I have a lot of respect for both DMs. But, ngl I get salty when Matt denies a nat 20 depending on the type of check/save. Whereas Brennan goes above and beyond to reward nat 20s (which makes sense for short episodic campaigns that thrive on big swings) with the understanding that nat 1 will be just as devastating. 

i've been listening to critical role and so far the main difference between that and d20 is that on a nat 20 matt will be like you succeed :) with some extra flavor whereas brennan will drop to his knees and slit his own throat if the player asked

The Walk

“It’s time to go…”

“I don’t want to.”

Resolute. Mastering whatever bravery he has left facing the great unknown.

He’s suddenly very small my friend, terrified.

That’s odd. He’s never been afraid till now. What a great mystery he is.

“You know we must walk beyond.”

The soul shifts, shimmers. I feel it, he wants to fight me, to reclaim what’s his.

“You are not winning this fight.”

One has to warn.

“I want to…I-” he stammers, trying to acknowledge what he has lost.

“I know…it hurts at first but it will get better. I promise.”

“I don’t want to go.”

I should be angry with him. It was another soul that should have crossed today. But he always had a knack of foiling my plans, this man who was my shadow.

“It will be quite alright my friend. We’ll walk together. I’ll stay with you.”

I owe him that much. It is a terrible thing, for one to meet me so young. He’s been seeing me over and over again, ever since he was a child.

After all, it’s fair. A soul for a soul.

He looks at me. Looks back at the inferno he left behind. The empty building beyond.

He smiles.

We walk.

Mathematician. Leader. Heroine. Remembering Hidden Figure Katherine Johnson

Tonight, count the stars and remember a trailblazer. 

We’re saddened by the passing of celebrated #HiddenFigures mathematician Katherine Johnson. She passed away at 101 years old. 

An America hero, Johnson’s legacy of excellence broke down racial and social barriers while helping get our space agency off the ground.

Once a “human computer”, she famously calculated the flight trajectory for Alan Shepard, the first American in space.

And when we began to use electronic computers for calculations, astronaut John Glenn said that he’d trust the computers only after Johnson personally checked the math.

As a girl, Katherine Johnson counted everything. As a mathematician, her calculations proved critical to our early successes in space travel.

With slide rules and pencils, Katherine Johnson’s brilliant mind helped launch our nation into space. No longer a Hidden Figure, her bravery and commitment to excellence leaves an eternal legacy for us all.

“We will always have STEM with us. Some things will drop out of the public eye and will go away, but there will always be science, engineering and technology. And there will always, always be mathematics.” - Katherine Johnson 1918 -2020

Daredevil Vol 6 5: “Know Fear, Part 5”

I doubt that Trent will mess with Yussa for a number of reasons;

1) The murder would not be easy to hide (many bystanders that watched the chase and would his death change the outward structure of the tower?).

2) Killing a powerful figure in of an allied nation is not excusable even if said figure has a complicated relationship with local politics.

3) Killing Yussa, the Archmage that mentored Oremid Hass (a fellow Cerberus Assembly leader) would provide more evidence to prosecute Trent from both internal and external investigations.

4) Yussa is member of the Arcana Pansophical, which just in general would be stupid of Trent to mess with (not even including the attention it would draw from Allura and her Whitestone allies).

5) And Trent is the Archmage of Civil Influence, so his job title and importance is only supported by the public image of peaceful civility Trent must maintain for the Assembly. He’s very unlikely to jeopardize his own public influence and governmental power for a mercenary chase.

Is no one else concerned about the fact that they left Yussa defenseless and in a trance alone with Trent and his assassins???? Who may take the opportunity to take out a potential enemy and blame it on the people who are already being blamed for Vess's death???
