Lady in red
At the morning Amelia is sitting in the kitchen and drinking her coffee. Itâs black and bitter, so she adds balsam. Not too much, just a couple of drops. Maybe a little more but not more than usual. She sips her drink, quiet and calm. A few precious moments of peace sheâll miss all day. Air smells bitter, just like her coffee, and also a bit rotten. Itâs fall.
The skyline is painted red, yellow and purple, sunlight casts golden flares on the windows. It makes her eyes hurt a little. Not more than usual.
The fox leaves her house, slowly slipping in her officer Holmes persona, cold and relentless like nature around her. Officer Holmes doesnât stop, doesnât hesitate, sheâs watching, listening, investigating and then she acts, quick and clean. Sheâs not afraid to get herself in danger. Sheâs not afraid of blood.
But Amelia is.
Amelia fears, shivers and breaks every time she sees blood, her ears crack and ache with every shot, her paws feel so so heavy when they raise up a gun. She doesnât even realize at first that one of the bullets hit her. But when shootout is over, officer Holmes bursts and underneath this shell appears hot, pulsating, wet flesh of Amelia. Itâs her who bleeds all over her already red fur, not the hero of the day. Shot didnât get to her bones, but muscles burn with pain, and blood just keeps pumping making her shirt red too. âTalk about one splash of colourâ the fox thinks tiredly.
When tight stitches cover the wound, she exhales. Itâs almost like at the morning, but instead of soft rustle of leaves thereâs sharp buzzing of the lamp. It makes her skull itch. Soon some of her colleges come in, they ask how she doing, wish her to heal fast. They congratulate officer Holmes, she did great they say. Officer Holmes is grateful and proud. Amelia feels lonely. Maybe a little more than usual.
A few hours pass when suddenly she hears a knock at the door. It crack the silence and cracks her loneliness. Itâs Katie.
- Itâs me, - she says.
- Itâs you, - Amelia smiles weakly.
Katie apologizes for making her wait for so long, gives her homemade Toad in the hole, inspects her wound. Bobcatâs paws are warm and her touch is gentle. It rebuilds Amelia piece by piece, quiet and calm. They drink coffee together, and thereâs no balsam in the hospital, only cheap and plastic cream. But Katie is smiling back at her and jokes and laughs and the tips of her ears shake a little, so it tastes better than what Amelia had at the morning. The visitor gives fox a painting, clumsy scribble from her kid. It shows an animal, splash of red colour, crooked but happy. Little Amelia replica eats the biggest cupcake ever made. Katie says, they really had some at home but David got so scared and worried for auntie Mia, he ate it all. Itâs okay. None of them are mad.
And then itâs unexpectedly so late already. Amelia wants to stay up, but she knows itâll slow her healing and Katie will bite off her ears for this. She also knows David needs his mom. They share goodbye and then last it a bit longer.
- Pass David from me, - the fox asks, ruffling otherâs fur.
- And you take it from me, - Katie grins coyly before giving her quick peck on the cheek.
The light still buzz even louder in now asleep and quiet hospital but it doesnât bother Amelia anymore. Tossing in bed, fox can feel herself turning red.
Completely unrelated to the sketch but since Amelia is inspired by Sherlock and Sherlock is forever an asexual icon in my heart, I like to think of Amelia and Katie as ace4ace.

@meandtheyeehaws you sounded tired, and I wanted to tryout FIzzaroli, so I accidentally made another gift.
Sweet dreams, you two train wrecks.

Far from my best work, but here you go @phoenix-the-mistfit-fire-bird
This woman needs a break.
(Also I know she looks way older than 35, but she's an alcoholic, stressed out 24/7, don't know what a bed looks like and possibly smoking unhealthy amounts, what did you expect. )
Been tryin to figure out how to draw this damn fox, realised she needs bushy eyebrows.

In addition, a bunch of sketches in varying degrees of freshness with the Madoka OCs. Unfortunately, I don't have the opportunity to re-photograph some of them, but I tried to edit it more or less.
Actually, all of this wasn't planned for posting, I was persuaded, so there are a lot of mistakes here, but dang it.
Probably, since I'm throwing it in, I should say a few words about who they are. I won't go into Madoka's lore here, but there are some spoilers.
The first girl, Jakki, sold her soul to talk to someone. In general, it isn't surprising, having been born as part of a sect that worships Kyubey, she spent her entire childhood memorizing mantras that the pleasures of ordinary people are not for her rank, and in general she cannot enjoy life, and communicate with people outside the sect either, because she lives only in order to die one fine day for the greater good. She made a contract, but didn't endured this for a long time, realized that she did not want to die for the sake of energy economics and turned into a witch. Now Jakki is convinced that she is in her own personal Hell and deserves all her torment.
The second girl, Kimiko, also doesn't have the best relationship with the Incubators. She made a contract back in the days when samurai were relevant, but has not yet turned because her wish included the inability to harm people, which means that becoming a witch is impossible for her. Instead, she turns into a doppel, and this cleans her.
Kimiko is a girl with very weak magical potential, who compensates for this by not shying away from using brute physical force, wearing armor and devoting all her time to improving her skills and finding new ways to use her abilities. Over the years, she has become skilled at killing witches and has become a problem for Kyubey, since she cleaned out important members of their energy pyramid too quickly. Now they periodically persuade other girls to try to hunt her.
The hood lady - Tsukimi, is just one of these hunters. She's not very good at long-range combat, but is excellent at tracking and spying. A fairly short time after concluding her contract, she decided to simply rob other girls rather than go into battle herself, and by doing so she not only takes away precious resources, but also brings the loss of faith in others closer, so PG&E Corporation really likes her. Unfortunately, they didn't expect that Kimiko would be able to buy Tsukimi over to her side.
