of the differences between his body and yours. His scales against your skin, your nose brushing the flat curve of his face.
But in that moment, none of that matters. Where he thought your differences would create a barrier between you, they seem to have melted away. His arms wrap around you, pulling you closer, and he feels a jolt of pleasure at the way your body molds perfectly against his.
The kiss is slow, sweet, and even though he needs to breathe he lets you be the first one to pull away.
You're panting as you sit back on your legs, looking up at him with a smile.
Donatello's heart is pounding in his chest as he looks down at you, feeling a mix of disbelief and euphoria. He can't believe that he just kissed you, and that it felt so right. He reaches out to brush a stray strand of hair from your face, his hand lingering on your cheek.
"That was... amazing," he murmurs, his voice husky with emotion. "I never thought... I never thought it could feel like that."
You smile up at him, your eyes shining. "Me neither," you admit, reaching up to take his hand in yours. "But I'm so glad it did."
Donatello leans in to kiss you again, this time with a bit more confidence. He's still a little bit unsure of himself, but he knows that he wants to explore this new territory with you.
Somehow, he ends up on top of you, his hand cradling the back of your head, his mouth on your neck.
When he takes you home, he tries his best to stop staring at the purple bruise blooming on the apex of your neck. He never meant to give you a hickey, to mark you. But he finds that he really likes the way it looks on you, like you're his.
Donnie knows that it's not appropriate, that there will be questions and awkward conversations, but he can't help the sense of pride that fills him when he sees it.
The kiss goodbye is shorter, and he waits until you reach your room and wave at him from your window to head back to the lair.
As he makes his way back, his mind is racing with thoughts and emotions. He's scared, but excited. Happy, but also uncertain about what the future holds. He knows that being with a human is uncharted territory for him and he wonders if it's possible to make it work.
When he reaches the lair, he's greeted by Leo who sits at the Dojo, cleaning his weapons.
"Sit." he says, in that big brother voice of his that he pulls out when he's about to say something very important.
Donnie takes a seat in front of him, crossing his legs.
"So," Leo starts, setting his knives down. "Wanna tell me why you look like you're on cloud nine?"
Donnie feels his face flush, but he knows he can't hide anything from Leo.
"I kissed her," he admits, a small smile spreading across his face.
Leo's eyes widen in surprise. "And?"
"And she kissed me back," Donnie answers, still feeling the warmth of your lips on his.
Leo grins. "Well, it's about time!"
Donnie feels a weight lift from his shoulders as he tells his brother everything.
We're Sorry Pt. 5
TMNT X Reader
Part 3: https://juggernaut-sika.tumblr.com/post/654086142262673408/were-sorry-pt-3 One Year Later The whole microchip thing was a complete
The gentle rays of the sun peeked through an uncovered slit in the cargo container. The warmth of the rays on your eyelids stirred you from your sleep as you snuggled under your blanket just a little more. Squinting as the sliver of light met your pupils, you sat up and rubbed the drowsiness from them. You then sat there for a few minutes, eyes closed, to wake up and gain the energy to get out of bed. That's when you smelt it. The smell of freshly cooked food for people's morning meal. The rumbling of your stomach was finally enough to get you off your butt. "Alright, up an-at'em!"
You swiftly and smoothly swung your heavy coat over your shoulders as the doors were sent swinging open by your hands. Was it possibly dangerous for you to be out in the open during the day? Yes. Could you very easily get caught? Yup! Did you care at the moment? Ha, no! Food was number uno on your mental list, riiight after caution of course.
Making your way down the half destroyed building you were living on, you carefully took in your surroundings. Taking in how many people walked passed you, what places were more busy than others and whether or not officers were about. You then noticed a guy, who looked to be a tourist, was walking in your direction. You shook your head at him, watching as he kept all his focus on taking pictures of the buildings instead of watching where he was going and... a perfect target! You advanced towards him, head low.
"Oh, s-sorry!" The guy apologized after he was shoved aside when your shoulder bumped his. Some papers were knocked from his satchel, gaining his attention after staring at your back for a moment as you hunched off. "Man...what a jerk." He thought, now gathering the papers on his knees. Little did he know the rude stranger was an expert pickpocket that plucked the precious leather fold from his back jean pocket.
"Jack pot!" You sang to yourself in a dark corner of an ally as you counted the $600 in cash the bill fold had stored. Not wanting the heat from the cards he had, you tossed the wallet in a planter as you passed a café. "Hello, I'd like to order a (L/M/S) pizza with (T) and a (s/f) please!" You ordered from a stolen flip phone. "Uh huh, I need it delivered to Walt Whitman Branch Brooklyn Public Library. Yeah, just put it on the first step. The money will be waiting for you there!" Hanging up, you hid yourself behind a corner of the building to wait for your meal to arrive.
30 minutes later
A feeling began to form in your stomach as you watched the pizza guy arrive and step out of his vehicle. the aroma of pizza tickled your nose as soon as he opened the car door. You couldn't help the small smile that tugged at your lips as the guy looked around for whoever the order was for but placed the food on the first step and took the money plus tip, of course! You may be a pickpocketing thief but you still tip your waitresses!
Time skip: Back at Your Place
"Awe yeah!" You say to yourself as you spun the box on your finger tip. You walk over to a ledge and sit criss-cross, pizza now sitting on your lap. You took in the savory smell before chowing down. You enjoyed every bite, every delicious topping until it was all gone and you were stuffed. "Man, I can't remember the last time I ate a meal like that." You say to yourself after taking a drink from your beverage.
When lunch time rolled around you continued your tricks and same for supper. You almost got caught once but a good scare sent the kid crying to his parents. You didn't do much in the wee hours. You walked around a bit but that's about it.
Leaning against a metal support you watched the late night buzzing view for a little while. It was nice to watch the busyness of the streets, though, another part of your yearned to be apart of it again. You sigh as the prodding feeling of loneliness creeped into your chest. It's been almost four years now since you escaped and the longer you kept yourself from reaching out to April and the other two the more this feeling grew. "Ugh!" You growled wanting to give in so badly and ask for help but another part kept telling you no, don't do it. Not that it had a real reason for wanting to stop you.
Another sigh escaped your lips before you pulled out the flip phone and timidly flicked it open. You stared at the screen for a while, still heavily debating on doing this. "I need the help." You choked before dialing the familiar number. Your heart seemed to jump and race in your chest as the phone rang. "Hello?" A familiar yet quizzical voice rang in your ear. "April?" Your chest was tight and the phone went silent for a second or two. "Y-Y/n?" Her voice was hopeful. "Um, I...I need your help." Your voiced pitched as the pent up tears stung your eyes and threatened to trail down your cheeks.
"Omg, where are you? Are you hurt? Casey, it's Y/n!" Adrenaline rush through April as she quickly got off her couch and grabbed some things. "Y/n, stay right where you are, don't go anywhere. Just stay on the phone with me!" She insisted as she pulled her shoes on her feet before her and Casey rushed out the apartment building.
Some time later
Seeing April and Casey step out of their car, you stood on the ledge. "I'm on top of the building..." You say weakly into the phone. This felt surreal to you like you were just dreaming and at any moment you would wake up. And that worried you. You wanted this to be real. You wanted to believe that April and Casey were really here to help you. You wanted to believe that you were hearing April's voice over the phone and all the way up the flights of stairs until they reached your floor. "Y/n?" Her voice was still hopeful but more confident as her eyes scanned your back. Your heavy coat making it difficult to make out your form.
The hand that held the phone slowly dropped to your side and you glanced over your shoulder at her. You studied her, seeing if there was any doubt in her body language before you turned to face her. April squinted in the dim lighting and she slowly approached you. "Y/n?" She called again. "Y-yeah..." You choked up and stepped off the ledge towards her. Her face dropped an expression of relief and sorrow stretched across it. Like a mother who found her lost child. She rushed towards you, wrapping her arms around you tightly as she cried into your shoulder.
Your shaky hands balled into fists as you returned the long awaited hug. The silent tears that formed in your eyes now stained her shirt. Then another embrace warmed you as Casey joined you guys. "Let's get out of this dark place, c'mon." Casey said and lead the way back downstairs.
Casey hopped in the driver seat and April sat in the back with you. As soon as the lights of the car hit your face April froze. "Casey..." She said as she stared at your reptilian skin. "Omg." Casey said in udder disbelief when he looked over his shoulder. "I'm sorry...this was a bad idea!" You whimpered quietly before backing out of the back seat. "No! Y/n, we didn't mean it like that!" April's hands found your arm and held it firmly in hopes of preventing you from leaving. "Just get in and we'll take you to my place, okay?" She insisted as she pulled you towards her.
"Have you been living there this entire time?" The silence that took over the car was broken by April's sudden question. "For four years, yeah. I...I was afraid to ask for help...I don't know why. I...I don't know." You trail off, not once looking at them. "We've been looking everywhere for you! But when we couldn't find you...we..." "We thought the foot had you but even they couldn't find you. It's like you disappeared off the face of the earth." Casey finished after April hesitated. "No...after I broke out of that one place, I ran. I didn't know where I was but I some how found my way back to New York and hid away..."
April hugged you. "I'm sorry they did this to you. I should have walked you home or at least offered you a ride home." She muttered. "I've been doing okay on my own it's just....been lonely..." You reply. "So wait a minute...does that mean you're the sandwich thief that has been going around the city stealing?" Casey ask as he turned a corner. "Sandwich thief?" You inquired. April then pulled out her phone to bring up a recent News article titled The Sandwich Thief's Ongoing Streak.
As she read the article to you the place and unknown description seemed to jog your memory. It was storming that night and heavily raining. The shop owner had a good scare and almost took your head off with his firearms. "Got lucky on that one didn't yuh?" A small smirk tugged at Casey's lips. "Yeah...he almost took my head off." You chuckle sheepishly. April and Casey shared a laugh as you guys road for the next twenty minutes.
You and April continued talking and catching up while Casey drove you all back to Manhattan. That is...until Casey heard a ping from his dashboard. His attention immediately went to a gps tracker that alerts him of Foot clan activity. Donnie made it in case he was able to join them in taking Foot clan soldiers down if he were close enough. This time however, the activity showed up behind you all. Casey looked in his rear view mirror to see a large truck following you all. "Uh...April. I think we may have company." He said as the truck sped up. "Get us out of here!" April called as two motorcycles pulled up on either side of the car.
A high speed chase ensued as Casey drifted through the streets in an attempt to lose the soldiers. He had already pressed the emergency button next to the GPS to send a signal to the turtles that he needed backup. He just had to keep them off his tail to give the guys time to get to you all. "Aaah!" Both you and April yelped when the truck rammed into the back of the car in an attempt to push you all off the road. Thankfully Casey seemed to be managing well.
It felt like an eternity before you manage to lose them somehow. Once the opportunity arose, Casey drifted into a warehouse where you three sat in silence for some time. "You two get out." Casey ordered. April opened her door without question and pulled you with her. Screeching off, Casey booked it out of the warehouse to lure the Foot away and it seemed to work...for now. "Ok, come-come over here. Let's hide here until he comes back." April panted as you two hunkered under some crates. She found a nearby tarp and pulled it over the boxes and yourselves to hide the both of you.
An hour passes then two then three while you both sat huddled together in silence. "I hear an engine. You hear it?" You whisper, listening closely to the noises outside. "I know that sound. Wait here." April grunted as she ducked out from under the tarp. Doing as she said you rest your back against a crate until she returned.
The tarp is then suddenly yanked from over you about five minutes later. "Jesus April, don't do that you scared the shit out of me!" You cried out. "C'mon, the guys are here. I've already explained everything to them." She said, offering her hand to you. "Even?..." You gestured to yourself timidly. "That part I told them they would have to see to understand." She said before taking your hand and helping you to your feet.
Mikey
"Oh, Y/n! We're so sorry! Please forgive us! We promise to never ignore you again. Never ev...er!" I embraced her until I slowly set her down when got a good look at her. "Whoa." I gasped. I didn't realize I was staring until she hugged herself and scratched the back of her head. I take a few steps back to really look at her. Her (s/c) skin glistened in the headlights of the turtle truck. 'Wow, I don't remember her being this beautiful. Was she always this beautiful?' I think to myself.
Raph
'What the hell did they do to her? Those bastards!' I could begin to feel my blood boil after everything began to sink in. But... I also felt oddly at ease now that she's here with us. Even though she looked scared...I couldn't help the butterflies in my stomach when I saw her face. One minute I want nothing to do with her and now... she's the most gorgeous girl in the world. "Okay, we should get back to the lair before more Foot soldiers arrive." Donnie suggested, seeming to snap everyone back to reality. Even Leo seemed dazed by how she looks.
Donnie
As we got Y/n into the truck I took it upon myself to give Y/n a quick check up to make sure she wasn't hurt in any way while Raph drove. As I check her...I began to notice more and more details about her. She's beautiful! Wait...no! What? No, no. I can't be thinking like this. We are still in a dire situation right now- well, maybe not dire but still dangerous...she...she is quite beautiful though...Ah! Stop it Donnie! Get yourself together! She could be hurt somewhere and your just gawking at her.
Leo
I just watched her...I had nothing to say to her...I was at a complete loss of words. She went through so much and yet she still came back to us for help. God, what kind of person was I to treat her like that? I need to make it up to her, anyway I can, I have to make it up to her! My attempts to keep my attention focused on getting home were futile as I kept finding myself staring at her...she wasn't doing anything but sitting there quietly and yet I was so intrigued by her... but...why? I mean...she does look.. pretty...What am I thinking? I wouldn't be surprised if she yelled at us later for how we treated her and yet here I am aweing at her. Maybe when we get to the lair I'll be able to focus better. We still have to get her situated.
Dangerously Stupid
Part 1
I wrote this half asleep at 3am and have not proof read this at all, I’m so sorry.
Generation: Bayverse TMNT
Donatello x reader
Pronouns: Gender neutral
Warnings: fighting, blood, injury, not proof read
Summary: You watched the turtles stop the Foot from robbing a bank one night and step in to save Donatello while he’s down. What will happen next?
✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
Two months. You had lived in New York City only two months before you got caught up in a Foot Clan attack. Just your luck.
You were walking home late from your new, and already shitty job, when you heard loud banging noises from a closed bank up the road. Crossing to the other side of the street as you approached the building, you heard a loud crash of glass and paused in your steps. Waited, and listened. A robbery?
You didn’t have another second to process that thought when suddenly a loud explosion erupted from the building, the shock sending you stumbling back and falling on your butt.
Brick and concrete were strewn across the street, thankfully not being launched far enough to hit you. But then you noticed something from the smoking hole in the building. A quick flash of movement, the sound of a thud and a loud shout. Eyes wide and stunned, you watched as several people in black tactical gear were thrown yelling from the hole in the building out into the street. They had swords?? And guns. They had guns.
Adrenaline kicked in and you scrambled to your feet and rushed for cover in the closest alley way. Shit. Dead end. Quickly creeping back to the entrance you peaked around the corner to the open street. The thugs had started to recover slightly and were raising to their feet, looking around quickly like they were being haunted and drawing their weapons. If you ran out now they would surely see you, so you stood still and watched for an opening.
Suddenly, something large climbed out from the smoking building and the men quickly aimed and fired their guns at it.
Your eyes shot open in horror and brought a hand to your mouth to stifle your gasp as you recognized too late that it was a person- or so you thought. The large being quickly turned around as the bullets came and you watched in disbelief as the bullets bounced off their back. What was that, a shell?! The smooth hard panels reflected light from the street lamp and the flashes from the guns.
A loud thud and a grunt of pain brought your attention back to the thugs. Another large being had dropped down from above and landed behind the men in tactical gear, knocking back two of them and in a flash of metal, sliced a gun in half. This one was a bit closer to you. From what you could see, they were bald… and green? Much like the other guy. You noticed he was wielding two katana, and was making quick work of the thieves.
The other green guy by the building had now recovered and was running over with a rageful battle cry to assist in taking out the last of the goons.
But to your surprise, more people were thrown out from inside the building with a cheerful shout of ‘booyakashaaa!’ and a third large green man jumped out from the building. This one was cheering and swinging around what looked like nunchucks in a flourishing display and made a cool looking pose.
Now you were just feeling comically confused. Your eyes narrowed to observe the orange band around his eyes and take in his outfit, which looked like hard armor on his front and… jean board shorts. Mouth drawn in a tense line, your brain helpfully concluded that these guys were just really weird green body paint wearing commando-type jock vigilantes. Or you just hit your head when you fell back from the explosion and didn’t notice. Either way, you felt yourself relax and mentally shrugged, seeming as the weird giant costumed turtle-looking guys were taking out the bad guys with guns. Maybe you could get home soon and address whether you were hallucinating or not.
It seemed like the battle was just about wrapping up, when suddenly another masked vigilante appeared from inside the building. He quickly pushed the orange one away and shouted “Get back!” just as a second larger explosion burst from inside the building. You ducked for cover as more brick and mortar rained down from the building, and watched as the purple masked vigilante was thrown harshly from the building out into the street. He landed with a groan on his side, not too far from your hiding spot. You could see his shell was equipped with old recycled looking tech, and a long metal pole he seemed to have dropped was laying not too far from him.
“DONNIE!” The three other shelled vigilantes yelled, and started to book it towards their fallen comrade, when suddenly a black van came speeding down the street and rammed into the back of the red masked guy, sending him hurtling forward as the car came to a screeching halt. The doors flung open and more thugs with swords jumped from the car and started to attack the blue and orange masked guys.
You shrunk back more in your hiding place, afraid they would spot you. But then the sound of another car door opening caught your attention. The tech turtle guy was still in your line of sight, unconscious in the street. A woman with black hair and a red streak appeared before him. She pulled out her katana and raised it above her head and prepared to strike-
“NO!!!”
In a flash, you had leapt out from the alley and sprinted into the street. You weren’t thinking, moving on pure instinct as you stood defensively over the prone form of the turtle man and raised up your arm to block the swing of the sword. Somehow, you managed to block the woman’s strike. Your forearm braced against the wrapped handle. The women stared back at you in shock, then turned cold at your interference and doubled down the power in her grip. That’s when you noticed the sharp pain shoot through your shoulder. You groaned as your arm trembled with the strain of the woman still pressing down against your blocked swing. You may have stopped the sword from reaching the vigilante, but you did not have the power to stop the blade from cutting into the flesh of your trapezius.
The woman angrily pulled back, dragging her sword more through your shoulder and you cried out in pain. You stumbled into a crouch in front of the downed turtle, gripping at your wound while she recovered her form. To your horror, she readied to mercilessly strike you again when suddenly, the red masked vigilante appeared from the side and bodily rammed into her, sending the woman flying into the hood of the car in revenge.
“Eat that.” you heard him grumble while he rolled his shoulder. The large red masked turtle turned his attention to you and his eyes regarded you steadily. You were panting lightly and held his eyes for a moment before you both heard the quiet groan come from behind you. You quickly turned around, and saw that the purple vigilante was starting to come around. You placed your free hand lightly on his shoulder as his eyes fluttered open, leaning down a little to get a better look at his face.
“Hey, are you alright?” You asked him. Now that you were this close, you noticed the shape of his face was quite different, and the smooth skin under your hand didn’t feel like paint. You tried not to think too hard on it.
Behind you, Leo jogged over towards Raph while Mikey finished tying up the last of the Foot. Upon seeing a human crouched next to Donnie, he shot Raph a questioning look, to which the red turtle simply shrugged. Leo turned his attention back towards you as Donnie started to pull himself up into a sitting position, and noticed the blood seeping through your fingers clasped on your shoulder.
His eyes widened and rushed over to the human and his brother. “Hey, you’re bleeding-!”
“Wha…?” Donnie was still only half conscious. He thought he was dreaming, opening his eyes to such a beautiful person looking down concerned at him. Carefully, he pulled himself into a sitting position and was startled by his older brother running over to him in concern. At first he though Leo was talking about him, and glanced down at himself quickly to check for any open wounds, but when he found nothing he looked up and saw where the leader’s eyes were leading and found the spot where your hand was pressed over the bloody spot on your shoulder. “Oh dear, let me look at that….” Donnie’s brain fully woke up and he quickly shifted into doctor mode, gently taking hold of your arm to pull your hand away from the wound.
You had shifted your attention and were carefully regarding the blue turtle that had rushed over to crouch next to you, when you were startled by the sudden contact of a large hand enclosing around your wrist. You made a little yelp of pain as your hand was pulled from the bloodied wound, and when you turned back to look at the purple vigilante, your breath caught in your throat by the intense golden eyes staring at you.
Raph came to stand behind you and Leo to overlook the inspection of your wound. “Karai tried to slice up Don while he was down, but this kid jumped in and stopped her.” He supplied a bit gruffly. Raph regarded the small human with mixed feelings. He didn’t wanna trust them, but he had just witnessed this total strange swoop in outta nowhere and save his bro.
The expression on Leo’s face shifted to surprise, eyeing Raph to check he was being serious before turning back to regard the bloodied wound this human had sustained in defense of his brother. He opened his mouth to thank you but was cut off-
“Donnie!! I found your glasses!! -Woah! Bro! Who’s the pretty face?” Mikey chimed in and came rushing over excitedly to join the party.
Donnie was focused on carefully inspecting the wound, and trying his best not to overheat under the gaze of the beautiful stranger whose shoulder he was carefully prodding. The small human flinched suddenly with a small cry of pain when he pulled at the skin a bit to check the depth of the cut. Donnie hissed and pulled back. “Sorry about that- Oh, thank you Mikey.” He reached his hand out and his little bro returned his glasses to him. A little scrapped but still wearable. “Your cut is pretty deep. You should go to the hospital right away. Do you need us to call you an ambulance?”
Donnie was already reaching into his pouch to pull out some spare gauze. His mind was racing a mile a minute, and was trying so hard to stay focused on his task. He didn’t hear Leo and Raph’s exchange. He still felt a little shaken up from the explosion. Slightly bruised, and judging from how flustered and distracted he was feeling, maybe a little concussed. Every time he looked up to meet the stranger’s eyes he felt his heart jump in his chest and his breath catch in his throat. Don decided he just needed to quickly finish patching them up and get home to properly check himself over for injuries.
You, on the other hand, were feeling just as dazed and awestruck at the being that was currently looking you over. You watched this large human turtle work intently on gently applying a pad of gauze over your wound to stem the blood flow, and couldn’t help but feel like you were dreaming. You watched him quietly while your brain helpfully commented on how cute he looked with his taped turtleshell glasses on. But you startled at remembering he had asked you something. “…hm? Oh! A-an ambulance? No thank you. I think I’ll be fine.” You barely noticed the red seeping through the make shift bandage, keeping your attention focused on studying the purple one’s face so you could save it to your memory as he finished up working on your shoulder.
Mikey, who had been waiting intently for his chance to talk to you, had caught on to the tension between you and Donnie. “Broooooo… you feeling alright?” He asked curiously.
Donnie startled at the question and turned away from you, looking a little embarrassed and adjusting his glasses. “J-just fine, Mikey. Maybe a little bruised.” He quickly supplied.
However, a huge grin startled to stretch across Mikey’s face as he connected the dots, and opened his big mouth to tease when Raph’s big hand suddenly smushed into his face and shoved him off away from the scene.
“Come on bozo, give them some room. Let’s go check on the Foot.” Raph had taken pity on Donnie and decided to quickly redirect his hyper little bro. The quicker they could finish up here and head home the better.
Once Donnie appeared to be finished, Leo had gotten up and reached down to offer you a hand up. You were feeling pretty overwhelmed now that the adrenaline was starting to wear off. But you quietly took the offered hand and stood on shaky legs, feeling your head swim for a minute you leaned more heavily into the support of the blue masked turtle as you steadied yourself, your shoulder giving you a painful throb.
Leo kept a careful eye on Donnie as the tech genius pushed himself to stand up after you. As he leader he had to make sure there were no outstanding injuries he had missed on his brother while looking after this stranger. But he noted that Donnie seemed pretty dazed, and wouldn’t take his attention off this person who had saved him. He raised a questioning eye ridge in the direction of his brother and looked between the two, letting a small smile tug at the corner of his mouth. He reached over a slapped a hand down on Donnie’s shoulder to jostle his attention. “Good work Donnie. Now, Mx….”
“(Y/n)… (Y/n) (L/n). Um… thank you for patching me up…. Donnie, was it?” You had to admit you were feeling a little dizzy from the blood loss. But you really wanted to remember this moment, so you did your best to focus on the purple terrapin.
“Donatello, or… Donnie, if you prefer.” Donnie found himself smiling down at the small person. He felt Leo shake his shoulder a bit and shot him a questioning glance.
“Well, aren’t you gonna thank them for saving your sorry shell?” Leo teased his brother, it was clear to him Donnie was developing a bit of a crush, so he thought he’d torture him a bit. “Raph said they stopped Karai from slicing you a new one. You’re lucky they got to you in time.” Leo said a little more seriously. He realized then just how lucky they were you had been here, or else Donnie might be in much worse shape.
Donnie’s eyes snapped wide in shock, his eyes darting between you and Leo. His gaze landing on the cut he had just tended on your shoulder. “R-Really…? You got this protecting me…? I… th-thank you!” Donnie seemed really flustered. He looked guilty, but also a bit awestruck a random beautiful human off the street had stepped in to his defense, and at this moment, didn’t seem scared of him. You just stared up at him, and when he reached out to take your hand to squeeze in appreciation, you didn’t flinch away. “I-if there’s anything you need, just let us know… d-do you need help getting help getting to the hospital….? I mean- the police will get here soon but once-”
You felt your face heat up at the contact, feeling your heart rate speed up a bit, but quickly remembered why you couldn’t take their advice and quickly cut him off. “N-No! Really, I’m fine. I’m just glad you’re okay. I can get there on my own.” You gave him and the other large turtle a reassuring smile, just as you heard the approaching sirens sound out in the distance.
“Okay, time for us to go. Mx. (Y/l/n), thank you for saving my brother. And please… don’t tell anyone about us. We’ll be in touch.” Leo hurried out, leaving your side to tug his brother away from you as Raph and Mikey hurried off ahead to expertly climb up the closest building.
You watched in awe at their skill, seamlessly scaling the fire escape and brick before disappearing above the sky line. But noticed the purple turtle… Donnie, had stopped to turn back and get one last look at you, before disappearing along with his brothers into the night.
“Hm…. Donatello…. I’ll have to remember that.” You said to yourself. You quickly turned to leave, making to start walking home, thankfully in the opposite direction of the sirens. You had no desire to spend the next two hours giving statements to the police and being dragged off to an overly expensive hospital tonight. You just wanted to get home and take care of this cut yourself, and save yourself a decade’s worth of medical debt. Yeah, that’s exactly what you’d do.
You slowly walked down the dark streets and made your way back safely to your little apartment.
And promptly passed out on the couch.
Part 2 coming soon.
It was Saturday. The perfect day for a hangout at the lair, you sat wedged between Leo and Raph, laughing at something Mickey had said. The atmosphere was chill and pleasant. April and you brought Pizza with you and the boys had set up a corner with blankets and beanbags for you all to lounge, relax and just talk the night away. With all the commotion, none of you noticed Donnie not saying a word throughout the evening. He just sat on the floor, taking it all in.
“Here look.” Raph said, unbinding his mask and tied it around your head. “Ha! See? It looks great on you!”
“Woah, looking like that maybe you should go on the next mission with us.” Leo said, wrapping his arm around you giggling. You laughed with him.
The Evening went on. April put on some music and pulled you up to dance with her. Mickey joined and grabbed your hand, twirling you around. You laughed and after the third rotation you became dizzy, stopping Mickey from turning again by hugging him.
“Slow down, Mickey.” You cackled, hugging him tighter. Suddenly Donnie sprang up from where he was sitting.
“(Y/N)!” Everybody looked at him. His expression was furious. “We need to talk.” He said looking at you, his brows furrowed.
“Yikes, he looks pissed, what did you do, (y/n)?” April questioned you. But you didn’t know either. Following him to his Lab you considered the possibilities. You didn’t break anything in his Lab, right? God, you hoped you didn’t. Did you forget an important meeting or something. Being in thought, you didn’t realize you already being at your destination, his laboratory. He had stopped walking and turned to you, you bumped into him.
“Oh, sorry, I-“ You began to say, but he grabbed the front of your shirt and pulled you up. You let out a shriek. He looked scary, standing in this half-lit room, with this dark look on his face.
“You-“ he said, holding you tighter by your collar. You started to sweat. “-are gonna go out with me.”
You looked at him confused. “Go where?” You asked, he scoffed.
“Don’t play dumb, I’m saying that I’d very much like you to date me.” Seeing you still looking confused he continued, letting your shirt go.
“I haven’t been able to uphold my composure for a while now whenever you touch the others. It’s really starting to agitate me. So, I’m just gonna make you mine!”
There was a short pause.
“Donnie, you like me?” you asked.
“I do.”
“…Romantically?”
“Certainly.”
“Your reason?” He looked thoughtful for a second before answering.
“I don’t really know. I’ve never been in love before? Ever since April introduced you to us, I’ve been watching you and it’s really been bugging me.”
Your mind started to remember something in that moment. It was a documentary you watched a few weeks back. It talked about Baby-ducks and how they perceive the first thing they see after hatching as their mother and subsequently develop affection for it. You blinked, understanding. This guy’s been living inside the sewers with his brothers for years, not really interacting with the outside world, let alone people his age. And if he did, it was because he had to fight them.
You being the first friendly acquaintance he spent a lot of time with, except for April, which you learned was more like a sister to the boys. He mistook the first stirring of attachment for someone as love. But you couldn’t tell him that, he wouldn’t understand. You didn’t know what to do. Maybe…
“Alright.” You began. “I’ll go out with you.”
“Really?” he looked bewildered.
“Yeah, but in exchange you can’t get angry anymore when I talk to the others…it’s annoying.”
Instead of explaining to him what you concluded about his feelings, you felt it was easier just to date him, until he realizes his mistake on his own.
“Okay, I understand.” He spoke. You held out your hand to shake his.
“It’s a promise then!” you said. “And if you break it, we break up.” He hesitated but shook your hand none the less.
“It’s settled then.” You smiled. He didn’t say anything in return. He just grabbed you by the shoulder pulling you toward him. His lips touched yours. You froze.
“I’d never imagined you’d agree to this so easily, I estimated having to put more effort into it, so my equanimity is kind of crumbling right now. But that means that from now on you’re all mine.” He grinned, walking out of the Lab, doing a fist-bump in the air. “Donatello, you did it again.” And he was gone.
Your knees buckled and you sank to the floor. “Shit.” You put your hand over your mouth. “What have I done.”
——-
After a few minutes of you trying to find your composure and slowing down your racing heart you began to walk back to the others.
“-and then they said yes and I kissed them and now we are dating.” You heard Donatello say and you saw him standing in front of the others his arms outstretched gesturing wildly. April and the boys looked at him dumbfounded. When they noticed you, their eyes fell on you staring at you questioningly. Donatello, realizing their eyes weren’t on him anymore turned around.
“(Y/n)! There you are!” he exclaimed, rushing toward you hugging you tightly. Your whole body became rigid and you blushed from embarrassment. You felt all eyes on you. Donnie then pulled back, only to lean in to kiss you again. In your panicked state you raised your hand and slapped him.
You heard gasps from the others, Donatello looking at you with wide eyes. You took him by the arm and pulled him back to the Lab.
He sat against the wall holding his face where you had slapped him, looking up at you. You paced in front of him then stopped and met his eyes.
“I would like for you to keep our relationship a secret.” You said.
“But why?” he answered with a hurt expression. “We are not doing anything we would need to hide.”
He was right. Under normal circumstances being loving in front of others was a normal relationship-thing to do. But seeing that you only agreed to date him since it would end quickly - as quickly as he would understand his mistake of loving you – you didn’t want the others to know. It saved you a lot of embarrassment and teasing.
“Well, it’s embarrassing, I don’t like the others staring. So please stop hugging me and doing other stuff in front of them.” You tried to explain. He didn’t answer, he just looked at your somber expression.
“Promise me, if you can’t keep your promise, I can’t date you!” he flinched then.
“Alright, alright….” He began. “I don’t understand what you mean, but if you don’t like it then I won’t do it. I’ll conceal our relationship and I’ll refrain from grabbing you in front of the others. I promise, so please…-” he held out his hand. “-stop making that face.” You extended your arm grabbing his hand in yours, shaking it.
You sighed and sat next to him, for a few seconds neither one of you said anything, then you felt his head drop on your shoulder. You looked at him. He was being needy. You’d never imagined Donatello being the kind of person to be needy with the one he likes. You felt him nuzzle closer to you. It looked adorable. For a few minutes you let him lean on you.
“We should get back to the others.” You said, standing up.
When you arrived back where the other were sitting you heard them talking with each other with hushed voices.
“There they are.” April whispered and you looked down ashamed. Donatello noticed.
“I was just joking.” He then proclaimed. The others didn’t look convinced. “You know me, Donatello, always the funny one. But I see my jestering didn’t get through to you. So, I’ll reiterate: me and (y/n) are not dating.” Mickey was the first one to react and speak up.
“Ha…haha, okay you got us there Donnie, uh- you two wanna sit back down?” You did, the rest of the evening went by with Donnie not once mentioning you or your relationship. April still teased you about it, when you walked out of the lair.
——-
It had been an uneventful day for you. It was getting dark as you walked back to your apartment. You decided to take the short route through the park next to your complex. As you had made it almost half way through you felt yourself being pulled into the nearby bushes. You wanted to scream and hit whoever had the nerve to touch you, but as you looked up you saw Donatello. He pushed you down by your shoulders so you laid on the grass.
“Alright, we should have some privacy here.” He said, kneeling down in between your legs.
“Huh? For what?” you asked.
“What do you think, we’re gonna have se-“ “-HEY, HEY, WHA-“ “Shhh, be quiet, do you want someone to find us?” He put his hand over your mouth. “Mhh.” Was all you could say. You had forgotten how strong he was, pulling at his arm to get his hand off your face was impossible for you. His other hand slowly went under your shirt. Tears began to fill your eyes. As he leaned over you, he saw your watery eyes and his widened.
“Are you cryin-“  In that moment both your hand came flying to his face from either side. He flinched back sitting up, you did the same and pushed at his shoulders to throw him off completely. You scrambled back.
“Are you insane?” you yelled at him.
“That’s what I want to ask. It’s fine, as long as the other are not here, right?”
“NO!” you sat down in front of him. “Why would you think it’s okay to do this- and in the bushes, at that.”
“We’re dating, let me at least do that.” He looked at you bewildered.
“If you want to do something like…that. You have to get consent from both parties involved!”
“Then give me consent.”
“No! Donnie, you’re being selfish! Kissing me without my input, wanting to have sex with me without my permission, you can’t do that, that’s not love! All you do is stuff you want, without thinking about my feelings first, wanting me all to yourself…it’s just selfish possession!”
You took a breath, you wanted him to realize this baby-duck-stuff on his own, but he was being an idiot. You had no other option than to tell him. Now he would get what a huge dimwit he’d been.
“Okay…I won’t kiss you until you agree, I won’t touch you until you agree and I won’t have sex with you until you agree.” He stood up, looking down to you. That’s not how you planned this at all. He reached his hand out to you and you flinched lightly.
“Come on, I said I won’t do anything.” He came down to your level. “Promise.” He held out his hand again and you shook it. You two were still dating.
—–
After your little incident in the park, Donatello kept his promise of not touching you.
For about a week your life got back to normal, you almost forgot about the whole dating thing.
Almost. You felt that he was unsatisfied with your arrangement. He tried not to show it, but his mood showed that he was frustrated. Today, the group had planned to have a movie night in the lair, when you and April arrived the boys already sat in the living room, except for Donnie. As you sat down on the couch, Leo came up to you.
“You’ll love this movie, (y/n), I picked it out with you in mind.” He slung his arm around your shoulder.
“Wow, now I’m actually excited to know, what you think it is I like.” You laughed lightly. Suddenly the atmosphere in the room changed, from light and happy to absolutely murderous. When you looked back, Donnie was standing in the doorway, with a dangerous look on his face. His face was twisted into a scowl. You stood up, walking towards him, taking his wrist in your hand, you pulled him to the side.
“That was just a friendly interaction, Donnie.”
“I didn’t say anything.” Suddenly you heard Leo giggling quietly. When you glanced at him, he was whispering something in Aprils ear, while looking at you.
“We’re not dating, Nardo!” Donnie said. “Come on, you’re making (y/n) uncomfortable.” Leonardo looked surprised then made eye contact with you.
“Sorry, we’ll stop.” You nodded, looking back at Donnie with one eyebrow raised.
“You do know that you were the one who told them in the first place, right?”
“I’m aware.” He looked sad. You wrecked your brain for a way to cheer him up.
“Donnie, after the movie…do you want to go grab a coffee with me?” His eyes widened and he looked at you.
“You…you don’t mind?”
“I’m totally fine with that, that’s why I asked.” You smiled at him.
“…yeah…yeah, I’ll get coffee with you.” He said quietly, holding his hand in front of his face to hide the blush. Your mouth opened in surprise, Donnie was overcome with joy and was trying to hide it. His blushing face was adorable.
After the movie ended you and Donnie began your walk to the nearest coffeeshop. He was wearing his hoodie, so he could hide his face. You were in thought. Donnie had protected you. Sure, it was just from his brother, but it made you happy. Maybe continuing to date him was a bad idea.
As you opened the door you heard a bell chime, Donnie and you ordered some coffee. As you waited a few feet away from the counter you looked at him. He was looking at you, his hood darkening his features while his eyes were half lidden.
“You kind of look like a dog right now.” You said smiling, your hand reaching out to pat his head.
“I’m a turtle…” he answered, looking away from you blushing.
———–
You sat in Donnies Lab on a chair, he had put in there just for you. You were on your phone just scrolling, Donnie tinkering with one of his newest inventions. You were getting kind of bored and got up, deciding to get something to drink. When you were almost out the door you felt something tuck on the back of your shirt, you turned. It was Donnie, he had stood up and held on to your shirt with his hand. When he realized what he’d done he let go, looking away.
“Sorry.” He just mumbled. You looked at his face, it was slightly red. You turned and walked up to him.
“Donnie, if you want attention, you can just ask.” You told him.
“I wasn’t thinking that.” He answered, sitting back on his chair. You did the same, rolling your chair up to his.
“But I was wondering…do you have any experience in this kind of area?” He looked at you.
“What area? Like…like that?” He frowned.
“No…just dating-stuff.”
“No, not dating.” You contemplated for a few seconds. “But I had crushes before, like that one guy in Kindergarten…” you twirled your chair, coming to a stop with you facing away from him.
He dropped his head on your shoulder then.
“Donnie?” you asked slowly looking at him.
“I love you…I love you…I love you (y/n)!” You felt his face scrunch up.
“I thought that if I started dating you this weird feeling inside me would go away, but no such luck. I’d hoped that if I make you mine physically, I’d settle down, but I guess not.”
And you realized when he said that, that he was absolutely and utterly serious about you. You did something horrible by agreeing to dating him. This whole thing wasn’t a misunderstanding of his affection for you. He truly and desperately wants you. You were the one with the wrong idea, you were the idiot, you had no intention of accepting these strong feelings from him. You couldn’t do this to him anymore, it was horrible.
“Donatello!” You turned around, facing him. “I…I can’t date you anymore!” you said grabbing his arms. His face went from shock to sadness.
“Why…” he began, his voice quiet. “-would you say that? If you’re not satisfied with-“
“No!” you interrupted him. “It’s not that, I actually didn’t agree to dating you because I liked you-“
“(Y/n).”
“-or because I could grow to like you. I also didn’t do it to be nice-“
“(Y/n)!” He said a little louder, you stopped talking.
“You agreed to dating me because I’m your friend and it would’ve been annoying for you if I was constantly begging you to date me. You decided you would just do it, until I’m satisfied.” You blinked.
“How…”
“Yeah, duh, I already knew that, you know I’m a genius, right? Don’t underestimate my deduction skills. (Y/n), I just didn’t care. I wanted to make you mine through any means possible. So, I know all this so please-“ he looked at you with pleading eyes. “-don’t break up with me.”
“Donnie, I can’t give you anything.”
“I’m saying it’s fine, it’s enough for me to know that I’m the one closest to you.” Your stomach churned.
“Please, stay by my side.” He was wearing this unbearable expression of worry and sadness. It didn’t fit his character at all, his cockiness and narcissism gone. Because of you. You rushed to hug him.
“Okay Donnie, we won’t break up, I’ll try to fall for you, so please-“pulling back you took his face in your hands. “-don’t make that face.” He averted his eyes but kept a small smile.
“…kay.” He just said, looking at you again. He then leaned in closer, stopping a few inches from your face.
“Can I?” Your eyes widened, Donatello asked for permission. This is a whole new problem. You couldn’t really refuse him.
“Yes, but, slowly please, and no more than kissing.” You said closing your eyes. Donatello looked at you, face flushed, eyes closed, fully trusting him. If he could fall any harder for you, he would. Instead, he leaned in all the way, closing the gap. His lips were warm against yours. As he pulled away, both of you looked each other in the eyes, blushing.
——-
“I’ll try to fall for you” is what you said, but how does one even begin to try to fall in love with someone? You didn’t know, and the internet wasn’t giving you any answers either. You would just try harder, yeah, that sounded like a good plan. You were sat on a bench in the same park that Donatello so gracefully pulled you into the bushes that one night. It was getting dark, just like last time. You were waiting for him. He was supposed to meet you here, to have a coffee date. That’s one thing you started doing with him regularly, you met, talked for a bit and said goodbye with him asking for a kiss. Up until now everything was really easy.
“Hey.” Donatello was making his way to you and he plopped down on the bench.
“Hi, Donnie. I got your coffee right here.” You held the cup up, he grabbed it.
“Thanks.” You sat like that for a minute before you decided to lay your head on his shoulder. Donnie jumped slightly looking down at you. He didn’t move and the both of you lingered like that. But then you decided to grab his hand and hold it in yours. He then lightly shoved you off.
“What are you doing?” you asked him, but seeing his annoyed expression you shut up.
“Don’t force yourself, dummie, just because we are officially dating now, doesn’t mean we have to do couple things.” He tried to explain himself.
“No, but if you are serious about me, then I will be serious about dating you. I told you I would try my best!” You were irritated, it seemed that Donnie didn’t believe in you.
“That’s a nice gesture, but in actuality it is me who has to put in labor, you don’t have to do anything.”
You didn’t understand why he wanted to put work in all by himself, he almost never worked alone. His brothers almost always beside him. So why would he insist on it with you. He should trust that you’ll fall for him eventually.
“I don’t want to leave it all up to you.” You said. “Donnie, I want to fall in love with you, too.”
There was silence between you for a second before he spoke again.
“No way!”
“Why not?”
“Just sit there quietly and date me.”
“Donnie, don’t ignore my feelings!” When you said that he hesitated.
Donnie knew that it was impossible to force feelings, no matter how much work someone put into trying. And since he lacked any kind of confidence that you’d eventually fall for him too, of course he didn’t understand why you’d force yourself. You looked at him with sad eyes and started to mumble.
“Don’t you want to hold my hand?” He blushed at that and grumbled slightly, holding out his hand. You took it smiling and laid your head back on his shoulder. After a few minutes you spoke again.
“You were so adamant about the no couple-stuff. But is it possible you’re just embarrassed?” It was funny seeing him so flustered just to hold hands, since you two kissed before.
“You’ve got no self-preservation, (y/n). You do remember me jumping you? In this park to be exact.” You let out a huff. You grabbed his hand tighter to reassure him.
“Yeah, I remember, but you won’t do that again, because you promised.”
You two sat like that for some time, until both of you realized how late it was and decided to head home. After you stood up and said goodbye to each other his hand came up to your face, stopping before touching you and he made eye contact.
“May I kiss you?”
“You may.” You giggled. He smiled, his hand caressed your cheek and he leaning in for a quick kiss.
——-
You were standing in the kitchen, looking for some food when your phone started vibrating in your pocket. You leaned against the counter pulling it out. Donatellos name flashed on the screen. You put the phone up to your ear.
“Hey, Donnie, what’s up?” You weren’t expecting his call.
“Greetings, I was just wondering if you were doing anything tonight?” Donnies voice was excited, but you could tell he was trying to sound cool and collected.
“No. I didn’t plan anything. I was just about to make some food.” You answered, opening another cabinet, looking inside.
“Well, cease that action.” You closed the cabinet-door. “I wanted to ask you if you’d like to go for dinner at Run-of-the-Mill Pizza, just the two of us. If you want. Of course.” You smiled, that’s why he sounded so nervous.
“A date with Othello von Ryan. How could I say no to that.” You chuckled and heard a scoff on the other end of the line.
“Your insolence is high today I see.” You could hear the grin on his face.  “I’m gonna be there in 10.”
As you expected, exactly 10 minutes after you hung up there was a knock on the door. You made your way out and walked with him for a few minutes before stepping into a dimly lit alley. You then stepped through the entry portal that was hidden behind a graffiti mural. You sat down in one of the booths and ordered a big pizza to share. While waiting you made small conversation, landing on the time he fought the purple dragons.
“-and then these buffoons stole all of my Tech to use for their evil doings!” Donnie was gesturing wildly, obviously still mad at the small club for using his Technology that way.
“I kind of get it, you know?” you said looking thoughtful. “Your Tech is really amazing!” You looked at him. “I mean, you built so much cool stuff in your Lab, even creating artificial intelligence.” He stared at you for a second then he sprouted a cocky grin.
“Are you hitting on me, (y/n)?” You blushed but then rolled your eyes.
“Okay, you know what, forget I said anything.” Crossing your arms you leaned back against the cushion, smiling.
“No, no, go on, I’d love to hear more about this cool stuff I create.” His arrogance skyrocketing. You tried to jab back.
“Don’t get cocky with me von Ryan!” you said leaning in, poking his chest with your finger. He let you push him back against the backrest. He looked at you through half lidden eyes.
“Sure, we better not start something you can’t finish.” He shrugged smugly.
“Oh, you little-“ you were about to say, but the waiter came to your table with your Pizza.
The rest of the date was really calm. After you had finished the food, Donnie took out his purple wallet and paid for the both of you. When you looked like you wanted to interject, he held up a hand, saying that he had invited you, so he would pay. You got up and he walked you back to your apartment. Standing in front of your door, you opened it, looking back at him.
“I had fun today.” You spoke. He looked at you with adoration. You started to redden under his intense gaze.
“Me too.” He averted his eyes then looking at the floor. You knew what he wanted to ask.
“You can kiss me goodbye, Donnie, we always do.” You said softly. His eyes met yours again and he smiled, coming closer, his hand coming up to the back of your neck, pulling you up very slowly and giving you the gentlest of kisses. You closed your eyes. When both of you pulled away Donnies face was flushed. He said goodbye and hurried away. You stood in the doorway for a minute trying to get your bearing. Something was wrong with your stomach, it felt like the Pizza inside you was doing pirouettes.
——-
“Come on…come on…Piece of-“ your hand came down on top of your TV, which at the moment only showed static. You really just wanted to wind down with your favorite show, but you stupid TV had foiled your plans. You had a rough day, your patience thin, you really didn’t need this right now. You groaned falling back, laying on the floor. You contemplated to just go to bed, but you weren’t tired at all and you really didn’t wanna miss an episode. You put your hands over your eyes, you knew who to call, and you knew that he would drop everything to help you.
You felt bad calling him over just to fix your TV, but you decided if he wasn’t busy saving New York, he could spend his time saving you.
Donatello was sitting next to your TV, with cables everywhere. He was making his in-absolute-concentration-face. You were just sitting next to him, having no idea what Donnie was doing. After about 5 minutes of him just pulling and re-plugging cables he took a step back admiring his work, looking satisfied.
“Alright, I found the problem, if this should happen again- which it should not, but- look, you just need to take this blue cable and connect it to this one, I rearranged them so it’d be easier for you.” You looked at the cables, it really was easier to see what belonged where. You were impressed. When Donnie connected the blue cable, the TV sprang back to live, your show coming on screen.
“Woah! Thank you so much Donnie!” you shouted. “You’re the best!” You jumped on him hugging him tightly. After a moment you realized his body had gone stiff as a board and you pulled back fast. Donnie was looking at you with wide eyes. You felt bad.
“Oh shit, Donnie, I touched you without both of us agreeing, I’m sorry.” Donnies eyes seemed to focus then and he shook his head.
“No, please.” He pulled you back into him, hugging you tighter. “It’s alright!” There was urgency in his voice. “You don’t have to ask. I was just shocked you initiated it.” He tried explaining. You put your arms up and around his neck. You stayed like this for a while, hugging while sitting on the floor.
You were pulled out of your moment together when Donatellos Wrist-gauntlet started to beep. Donnie groaned pulling away slightly and answered the call.
“Don, where are you, we have a mission, Bro!” you heard Mickeys voice. Donnie let go of you then and began walking towards the window.
“I’ll be right with you, I had to take care of something.” He then pressed something on the screen and the call ended. He turned to you.
“Got to go, see you later. Have fun watching your show.” You walked up to him.
“Thank again, bye and be careful.” You said, while leaning up. He immediately leaned down too and you kissed each other goodbye.
——
Donnie didn’t know what to do, he was dating you, but he wanted more. So much more… But you, being the nice person that you were, were just indulging him. You didn’t love him, he knew that, he didn’t know how to proceed.
He needed to talk to someone about it.
“Raph?” he walked into Raphaels room. “I need to talk to you about something.”
“Sure, Donnie, what’s up?” Raph sat on his bed, one leg hanging off.
“Do you remember when I said that me dating (y/n) was a joke?” he asked.
“Yeah?” Raph furrowed his brows.
“It wasn’t a joke.” Donnie looked to the floor. Raphs lip twitched.
“No way. Really. I never would have guessed.” Donnie looked up at his brother.
“But Raph, I want (y/n) to look only at me, is that weird?” he said sitting down next to him.
“No? I don’t think so.” He answered.
“So…is it normal to want to tie them up, lock them away, somewhere where no one can find them? And if someone finds them beat the crap out of that person for getting too close? I was told that those feelings are just possessiveness, not real love.” Raph listened intently, but seeing his brothers fearful expression, he had to smile.
“So why not do it?” He asked. Donnie looked puzzled. “Why not lock them up, beat others up?”
“No…Raph, they’d just get really sad and probably cry, so I’d rather see them smiling, than doing any of that stuff.” As Donnie finished saying that, Raph laughed.
“Brother, you have nothing to worry about, you’re fine. And listen, if they are dating you, they have to at least like you right?” Donnie stood up, walking to the door.
“Yeah, thanks, Raph!”
He went to his Room, laying on his own bed, his thoughts wandered to you again, like every minute of everyday it seemed. He decided to text you.
‘What are you doing?’ you read as you sat down on your bed. It was Donnie, you grinned.
‘Just got out of the shower.’ You wrote back. You sat your phone down but it immediately pinged again.
‘What a turn on.” You chuckled, to think Donnie would ever utter such words.
‘You must really like me, huh?’ You answered keeping the phone in your hand, expecting an immediate reply, but it didn’t come. You waited some more, deciding to get ready for bed. After an hour of him not replying you went to sleep.
You’re woken up by your phone pinging on your night table.  You reached for it, reading the message.
‘I’m crazy about you.’
You felt your stomach flip and you smiled, realizing that, the smile vanished.
“What am I so happy for?” you didn’t know what to write back, so you just fell back asleep.
——
It was the perfect rainy and cold weather for a lazy day playing video games in the lair. It was your turn to play and you went against April. The others cheering. After April beat you embarrassingly hard you decided to just sit on the couch and watch, sitting between Leo and Donnie.
“Man, I really need to practice.” You grumbled.
“You’ll get there, April beats all of as at this game, except for Mickey.” Leo said, patting your shoulder reassuringly. You breathed out a laugh. When you looked to your other side you saw how Donnie was sitting, very straight, not one part of his body touching you. He had his eyebrows furrowed and when he saw you looking at him, he quickly averted his eyes.
“You good Bro?” Even Leo had noticed his brothers weirdness. Donnie began to sweat.
“Yeah! What? Yeah! I’m just sitting here, with my friends, my just-friends, my Bros…my Buddies.” He was avoiding any eye contact, looking at anything in the room but you two. He finished off his blabbering with pumping his fist against your shoulder. “Right, friend?” He forced a smile. Leo and you just stared at him. He was acting very weird and you had an idea why. You told him to hide your relationship in front of the others, but he was trying too hard. You needed to talk to him.
“Leo, would you excuse us, I need to talk to my friend, here.” Leo just nodded and followed you with his eyes as you walked out the room with Donnie. In the hallway you turned back to him.
“Donnie, what are you doing? I know I said hide our relationship in front of the other, but geez.” He looked at you with guilt in his eyes.
“I know, I’m sorry, I was just trying to disguise it as friendship, but I guess I overcompensated.” His arm came up to rub his neck. He was nervous. “I just want to be close to you all the time and it’s hard to hold back.”
“Listen, Don, we’ve been friends before all this ‘relationship’-stuff, so just act like normal, like my friend Donatello. You can touch me. I just meant no kissing and hugging and stuff.” You smiled trying to calm his nerves. His eyes began to lighten up.
“That’s good to know, I really didn’t know what to do.” He smiled sheepishly. You swung your arm around his and walked him back to the living room.
——
You walked into the lair not knowing what to expect, Donnie had texted you and had asked if you had time to come over. He had mentioned wanting to discuss something with you. You looked around the room not seeing anyone.
“Donnie?” you called out, hearing crashing and some curses, before Donnie came out of his Lab. You walked up to him and gave him a quick hug.
“So, what was it you wanted to discuss with me?” you asked following him to his room after he made the hand motion to come with him. He sat down on his bed and you did the same. He was fidgeting with his hands before looking at you.
“I want to ask for something, but if you don’t want to, it’s totally fine.” He said, his voice unsure. You just nodded so he continued.
“I know, I’ve been asking a lot of you, and I should be fine with what you give me, so feel free to decline, but I wanted to ask if you would like to…um, I-“ he began to stutter. You grabbed his hand to reassure him.
“It’s okay, Donnie, talk to me.” You smiled at him. He smiled back looking relieved.
“I’ve been craving your touch a lot lately and I thought maybe we could…cuddle?” you blinked, not saying anything for a few seconds. Donnie face turned nervous again.
“Ah, I knew it was too much to ask, forget I said anything.” He smiled at you giving your hand a squeeze. Your stomach whirled. Was it okay for you two to just snuggle? Couples do that all the time. And you weren’t really against it. Donnie, always against physical touch. It was funny how he totally threw that out the window with you. You felt kind of happy about that.
“Okay.” You just said. Donnie paused, confused, he never thought you’d actually agree to this.
“Are you sure?” No, you weren’t. If felt like you were overstepping some line and once you would cross it, there would be no turning back. But you ignored the feeling and took his other hand, so you were holding both.
“Yeah, let’s do it. Where do you want me?” you questioned him, and he looked at his bed.
“Uh, just lay down in front of me, I guess.” So, you did, you laid down on your side. He laid down behind you, his arms coming around your waist.
“Is this okay?” you felt his arm hoovering over your body, not yet touching you.
“Yes.” Your face started to heat up after he dropped his arm and snuggled close to you. His face at the back of your neck. You felt his breath on your skin. You suppressed a shudder. This felt nice, cozy even. You just laid there snuck against his plastron, breathing calmly. You closed your eyes. You could fall asleep like this. Warm and comfortable, this felt so natural to do with him, you were amazed.
You woke up, you were confused for a second, not knowing where you were, this wasn’t your room. But then you felt arms around you and you remembered. Donnie had asked you to cuddle. You had fallen asleep.
“You woke up.” Donnies soft voice came from behind you, he sounded like he was smiling. You rubbed your eyes.
“How long was I out?”
“About half an hour.”
“Oh.” You just said, in your tired state you snuggled closer to him. You heard his breath hitch. Then he loosened his grip on you.
“Thank you for this.” He spoke, very softly shaking your shoulder. “But my family will be here soon.”
You slowly opened your eyes again, sitting up. He was right, you did not want the others to see this. Why didn’t you want that again? You got up and stretched, then turning to face Donatello.
“I should go then.” You spoke quietly. He looked up at you.
“Yeah. Thanks again, for doing this.” You smiled at him bending down, giving him a quick peck.
“You’re welcome. Uh…see you later, right?” you asked timidly. Why were you so nervous all of a sudden.
“Yeah.” He answered with a woozy smile.
——-
 You sat on your sofa, you were waiting for April, she had asked you to help her with something. Apparently, she snatched an interview with some boss from a company that she deemed ‘super-duper-suspicious’, and you had to come with her. You didn’t mind, it was a good distraction from all the Donnie-drama.
Then you heard a knock. April is early? But you realized the knocking didn’t come from the door, but the window. You walked up seeing Donnie hovering in font of your window. You opened it up.
“Donnie? What are you doing here?” you asked.
“What do you mean? It’s time for our coffee-date, like always?” he looked confused. Shit. He was right, you totally forgot to call off your meeting. You felt horrible.
“Oh, Donnie, I’m sorry, I have to help April, I forgot to tell you, I can’t today.” His expression became sad then.
“What about later, then? He asked. You thought for a minute, you didn’t know how long the interview would go on, but you were sure you’d be exhausted when you’d be back home.
“…No, sorry, I don’t think I can make it.”
“Oh.” You could tell he was disappointed, but trying not to show it. Your stomach sank, he was making that expression again, the one you couldn’t stand to look at.
“Well, I’ll see you later then and be careful.” He started to fly off, when you grabbed his arm.
“Ah- I just, don’t make that face, Donnie. Is there a way I can make you feel better?”
You wanted to make him feel better, you did. He had just asked for some kissing. But it had turned into a full on make out session. The way he was kissing you against the living room wall made you weak in the knees. He was too good at this.
“Donnie.” You whispered. Pulling back a little. “April is going to be here any minute.”
“Just a little more.” He answered, his face serious. “Are you okay with that?”
“Yeah…okay.” And he immediately leaned back down, kissing you again. His hands had taken your wrist and pushed them down next to your head. His grip on you was strong, you realized. It kind of hurt. Then you felt his tongue against your lips, you gasped surprised. His tongue then slid inside your mouth. It felt amazing and you whined against his lips. After you heard the noise you’d made, you started to freak out but you didn’t want to push him away either. You agreed to kissing him, but now your heart beat so fast and loud you heard it in your ears. You began to tear up. What was going on with you. Donatello pulled away then.
“I love you.” He huffed, but after realizing that you were crying, he withdrew his hands from you. Then he saw his Handprints on your skin, he took a step back from you, ashamed.
“No.” he said, his voice desperate. “I forced you again.”
“What? No, Donnie, we both agreed to this!” But he shook his head.
“Damn it, I want to treat you gently, it’s like I lose myself every time I touch you.”  Donnie knew why you were crying. You grimace told the whole story of you wanting to return his feelings but couldn’t. He forced you into this relationship, and he was beginning to regret it. In that moment the back of your hand tapped his chest.
“I didn’t agree to kissing you, to make you feel bad, you know? Don’t get in your head.”
He looked like he wanted to say something but a knocking on the door had you both looking to the entrance. It was April. You ushered Donnie out of the Window.
“I’ll see you tomorrow.” You said, pecking his cheek, closing the window and opening the door.
—–
You laid in your bed with your face in the pillow. You had to organize your emotions and feelings. That was the task you wanted to achieve today.
You knew you liked Donnie, in the sense that his feelings were important enough to you to not ignore them. You also wanted to protect him. But you weren’t sure if that counts as romantic feelings. The fluttering in your stomach and your raised heartbeat could just be your nervousness.
This whole thing was taking a toll on you, even April commented on the dark rings under your eyes. You were worrying about returning Donnies feelings constantly, so much so that some nights you couldn’t sleep. Was it even possible to fall in love trough hard work, you’ve never heard of it.
“Shiiiiiiit.” You felt tears on your cheeks.
Maybe you could stop trying and let it come naturally, Donnie was smart, charismatic and for you he tried to be really considerate. But you wanted your love to come as fast as possible, to make him feel better, you didn’t want to cause him any more pain. But for that to work you’d have to fall for him, and you wanted to, but you’ve never been in love before and you didn’t know what to feel, this wasn’t like that kid in your kindergarten at all.
Wait.
You wanted to get you mind in order. You tried again.
If you’d confess your feelings for Donnie and he would recognize that your feelings weren’t real, he would make that awful face again, which scared you.
You did not want to hurt him, because he was important to you. You liked him. Yes, you did. If it’s romantic you weren’t sure, but you wanted to let him know these feelings that you had.
You wiped the tears from your eyes and began running, grabbing your jacket you made your way to the lair.
You excitedly climbing down the stairs. You wanted to tell Donatello about your feelings as fast as possible. You were almost all the way down, when your excitement caused you to lose footing and fall down. You hit the ground, but feeling no pain you looked down, seeing you fell onto Donnie himself. You got up, now sitting on top of him.
“Donnie!” you shouted. “Just the guy I wanted to see.” He groaned, holding his head.
“You need to be more careful when you climb the ladder, ow.” But you didn’t care about that at this moment.
“I have to tell you something!” you said eagerly. He just laid there, peering up at you.
“I want to tell you that I li-“ You were interrupted by Donnie pushing you off of him, when you got up again to ask him why he did that you saw his brothers coming in.
“They are gonna see.” Donnie whispered to you. You clenched your teeth. You were the one who told him that, you knew. But the rules were unimportant right now. His brothers came up to you.
“Hey guys.” Leo said. “What’re you doing on the floor?” You stopped to think, maybe confessing your feelings to Donnie in front of his brothers wasn’t such a good idea. You searched for an exit.
“We wanted to buy some coffee. You guys want anything?” you asked.
“Sure.” Raph spoke up. “I’ll get a-“ But you didn’t listen to the 3 boys telling you their order, you just looked at Donnie, he was eying you suspiciously.
“Yeah, yeah, okay, got it, we’ll be going then, won’t be long, buh-bye now!” you got up, pulling Donnie with you.
You two were walking the street toward the coffee-shop. Donnie looked at you from the side. He saw your dark circles under and the redness around your eyes. You had been crying again and now you wanted to tell him something. He had a bad feeling about this.
You came to a stop in front of the big store window and peeked inside. There were a lot of people. So many in fact, that you both decided you would go in alone to get the coffee, so people wouldn’t see Donatello. Which was okay for you, you could wait a few minutes before confessing to him.
As you waited in line you glanced outside. Donnie was leaning against a lamppost scrolling on his phone. You smiled. All of a sudden you felt a hand brush your butt. You froze, did you imagine that? Then you felt it again, this time the hand was slightly groping your ass. Instead of fighting back like you had thought your body would do in this situation, he betrayed you, completely freezing up. You thought of Donnie, but you couldn’t let him be seen. Shit. You were scared, terrified. This didn’t feel right, you tried to will your body to move. Your eyes started to burn and you blinked, feeling tears escape. When you heard the guy behind you pant, you lost it, you fought your stupor and rushed out of the building. You heard Donnie calling your name, but your mind was in fight or flight, and since you didn’t fight the guy, you ran.
It didn’t take long for Donnie to catch up to you. You still made it all the way to the park, where you and Donnie always drank your coffee. He pulled you back.
“(Y/n), Hey! What’s going on?” Your eyes darted in his direction unseeing. You were in a state of pure panic. Donatello understanding that, sprang into action. Pulling you down to sit on a bench he spoke to you in a calm voice.
“(y/n), you are currently having a panic attack.” He started. Rubbing circles on your back.  “I want you to know that whatever scared you is no longer here, you are safe. I understand that you are frightened, but I need you to try and breathe.” He helped you by taking some inhales and exhales together with you. After a few minutes you had calmed down enough for him to get an explanation out of you.
“-and then I heard him pant behind me and I just ran away.” Donnie couldn’t believe what he had heard. He would search for the security camera footage, he would find that guy, he would hunt him down, and he would kill him for touching you. Seeing his plotting-face you gently touched his arm.
“Don’t do anything stupid, Donnie, I can’t see you when you’re in jail.” You laughed. But Donatello was confused.
“Why didn’t you call out to me. I could’ve helped you, you know? I would’ve stomped that guy into the ground for touching you.” You blinked at him.
“I couldn’t.”
“What do you mean by that?”
“Donnie, people would have seen you!” Donnie stared at you perplexed.
“Who cares about that while their being harassed?” You began to cry again.
“I DO! When he touched me, I thought about you, but I couldn’t risk you being exposed. And what if you hit him, the police would’ve been called, you’d be found out, you’d go to jail and it’d be all my fault.” You wailed. “When I realized that I stopped myself from calling out to you. You being uncovered, that’s even scarier.”
Donnie had listened to you intently. His hands were balled to fists.
“You know, ever since we started dating, all you have done is cry.” You looked down. He continued.
“I don’t understand it, it’s my first time after all. Loving someone this much. Wanting them all to myself. Wanting to cherish them. Wanting them to smile more. Wanting to change who I am for them.” He took a breath. “Earlier, if it were April or Sunita with you, you would have asked them to help, right?” He began to grin humorlessly. “I can’t even protect you, all I do is make you cry and force you into things and then wind up hurting you myself. I’m the worst.”
He got up from the bench then. You kept looking down.
“I’ll break up with you.” Your eyes widened. “For making you go out with me and for falling in love with you, I’m sorry.” Your brain didn’t compete what he had said. As he took his first step away from you, you heard voices coming closer. Leo, Mickey and Raph were making their way towards you.
“What are you doing here?” Donnie said, he really didn’t feel like talking with them at the moment.
“You told us it won’t be long, that was an hour ago!” Mickey said, worry in his tone. Right, you wanted to bring them all coffee, you totally forgot.
“There was an incident at the coffee-shop.” Donatello said. He looked down at you again, but you didn’t react to anything. He sighed.
“Let’s go home. (y/n) wants to be alone right now.” He ushered his brothers away, wanting you to have some time to yourself.
It all came crashing down on you. Donatello just dumped you, deciding to do that all on his own again. You wanted to go after him. But you hesitated. Maybe it was the best for both of you.
You bend over and laid your arms and head on your knees. Your eyes fell on a purple leather wallet on the floor. Wasn’t that Donatellos? You had seen it when he bought the Pizza. You picked it up and opened it. A piece of paper fell out. You reached for it folding it up. You read what was written on the little note, you breath hitched.
·       don’t get mad when they talk to others.
·       Hide that we’re dating
·       Don’t touch them in front of the others
·       Don’t touch them until we both agree
He wrote down the promises he made with you. The piece of paper looked worn and crumbled. It was proof that Donatello had read and reread and reread them over and over. You were sure that in moments where he didn’t know what to do, he vowed to at least hold these promises.
Your stomach fluttered and your heart beat faster. These two things happening a lot lately. You thought it was just nervousness, but you finally got it. It wasn’t nervousness at all.
Donatello, he’s an idiot, he’s narcissistic, he stubborn, he’s cocky, he’s arrogant, he’s a pain in the ass…But you didn’t want to lose him. Thoughts rushed inside your head. You were scared that whatever you were feeling wasn’t romantic, and when you thought about it, it wasn’t typical romance at all. The way you felt so comfortable with him and the way he would touch you making you weak. It wasn’t just a crush. What you were feeling for Donatello was love!
You got up wanting to run after him.
“Dona-“ you stumbled over your feet, falling down. You panicked.
“NOOO!” you screamed. Donnie turned around.
“I don’t care about protection and I don’t care about crying because of you, I don’t care, you make me feel safe, and you make me smile way more than you make me cry. Those are all part that I love about you!” You cried louder. He started racing in your direction.
“Don’t go!” he ran faster.
“Stay!” almost there.
“Stay by my side!” he finally reached you and he fell to his knees hugging you.
“I won’t leave, I’ll stay with you.” He panted. You hugged him tighter. Suddenly he stirred.
“Wait, you love me? Why didn’t you say anything?” He questioned you.
“I know, I just realized today! That’s what I wanted to talk to you about.” You pulled back a little. Seeing his troubled expression, you smiled softly. “I’m sorry I made you wait, Donnie.” He blushed hugging you again.
“Aww, isn’t this just cute.” You heard Raph say from further away. Donnie pulled back then, holding you by your shoulder an armlength away, rubbing his eyes.
“Shit, sorry.” He started to say but you interrupted him with crashing your lips on his. After you pulled back you looked at his flushed face.
“Forget about the stuff you got written down. Instead- never ever let me go again!” Donnie began to smile, then he held out his hand.
“Promise.” He said as you shook his hand.
Donnie was starting to freak out. Leo had begun acting really strange since they bought the egg back to the lair. Since neither April nor Splinter were available, he sent you a quick text, asking you to come over to help. But when he saw how Leo bit Raph and how Raph acted after that, he regretted requesting your presence. This was more dangerous than he had anticipated and he had sent you right into the dragons den. He had called you numerous times but you hadn’t picked up. Donnie presumed you rushed over and forgot your phone at home.
Donnie and Mikey, being the only ones not infected yet, hid themselves in the kitchen. They planned to get a sample of the virus in the egg to create an antidote for their brothers. As they were about to begin their mission, a loud bang filled the room, making them freeze. Both Leo and Raph had freed themselves from the locked down garage and entered the kitchen. Since neither of them were currently guarding the egg, it was the perfect moment to strike.
Mikey led the way to where the egg sat on one of the beanbags. Before they could insert the needle for the sample however, both Raph and Leo attacked them. Their eyes totally black. While Mikey fought back against Raph, Donnie was trying to hold Leo at bay. Then he heard it.
“Hello?” It was your voice, Donatello panicked. And his fears were correct, because as soon as the two infected brothers heard your call, they turned their heads, growling. Then you walked around the corner. You were out of breath, you must have been running all the way here, Donnie thought. Then he saw you smiling.
“Woah, I’m glad you guys are alright, so, where’s this egg Donnie told me about?” Right when you said that, Leo and Raph sprang into action, ready to attack anything and anyone, who tried to hurt the egg. You gasped and darted out of the way. Donnie and Mikey immediately coming to your aid, fighting with their brothers. You didn’t know how to react. Never in all the time you’d been friends with the boys, had any of them ever tried to hurt you. Something must be really wrong.
Mikey had successfully flung Raph across the room, where he didn’t move anymore. He then quickly came to help Donnie, who was being charged by his twin brother. Tying him up with the chain of his mystic Kusari-fundo. When you came up to them you looked down at Leo, who sat on the floor, you hugged yourself. Leo looked nothing like himself. The scowl on his face and the way he fought back against his brothers scared you.
“Guys, what’s going on?” You asked timidly. But Donnie just touched your shoulder, looking behind you, his brows furrowed.
“Where’s Raph?” You turned around, Raph wasn’t where Mikey had flung him. There was just a huge dent in the wall, where he’d hit it. Mikey then cursed and walked a few steps to look at the beanbag.
“He took the egg, Donnie what are we gonna do?” Mikey sounded scared too. Hearing his nervous voice made you even more scared. Donnie thought for a moment.
“We’re gonna take Leo to my Lab, and enclose ourselves in it, maybe I can fix up an antidote from his blood.”
The three of you heaved Leo into the Lab. After the two finally filled you in on what had happened, Donnie took a syringe from one of his cabinets.
“Well, let’s hope our plan works.” He said and stuck the needle in his brothers arm, Leo snarled at him. You took a step back, still unnerved by the way his eyes were blacked out. Then you saw it.
“Donnie, you’ve been bitten.” You said and Mikey gasped.
“They are right, there’s a bitemark on your shoulder, Donnie, that must’ve happened during the fight.”
“That means-“ Donnie started to say. “-I’m infected! I have to hurry and get the antidote ready.” He got up and ran towards his work table. He started mixing chemicals together, the liquid turning all kinds of different colors. After about a minute of Mikey and you just watching Donnie work, he suddenly stumbled back holding his head.
“I can’t go on. I’m starting to turn.” He groaned. You looked at Mikey, an idea forming in your head.
“Donnie, can you explain to us how to make the antidote, so we can finish what you started.” Donnie blinked open one eye and looked at you. He would have to, since he was sure to not be of any help in a few minutes. He had to tell you and Mikey what to do and quickly get out to not hurt any of you.
He explained the last steps carefully, hoping that the two of you would accomplish the task. He then sank to the floor. You immediately went to his side.
“Mikey, begin the process, I’m gonna get Leo and Donnie out of here, so we’re safe in the Lab.” You said, getting up. You then took the chain, with which Leo was still bound in your hand and lead Leo out of the Laboratory, like a dog on a leash. Leo then rushed back to the egg, still bound. You watched after him, glad he didn’t attack you again. Coming back inside you took Donnies arm and swung it around your shoulder, helping him up.
“Okay, Donnie, I’m gonna have to kick you out of your own Lab.” You spoke and Donnie chuckled quietly.
“That’s okay, as long as I don’t hurt you.” His head dropped on your shoulder. You smiled, even infected with a virus, he was still being considerate.
You were just out of the door when Donnies collapsed and pulled you down with him.
“Ah, shit.” You said, with his weight on you, you couldn’t get back inside. Hoping he wasn’t too far gone yet, you spoke to him.
“Donnie, could you maybe get up?” But he didn’t answer. You laid on your stomach, trying to crawl out from under his legs. You called out for Mikey but then you felt Donnie shift now laying completely on top of you, with you back to his plastron, you felt him breathing heavily against your neck.
“Why not stay with me, (y/n)?” he said and you felt his lips on your neck, his teeth slightly grazing your skin. Your eyes widened, there was no way out, you called for Mikey again.
“Mikey, close the door! Finish the antidote!” Mikey came rushing towards you, but you held up a hand to stop him.
“Listen, I’ll be fine, just finish it and get your brothers back to normal.” You said but then you felt Donnie cease his nibbling on your neck. He pulled up his head and looked at his brother. He then snarled and lunged for Mikey, which in turn squeaked and pressed the button to close the Lab door.
Donnie banged his fists against the metal, you got up from the floor. You didn’t know what to do. You weren’t sure he was still in there, or not. You decided to call his name softly. His body suddenly stopped moving at all and you got scared again, pressing your body back against the wall of the hallway. What if he attacked you, just like Raph and Leo had. But Donnie just turned around facing you, his expression unreadable.
He then started walking toward you, you started to sweat.
“Donnie? Come on, you’re scaring me, are you still in there?” you asked, your voice shaking. But he just kept walking. You backed away from him slowly, holding your hand out in front of you.
“Donnie, I swear, if you attack, I’ll knock you out.” You said with false confidence, knowing you couldn’t stop any of his advances. He then grabbed your wrists with his hands and pulled you towards him. You huffed out a breath as you hit his plastron. He was hugging you, his face in your neck again.
“You smell so good.” He said and you were relieved, so he was still in there. You hugged him back.
“You should join me, (y/n).” he mumbled against you and you wanted to answer but felt his teeth on your neck again. He bit down. It hurt and you let out a short shriek. He unlatched his teeth from you and began to lick the wound slowly, as if to apologize. But your mind began racing before you could lecture him about it.
Your body started to feel hot, you heartrate skyrocketing and you felt sweat begin to form on your forehead. What was going on? Donnie had explained to you, that it had been a mutant wasp that had stung Leo. You just assumed the infection would work the same for you as it did for them, but it seemed you thought wrong.
It was as if you could feel anything a hundred times more intense as before. The air around you seemed too thick to breathe, your clothes felt too heavy and you face felt like it was on fire. But worst of all, the places where Donatello was touching you seemed to tingle. His tongue on your neck sent shivers down your spine. You whimpered and Donnie raised his head to face you. He was so close.
“I’m sorry, but now you can stay with me.” He said and smiled softly. You couldn’t talk, your mouth felt dry so you just grabbed his neck desperately, hoping he would understand that you needed help. But as soon as your hand made contact with his skin you pulled back. His skin felt like lava and you groaned.
“Hey.” Donnie said, voice soft. “Let me take you to the others.” His hands came down and grabbed your hip, pressing you into the wall. You suppressed a moan. “Don’t worry, they won’t try to hurt you again.” His hands glid up the side of your torso and your eyes rolled back into your head. “I’ll make sure of it.” Then you felt his lips on yours. You couldn’t take it anymore, everything felt amazing and awful at the same time. His lips were moving against yours, you hummed into the kiss, your body burning up.
Hearing the sound you made, Donnie pressed his tongue against your lips. And even in your dazed state, you knew you wanted this. So, you opened your mouth, kissing him back. The kiss was frantic and at the same time so passionate, that your knees began to weaken.
You body felt like it had a mind on its own, you felt every bone in your body screaming at you to make more contact while at the same time feeling like you needed to pull back. His right hand pulled you closer to him by your waist while his left hand grabbed your neck.
Your knees finally gave out and you slumped to the floor, kneeling in front of him, his hand still holding you by the back of the neck. You were both breathing heavily. He then kneeled down too, holding eye contact with you. His eyes were blacked out. You hadn’t noticed at the beginning, but now you realized how dangerous he looked.
“Let’s go back.” He just said, picking you up from the floor with ease, carrying you towards the living room area. When you walked in, Raph and Leo turned to face you, scowling.
“Don’t worry, they’re with us.” Donnie said. Sitting down with you on his lap. The brothers gave you a look, but didn’t say anything more. It seemed like the egg was in the final stages of hatching. You hoped that Mikey would be finished creating the antidote soon, not because you were scared of being eaten, but because you yourself were hungry. Desire burning inside you. Your body temperature had risen to an unhealthy level. It felt like you been deprived of physical touch for ages. And every time Donnie would stroke your sides, while you sat in his lap, it felt like he was burning you.
When Donnie began to kiss the bite mark lightly, you whined. His hand came in front of your mouth.
“Just a few minutes more, then it will be over.” He whispered in your ear. He took your whining for anticipation, since he himself was excited for the wasp to finally hatch. But that was the last of your problems. Your stomach was aching. You let your head fall onto Donatellos shoulder while he continued kissing your wound.
You were gonna die. You would be eaten by a mutant wasp. You didn’t even tell Donnie how you felt about him yet.
The egg began to crack in that moment and three wasps exited the shell. This was the end. You closed your eyes.
But instead of feeling wasps eating away at you, you felt a prick in your neck. You eyes shot open. Mickey was standing a few feet away, looking proud.
“Told y’all I would safe you!” He yelled and you blinked. He was right, your body felt normal again. But before you could thank him the boys sprang up, with their weapons ready. Defeating one giant wasp after the other. When they finally all went down you sighed relieved.
Donnie came up to you then, rubbing his neck sheepishly. His brothers were still cheering and celebrating their victory.
“Hey.” He said, sitting down next to you.
“Hi.” You answered, not looking at him.
“Listen, (y/n)…I’m really sorry about what happened. I shouldn’t have texted you to get here, but I didn’t know it would turn into this.” He tried to explain. “And I know what I’m about to say is no excuse for what I forced upon you but…” he hesitated, you looked at him then. “-the infection causes everyone to smell really dangerous to the infected, so the host destroys any invader. And…-“ he paused again, trying to find the right words. “-my…my crush on you caused you to not smell dangerous, but rather really delicious.” His hand came up in front of his face. “So even though I didn’t really have control over myself, I should’ve seen this coming. I should’ve sent you away.” He ended his speech.
You tried to process what he had said and you stilled. ‘My crush on you’ Donnie had said.
Wait.
“You have a crush on me?” you asked. Donnie looked at you, he couldn’t believe what he just heard.
“That’s what you’re concerned with? I forced myself on you.” You furrowed your brows.
“Donnie, I reacted differently than you to the infection, my body felt super weird, it was like I was in heat or something.” You explained. He still looked puzzled, so you continued. “You didn’t do anything I didn’t want you to do, I have a crush on you, too.” You smiled at him when you saw how red his face became. “It just didn’t feel quite right, since I wanted to do these things with you….sober.” you said. Donatello looked thoughtful.
“I guess since you’re fully human, the mutant venom reacted differently with your- wait… you mean to tell me we can do those things again?” He grabbed your hand excitedly and you blushed.
“Yeah, let’s do that again, when we are not infected with anything.” Both of you chuckled and Donnie took a hold of your face.
“I’m looking forward to it.” He then leaned in and you kissed each other, fully conscious.
APPY SLICES
Bayverse turtles x fem reader
Turtle fluff, kinda petty jealousy, nothing sexual
Second Person, no Y/N.
Inspired by a pinterest post I saw about having an office turtle and the punch line was "does the big man want his appy slices?" and it just snowballed from there
Your first vacation in a year, and you were stuck with a house guest for part of it.
Well, sort of a house guest.
You stared at the blue, plastic kiddie pool taking up half of the living room, shoved between your TV and the L shaped desk you used as a work space. A sandy colored shell was moving slowly around as Romeo explored his temporary digs, the large tortoise taking everything in with long, slow blinks.
“Boy, does your mother owe me one,” You informed him lowly, shaking out tired arms that still ached from carrying the large cat carrier up the stairwell. “Though, I guess she should be worried you won’t wanna go home on Monday. After all,” you leaned down, watched as Romeo turned those large, multicolored eyes in your direction, “I seem to have a growing collection of turtles.”
He let out a loud huff, the air whistling through his nostrils, and you snorted. “Sorry, tortoise, though I’m pretty sure the rest are turtles.”
He turned back to ignoring you, making slow movement towards the heat lamp you had attached to the back of a stool and swung over a part of his pad.
You hummed, watching him, then glanced over at your phone when it dinged from the couch.
Orange Crush: Hey babycakes, we still good to come get you after patrol? Donnie got ahold of that movie you wanted to see.
Uh oh. You bit at your nail absently, thinking, then typed back:
You guys are welcome to stop by, but I might have put a snag in movie night. I’ve got a house guest I have no idea what to do with.
You hit send, waited a beat, then hit accept before it even rang, expecting Leo’s name.
“Everything good?”
You decided not to comment on the speed dial. “Yea, everything’s fine. I’ve just… got a house guest.”
A beat of silence, “are you in danger?”
You frowned, stared across the room at Romeo, then had a light bulb moment as you replayed what was said. “Oh, god, Leo, no I’m fine. This isn’t a ‘help, there’s someone in my apartment’ type of thing.”
“Well that’s good,” he breathed, and you could hear his dry humor creeping in, “Though you almost gave Raph a heart attack just now.”
“Spiders almost give Raph a heart attack,” you deadpanned back. “But seriously, I’m just babysitting a pet for a friend. Um… actually.” You squinted at the tortoise sunning himself. “Don’t- don’t be weird when you guys get here.”
A longer beat of silence. “O-kay.” The word was drawn out. “We’ll be over in ten.” He hung up before you could squawk about cutting their patrol short, and you was left holding the phone comically to your ear.
Romeo chose that moment to let out a questioning chirp, his beak opening and clicking shut, and you turned her attention back to him. “Hm? You hungry, big boy? Let me go get your food.”
You got Romeo his salad, watching with slight amusement as he once again slowly moved toward the plate of offerings next to his sunken water bowl, high pitched chirps coming from him as he started to eat.
A light tap at your window pulled your attention, and you crawled over the couch to unlock the window, letting Leo do the heavy lifting to actually get it open.
“Heeeyyy,” You said, smiling brightly, trying to block the view behind you while leaning against the frame.
Leo rolled his eyes, “hey yourself. You gonna let us in?”
You pursed your lips, looking over the four of them crammed onto the fire escape, Donnie half hanging off the railing as he avoided Raph’s shell. You held up a finger threateningly. “Don’t be weird.”
You heard Raph scoff as you moved to press against the couch cushions, letting them step in over the furniture. “‘Don’t be weird’ she says to the mutant turtles.”
“Uh.” Leo pulled up short, one foot still on the couch, letting Mikey bounce off his shell as he noticed the kiddie pool.
Romeo looked up from the salad, took in the towering turtles staring back, and let out a low grumble that somehow managed to thrum through the room.
“Wow. That’s impressive.” You popped up on the couch, leaned over the arm, watched as the four turtles spread out a little, all still watching the kiddie pool.
“Sheesh, that’s nothing, babycakes,” Mikey said over his shoulder as he backed to the side to perch on the couch next to you, baby blues fastened on the tortoise like he’d disappear if he blinked. “That little rumble ain’t got nothing on Raph in the morning.”
“Huh. Really?” You glanced at the red turtle, but he shrugged, moving towards the kitchen counter and the cans of soda you’d set out while waiting for them.
“It ain't nothin special, sweetheart. How long you watchin mr. grumpy pants?”
Leo still hadn’t moved from his spot half on the couch, and with a huff Donnie pushed past him, the only one to take a step closer to the kiddie pool and crouch down to get a closer look.
“I have Romeo until Monday morning.” You tried not to sound too intrigued with what was happening, or not happening, but you probably failed judging by the quick look Raph threw your way, slight smirk curling his mouth as he watched you peer between Romeo and Donnie.
The tortoise had one eye on Donnie and the other on Leo, his head swiveled to the side to keep them both in sight as the ominous grumble sounded once more.
“Oh, goodness.” Donnie chuckled, perched as close to the plastic lip as he could get without touching the tortoise’s turf.
Raph whistled, long and low, as the noise lowered deeper until it was a threatening burr. Romeo snapped his beak at the sudden noise from Raph.
“Ok. What’s happening?” You asked, looking from Mikey to Raph for answers.
Mikey winced, fingers drumming out a fast staccato on his bent knees, so you turned your question to Raph, who simply shrugged.
“Donnie,” you whined, and heard him hum in answer. “What’s with the weirdness?”
“Oh, well, I suppose we’re making him a little uncomfortable.” He supplied, twisting around to address you from over Leo’s hip. Romeo let out an angry hiss, and Donnie swayed back out of sight. “Oops.”
“Now you done it,” Raph joked. “Touched the big man’s pool.”
“So I should have coached him instead of you guys?” You smirked, the notion that the bigger turtles were all being trash talked by Romeo amusing.
“Eh, probably wouldn’t have changed much,” Donnie chirped back at you, pulling another threatening beak snap from Romeo.
Raph chuckled. “Careful, Don. He might think you’re after his girl.”
“Oh so now I’m part of the problem?” You put as much sarcasm into the query as you could, moving to sit up on the couch, swaying into Leo’s space.
“Sure.” Leo answered, finally moving his foot off the couch as you brushed against him. “Bunch of big ugly rivals come into his place, touch his home, chirp at his girl. I’d be pissed too.”
“Would you?” You tried not to sound too amused, hand coming up to press against your mouth at the uptick in Leo’s cheek even as his gaze was kept on the tortoise. “So is he gonna get even more cranky if I leave with his ‘rivals’?”
“I’m sure he’ll live,” Raph pushed away from the counter, snapped his fingers under Donnie’s glasses. “Genius, quit harassing the poor dude. He’s stuck in a pool, we get to go watch a movie with his girl. Don’t rub it in.”
“Pretty sure I’ve known you guys longer than him,” You kicked out at Raph playfully as he passed close, connecting with his thigh and making him sway to avoid the pressure. “Think that makes him the interloper.”
“Ah, ok, I see how it is, you’re our girl. You want us to avenge your honor, teach this creep a lesson?” He jerked his head toward Romeo, grabbing your foot with ease as you went to kick at him again. You let out a quick giggle, jerked your foot away from his grip, leaning towards Mikey for protection as Raph made a grab for your retreating foot again.
“Hey, it’s all good babycakes, I’ll hide you from your loverboy’s rival.” Mikey lifted his arm, flashing the charm as he let you wedge yourself between his shell and the couch, feet tucked in the cushions where the larger brother couldn’t reach.
“We better get going before we rile your house guest up even more,” Leo commented, ignoring the playful banter as he stepped sideways out of Raph’s way. “You have everything you need?”
You hummed, twitching further behind Mikey as you felt the youngest brother’s fingers reach back and ghost your far side. “My bag’s in my room. Obviously, I’m gonna have to come check on Romeo tomorrow, but I think he’ll be ok for the night.”
“Especially if he doesn’t have to deal with us,” Donnie added, straightening and stepping around the pool to head down the short hallway leading to your room.
“Oh, shoot, hold on. Can’t forget.” You popped out from behind Mikey, wildly grabbing onto Leo’s arm to steady yourself as you overcorrected on the couch cushion. His forearm tensed under your hand, giving you something steady to push off of as you headed for the counter.
As you turned around with an apple and a knife, Mikey gasped. “He gets appy slices?”
“Yup, every Friday.” You responded, not looking up as you carefully started cubing the fruit.
“He’s get a treat after being an ass?” Raph sounded incredulous, and you blinked, looking up finally to find all three staring at the apple in your hand.
You took in the various looks of envy and mild offense, and reached behind you for the bag with the rest of the apples. “Do… do you guys want some?”
Donnie rounded the corner at that moment, stopped so hard his shoe squeaked on the floor. “He gets appy slices?”
“O-kay.” You pulled the word out long and slow, conscious as they tracked you and the dish of apple cubes across the room to the kiddie pool. It had to be your imagination, but Romeo almost looked smug as he hurried over for the treat you set down.
Behind you, Raph made a noise of disgust deep in his throat, and you fought to keep the smile from your face as Mikey echoed the sentiment.
“I promise,” You rose and turned to face them, “I will bring the whole bag and make you guys as many appy slices as you want tonight.”
Raph took the few steps to the kitchen, grabbed the bag of apples, and crossed back over to the couch and window. His brow raised as though daring you to laugh as Mikey opened the glass and hopped out onto the fire escape.
You fought it successfully until Leo purposely bumped into you, a gentle reminder to get moving, and you followed Donnie out into the chilly air, careful as you pulled yourself over the edge of the window.
Donnie offered you a hand, grip cool and firm as he tugged you up the flight of stairs and passed you off to Raph, whose arms you curled into as he picked you up effortlessly.
“Where’s Fearless?” He asked, stepping up to glance back over the edge, and you gripped tighter as the buildings swelled down to meet the street.
Leo stuck his head out of your window as though summoned, taking a moment to close the latch before he scaled up to where the others were waiting. At Raph’s questioning look, he huffed, the lights catching briefly on his teeth.
“Just reminding Romeo down there that he’s only a house guest.”
You blinked, your face going loose with shock, “Leonardo, did you growl at that poor tortoise?”
The only answer you got was a smug smirk, and Mikey’s bright belt of laughter.
Much later, in the lair, you sat slumped in the middle of the couch, fingers sticky as you peeled yet another apple. You didn’t even bother to lean forward as you offered a slice over the edge. You weren’t sure how they knew it was there, the only light coming from the soft jewel tones of the older movie on the big screen, but the slice was always accepted, much larger fingers grazing your palm the only indication.
You smiled, and cut off another slice.
Donnie X Fem! Reader The Little Merturtle 4
Summary: Prince Donatello was the third of four brothers, the prince of an underwater yokai city, but he has always been searching for something else far more interesting than the mystic arts he is used to, he wants to know everything about the human world, their traditions, their creations... But when he finds himself entranced by a human princess it might just be the last push he needs to make his dream of exploring the land a reality.
“Do you hear that?” You wondered looking around curiously and Donnie just shrugged at you nervously, thank Poseidon he couldn’t speak, he was a terrible liar.
The change of ambiance seemed to be exactly what he had needed because when your gazes met again this time there was some charged energy in the air, very different from before.
Warnings: Angst with a happy ending, tooth-rotting fluff
A month in writing
Donnie was on one of the castle’s towers, surrounded by huge windows with a beautiful view of the clouds and blue sky from where he sat inside a huge and luxurious bathtub; Sunita, your lady in waiting, whom you had introduced to him once reaching the castle, had taken him up there and sprinkled some sort of potion inside to make the bubbles appear.
“Washed up from a shipwreck,” Sunita said while making a signal to him, asking soundlessly if she could pour water on his head, Donnie was grateful for the warning and nodded, the water flowed and while it felt nice it also bothered him that his hair seemed to get in the way a lot, he tried to push it out of his face while Sunita continued talking.
“How horrible! But don’t worry, we’ll have you feeling better in no time, It might take a while for your long thick hair to dry but it will feel so much better!” She said; Donnie was mostly lost in his mind, excited to find out how the tub had been filled in the first place.
Leo was still somewhere on the sail that had covered Donnie, bored, he tried to get out when Sunita suddenly took hold of it, Leo was still tangled up there.
“I’ll send this to get washed! But we’ll get you some new clothes!”
As soon as Sunita said that Leo was suddenly pushed into some water, he scrambled up trying to get away from the cloth, but he was pulled roughly onto a metallic surface by the hands of a woman, he felt his carapace hitting pieces of metal repeatedly as he went up and down that thing over and over again, oh he felt like throwing up.
“Well, you must have at least heard about this boy” One of the ladies cleaning the clothes said.
“No!” Another answered, Leo was suddenly inside the water again, it tasted weird like someone had removed the salt and added something…sickly sweet?
“Gertrude says—”
The first woman scoffed interrupting “When has Gertrude ever gotten anything right?” Finally, Leo was pulled out of the water, he was hanging from the cloth and burped out…bubbles?!
He was thrown onto something firm “I mean really, he shows up in rags and doesn’t speak, not my idea of a prince.”
That tough thing started moving and Leo hid inside his carapace fast as he felt he was getting squished, he came out the other side and fell onto the rags, Leo moved wildly from one side to the other before the rags got hung from somewhere with him still in there.
The ignorant woman was still talking “If Y/N is looking for a boy I know a couple of highly available ones” While she said that, the rope holding Leo up started moving and then he fell on the floor somewhere else.
His legs felt wobbly, and he muttered angrily while standing on all fours “I have never been treated like this in my life, just wait until I’m back to my form, ugh”
His mumbling was stopped by what he saw next, Leo blanched at the sight, he could already hear his father’s voice telling him something among the lines of ‘I told you so’ and Leo felt his stomach that had been already unsettled enough twist again.
He saw the tail of a fish, cut in pieces by a sharp knife laying on the table, he could see an octopus’ legs pouring out of a boiling pot, and another fish was directly over the fire of the stove, was that a sailfish? He hoped it wasn’t a sailfish. Having seen enough, Leo wanted to get out of there immediately.
Yeah, he ate fish, it was the diet of most creatures down there in the hidden city, but the scene was grotesque, and he didn’t want to find a massacred turtle there somewhere, if he did THEN he would empty his stomach.
Somewhere else in the castle you were overlooking the sea from the dining room with a tall ceiling and windows just as large, Casey was trying to talk to you despite knowing that your mind was elsewhere.
“Your highness, be reasonable,” She said, she only called you that when speaking of royal duty, duty was of utmost importance to Cassandra who had been raised as your aid from a young age, and now she was repeating most of what she had already said for the past couple of days “Nice young men just don’t swim around rescuing people in the middle of the ocean and then flitter off into oblivion like some—”
You rolled your eyes finally looking back at her “I’m telling you, Casey, he was real, I couldn’t have made that up and I’m not going to stop looking for him” You concluded.
“And when you find him? Will you finally settle down?” she asked, almost hoping you were in fact right.
You just crossed your arms “That’d be too rushed, I may be infatuated with him but I’m not crazy” You said with a huff “Once I find him, I’ll get to know him, confirm what I felt is real, we can go from there, slowly” you emphasized the last word.
At that moment you heard Sunita close to the entrance of the room “Come on now, don’t be shy! You look great!”
It had taken a while for Donnie to be dressed, familiar with the human need to wear a cloth over themselves but uncomfortable with the texture of some of the ones he had received at first, he was silently thankful for Sunita who had seemed to catch onto that and got him something more comfortable.
And yet, showing up like that in front of you made him nervous now, but finally, Sunita got him to stand stiffly under the arch of the entrance, for a moment, he forgot he was meeting you as he examined the room like he had all the others, walking in completely in awe of the furniture and decorations inside.
As he got closer and was finally illuminated by the setting sun your eyes widened, you had found him handsome, of course, but still weren’t expecting him to clean up as well as he did.
You didn’t realize Casey had stepped close behind you, a smug grin on her face as she whispered in your ear, “Oh Y/N, what were you saying about your hero?” You turned to glare at her quickly before making your way over to your guest whose attention was back on you, he smiled tensely without knowing the proper etiquette.
“You look great, how are you feeling?” You asked, not one to forget your manners just because the sight of someone had made your traitorous heart glance away for a moment.
Donnie made a gesture to show he was better now and Casey guided him over to the table, speaking as firmly as ever “Come! It is important to get sustenance into your body after a horrible experience!”
You made your way to the table sitting next to your guest at the head of it, your mind wandered to the moment you found him at the beach, and you fought down the resurfacing disappointment from when you found out it wasn’t him you had been looking for.
The moment he sat on the table Donnie’s eyes drifted to the tableware, recognizing happily the instruments used for human eating traditions, he got excited, he would finally find out how a fork and spoon are used in practice! He was practically vibrating in his seat.
“Sunita, what’s for dinner?” You asked the moment your lady-in-waiting got close, hoping to divert your attention from the man at your left.
“Oh, you’ll love it, chef Swaggart is fixing his specialty, stuffed crab!”
Back in the kitchen Leo was trying to use his teleporting abilities to no avail, he huffed angrily “Really? I knew those two weren’t telling us something, why would the potion block our ninpo?” he asked himself before a singing voice interrupted him, Leo turned around to find the chef back in the kitchen.
It was his sign to run away, but his tiny turtle legs couldn’t get him far too fast, oh he hated being a regular turtle! He was so slow! His whole thing was to be fast!
So, lost in his mind as he was, the chef caught sight of him “What’s this? A red-eared slider?” The chef took Leo in his hand curiously “I didn’t ask for this, there’s just not enough meat on these tiny turtles” He hummed examining the turtle even closer “It’s also not flavorful enough…”
The chef was cut off, Leo had had enough and bit his nose the moment it was close enough, chef Swaggart yelled out in pain and Leo went out flying.
Not even Señor Hueso would treat him like this in the palace kitchen! Or well, he might have a couple of times, but at least Leo could defend himself then!
A battle began in the kitchen while Donnie was none the wiser.
Soon enough, the food was being served, and while it was, Casey was proposing that you take your guest over to see the sights of the kingdom.
You glanced up to look at her “Sorry, what was that?”
While Casey was scolding you about how you couldn’t keep moping about in the castle –Donnie wondered what you could have been moping about— a plate was served right in front of him.
Casey wasn’t looking at hers while lifting the cover, but Donnie was and he suddenly panicked at seeing his brother served next to a stuffed crab, Leo smiled sheepishly at Donnie who responded with an exasperated glare, how did he get there?!
Donnie lifted the covering of his own plate while you and Casey talked, signaling for Leo to hurry and hide in there, Leo didn’t have to be told twice, he rushed as fast as his tiny legs would take him and dove in, Donnie innocently closing the lid immediately and looking up as if he had been paying attention to the conversation.
“Well, what do you say?” You asked Donnie, smiling brightly at him and he nodded quickly, having no idea what he had agreed to.
Thankfully you explained right after he had already agreed “Great! We’ll go out tomorrow morning, is it Ok with you if we go by carriage for our tour of the kingdom?”
A tour of the kingdom, a tour of the kingdom! Donnie nodded ecstatic, not knowing how a carriage would be pulled on land and already wishing to find out, he was about to explore the human world like he had always wanted, in his immediate future! It was happening, and not only that, but you were going to be his guide, when he thought about it after saving you it had seemed like an impossible dream, and yet it was a reality now.
Casey herself seemed satisfied at your answer “Excellent, we shall start our dinner now before it gets cold, so you have energy tomorrow!” Casey looked at the crab on her plate, ignoring the empty space at the side of it.
Donnie observed your manners and use of utensils carefully throughout dinner, repeating motions the best he could and thanking April in his mind for telling him as much as she had about them, you got shy at seeing him pay attention to you so closely but continued eating and chatting like normal.
After dinner you guided Donnie over to the library, he looked curiously at the stacks of books that covered the walls when you reached a desk all by its lonesome on the far end of the library.
“I come here to read or work sometimes, when I don’t want to be cooped up in my office” you explained before pulling open a drawer on the dress and taking out something, a piece of parchment and what looked like a feather alongside a black container.
You looked shyly up at him before speaking up again “I, um, realized a moment ago that I never introduced myself, and was hoping we could do that now.”
Donnie faltered for a moment, it had started becoming infuriating not to talk, he ranted a lot, he liked doing that, and being unable to talk with you was becoming depressing.
You took him out of his thoughts by offering your hand to him with a small smile “My name’s Y/N” you said, and he smiled a bit, he grasped your hand shaking it firmly, instead of asking for his name though you offered the feather to him, he smiled, hoping really hard that the writing language was the same for humans as it was for yokai.
He leaned over the paper, and you watched attentively as the pen ran through the page.
Donatello.
You grinned while reading the name “Donatello” you said, taking him by surprise, he smiled sheepishly but was much more relieved now that you had a way to communicate even if it wasn’t ideal, with this realization he started writing again, your gaze following his hand again.
Or Donnie.
You realized he was giving you a nickname you could call him and nodded at him “It’s nice to meet you Donnie” you said smiling gently and he grinned while his heart fluttered.
Later that night Donnie was looking out the window of the room you had given him while Leo played around a table with a large mirror and jewelry that was left around.
“I hope you appreciate what I went through for you today, Donnie!” Leo exclaimed calling for his twin’s attention, Donnie just rolled his eyes, closing the window and walking over to the table, Leo kept rambling “It was humiliating, gosh, I miss Hueso, oh and just so you know the chef mentioned something about softshell turtle soup” Leo shivered and Donnie made a face of disgust.
Donnie took out a notebook you had given him to communicate and placed it on the table right next to Leo, he started writing and Leo rolled his eyes the moment he read the words.
‘No one asked you to come.’
“And leave you alone? Wandering around the human world all by yourself when your favorite brother could accompany you? Not a chance” Leo scoffed managing to hang a golden necklace over his neck.
Donnie thought for a moment before asking something he’d been wondering for a while, this could backfire on him easily and he’d never hear the end of it from Leo, but the curiosity was eating him up, so he just decided to roll with it, Leo was so tiny anyways, Donnie could just hide him in a drawer until everything was done if he bothered him, so he started writing and Leo only turned to read once he knew Donnie was done.
‘Why are you encouraging this now? Why did you go looking for her statue?’
“What? If you wanted the Leo special teasing you only had to ask, Oh I have been waiting to do this loverboy—” Leo had started with a grin but turned to look at Donnie’s serious face and faltered, Leo groaned loudly before continuing “Fine, It’s not fun if you can’t even complain about it.”
Leo removed the jewelry from his form and wandered off to the jewelry box to search for more things “At first, I just wanted you to forget it like Raph did, it was impossible and papa would have never approved, it was just a crush anyway, right? So, I thought you’d just move on.” Leo was throwing rings around, trying to find one that would fit his feet “But then I realized that you had never taken a real interest in anyone until now, it made me angry because why did you have to choose a human out of anyone? You just love making things hard for yourself don’t you Donton?”
Donnie made a face, but Leo was not looking at him yet, Donnie was about to write something else on the paper when Leo stopped his movements and continued talking “I just kept running scenarios in my mind of what would go wrong if you tried pursuing her, or the human world but…” Leo sighed with a frown “you were as insistent about her as you were about the human world and with just the tiny bit of hope that you had about meeting her, you just looked so happy.”
Donnie looked at his twin in surprise, but Leo kept ranting his tone immediately changing from the vulnerability that it held a second before to something easier “Don’t think I believe Big Mama and Draxum though, it’s just too easy, they’re definitely hiding something, but we’re here and you finally got a chance so why wouldn’t I help you?” Leo concluded by fitting a ring on his foot and looking satisfied about it.
Donnie turned his face the other way to hide his expression, Leo may not have been fully on board with him doing all of this, but it was obvious he had changed his mind for Donnie’s sake the moment he turned human.
Donnie smacked the side of Leo’s head with a finger “Hey!” Leo exclaimed but laughed while Donnie chuckled silently, he finally removed the jewelry and they both fell on the bed, Donnie jumped on it and bounced up slightly, and Leo bounced higher with a ‘Woah!’, almost falling off, Donnie looked surprised and then realized how comfortable the bed felt on his back, he could get used to that.
“Okay Casanova, tomorrow you start wooing her! I’m talking the whole nine yards Don, and with yours truly it would be impossible for you to not get your kiss before the month ends, better than that, you’ll get your kiss in a week, I guarantee.”
Leo didn’t realize Donnie had already fallen asleep, but the sea, even this late at night, was restless.
King Splinter was swimming in front of one of the castle’s windows when his messenger, the little seahorse showed up right in front of him in a hurry “Any sign of them?” King Splinter asked hopefully, but those hopes were crushed in a moment.
“No, your majesty” The seahorse reported “We’ve searched everywhere, we’ve found no trace of any of your sons, even with Shelldon’s reports.”
Splinter looked pained but continued firmly “Well, keep looking, leave no shell unturned, no coral unexplored, let no one in this kingdom sleep until they’re safe at home” he ordered before turning back towards his throne.
The seahorse sighed dejectedly “Yes, sire” they said before leaving with a bow.
Once alone, Splinter buried his face in his hands “Oh what have I done?” He lamented “What have I done?”
-
Night came and went, and soon in the morning, Donnie had dressed quickly with Sunita’s help, hiding Leo in his pocket without minding his brother’s grumbles and just chuckling at the poor turtle, Donnie then hurried to meet you near the doors where a carriage was waiting.
His gaze shifted into one of awe as he stared at the beasts that pulled the carriage, he neared them unconsciously before jumping a bit at the sound of your voice behind him.
“Do you like horses?” You asked, your head was tilted slightly to the side questioningly and your usual carefree smile was right there directed at him.
Horses? Like seahorses? He wondered; Donnie smiled sheepishly before nodding, you seemed to brighten up at his response “Me too! Have you ever ridden in one?”
Donnie shook his head negatively, even if you had been talking of seahorses, he had never been old enough and small enough at the same time to ride one of course, though these four-legged beasts were much bigger and different.
“Well maybe we can try that another day,” You said happily before walking over to the side of the carriage, Donnie looked at you in surprise before beaming at the realization that you were already planning the next time you both went out, he bumped the pocket where Leo was after hearing a small chuckle coming from him, receiving a small ‘ow’ he paid no attention to as he saw you opening the door of the carriage and offering him your hand.
Wait, you were offering him your hand! He stumbled to take it questioningly before realizing you were guiding him inside the carriage, he entered and sat on it, excited after the small burst of embarrassment had passed, you went in after and grinned at him “Also, good morning Donnie” You chirped before turning forwards and taking the ropes attached to the horses in your hands, thankfully fast enough to not see Donnie smile even wider at you.
You both turned to Cassandra and Sunita that were bidding you goodbye from inside the castle and waved before you pulled the reins and called out to the horses, the carriage quickly began to move on its way out of the doors being opened by guards.
Donnie looked around in awe, leaning slightly out of the vehicle to see how it moved without floating, he leaned down as much as he could and looked attentively at the wheels underneath the carriage wondering how they were attached, as he tried to figure it out he heard a light chuckle coming your way, he straightened up and turned around to look at you embarrassed when he realized the way he was acting, but halted when he noticed the soft expression on your face, and even though the expression left a dusted blush on his cheeks Donnie felt more confident after seeing it.
He got sidetracked when he saw some streetlights with intricate designs on the path you were following toward the town, when you realized what had grabbed his attention you started speaking.
“The lanterns are turned on when the sun starts setting, the design is Danish, actually most of our buildings—” You started talking about the town and the designs of most of its public services and buildings or the basic functioning of it, at some point you cringed at yourself, realizing you must be boring your guest with your rant, you turned your gaze from the road back to him to apologize but almost bit your tongue in surprise when you caught his gaze.
He had been paying you all his attention with an excited look on his face like he was truly interested in what you were saying, and though it was just basic knowledge you had about your kingdom as the princess it made you blush that he was so seemingly focused and happy to hear it.
You stuttered a bit before continuing your explanation with a bright smile on your face.
As the carriage walked over the water through a bridge, Leo, who had escaped the confines of Donnie’s pockets, leaned out after hearing some splashing, looking at the water he found Mikey swimming on the surface of the water, a spiky shell following him close behind.
“Has she kissed him yet?” Mikey asked with an excited smile and Leo rolled his eyes scoffing.
“No way, they’ve been talking about buildings or something, and he didn’t even listen to my plan to get him his kiss.” Leo knew Donnie had never flirted once in his life or been anything but curt to anyone he’d just met, his twin’s lack of experience made it so Leo could see his plans all going downhill.
“Aw,” Mikey whined still following from where he could reach in the water.
Leo looked back over to Donnie boredly, but his expression soon changed as he noticed the one on his twin’s face, Donnie was smiling more confidently at you while you explained something about the city and its architecture, holding every bit of his attention in your words, Leo was surprised at how his twin’s attitude had changed in just a moment, you both suddenly looked more comfortable around one another, like actual friends, a great contrast to yesterday when Donnie had seemed so sheepish at actually getting his wish and you both had only shared pleasantries.
Leo smiled a bit, realizing his brother might not be that much of a lost cause if the way you were smiling and speaking to him was anything to go by.
The day went by fast, with Donnie looking at everything with excitement and wonder that almost made your heart melt, everything new he found he looked back at you as if asking you what it was and you explained what the thing was or how it worked patiently, wondering more and more about the man that was hanging onto your every word like he was experiencing the whole world for the first time.
Where could someone as passionate and curious about learning as Donnie have come from? You asked yourself while seeing him grab onto a puppet happily before realizing he had taken the inanimate object from a hand, you laughed at his antics like you hadn’t laughed in a while.
Maybe his mutism had prevented him from learning about the world? You frowned at this thought, knowing there was a lot of bigoted people out there.
You realized after a moment that Donnie had stopped in front of a mural, you looked at it before humming and starting your explanations “This is one of my favorite stories, I used to love these murals as a child, they all speak of yokai and merfolk”
Donnie’s gaze never left the mural, but his eyes widened and his mouth parted in surprise at your words, you continued.
“Yokai were creatures that came from the sea many years ago, they could take many different forms, like birds, foxes, spiders, and most of all sea creatures, they all had tails when in the sea but were able to transform their tails into legs to walk alongside us and for a time they visited the land and co-existed with humans, helping them with the use of magic” you spoke while he looked at the beginning of the mural that showed various yokai coming from the sea.
You frowned again, remembering what you just had thought about how some people probably didn’t accept Donnie for his mutism, you continued your story “However there were some humans and yokai that didn’t accept each other at all, humans who feared yokai because of what they were capable of doing and yokai who thought of humans as a pest invading the seas” Donnie frowned at your words when he looked at a dark reddish figure in the mural, seemingly discussing with a human, there was something familiar about the figure, but he couldn’t pinpoint what.
“I don’t know what happened next exactly, but the tale says some humans started hunting yokai and the rest of the yokai returned to sea, furious at the humans and vowing to never return.” You finished your story before tracing the figure of a mermaid with your eyes “I’ve always loved the idea of yokai and merpeople, and never understood why the tale ended so tragically, wouldn’t it be amazing if a world like that existed?” You wondered softly, finally, Donnie’s gaze went back to you.
Just recently he had thought humans and yokai had never been able to interact and now, after what his father revealed, bits and pieces of the puzzle kept falling in place, while he was still angry at hi father, he could also understand why what Donnie could figure happened to him would make him have that attitude against humans, but watching you and this beautiful mural that had existed probably longer than the both of you, made it seem more unfair that because of a share of humans and yokai the rest had to avoid each other.
There were so many things he wished to tell you, but writing them down didn’t seem like the proper way to go about it, his heart felt calm though, realizing you longed for the same world he did.
He had an entire month and in that amount of time he was sure he’d be able to explain everything to you and how your fairytales were more real than you could think, he was the perfect proof of it, you both seemed to look at each other then, and smiled, like you had reached some sort of understanding.
The sound of music called his attention, and Donnie turned his head around to see a kiosk full of people dancing as a band played, Donnie grinned, studying the way the humans moved their legs to dance, he personally felt it was more of a show than just dancing while floating on a tail where you would depend much more on hand movement.
You, as you had been doing, noticed his gaze and smirked before walking right in front of him, Donnie looked at you curiously before his eyes widened, seeing you bow slightly and offer your hand, palm up to him.
“Would you honor me with this dance?” You asked, your eyes sparkling mischievously as you looked at him and Donnie took your hand in reflex with a confident smirk, it made your grin widen as you guided him through the crowd towards the kiosk, before Donnie’s confidence was hit by a blow.
While he had always considered himself the best dancer out of his brothers there was no way the same rules of dancing were applicable to this situation, he had barely learned how to walk, how would he go around on both feet without embarrassing himself? Donnie looked around at everyone else, studying the movement of their legs anxiously before you grabbed his attention, pulling one of his hands to your shoulder and holding the other one with yours.
“Relax, follow my lead Donnie, just one foot to the left like this…” You demonstrated and he followed “And follow with the other one like this.” You explained, and a couple of steps later you were repeating the part, you both were dancing.
Donnie relaxed into the movements as he got used to the rhythm, soon becoming second nature as he looked back up at you, his smile turned softer as he looked at you having fun with him, making his cheeks warm but the expression never leaving his face, he only got smugger the more you danced, adding his own flair to the steps much to your delight.
Feeling daring he tried to spin you and you naturally followed his lead before returning to your rightful place in front of him chuckling slightly, your bright laugh making him feel dizzy.
The day continued like that before you were back in the carriage on your way to the castle as the sun started setting.
As you reached the castle and got ready to go down you suddenly stopped, looking thoughtful “Donnie?” you called for his attention and he looked at you questioningly so you’d continue “Would you like me to get a sign language instructor for you?” You asked while he looked surprised “That way we’d be able to communicate better and you can tell me what you think about everything.”
Donnie realized you probably noticed his anxiousness when he couldn’t rant about the things he was seeing or make a tough question, he immediately agreed to your proposal, smiling happily at you and nodding, receiving a heart warming smile back “Great! I’ll see to it in the morning!” Your words were accompanied by you reaching down to step out but Donnie beat you to it, he got down before you and reached your side of the carriage, offering you his hand to step down this time and taking you by surprise, you smiled a bit more shyly before accepting his hand and stepping down the carriage, the nearby lanterns illuminating you both as the sun disappeared in the horizon “Well, you better go inside, I’ll see you in the morning Donnie” you said, finally letting go of his hand and waving goodbye to him.
He waved at you before you disappeared through the doors of the castle and he sighed, burying his smile on his hands giddily while Leo popped out of his pocket again, laughing at his brother happily, because he’d never seen Donnie smile so much in one day.
The chemistry between both of you was almost tangible, he could understand why Donnie had seemed so head over heels so fast.
-
The days went by like this, in the morning you would both have breakfast together, and then an instructor would teach Donnie sign language in the library for a couple of hours and tell you afterward that he was a really fast learner having already memorized most signs and started practicing them with sentences.
“Not like you were, your highness” The instructor teased, you blew a raspberry.
“I wasn’t that slow, Donnie is just kind of a genius” You stated, smiling unconsciously at your statement.
Then usually the day would go with either Donnie and you doing your own thing, exploring the library for you to answer any questions he had, or going out into town.
Leo, Raph, and Mikey however were getting a bit anxious as the days passed, and despite how much closer the two of you were getting there hadn’t been any attempts at being more physically affectionate.
“Do you want to ride a horse?” You asked during breakfast one morning, Donnie was a pro now at eating with a fork, knife, and spoon, he looked up at you with an excited grin, the one he had whenever you proposed something new for him to try, he nodded quickly and you started explaining what kind of clothes he should use or what he should be ready for.
Later, you both stood at the entrance of the castle, but the horses and carriage that were usually there when you were going out were nowhere in sight, instead there stood two horses, a white mare and a black one, with you holding the reins of both and waving at Donnie to come.
“These are Nero and Blanche, very original names, I know” You giggled as he deadpanned the moment you said their names “They’re both very docile, so you can choose which you want to ride.”
Donnie thought for a moment before reaching out carefully to Blanche, who rubbed their snout on his hand, you chuckled rolling your eyes “Of course, you would choose the white horse, like a prince” You chuckled without noticing how flustered you had just made him with your statement.
‘I’d love being your prince charming’ he thought to himself before hiding his embarrassment and walking over to Blanche’s side.
You taught him quickly how to get up on the horse and once he was up you guided them out of the castle by the reins, you kept telling him what to do to ride before getting up on your horse and guiding him from there, both horses attached to one another so one wouldn’t stray far.
After a while you were both riding through a meadow happily, Donnie still didn’t know enough sign language to hold a conversation but you had a lot of laughs trying and teasing each other with signs.
-
While the sun was finally setting and you reached a river close to the sea, Leo decided this was the perfect chance to finally get Donnie his kiss.
Wanting to give the horses some rest you tied them close to the river and pointed over to a canoe, both you and Donnie getting on it to explore the river, ignorant of the three brothers that had reunited in the water and watched you attentively.
“Move over, move your big shell, I can’t see anything” Leo whined behind Raph who huffed.
“Nothing is happening” He responded.
“There’s only four days left! What is Donnie waiting for?” Mikey asked worriedly, while Leo made his way on top of Raph’s shell.
“I keep telling Donnie time is running out, and at night he seems like he is listening to me and going to do something about it, but come day when her eyes are on his line of sight, and bam! He suddenly forgets we’re in a hurry in favor of getting lost in them” Leo huffed tiredly, and a bit worried, since he still couldn’t figure out what Big Mama and Draxum were planning if Donnie didn’t get that kiss.
“If Donnie doesn’t start puckering up soon, Raph is going to make his way over there and make him,” Raph said impatiently “Let’s see how he likes that.”
“If Piebald was here, she would be setting up the whole ambiance with music, it’d be so romantic” Mike gushed, and an idea came to Leo.
“Hey Mikey, how long have you been watching Piebald direct and compose for?”
“Like, my whole life, you know this” Mikey said looking curiously at his older brother before it hit him “Oh, oh yeah! I can do this baby!”
While Mikey disappeared into the waters for some animals to help him, Donnie and you were chatting calmly, you mostly spoke while Donnie shifted between writing in his notebook and showing you or trying to sign something with your help.
He was happy with just that when he started hearing music, he looked around trying to find out where the music was coming from but saw nothing, Donnie was confused until he noticed his little brother a little further away talking to some ducks and insects, imitating Piebald.
Oh gosh, his brothers were trying something, and while he was immediately embarrassed by the prospect, when he looked back at you under the light of the sunset he also realized he needed to take any chance he could, his infatuation only grew stronger every day so much so it wasn’t only a crush anymore, he was sure, and he wanted so badly for you to feel the same.
He was fascinated with the way you spoke of your kingdom, and how you were so willing to explain even the tiniest details to him and ready to wait patiently while he wrote something he was excited about sharing with you, always lighting up at his words and making his stomach flutter with your laugh.
But you were also so sarcastic and you never missed a chance to tease him with that smug look of yours, it drove him mad because despite the glare he would send your way most times he absolutely loved your attitude, you were so much more than the determined princess he had crushed on for her heroic acts, you were snarky and confident and yet would blush at the slightest hint of smoothness from him.
You were everything he’d already thought you were and so much more, so, while he was nervous about his brothers interfering, Donnie had to take the chance that you might be feeling the same way as him.
He was just glad his brothers had opted for only music and no singing; he didn’t know if he could have dealt with that embarrassment.
“Do you hear that?” You wondered looking around curiously and Donnie just shrugged at you nervously, thank Poseidon he couldn’t speak, he was a terrible liar.
The change of ambiance seemed to be exactly what he had needed because when your gazes met again this time there was some charged energy in the air, very different from before.
You cleared your throat shyly before looking away and continuing to row the boat, to Donnie’s dismay; but Raph seemed to have other plans, he’d managed to get some fireflies your way and their light grabbed your attention as they filled the late sky with their light surrounding the both of you, Donnie lit a lantern you had brought up on the boat as the sky darkened, it only served to make everything look even more beautiful and once again your attention was on him while he smiled softly at you, a warm smile that made your own heart hit your ribcage.
You returned his smile with one of your own but as his face grew closer to yours you looked away suddenly, feeling some sort of guilt in you.
You had spent so long looking for your savior, a man you might never even find again, and yet why did it feel like you were betraying him the further you fell for Donnie? It wasn’t fair, it wasn’t fair at all, the way you felt for Donnie ran much deeper than the way you felt for your savior, with Donnie you had actually talked and spent time together, laughing like you hadn’t in years.
“What would I give to know more of your world…of you.”
His words lingered in your mind, you felt like you had to give him that, you had wanted to show your savior your world.
And yet, hadn’t you done all of that for Donnie?
Your gaze lifted slowly back to your companion and your heart sank as you saw him looking far away into the water with a sad expression, you had never seen Donnie look like that and you couldn’t stand the fact that it was your fault.
Realizing this, you took a firm stance within yourself, your savior may have been a lightning bolt experience, but Donnie was here, and he was already the most incredible person you had ever met, incredibly smart, and funny in a way that allowed you to let go of all your dark humor, maybe mean at times and yet even that you found endearing.
You liked Donnie, maybe even more than that, you really did.
The thought of your savior was pushed to the far back of your mind for you to forget later, and your hand reached out towards Donnie’s face, he startled for a moment before turning to you and allowing your hand to rest on his cheek, his eyes suddenly hopeful when he saw the smile on your face directed solely at him.
Without you noticing, the boat went under a weeping willow, hiding you from the moon in its darkness, and yet the lights of the fireflies and lantern still enveloped you, coloring you with soft yellow hues under which you looked like a painting from the eyes of a lovesick artist.
Donnie reached out to your other hand with his and your fingers got intertwined together, you squeezed his fingers lightly, the hands resting on his knee while you looked at each other, there wouldn’t be any chance for him to write or sign something.
That was Ok, you didn’t feel like saying anything either, not with the way he was looking at you right now, like you were the only thing that mattered, like he wanted this just as much as you did, so you closed your eyes, feeling his breath near your face and wondering when you both had gotten so close.
The moment you were about to kiss, the boat shook underneath you and you both were thrown into the shallow water.
You sputtered out water and Donnie helped you up worriedly, you smiled at him, apologizing for having lost track of where the boat was going, it probably hit a rock or something. The moment was completely gone and you cursed your absentmindedness, but when you looked up at Donnie who was trying to help you dry and get back on the boat you smiled, looking at him dreamily, you had all the time in the world.
So first of all, I LOVE your Little Mermaid Donnie AU!! And I have a question.
When you are done with that AU and start and finish the Leo Anastasia AU, would you possibly be doing the Little Mermaid 2 with Donnie? I think that would be a cute sequel and idea.
You can completely ignore this.
Hope you have a good day/night/evening!
I-- I HADN'T EVEN THOUGHT ABOUT THAT
that would be adorable 🥺 but Idk if I feel confident enough about making a child OC for the reader and Donnie, what do you guys think? If I continue with the second movie would you like me to make an OC character for melody?
A human child that loves the sea and tales of mermaids and yokai but has no idea of their father's yokai heritage or her uncles (There's so much angst potential there)
Tell me if you think it's a good idea!
HUMAN DONNIE! I drew this the other day but could only post it now along chapter 3 of my The little merturtle AU.
The alchemist and the queen
A pair of eyes stared at Donnie as he sobbed at the bottom of his treasure cove, now only filled with piles of dust and burnt memories, the gargoyles slowly came out of hiding, swimming in circles around him.
“Oh, poor guy” Huginn said “That was really tough, don’t you think?”
His companion nodded sympathetically while Donnie raised his head to see them, a glare prominent between his brow “Oh, yes it was, I didn’t expect king Splinter to treat one of his children like that! It was so unfair.”
“Yes! So unfair!”
“What do you want?” Donnie snarked “That was private, don’t stick your nose where it doesn’t belong” He growled.
“Man, sorry! We’re being rude Huginn” Muninn said, and Donnie heard Huginn apologize “We don’t have any ill will, we were just passing and hear the whole thing, it sounded like someone was in trouble.”
“Yeah, and after what we watched we just wanted to see if you were okay” Huginn finished, Donnie loosened his guard slightly, he was way too tired to fight them now, the crying had taken away all his energy and he just wanted a long nap.
Before he could tell them to leave again Huginn spoke once more “The collection you had was incredible, oh I love human stuff”
“Yeah! Master Draxum has a lot of their things lying around” Muninn said happily, grabbing Donnie’s attention.
“Draxum?” The turtle asked.
Hook.
“Oh yeah, you’ve heard of Draxum right?” At Donnie’s deadpan look that said he absolutely didn’t or he wouldn’t have asked Muninn continued “He’s a great warrior alchemist! He has been experimenting with human DNA since forever, he and Big Mama used to work together but that was, well, it was when Big Mama was still queen.”
Donnie raised an eyebrow, he had heard about Big Mama, at least briefly, but she had been long since dethroned by his father when Donnie was just a guppy, the only thing he knew about her was that she was dangerous and had been exiled because of that.
But of course, he thought bitterly, his father didn’t tell him many things it seemed.
“Why would he experiment with human DNA?” Donnie asked.
Line.
“Well usually Big Mama would give favors to her most valued subjects and a couple of times the requests were for them to be able to walk on land with the humans, with her magical powers as an energy source and Draxum’s alchemy they managed to find a way to give yokai the ability to live up top and vice versa, it was a time when both humans and yokai coexisted!”
Donnie’s eyes widened and he could have gotten whiplash with how fast he looked back at the gargoyle; the words that had just been spoken to him seemed like an impossible fairytale, it couldn’t be true, could it? A time when humans and yokai interacted together.
His mind went into overdrive, piecing all the puzzle pieces together, the mandate for yokai to not get in contact with humans was only put in place when his father acquired the throne, maybe that was how he himself had learned of yokai while being a human?
Donnie gulped loudly, his father had said he was ‘turned into this’, maybe the two of them had done that? And maybe that was why Big Mama had been exiled.
His eyes shifted between the gargoyles “So Draxum could help yokai walk on land?”
Huginn nodded “Definitely, why? Are you curious? It’s only natural, humans make so many cool things, it just makes sense.”
Donnie hesitated for a moment, he looked down at the pieces of debris covering the floor of his cove when he found it, his eyes paused wide on a piece of rock that had been separated from the rest, your statue had broken mostly in tiny pieces, except for your face, it lay there right in front of him sending a pang through his chest again, of both sadness and anger.
It pushed him to make a choice.
“Guide me to them” He ordered.
Sinker.
Huginn and Muninn smiled at him “Sure buddy, come on! Follow us.”
Swimming around in circles somewhere still in the reef were Raph and his two brothers.
“I didn’t mean to tell” He swore, “It was an accident!”
“We know, big guy” Leo said, kicking a pebble with his tail.
“We just need to give Donnie some space, what happened was…” Mikey cringed “Devastating to him, to say the least” He muttered, it didn’t make Raph feel much better.
He was about to say something else when they both heard Shelldon calling out to them, they turned to see the little turtle hurrying their way.
“Dudes! It’s Donnie! He’s going with some gargoyles far away from the limits!” He explained rapidly.
The guys all looked at each other worried “Which way was he going?” Leo asked.
They soon caught up to their brother who was swimming along the gargoyles, Raph recognized those gargoyles, he’d heard tales from the castle’s servants when he was little, of a banished alchemist and his subjects, it made him hurry as his mind alerted him of danger.
“Donnie!” Raph called swimming close to his brother “Where are you going?!”
“I’m going to see Big Mama and Draxum,” Donnie said in a monotone, a firm frown still set on his face that told his brothers he didn’t plan on changing his mind or listening.
Raph still tried “What?! Donnie no! Draxum is dangerous, he’s a demon!”
“Why don’t you go tell father Raphael?” Donnie bit back, looking at his brother for just a moment before continuing on his way “You’re good at that.”
Raph faltered slightly but Mikey gave him a reassuring look and the three all followed their brother into the lair of the exiled queen and warrior.
“Wow” Donnie winced once they reached the entrance “Stunning choice of décor,” He said sarcastically, looking at the dry algae laying around the unkempt place, he saw then something that petrified him, in between the algae there was something else, something alive and looking dry, many of them shriveling where they stood stuck to the walls of the cave, some beings with eyes, staring straight at him.
Donnie shivered and swam faster, wanting to get to the end quickly, maybe this was a bad idea.
One of those things took grasp of his arm and he gasped, pulling rapidly, grossed out by the thing, and feeling nauseous, he managed to unlatch it from his wrist, and without looking back he reached the end of the tunnel as fast as he could.
“Come in, come in~” A feminine voice called out to him, Donnie breathed heavily after the experience but turned to see a yokai with pink skin and white hair looking back at him with a sweet smile. “Oh my, you look so white! Such worry is not good for your emerald complexion, here, sit, sit, I’ll get you something to drink.”
The woman guided him to a seat and Donnie by reflex sat, now holding a flower in his hands as a cup, he recovered from his panic and looked attentively at the woman with skepticism “Are you Big Mama?” He asked.
“That I am turtley-boo, oh look, your brothers are here” She said smiling at the other three turtles that swam in with caution. “come, come, I do not bite, oh it’s been so long since we’ve had guests” The woman hummed, her attitude and his brother’s presence –Though he’d deny it— calming Donnie slightly and apparently his brothers too who while still weary sat down next to him.
Before Donnie could get to the point of his visit she spoke again “Now, you’re here because you have a thing for this human, a human princess at that! You certainly know how to choose them, darling, she is quite a catch.” Big Mama said nodding her head approvingly but making Donnie tense up once again.
“How do you know that,” He asked with his eyebrows furrowed, Mikey was surprised he didn’t deny it.
“Oh dear turtley-boos it used to be my job, as you might know, to know everything about my subjects, to help the hidden city prosper! And of course, you do not remember me, but I was right there the day you were all created” She hummed knowingly making them all look at her questioningly “Oh you were such adorable little turtles just before Draxy made you into what you are, better, stronger! So powerful and intelligent!”
“Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, that’s nice and all, uh? Auntie? I guess, can I call you auntie? But I’m sorry, you just said we were ‘created’? As in, you know, do you mean born? “Ok, no, I’m confused about whatever you’re going on about” Leo blabbed looking for an explanation for this whole entire messy affair.
Big Mama hummed “You’re right, that’s so rude of me, perhaps Draxy can help me explain, Oh Draxy~!” She called out and from another room inside the cave a goat yokai walked out, firm in every step he took, way more serious than the old queen attending to them.
He didn’t have a friendly look to him, Raph thought, no wonder Big Mama was the one greeting guests with that attitude.
Draxum greeted them all as if he knew them personally to their shock, the two gargoyles hanging from his shoulders “It has been too long, my warriors.”
“Thank you, yes hi, this only raises more questions” Leo groaned loudly.
It wasn’t for long, the two exiled yokai used a magical orb to show them the day of their ‘mutation’ is what they called it, or bits of it at least, not that the boys would know.
It was explained to them how with Splinter turned into a merman they were mutated from mere turtles to merturtles and how Splinter was accidentally mutated into a rat afterward, what was left clear was that Draxum had created them, to Mikey that essentially made him their second dad and Big Mama had been there that day, working as the power source that helped in their creation.
“Your father and I had our disagreements” Big Mama looked sad, only Leo wasn’t buying it “After he was rejected by the human world he started going against all of our work in uniting both worlds, Draxum and I were exiled out here because we were the last connection between both” Big Mama lamented but then smiled softly at Donnie “Poor turtley-boo, longing to be understood, for a world he cannot have, humans are so full of curiosity aren’t they? Just like you, is that why you crave it so much? But thankfully, you found us, and what could be better for the relations between humans and yokai to thrive again than an alliance between the royalty of both worlds? Oh darling, wouldn’t it be beautiful?”
Donnie’s heart was beating hard in his chest with those suggestions, was it possible? Or was it dumb for him to believe? But his mind kept telling him that everything was right there in front of him! Draxum and Big Mama had just placed all of their cards on the table, while his own father had hidden the truth from them for their whole life!
His chest filled with hope when he saw how Raph and Mikey were much less tense, processing the situation with softer eyes, he could even see Mikey smile slightly.
Leo though wasn’t buying it at all, he could tell something wasn’t right.
“Donatello” Draxum spoke this time taking Donnie’s attention “Follow me for a moment will you?”
Donnie looked from the yokai who stood up to walk through one of the halls to his brothers, Leo was about to stop him but Mikey spoke first “Go! We’ll be right here!” He said cheerily and Raph agreed hesitantly, they were right there after all.
Donnie followed the yokai and they walked silently for a moment “Child, your curiosity is not a fault, in fact, without people like you our world would never get anywhere” The yokai assured finally looking back at the merturtle who was giving him his complete attention, his words reassured Donnie, no one had ever truly understood his fascination with the human world but this yokai had been working with humans before he was born, and Donnie, well Donnie craved the approval, he started smiling smugly at the older yokai’s words.
Draxum continued speaking “It is the intelligence you were blessed with that would make the world you seek a reality, do not let anyone fool you, here” Draxum stopped in front of a table filled to the brim with colorful potions, shining bright with unnatural colors, he took a fuchsia-colored one that reflected its light on his skin.
 “This is the potion that you need, the only way to get what you want is to become human yourself, it requires a strong energy source which Big Mama will help you with, after finishing the correct ritual you will be fully transformed.”
“A human?” Donnie was hesitant before questioning “I heard you helped yokai walk along humans.”
“Well that is true” Draxum agreed, Big Mama and the rest of Donnie’s brothers entered the room then, listening by the door “However I fear humans have not seen yokai for decades, it might be dangerous if you kept your form, looking like a human would help you socialize with them,”
Donnie nodded his head and his father’s words from before were back in his mind.
“That human you saved may have been grateful the moment she breathed, but once she realizes who saved her, she won’t look at you as a hero but a monster.”
It pained him slightly to think it might be true, a new insecurity had made its way into his mind, turbulent as it was already through so many events, but with that potion, he wouldn’t have to worry about that, if he could meet you as a human then –his heart beat a little faster— his chances with you might be much better, and eventually, he could tell you who he truly was, once he knew you’d be open to it.
Donnie nodded taking the bottle in his hands, Big Mama placed a reassuring hand on his shoulder.
“Now, before anything you must know this first, every spell has to be extremely specific and it has a cost as you boys may know” She began explaining “The potion and my magic will make you human for one month! It is very important that you keep track of the time because before the sun sets on the last day you need to make the princess fall in love with you.”
“What?!” There was a chorus of the four turtles exclaiming at the same time.
“But why?” Donnie asked blushing wildly.
“Well, the terms and conditions settle with a true love kiss as many do, I’m sure you know, but don’t worry I am sure you can do that!” Big mama pinched his cheeks, and he batted her hands away “The reason for that is the cost of the wish, to keep the form and remain on land for more than a month would be too expensive, only the true love kiss may seal the magic then.”
Donnie grunted in acceptance, he knew how costly spells could be and this wasn’t a simple one, his request was huge.
“If she does kiss you before the end of the month you may remain human, permanently! But if she doesn’t, you’ll turn back into a merturtle.” Big Mama finished.
Raph looked like he was about to say something, to pull Donnie away and tell him he shouldn’t go through with it, Leo beat him to it.
“That’s it?” He asked doubtfully “He’ll just be back, no other consequences?”
“Oh Poseidon, no” Big Mama assured, “Just like that! The only thing I ask of you Donnie is that you reunite our worlds, after all, you wouldn’t want to leave your brothers behind surely, nothing would be more perfect than that.” She said, turning to Donnie.
He was excited, a moment ago all his dreams seemed to have shattered into a million pieces and now he had a chance to explore the human world and its wonders like he had wanted his whole life and he could meet you! Properly, like he had wanted, there was only one more thing he needed to ask, even if he just wanted to dive right in for the potion before his brothers decided to pull him away.
“What is the cost to transform in the first place?” He asked and the attention of his brothers went back to the exiled.
“Your voice” Big Mama answered easily.
Raph gasped “His voice?! How is he even supposed to make the princess fall in love with him in a month if he can’t even talk?”
Donnie winced, his brother did make a good point, of course, the situation couldn’t be so perfect.
“Oh don’t worry, there are so many other methods of communication my dear! I am sure you will figure one out, and if she truly is worth it, I’m sure she won’t mind! So, whenever you want turtley-boo! You only need half of the potion and I’ll make the contract.”
“Donnie” Leo spoke quietly close to his twin “I know you want this but I don’t trust Big Mama, there’s something they’re not telling us.”
Donnie rolled his eyes “Oh come on Leo, this is my chance! This is the only way I would ever get to see the human world!” Donnie’s voice made Leo deflate “If I tried anything else dad would chain me down to the castle’s floor, I’m ready.”
Without listening to Raph trying to stop him Donnie hurriedly gulped down the fuchsia liquid, it went down quickly to the dismay of his brothers, and he left half of it untouched.
Rays of golden color started enveloping him, coming out of Big Mama’s hands, her eyes now glowing white, and a piece of paper floated right in front of Donnie, he took the pen in front of him and quickly signed his name on the paper, he tried to read its contents while doing so but only got so far because once his name was fully signed in it disappeared, the golden light turned green and Donnie started feeling a scratch on his throat, he coughed loudly before feeling like the water left his body.
His brothers looked at him in panic and determined Leo took the bottle with potion out of his grasp, chugging a whole gulp of it in before reaching out towards Raph and forcing the drink on the eldest’s mouth who coughed wildly after that having been taken by surprise, Leo did the same with Mikey and pulled them both toward were Donnie’s transformation had just begun.
“Wait!” Draxum yelled but the three other turtles were engulfed in the light too.
Mikey watched in terror as Donnie yelled, his tail separating in an instant and suddenly there was a pair of feet where it used to be.
He himself started feeling weird, but on his upper body, before he could think about it though Mikey felt someone pulling him to Donnie and he realized then that his brother could not breathe under the water anymore.
Donnie’s lungs felt like they were on fire, he was clawing at his throat and realized his gills were gone, he tried to pull himself up, but thankfully he was dragged up out of the cave by some pairs of…fins?
They reached the surface and Donnie gasped, breathing heavily, the air was sweet salvation from all the pain he’d just endured, two bodies pushed their way under his arms, pulling his tired body toward the shore, belatedly, he realized the fish pulling him forwards were his own brothers, transformed into fish, or well, Mikey was a fish, an overly grown goldfish.
It made Donnie wonder if they were more related to Piebald than they’d originally thought.
Raph however, looked like a full-grown alligator snapping turtle, it must have been the effect of drinking just a bit of the potion without the contract Donnie had made with Big Mama.
Donnie was deep in his delirium, trying to make sense of what was happening to deviate his mind from the pain he had just experienced, so he looked for Leo, assuming surely that like his tail he’d become a sailfish after the spell.
They were about to reach the shore, but Donnie couldn’t stay conscious any longer, unable to find Leo to distract himself, he blacked out.
You were walking outside the castle, the building lifted from the sea but overlooking it by rocks and pillars, you rested your back against one of its walls while Mayhem played around close to the water, Mayhem had always seemed to love the sea as much as you did, sometimes it seemed like if you left him alone he would swim deep into the waters like they were home.
Your smile was soft but was soon eclipsed by your thoughts as they wandered back to a couple of days ago, your mind kept repeating the words of your savior over and over again, it made your heart flutter, what you remembered him saying about wanting to know your world and you, you wondered what he meant exactly.
You were snapped out of your daydreaming by a bark from Mayhem, sighing softly you pulled yourself away from the wall and started walking away from the castle.
“Do you think Casey is right?” You asked your companion with a small frown “Maybe a did drink too much seawater? I mean I swear I saw a tail disappear into the water” you chuckled humorlessly, worried that so many mermaid tales had just messed with you that day and you had just imagined an impossible romance.
Mayhem’s bark in response made you smile again “You’re right, I can’t just give out hope already, right? I know what I felt that day” your confidence returned, at least slightly, maybe you should go around town again. You weren’t able to see him properly that time but you were sure you’d recognize his voice anywhere.
Donnie felt the beginnings of a headache and groaned while recovering consciousness, he must have been laying on the beach because he could feel the sand beneath his…actually, his back felt weird over the sand.
His hand reached up to his head to get rid of the headache when he felt it, Donnie jumped up to sit up straight at the feeling of five fingers on his forehead instead of three; his eyes examined the foreign hand in front of him with fascination and his expression turned gleeful at the realization of what he was looking at, a five-fingered hand in golden brown that was his own.
His gaze went down quickly to where his purple tail would rest to find in its place a pair of legs the same color as his arm, he was human! He was truly human! He moved his feet in fascination, the fingers moving almost one by one while his hands were flapping rapidly; he was so excited he could scream!
No sound came out of his mouth, but he was too elated to care or notice at that moment.
Mikey gasped with sparkly eyes “Donnie! You’re human!” His little brother screamed like he hadn’t noticed already “Ohmigosh, you look so weird but so cool! But what will dad say?! Oh what if he finds out, wait of course he’s gonna find out, oh and I’m a fish now, he’s gonna be so pissed, maybe he’s worried already! What if he comes looking for us? What if he mobilizes everyone and—”
“Mikey!” Raph called out beside him “Calm down! We can’t panic now! No one panic!” He said, already panicked, his eyes barely leaving Donnie who still looked too excited to care about what was happening around him, he was trying to stand up on both legs, at first, he almost fell down, but he managed to hold himself up, even though his legs trembled under his body.
That was until he heard Raph’s next words.
“We need to go back and tell pops, I should have done that the moment you started swimming to Draxum” Raph’s words sent Donnie into a frenzy, he reached out to his now more of a turtle brother, shaking his head over and over to express his discontent “Don’t shake your head at me, young man! Look at what’s happening! Maybe we can get Big Mama and Draxum to turn you back and give you back your voice! We’d go home and back to normal, then you’d just be…”
Raphael’s rant stopped slowly while he stared into his brother’s eyes which were just the same despite his human appearance, Donnie looked pained and it sent guilt straight into the core of Raph’s being “Just be…miserable for the rest of your life” Raphael conceded looking down at the sand and sighing, yes, he was worried, but it wasn’t fair of him to take away his brother’s final chance at everything he had ever wanted. He sighed before looking back at Donnie “All right all right, we’ll find that princess and get you that kiss.”
Donnie grinned wildly, his legs unconsciously moving up and down under him, making him unstable for a moment before he steadied himself again, he only then noticed one of his brothers must have covered him up with an old boat sail while he was unconscious because it was tied around his figure, ignoring that, for now, he instead punched the air to show his excitement, his brothers chuckled at him looking much calmer now.
“All right! We’re getting Donnie his smooches and giving dad a vacation, let’s go!” They heard Leo’s voice call out and looked around but couldn’t see anything “Right here big guy, ugh it’s weird calling you that instead of Raph” The merturtle mumbled.
Instead of what Donnie thought he’d find his eyes stumbled into a tiny red-eared slider turtle looking at him from over a rock and the now man couldn’t stop himself from falling backward on the sand as he tried to recover his breath, laughing soundlessly but wildly at the appearance of his twin brother.
Raph’s and Mikey’s laughter was much louder, and Leo only rolled his eyes “Oh give it a rest, would you?! I do all of this so we can help Donnie out and all I get from you guys is mocking!”
“You turned us into turtles and a fish!” Raph exclaimed “We don’t even know how to get back to our bodies! And how is Mikey going to follow Donnie on land?”
“Well yeah, I didn’t know what exactly the effect would be on us” Leo mumbled almost in a whisper “But! We do know when we’re going to be back to normal! We didn’t make a contract and only took a small dose of the potion, in a month regardless of what happens the three of us will just be back to normal no worries! Right, Donnie?” Leo said confidently and Raph looked from him to Donnie with skepticism.
Donnie who’d just recovered his breath looked thoughtful, he considered what Draxum and Big Mama had said and it seemed about right, he nodded in reply and started looking around for his mask which was nowhere to be seen, while he marveled about it being gone and realized finally that there was hair where it usually rested on his head Raph sighed and Leo looked smug.
“All right fine, now, how do we find this princess?”
You were still walking close to the shore when Mayhem suddenly started jumping around you, barking and trying to pull you further away “Woah, what’s up Mayhem?” You asked the pet who kept making motions for you to follow, and you gave in with a chuckle, following Mayhem as they ran far away from you.
“All right Donnie, can you just tie that better? It’s gonna fall any moment now and I really don’t wanna see THAT” Leo groaned pointing at the cloth over Donnie’s body who was trying to hold it over his shoulder and waist.
A familiar bark took their attention, nearing them quickly.
Mayhem rushed over Donnie’s way and not knowing what to expect he hurried over to a rock, trying to hide from the creature behind it, Mayhem jumped close to Donnie who looked back in amazement before he heard your voice, repeating the scene back at the ship when he had seen you for the first time.
Donnie’s knees wobbled for a moment but he stabilized himself again quickly seeing you reunite with your pet before your eyes went up and clashed with his.
You seemed to pause in surprise and he wondered for a moment if you had recognized him somehow despite how different he looked now.
Mayhem went back to Donnie, jumping around and turning back to look at you like he was saying ‘Here! He’s right here!’, when you looked at this man you had the same feeling from before with your savior, you were confident Mayhem was right, this was him, it had to be, he looked shipwrecked, his hair drenched and he was covered in only a battered sail that had probably belonged to your own ship.
“Are you okay sir?” You asked as you neared him, Donnie’s eyes never leaving your face as he smiled and nodded rapidly at you, you smiled back before looking back at Mayhem and reaching out to hold them in your arms “I’m sorry if my, uh, dog, scared you, they’re harmless, just a bit hyperactive sometimes” You chuckled trying to avoid his gaze, it made you a bit nervous, you wanted to ask, you really wanted to ask if he was whom you thought, but if your eyes crossed with his again you were worried you’d stutter your question instead.
If you could only hear him speak it would confirm everything.
“Have I met you before?” You asked still petting Mayhem “You seem very familiar to me” That wasn’t true, you had never seen his face before but the feeling wouldn’t leave your body.
Donnie’s eyes seemed to sparkle when he heard you say that, he wanted to answer ‘Yes! That was me!’ but knew he couldn’t, if you just looked back up, he could nod in confirmation.
As if you had heard his thoughts you looked back up at him again allowing him the chance to nod in response, your smile seemed to widen impossibly and he could have swooned, feeling dizzy from your reaction “We HAVE met! I knew it!” You said letting go of Mayhem to get closer to him, forgetting how nervous you had just been a moment ago at the confirmation “You’re the man who saved me, I had been looking for you! What’s your name?”
Donnie faltered, realizing he couldn’t tell you his name.
Your smile dropped slowly “What’s wrong?” You asked worriedly and Donnie tapped his throat with his hand, trying to explain he couldn’t speak, you caught on “You can’t speak?” Donnie nodded and noticed you looked surprised then a bit disappointed “Oh, then you couldn’t be who I thought, I’m sorry for mixing you up” You smiled in apology and Donnie felt like smashing his face on the sand, no! He was! This was recent, his mutism happened just now! Oh, but how could he tell you so? How would you even believe that?
Donnie could hear the groans of his brothers coming from behind him and felt the need to groan too, instead, he leaned over the rock he had been standing behind and tried to make signs with his hands, there had to be a way for him to explain this!
You looked up at him curiously as he once again tapped his throat trying to communicate something, he waved his hands away from his throat in a leaving motion, trying to explain his voice had left, your head tilted to the side in confusion “Your breath?” he quickly made a dismissing motion, repeating the signal from before and then making a wave with his hand to simulate swimming “You need help?” you asked and his movements became wilder, in his frenzy he leaned over too much and almost fell, you gasped but managed to catch him quickly before he did.
Donnie was shocked at realizing he was now in your arms, his movements halting while you tried to lift him back to his feet “Woah careful!” You said worriedly but his cheeks felt really warm and if he could speak he would be completely unable to form a coherent sentence, for once he was relieved for his mutism if only for a moment, how were you so strong?! Despite lacking his tail he knew he couldn’t be too light.
“You really must have been through something” He tuned back into reality when you spoke, you looked worried about him but then smiled reassuringly “Don’t worry! I’ll help you” You said, with him standing up again you still laid one of his arms over your shoulders thinking he might need help walking since he seemed to have trembling legs.
Donnie was surprised but happy, you were taking him to the castle! He looked back over his shoulder towards his brothers with a grin, Mikey and Raph were making signs of approval and smiling back at him, but Leo was once again nowhere to be found.
Or so did Donnie think before realizing there was a weight on the sail covering him, he looked down to see Leo sitting on it, traveling along without doing anything and smiling lazily back at Donnie, Donnie rolled his eyes at his brother, secretly thankful that he was small enough to follow along.
He kept walking with you, his legs a bit wobbly but you helped him keep steady all the way to the castle.
♡~~♡~~♡~~♡~~♡
Pt 1 Pt 2
Summary: You and Leo spend the night getting to know each other on your balcony.
Warnings: Mild swearing!
Requested: ???
GN Reader!
.........................................
You hummed quietly to yourself as you trimmed one of the ferns on your balcony.
You were currently waiting for Leo to arrive, as the two of you had planned to spend some time getting to know each other better.
You had spent a fair amount of time with the blur clad turtle, what with him visiting every now and again to, "Check in." as he said, and the occasional texting.
You didn't mind though, you liked it when he visited. You learned quite a bit about him, like how he had three younger brother's, and that they were all named after famous renaissance painters.
Just as you had traded your trimmers for the watering can, a familiar thump! sounded behind you, alerting you of Leonardo's arrival.
You glanced back with a smile, then moved to water your orchid, "Fancy meeting you here."
Leo chuckled, "Indeed, do you come here often?"
"You could say that."
The two of you devolved into a fit of childish giggles, "That's so stupid." you said, giggling.
Leo shook his head as he chuckled, "Yeah. yeah it is. How have you been anyway? Anymore trouble with Purple Dragons?"
"Nope," You said as you examined your cherry tree, "Infact, last time I saw afew of them, they literally ran in the other direction."
"Well at least you don't have to worry about getting mugged."
"I suppose there is that." you agreed, then asked, "Speaking of mugging, shouldn't you be on patrol? I know we planned to meet and all, but still. I don't want to be the reason you miss a patrol."
Leo shook his head, a small smile gracing his features, "No, my brothers offered to let me have the night off, so don't worry about that."
You hummed in response, examining the buds of your tulips. The two of you talked for a while, different topics coming and going, until eventually the topic of gardening came up.
Leo offhandedly metion that he had a few bonsai trees back at his home, and when you asked if he'd ever seen them bloom, he replied that, no, they had never been able to bloom due to lack of sunlight.
"Well you could bring them here. I'd be more than happy to help take care of them, plus it gives you an excuse to visit more often."
Leo chuckled, "Quite eager for my company, aren't we?"
You blushed lightly throwing a pebble at is forehead, "Shut up. You don't have to bring them here, I was just saying that maybe-"
"I'd actually appreaciate it if you'd allow me to bring them over. You know alot more about plants than I do, and you can tell me if maybe I've been doing something wrong." Leo picked up the extra watering can you kept, and he started to water some of the other flowers, "And like you said, it gives me an excuse to visit more often."
You giggled, "Quite eager for my company, aren't we?"
Leo laughed, shaking his head and continued help you tend to your plants. After some more time together, the two of you agreed he could drop by with the bonsai sometime that Saturday.
You looked at the time on your phone with a sigh, "It's getting really late, and I have work tommorow."
Leo nodded, "I should probably be getting home soon anyhow, I do need to make sure my brothers returned in one piece afterall."
The two of you said a quiet good-bye, and you watched as Leo lept away over the rooftops.
As you lay comfortably in bed, you smile softly to yourself, the promise of seeing Leo that coming Saturday easing you into the comfort of dreamland.
