Saint as a furby..?
I usually post art at about 5 am (in my timezone), but ehh, I'll post this a bit earlier.
i think about this panel sometimes. me when gorrister is nice for once in his pathetic life and shows basic kindness towards someone in the group
something about gorrister letting benny grab onto his shirt so he can follow along ): they make me sick, because despite everything— the fighting and the torture, they're friends.
they all care about one another and will help in anyway they can. they're all just traumatized and miserable, they take that out on each other but they do love one another in their own, weird fucked up way.
GLaDOS is not Chells mom, she’s not LIKE a mom to Chell, I swear to god this is the dumbest fucking theory/headcanon ever bc it literally just disregards EVERYTHING Chell and GLaDOS went through together and their development.
GLaDOS hated Chell because she was a human and humans made her and hurt her and even if she didn’t have her memories of Caroline she hated them for what they did to her as GLaDOS.
In portal 2 GLaDOS slowly realizes how much they have in common and how their goals are similar.
GLaDOS wants to test, she wants control, she wants to do what she wants. She’s never had that freedom. When she was alive she worked for a male majority company that took advantage of her and worked under a man who was like the fucking embodiment of evil. She admired him and he betrayed her and took away her autonomy and he didn’t care at all. When she was woken up as GLaDOS the scientists attached tumors to her to try to make her behave so that they could control her. Everyone was always trying to control her.
Chell wants to be free to live her life the way that she wants to, no matter how uncertain or how dangerous, all she wants is to live on her own terms. She’s been tested on like an animal by an omnipotent murderous computer since she woke up, forced to do intense laborious activities with no break. Then she’s betrayed by the only motherfucker that didn’t try to kill her. She’s betrayed by a man, who tries to take away her autonomy for the sake of self fulfillment (sounds familiar).
Throughout the game GLaDOS realizes this and by the end she understands that by forcing Chell to stay with her and test she’s doing the exact same thing as her oppressors. They’re both trapped in the facility, forced to carry out tasks against their will. They both just want to be free.
So GLaDOS lies about Caroline being deleted and let’s Chell go. Even if it means she’ll still be trapped, and now alone in her suffering. She gives Chell the chance she’s never had despite her own feelings.
Also it’s mega, incredibly queercoded like the entire time. All of the songs are mega gay. ALL of them.
Okay sorry if this literally made 0 sense I just woke up okay byeeee
i know i complain about this particular fandom space a whole lot but the fact that like half of the I have no mouth and I must scream fandom dumbed AM's torture down to simply senseless violence instead of active violation of the survivors bodily autonomy is kind of maddening,,
he turned benny into a fucking APE. enlarged his genitalia to humiliate him for being GAY, and then made him STRAIGHT? ellens entire situation ALONE??? not to mention just. the implications of AM "leaving her alone" and "giving her pleasure." ted saying AM had touched him in every way he had ever been touched. I know that line is so funny haha gay to most of you but just. think about what that implies for half a second
THIS ??? its like. people claim to understand how truly awful this. THING is. and then. dont actually. the nature of this guy is thorough and attentive, playful even with the survivors nervous systems and bodies. jesus christ even the people who WANT to be tortured by this guy dont even understand the nature of his torture. no he would not just cut you up and electrocute you or whip you bdsm style. do you know how quickly that would get old for him,,,
The fact that Ted is the only character that gets a transportation from AM where it has electric tentacles, is very, very questionable.🤨
He who lived so others could die
feeling the feels
WAS THAT THE BITE OF BENNY?!
Happy pride month to crusty twinks and homicidal robots 🤤🤤

AM, out of any of the fanmade AM humanoid forms, which one would you choose to be in? :3

Wow I did not expect this take this long but uh I drew my favorite fucked up (and or evil) fictional robots/ai as Iterators weeeeeeee!!! I also doodled the protags of those medias as good ol slugs (minus Miles and Madeline) there’s some random concept doodles of em all under da cut
Anyways who would have the worst beef with Five Pebbles
(Click for better quality, Tumblr is holding the brushes I use at gunpoint)
Shout out to robots that exist as part of a massive facility. Gotta be one of my favourite genders.
headcanon that ships typically have multiple go-4s to best help the crew,,,,,additional headcanon that the axiom only has one go-4 unit because the others mysteriously disappeared,,,,,,,
Shitpost from our partner @pictured-as-perfect. (He does not like posting on Tumblr, so I offered to do it for him.)
I know this is the most unpopular opinion in the world when it comes to the lost gem Wall-E, BUT I think everyone is wrong about Auto.
Specifically, I don’t think he was a blind dumb machine mindlessly following his programming. In fact, I think the very reason he acted the way he did is because he was self-aware and had developed some bad vices over time. If he was a mindless machine who only did as his programming and superiors told him to, he would have obeyed the Captain’s orders to return to Earth after seeing it was habitable again. I think he knew what he was doing was morally wrong, but he didn’t care. Auto is capable of feeling emotions like frustration and even fear which are clearly shown during his face off with the Captain. Moreover, I think Auto was aware that if the humans returned to Earth, he would not only lose his power over humans, but also over machine. Plus, he would become obsolete because all the humans would leave the Axiom ship which is the one ability he doesn’t have.
In other words, I think Auto was very aware that HE was the one who had all the power and didn’t want to give it up. I think over the 700 years, being “king” got to his head and corrupted him to the point where he stopped caring about humanity and was more concerned with staying in power. People forget that personhood doesn’t mean sainthood. In other words, Auto can serve as a cautionary tale that power can corrupt anyone.
WALL-E tweets I made out of boredom. Please know none of these are to be taken seriously
I think the fact that this image exists now is not good maybe
I drew some sillies :3 (I’m hyperfixated on WALL•E right now if you couldn’t tell XP)
The anti-ai filter I used is below!! Artists, always remember to protect your art from being stolen by ai, no matter how unpopular you are 🙏🙏
If you've seen WALL-E, I'd be extremely curious for your thoughts if you haven't already shared them. Actually, I have a few movies I'd love your opinion on, but I'm not gonna keep ya all day. Thank you for your content! :)
I love WALL-E. It's a cool idea, that the whole movie is about what it means to be human, but from the perspective of a robot.
I think it's very straightforward, and there's not a lot of stuff to analyze, which is good! He's this robot that's "developed a personality" but what he's really becoming is human.
And the movie is saying that being human is liking things, taking risks, being vulnerable, and most importantly taking care of things. As in, caring for things that need you. Even if it means you don't survive or get to be as comfortable.
WALL-E preserves the stuff he has an interest in instead of junking it, but remember, he takes care of that little cockroach. He carefully organizes all his things. He fixes what's broken. That's what humans were placed on Earth to do: have dominion over it. Take care of it. Cultivate the land, order the animals.
And instead we use it all to make ourselves more comfortable.
Not WALL-E, though! And he teaches that to everybody else.
The only things I struggle with, with WALL-E, are the repeated "Directive" themes. Like, what you're made for isn't what you should be. You could say WALL-E is all about being what makes you happy.
I disagree with that. That worldview is no good. What makes you happy changes from moment to moment, and it usually comes at the expense of other people and what you, yourself, need to be good and healthy. But you could argue that that's how the humans in WALL-E got to be blobs in chairs that abandon their planet, so my beef with those themes aren't very strong.
You could just argue that the narrative is saying, WALL-E, who was created to put waste in its proper place, is still doing that. He's just doing it in a deeper, better, more correct way than all the other robots. He puts waste in its proper place, but by doing that, he also protects the things that are worthwhile and shouldn't be wasted.
And in that same train of thought, EVE is so focused on collecting and delivering the one sign of life that makes Earth worth living for--that's her directive. But it turns out, WALL-E is the one sign of life that makes Earth worth living for, because of the example he sets. That example of finding joy in hard work and protecting things that are worth protecting.
I also think, if WALL-E were released right now, in 2024, it would not be well-liked or accepted. Because people would get their feathers ruffled by the idea that we're all headed toward being blobs who can't see past our own comfort. And they'd accuse the movie of "body shaming," that kind of junk. Then again, the same people who are worried about that are also worried about that great big topic we call "the environment," and WALL-E cleverly set itself up to be championing "the environment," so maybe it would've shielded itself. Either way, I think the movie was very brave to say, "yeah, hey, we're super lazy and self-satisfying and obsessed with our own comfort, and this is the dystopia it could lead us to."
And MO is my favorite.
And love, too. Anyway. Yes, I love WALL-E! And hey! Ask me about any movies you want! I don't get that many of these questions, and I really like thinking them through and trying to verbalize them, so please do! And thank you for this question.
He fell first. She fell harder.
Wall-E (the character) is a great demonstration of how being curious about the world echoes our level of care for it. And that caring can quite literally course-correct humanity His playful fascination with what humans left behind, his ability to find "new" on a dormant planet of waste refuse-- he continues to care and be amazed by and change things in a world that has not effectively changed for about 700 years. Wall-E commemorates artifacts of life by treasuring them on their own special shelves in his home. He lovingly makes sure The Plant is secured in a way that won't crush it as he's going home. He accidentally runs over his cockroach and worries about it. He tries to make an inactive Eve comfortable at his expense, not knowing when or if she will ever wake up again.
Wall-E has such an impact on Eve and other passengers on the Axiom because he invites them to care about small interactions they took for granted. They make meaningful connections and changes in their own directive because-- simply by being interested by them and what they're doing-- he offers a new perspective of looking at themselves. (Remember when he gives the elevator robot that little wave and it's so taken with that gesture it starts to copy it? It was seen and acknowledged when its role has always been to punch numbers.)
The spark that Wall-E shared with Eve, I think, is not only symbolic of his love for Eve (though it is clear he loves Eve more than anyone). It was that care. It has to be that same care. Because if his little acts of wonder and determination inspired every other character to break from their programming, who's to say it can't overcome a factory reset?
Oh, and "curiosity" and "care" have the same etymological root, apparently
