listen the fact is that a lot of poor people ARE bad with money. i have terrible impulse control around spending 5 dollars here and 10 dollars there and i know so many people around me who have this problem too. but its not "this persons bad with money, so theyre poor"; its "this persons poor, so theyre bad with money". i dont know when i'll be able to get a little treat or eat out or buy myself something that will make me happy again so i have to do it now. idon't know when i'll afford food again so i have to buy it now. i don't feel confident in the fact i'll ever have the cushioning to genuinely enjoy expendable income, so instead of saving and hoping (only to have my savings routinely wiped out for moving, or medical costs, or a car accident), i spend it now so i can enjoy life now.
i think if you see poor people ebegging constantly but two days ago saw them posting about a fancy coffee and a pastry, you need to stop viewing "spending a few dollars you maybe shouldnt" as something that requires the Punishment of "can't pay the fucking bills". some of us, just like, need to feel like we have some kind of normalcy in our lives because being poor fucking sucks
Today I’m lending my dad space in my storage unit, in my building. Is small, and I live with two other peolple. I told him he could use some space. He wants to use it all, with out asking, without telling me. Just casually bringing it all. I wont let him, but he wont like it. Also, he is not going to say anything about it. Very much in character.

@anonymous-red-506 you asked me about my sandwich and I made a whole post in response to your ask and then tumblr ate it and never posted it! So here is your sandwich ask response!
I made chicken parm with vodka sauce on focaccia with caesar salad on top, and it was fantastic. I griddled the bread in a garlic and herb butter for a little extra somethin'somethin. Some photos for you, and for food photo anon for whom I have been slacking. I also haven't been making anything that good at home! I'm trying out a new pasta dish today. If it's cool, I'll show it to you!

She was sloppy and messy and had to be picked up with two hands and eaten completely and never put back down til the end, but was just delicious. I make caesar with preserved lemon instead of anchovy because I get sick when I eat fish, so the caesar is super bright, almost tart, and pops real nice against heavy sauces like vodka sauce.

It was - get rid of Finnick, people tell him too much and like him too much
It was - get rid of Mags (she’ll volunteer to save anyone), she’s always been too much of a rebel and cares more about the tributes than the games (i.e. hiding Finnick from cameras)
It was - get rid of Beetee, we’re finally done with him (I want to know why he’s suddenly disposable though). But let’s make it as awful as possible and remind him every day what his son was feeling in his own last days
It was - get rid of Wiress (and also show the world what she’s become) because she never should have won (and we’ll show people what happens when you think you’re smarter than the Capitol)
It was - get rid of Johanna Mason, we killed everyone she loved and it didn’t break her enough so now we can’t control her
And of course, it was - get rid of those rebels from 12
But it wasn’t just punishment for Katniss. She had no idea how influential and volatile of a group they were.
Honestly, I feel like the 3rd Quell might have actually worked if the Capitol hadn’t decided to just send all the most rebellious and threatening victors into them. You can’t put 10+ people who rebelled in their own games back into an arena (and this time they’re all together) and expect it to go well for you???

my 10 holy grail pieces of writing advice for beginners
from an indie author who's published 4 books and written 20+, as well as 400k in fanfiction (who is also a professional beta reader who encounters the same issues in my clients' books over and over)
show don't tell is every bit as important as they say it is, no matter how sick you are of hearing about it. "the floor shifted beneath her feet" hits harder than "she felt sick with shock."
no head hopping. if you want to change pov mid scene, put a scene break. you can change it multiple times in the same scene! just put a break so your readers know you've changed pov.
if you have to infodump, do it through dialogue instead of exposition. your reader will feel like they're learning alongside the character, and it will flow naturally into your story.
never open your book with an exposition dump. instead, your opening scene should drop into the heart of the action with little to no context. raise questions to the reader and sprinkle in the answers bit by bit. let your reader discover the context slowly instead of holding their hand from the start. trust your reader; donn't overexplain the details. this is how you create a perfect hook.
every chapter should end on a cliffhanger. doesn't have to be major, can be as simple as ending a chapter mid conversation and picking it up immediately on the next one. tease your reader and make them need to turn the page.
every scene should subvert the character's expectations, as big as a plot twist or as small as a conversation having a surprising outcome. scenes that meet the character's expectations, such as a boring supply run, should be summarized.
arrive late and leave early to every scene. if you're character's at a party, open with them mid conversation instead of describing how they got dressed, left their house, arrived at the party, (because those things don't subvert their expectations). and when you're done with the reason for the scene is there, i.e. an important conversation, end it. once you've shown what you needed to show, get out, instead of describing your character commuting home (because it doesn't subvert expectations!)
epithets are the devil. "the blond man smiled--" you've lost me. use their name. use it often. don't be afraid of it. the reader won't get tired of it. it will serve you far better than epithets, especially if you have two people of the same pronouns interacting.
your character should always be working towards a goal, internal or external (i.e learning to love themself/killing the villain.) try to establish that goal as soon as possible in the reader's mind. the goal can change, the goal can evolve. as long as the reader knows the character isn't floating aimlessly through the world around them with no agency and no desire. that gets boring fast.
plan scenes that you know you'll have fun writing, instead of scenes that might seem cool in your head but you know you'll loathe every second of. besides the fact that your top priority in writing should be writing for only yourself and having fun, if you're just dragging through a scene you really hate, the scene will suffer for it, and readers can tell. the scenes i get the most praise on are always the scenes i had the most fun writing. an ideal outline shouldn't have parts that make you groan to look at. you'll thank yourself later.

Mi perro es adorable. Tiene pinta de cachorro. Se acurruca siempre que puede. Tiene las patas muy cortitas. Da besitos. Se porta bien. En la casa.
Por que afuera casi mata a un perro, y de paso me mata a mi del susto. Me puse a divagar un segundo. Apareció un perro de la nada y tiro tan fuerte que rompió la correa y me quemó los dedos con el roce. Apenas lo logre agarrar me puse a llorar a mares, el pobre dueño me trato tan bien!!! Llore tanto y tanto rato que quede relajaita pal el resto del día. Nada que como una buena lloraita.

Vengo de una familia grande, de muchos hermanos/as, por lo que siempre hubo que luchar por la comida.
Se daban dinámicas muy animales. Chistosas, en todo caso.
Por ejemplo, si había una bandeja con panes con mantequilla, y resulta que sobraban algunos, la primera persona que termina los suyos puede sacar de los que quedan. Eso llevaba a tragar de forma dolorosa o a juegos sucios, como tomar un pan y la pasarle la lengua por debajo. A meterle un dedo en el centro. A mojarlo para que nadie mas lo quiera. La cosa era ganar, incluso si el pan quedaba malo.
