The Gregaverse was created in part due to a joke made by our CEO when people kept drawing their aus together with theirs, eventually the server for the community quickly building was made on this day, 3 years ago and so much has happaned since!
Although the Blog itself didn't come to be until 2 years later, the community was still buzzing with amazing people. So much has happaned since and we in the Gregaverse are so happy that we got to share such amazing years with every single one of you!
We hope that, moving forward, we can create even more years of happy memories. Especially on this blog, where we've managed to have a much bigger reach with events made to keep the community active. We have plenty planned, and we can't wait to share it all with you!
So, with all that said...

I think people kinda miss the point of the whole possession thing. I think it was less towards Hunter’s arc and more towards Belos’s.
Think about it, Hunter is the only Grimwalker (that we know of) that got away, and we know damn well that Belos has issues when it comes to control. Back in season 2, when talking to the Collector, he said he wants to ‘deal with this one first’. Belos wants to end what he started with his latest Grimwalker. He always ends what he doesn’t like.
Point 2, Belos sees Grimwalkers as things, based on how he talks about them. Hell, even in TTT, while possessing Hunter, he says ‘I thought this one was another lost cause’. He refers to Hunter as ‘this one’. Belos doesn’t see his autonomy. Belos sees Hunter as a tool, something to control and use, and the possession tactic is a last ditch effort to get the last bit of use out of him.
Point 3, it wraps up Belos’s arc/story. It’s almost like a repeat of Caleb’s story (ironic, I know but that’s not the point). Belos finally had the opportunity to end it again with a Grimwalker that looked identical to Caleb and lived a life that paralleled Caleb’s. TTT and Hunter’s death showcases how Belos can’t change and keeps doing the same thing over and over (he’s just a metaphor for insanity at this point).
Point 4, that familial connection. What makes the possession hit so hard in my opinion is that connection. It adds depth that other cartoon possessions don’t really have. It serves to show more of that relationship and how much Hunter has grown to split away and fight for his own freedom (such as his speech before throwing the Titan blood). It showcases the slipping control Belos has. I think since that connection was there, it adds more layers to why the possession would happen and the total impact it all has.
So my overall thoughts? I think that the possession was less to add/wrap up Hunter’s arc and more to add context/wrap up Belos’s.
I do think that Hunter’s arc suffered but mostly from the lack of screen time. I think if he had the time to fully unpack the events, Hunter’s arc could’ve been good.
With all this being said, I am admittedly a sucker for the possession trope. I often look into it and the complexities and results it causes, so my judgement could be clouded by my own person bias (which I admit).
But anyways, these were just my thoughts. I’ve been wanting to say it since that’s how I viewed the whole thing and the discourse on whether it was a good choice or not had me thinking lol
This isn't a poll because I'd actually like to hear people's different arguments for why they think it was or wasn't a good choice for Hunter's overall arc.
I decided to draw for an AP English Project and this was the result! I was really proud and wanted to share it here (:
