"I'm surprised when you kiss me"
Synopsis: Nico and Thomas's first date couldn't have gone better in Thomas's opinion.
Warning: Swearing, Spoilers for Flirting with Social Anxiety, gay-mess Thomas.
...
“Which reminds me; Sanders, you’ve been holding out on me!” Nico pointed his fry at Thomas, smirking accusingly.
The two were on their first date, and everything had been going real smooth, and Janus would call him out if Thomas denied how hard he was falling.
“Oh?” Thomas smiled and arched his brows. “Really?”
(“Shit , holy shit, what did we do? Oh God, what did we do?”)
(“Relax emo, he's teasing. We're fine!” Roman reassured.)
“When you said you made YouTube videos for a living, I didn’t think you had about 3 million subscribers!” Nico exclaimed, and Thomas could’ve sworn he saw his date's pupils dilate immensely.
(“Try not to flex, Thomas.” Janus smirked, clearly teasing Roman.)
(“Oh you know he won’t!” Patton nudged the snake side. Janus let out a hearty chuckle.)
“Well, I…” Thomas stammered, finding himself in a tizzy trying to figure out how to respond to that.
(“Virgil!” Roman scolded.)
(“Here, allow me.” Logan suggested, scooting closer to Roman.”)
“It didn’t really matter how big my subscription count was, I love each and everyone of my viewers and every single letter on the comments.” Thomas scratched the back of his head looking down on his burger.
(“Aww, Logan!” Patton and Roman cooed as Virgil and Janus smirked warmly. Logan denied the claims on his red meta-physical face.)
Nico smiled at Thomas, causing a flood of euphoria to come crashing down on him.
“Well, that's really sweet.” Nico said, placing his hand on Thomas’s.
He could hear the distinct screams of Patton and Roman in his head.
“Yeah, they mean a ton to me.” Thomas answered with a very sweet sigh.
There was silence between them for a while, but Thomas knew Nico had something to say, so they waited.
(“Shit, did we do something wrong? Fuck, is he mad?”)
(“Virgil, it's quite unlikely that he's mad at Thomas for not mentioning his subscriber count.”)
(“But what if he is?”)
(“Let's ask him shall we?” Janus said, scooting beside Roman.)
“What is it?” Thomas asked, biting his lower lip.
Nico looked him in the eyes, almost embarrassed. He mirrored Thomas' lip bite and intertwined his hand with Thomas’s own.
“Is this okay?” Nico asked.
Thomas gave up on trying to hide his smile hours ago. “Absolutely.” He echoed Janus’s words
(“This is… actually going great.” Janus remarked. Sarcasm and cynicism were absent from his statement.)
Nico exhaled. “Can I ask you something?”
(“Can I panic now?” Virgil asked, fingernails in between his lips.)
“Anything.” Roman made Thomas say.
Nico pursed his lips. “About Sanders Sides.”
Thomas could hear the simultaneous screams in his head, short-circuited by his date’s question.
“Oh jeez! Sorry, you don’t have to answer that if you don’t want to.” Nico stammered, redder than Roman's sashn fearing that he might have crossed a line.
“No, it’s fine!” Thomas said under Virgil’s influence.
(All the sides looked at their anxiety in awe.)
“The sides, well, they’re, sorta like, I guess,” Thomas stammered as Virgil looked to Roman and Janus for help.
“Sanders Sides is kind of my way of discussing my emotional issues and mental turmoil in a light, sort-of gentle way.”
(“Thanks, Logan.” Virgil relaxed a bit.)
“Are they…” Nico prompted, motioning to Thomas's head.
“Yeah, they are.” Thomas replied sheepishly.
“Cool…” Nico said breathlessly. “I love them.” Nico leaned in to pressed a kiss on Thomas’s lips.
Thomas let out a dignified squeak which Nico laughed at. He buried his face in his hands, hiding his embarrassment from his endeared datemate.
(“FIRST DATE AND WE ALREADY GOT A KISS!” Roman yelled. Virgil froze right where he sat. Patton got up and began running around the room.)
(“He said, the L-word…” Virgil muttered, causing everyone to stop. )
The screams in his head made Thomas flinch.
…
“Can I please sleep now?” Thomas groaned.
“Hun, his smile was so perfect, how did you get so lucky?” Remy sat at the foot of his bed legs crossed and day(night) dreaming.
Thomas buried his face in his pillow with a groan.
“And his voice! It was so dreamy! Boy, you can not let go of him!”
“Let me sleep! It's 2 am!”
Remy was right. Thomas just can’t let a boy like Nico go.

“Logan.”
There was complete silence.
“Logaaaan.”
Still no response.
“Looooooogaaaaaan!”
There was a sigh. “What, Virgil?”
“I’m bored.”
Logan glanced up from his book to look at Virgil who was laying on his back with his head dangling off the bed.
“Read one of the books I gave you.” he said, turning back to his own, shaking his head.
Virgil huffed and grabbed one of the books, still hanging upside down as he opened it and tried to read it.
Logan was completely absorbed in his own book, not really noticing as Virgil slowly began to slide off the bed.
Virgil had a silent five second panic as he felt himself slipping and found himself stuck, his legs on the bed while he kept himself from falling completely with his hands.
He was in an odd sort of bridge position and his arms quickly began to tire from holding himself up.
He sent a look at Logan, debating whether or not to say something but decided against it, he didn’t think he could stand the embarrassment of having to ask Logan to help him.
He slipped further off the end and managed to gently lower himself to the floor without hurting himself or making a loud noise.
When he stood up though he felt really light-headed from where all the blood had rushed to his head.
He sat himself on Logans bed again, criss-cross applesauce style.
He picked up his book and tried to focus on the words but his bored mind just wouldn’t.
Logan was still oblivious to everything and Virgil frowned slightly as he observed the logical trait.
He had his head tilted ever so slightly as he read, his lips parted just enough for the tip of his tongue to poke out and his eyes darted left and right as he took in whatever it was he was reading.
Virgil tried to look back at his book but he was just so over it.
He put the book down and looked over at Logan again, smirking as a thought suddenly popped into his head.
“Logan?” he asked, holding back a small snort as Logan seemed to jump at his voice.
“huh? Oh, what is it Virgil?” Logan asked, having momentarily forgotten the anxious trait was present.
“Don’t you think reading is weird?”
“Weird? How do you mean?” Logan looked at Virgil in confusion.
Virgil pointed at the book in Logans hands. “Well books are basically dead trees, right?”
“I suppose they can be seen as such, yes.” Logan said, unsure where Virgil was going with this.
“So you basically just sat there for ages staring at a dead tree and hullucinating because that’s what reading is. You just think up weird sounds and images in your head.”
Logan stared at Virgil, his mouth open in shock as he realised he had no response.
After several minutes of Logan not responding Virgil felt a bit concerned.
“Logan? Are you OK?” he asked and received a distressed noise in response.
Virgil sighed and got up, going to the door and calling out down the corridor “Patton! I broke Logan!”
There was a few seconds of silence before Patton appeared, looking at Logan and then at Virgil with a groan.
“Again Virgil? This is the third time this week.”
“I couldn’t help it! I was bored and I was trying to read the book he gave me but I ended up…. Breaking him.” Virgil muttered, looking at the floor.
Patton sighed “From now on if you’re bored you’re not allowed to go to Logan. You come to either me or Roman.”
Virgil pouted slightly. “Fiiiine.”
Patton focused on snapping Logan out of his shocked state and Virgil suddenly felt the urge to listen to his music.
He walked out of the room quietly, feeling kind of guilty about breaking Logan but there was something good that had come out of it.
Virgil was no longer bored.

(I haven’t yet decided how many parts this will be as it’s an ongoing one. I’m midway through writing the fourth part and there’s a possibility of there being a fifth one as well)
virgil rly saw roman about to give up and prepared to fight god
Summary: Virgil would do anything to keep his family safe. Even if it meant dying a little. Or, in his case, a lot.
Warnings: Temporary Death & swearing.
This was edited by @forever1show @lilcutedagger & @gaypowersunite ! Thanks, you guys!
Virgil would do anything to keep his family safe.
Even before he was accepted, he would’ve cut off all of his limbs if it meant that the Light Sides and Thomas didn’t get hurt. He would’ve jumped off of a cliff into a sea of lava if it meant they all remained untouched. He protected them, it was his one and only job.
It definitely got easier when he was accepted though. He didn’t have to watch for threats from the sidelines anymore. He could go down into the common rooms without getting suspicious looks from Roman and Logan or Patton trying to get him to open up about where he was all the time or what his name was.
He wasn’t Anxiety anymore. He was Virgil, Thomas’ Anxieties yeah, but he wasn’t the villain. He was part of the family. He could protect his family without them thinking he was evil incarnate.
But, sometimes protecting his family meant that he got hurt. Sometimes, it meant that he died for a little bit.
None of the Sides could actually die. They weren’t people, they were constructs of Thomas’ mind, personality, and instincts. Yes, they could “die”, but they would always come back eventually.
To Virgil’s knowledge, none of the other Light Sides had ever died. He would’ve known if any of the Dark Sides had so much as gotten near the Light Sides living area. He was sure that the others knew that they could come back, but never gone through that process themselves.
Virgil’s death count had gotten so long that he had long forgotten the actual number.
He did remember the first time he died. It had been when Thomas was fourteen. Virgil had never fit in anywhere, with the other Light Sides or the Dark Sides. At the time, his and Roman’s relationship was just short of hate on both sides. Their jobs just clashed the most and it led to so many fights.
Yet, when Virgil had found Malice trying to get into Roman’s room with a knife, he didn’t hesitate to tackle him to the ground and sink the two of them into the subconscious.
It ended with Malice running off to hide in his room and Virgil gasping for breath and coughing up blood. The knife that Malice had tried to stick into Roman was stuck in Virgil’s stomach. He cried ugly tears, screaming for the others to save him. He wasn’t ready to die. He needed to be there to protect Thomas.
He did die that day. He bled out in the subconscious and, after hours of crying and trying to sink out only to fail, everything faded to black.
Death hadn’t been like he expected. He felt like every single speck of him was torn apart and he had to stitch every part of his body and his mind back together. It hurt more than anything he had had ever felt in his life. It was his longest time regenerating ever. By the time he had woken up in his room, it had been two weeks since Malice had killed him. He had stumbled out of his room to find Roman in the commons. Roman had rolled his eyes and asked where the hell he’d been for so long. Virgil just stared at him, taking him in. Malice hadn’t touched him.
After that, death didn’t seem so terrible if it meant that the others never knew how it felt.
He learnt how to sense if the Dark Sides came too close to Virgil and the others’ living area, though he never learnt how they got in. When they did get in, he would immediately confront them and fight if necessary.
Needless to say, he died a lot in those first few years.
But, he got better. He learned how to dodge and how to scare the Dark Sides away. He got better at sinking into the subconscious faster while restraining a struggling Dark Side. He learned how to strike first and how to strike fast. He never landed a hit good enough to kill them, but he didn’t need to kill them. He just needed to make sure that he hit them enough that they couldn’t continue on with whatever they intended.
The process of coming back to life never got easier though. It always hurt the same amount that it did the first time. But, it was worth it.
As long as Logan, Roman, and Patton remained safe, it would always be worth it.
