Player Piano Debuts Tomb Raider 20 Year Celebration Medley

Revealed today on New York Comic Con’s Live Stage, Crystal Dynamics has collaborated with the talented team at Player Piano – comprised of Composer & Pianist Sonya Belousova and Director Tom Grey – to create a stunning melody encapsulating 20 years of Lara Croft’s global adventures and impact. 

Beginning with a reimagined take on Nathan McCree’s iconic Tomb Raider theme, the music builds into the haunting notes from Peter Connelly and Martin Iveson’s Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness soundtrack. Percussion swells as the global sounds of Tomb Raider: Legend from Troels Folmann layer in, culminating with Jason Grave’s grand tribute to Lara Croft’s transition from survivor to Tomb Raider from the 2013 release.  

“I had an incredible time composing and producing the music for Crystal Dynamics,” said Composer and Pianist Sonya Belousova. “My goal was to reflect the spirit and the journey of the Tomb Raider franchise by travelling all the way from the intimate solo piano moments through the dark romantic lush strings to the epicness of the whole symphony orchestra.” 

“We wanted to capture the spirit of adventure found in the Tomb Raider series and I figured that there would be no better way than to take our piano on its own escapade to the desert, the forests, and in the center of a storm” elaborated Director Tom Grey. “We certainly had a lot of fun…I can’t say the same for the piano.”

As a treat for our fans, we’ve made the 20 Year Celebration Medley available for free to download on SoundCloud, in addition to Player Piano’s sheet music should fans wish to play it at home.
