AHHH one of my otps not gonna lie
sorry it's not as good as I hope it would be and sorry forni being late-
you need level 20 friendship to unlock that feature, kid
They call themselves… The Bad Batch.
Happy Bad Batch eve, everyone! <3
It takes a while (and it definitely catches the fire demon by surprise) but in the end, the three of them get to share each other’s company shamelessly.
Jin and Yin are still not too sure they want to be part of whatever chaos will happen once the new breaks out, but they sure as hell aren’t stopping it either.
And despite Mei’s instance, the Monkey King and the Shadow Demon only find out about their recent engagement through the other two immortal monkeys (who honestly just wanted to congratulate their friends and not get dragged into whatever Macaque is planning now with those murder eyes).
Also, thank you to my beloved ghost writer @kitkat1003 for writing the dialogues of the first two drawings

Continuation of this
MK sat in silence on top of one of the piles of treasure in Wukong’s treasure room as he watched the past members of the Journey to the West, along with the past Sun Wukong, asked the current Monkey King as many questions as possible. From where he was sitting, he could see his mentor’s nervous smile, the way he moved like he was desperately trying to avoid letting anything be known. Sun Wukong seemed to have noticed his future self’s strange behaviour too, if the way he was leaning against a wall and staring at him with a look of suspicion was any indication.
The others though...well MK wasn’t sure if they had noticed or not. There’d been a strange look between all of them when Monkey King had hurriedly shoved them past the remains of the small mural, but otherwise they’d simply been acting curious about the future, not about anything else.
MK let out a sigh, and then a tap on his back made him jump, standing up and turning around, summoning the staff.
He quickly lowered the weapon when he found a snickering Sun Wukong behind him.
“When did you- never mind.” MK didn’t need his mentors past self to boast about how he snuck up behind him. “What are you doing up here, instead of down there with everyone else?”
“Eh, I already know everything there is to know about myself.” Wukong said, putting his hands behind his back and summoning his cloud to relax upon. “There’s no new information here to be gained.”
MK glanced at the monkey’s laid back attitude then, looked back down at Monkey King’s stressed appearance, then back at Sun Wukong.
“Are you...sure?” MK asked, “I mean-”
“He looks stressed? Yeah, I know. Future me isn’t as subtle as he thinks he is.” Wukong hummed. “I know everything I need to just from how he looked when he saw us.”
MK paused.
He...has had a sneaking suspicion about Monkey King’s past for a while. And, if his past self, who it hadn’t happened to yet, had just found out about it-
Wukong didn’t look at MK, just stared up at the ceiling.
“They’re going to die, right?” He said, though it didn’t sound as much like the question it should be, and more like a resolute realization. “Something’s going to happen, and I’m going to loose them.”
MK didn’t answer. To be completely honest, he didn’t fully know the answer. He knew that the original members of the Journey To The West definitely weren’t around anymore, other than Monkey King that is. But he didn’t know when, where, or how that had happened. Monkey King had never brought it up, and MK knew better than to ask about something that upsetting unprompted.
Still though, Sun Wukong seemed to be taking this...better than anyone reasonably should be.
Sun Wukong was still staring up at the ceiling, avoiding eye contact.
...He seemed to be taking this well. The key word, of course, being “seemed”.
“Do you want a hug?” MK asked, and Sun Wukong’s cloud vanished from underneath of him, the others thankfully too distracted with asking Monkey King about how a laptop worked than to notice the loud clang as Sun Wukong smacked on top of the pile of treasure.
“Huh?!” Wukong quickly pulled himself back up, looking frazzled. “What- of course not- why would I-”
MK walked forwards and pulled the past version of his mentor into a hug. The monkey immediately tensed, hands twitching, but MK didn’t let go.
“K-kid, I don’t know why my future self decided to train you, but if you don’t let go of me in the next 5 seconds you’re gonna get your head cut off.” Wukong mumbled, and yet, despite his words, leaned a bit more into MK’s touch.
MK let it last for about a minute, just to silently prove the point that Wukong would not, in fact, injure him over a hug, before letting him go.
Sun Wukong rubbed his arm, glancing away from MK before glancing back down at his friends and his future self.
“...We should probably return to our own time soon, huh.” He said, watching the way Monkey King sidestepped away from Wujing, who had been moving to pat him on the back. “I imagine this...probably hurts my future self even more than he’s already letting on.”
“Probably.” MK agreed, “But don’t worry, me and Pigsy and the others will take care of it.”
Wukong hummed, scratching the side of his face a bit, before turning his back to MK.
“I’m..not sure how much of this I’m going to remember.” He said, “Or, how much he remembers. But, just in case I don’t remember it... thank you, MK.”
