Burning Matches Chapter 1 Of New Sights and Colors

       It was horrifying. It was dizzying. His mind spiraled in a million different directions, his body pressing against hard concrete as he desperately attempted to draw breath into his lungs, fingers scrabbling at the building, seeking something, anything that he could use to ground himself. He closed his eyes, tilting his head back, trying to focus on the roughness of the concrete that he could feel, ripping his gloves off in order to be that much closer, barely remembering to shove them in a pocket as he did so. He didn’t even notice the fact that his fingers had dug into the rough edges to the point where they were starting to bleed.

             His breath was still rattling in his lungs, his body still tense, but if he kept his eyelids closed, he could at least pretend that nothing had changed.

             What had happened?

             One moment, Peter had been swinging after some two-bit crooks, intent on putting them on ice after they had shot up one of the poorer localities…and in Hooverville, that was saying something. The next, he had somehow swung into something that squeezed him tighter than the Sandman, and hit harder, too. When he finally was spat out of whatever it was that caught him, he found himself here. This…this…

             Peter didn’t know what this was. He didn’t know what was surrounding him, had no idea what was happening, why he was here, where here even was! What was happening? Slowly, slowly, Peter peered out through his goggles, his eyes squinted as narrow as he could make them and still be able to see.

             It was like an icepick was driving into his skull.

             Peter closed his eyes again, heaving a breath in, and letting it whistle out.

what shared trauma do they have??

so okay along with the abandonment and guilt issues bc of venom (written here), they left the sewers and attempted to live in the city on their own, they end up coerced/kidnapped into tel-kars (god rest his canon soul) crime family, because do you know how much baby klyntar cost on the black market?? these things are killing machines and we found two just wandering around!

tel-kar pretty much treats them like shit and like tools, forcing them into dangerous situations for heists and shit, and does a bunch of fucked up shit to them like throwing red into a soundproof metal room w no light for a week as punishment for misbehaving and its dark in there like the sewer and she reverts to her feral goo form… and then he makes sleeper think that he’ll let her out if sleeper does everything he tells him to perfectly, like, stand in a corner for 12 hours and dont move a muscle, and now sleeper is a perfectionist and red is afraid of the dark, amongst even more emotional and verbal abuse into their adulthood

How did Tel-Kar come to be Sleeper's butler?

ok so after all this stuff

sleeper and red are adults now and already :/ at tel-kar but he is foolishly very arrogant and they are, in a way, emotionally dependent on him like youll see in many abusive relationships, but the last straw is when he puts a hit out on venom

the vigilante venom has been a thorn in our side for too long! tel-kar says. sleeper freezes. red says, good riddance.

but no way is sleeper going to let anyone kill his father(s). him and red swiftly and violently stage a coup, red mostly just for sleeper’s sake and out of no love for her father(s). P much, they kill everyone loyal to him, cut out his tongue. sleeper gets off some sort of one-liner. some repeat of some crap thing tel kar used to say to insult them, its super badass but i cant remember what it was. chain him up in the basement and torture him for at least a year. after THAT and with some of sleeper’s pheromone shit hes a bit more compliant, and the butler thing is purely his punishment of humiliation, and they throw trash at him constantly and sleeper makes him stand and stare into the sun and act like a footstool and all manner of other crap like he used to do to them

tel-kar occasionally attempts to murder sleeper, but the shit they put him through after one of those attempts is just not worth it so he’s just kind of begrudgingly accepting of his lot in life at this point 😂

tel kar also functions as a body guard bc “im the only one allowed to kill you” trope

Peter shuffled out of his bedroom to make coffee.

He froze, staring at the half dozen symbiotes huddled together on his living room carpet.

The symbiotes stared back. A hulking green-and-black humanoid sitting amongst the smaller sludges said, “Hey.”

“Hey.” Peter turned around, went back into his bedroom, and shut the door.

He opened the door again. They were still there. Nuts. “What.”

“We’re just using your phone,” the green one said.

Been meaning to draw fanart for these for ages, so this was a great opportunity!

Slow-burn SymbiOT3 fic that I absolutely adore. I love how it takes Eddie and Flash a while to even see each other face to face! There’s so much drama and fun dialogue, and Andi is an absolute gem. The plot itself is super interesting, and I can’t wait to see how it interweaves with Flash and Eddie getting to know each other better.

Yet another SymbiOT3, this is the first in the Peachy series! The series as a whole is wonderful, and the character development for all three is beautiful. Especially Flash coming to terms with gender identity stuff! The series always gives me such a warm cozy feeling reading it. 

How I Met my Brother and Regretted Everything by Prince_of_Trash (@princess-of-peachtrees)

To be completely 100% honest, I did not care at all about Carnage as a character before reading this fic. Now I fucking love him and his rat-bastard self. AND RED, OH MY GOD RED. This fic has one of my favorite characterizations of Sleeper, and is an absolutely hysterical ride. Even with the funny setup, tho, it still does a great job of hammering home the sadder scenes with amazing skill.

SymbiOT3, but this time with Movie!Eddie! The characterizations in this fic are fantastic, and I especially love how much it delves into Flash’s head (the angst is delicious). The pacing is phenomenal, and the progression of Eddie and Flash’s relationship feels incredibly natural in a way that makes me feel for them and their beloved goo alien when anything goes wrong.

All of these are fics that I love to go back to for inspiration, or just a fun time! I highly recommend checking out all of these wonderful authors and their other works as well! 

Obviously there are also fantastic artists in our fandom ( @d-erm, @owlapinart, and @freedomconvicted to name a few!) I’d list them all but others have wonderfully done that already, so I suggest perusing the rec lists I’ve reblogged because we have so many incredible people providing quality Venom content <3

this is my own personal method and it might not guarantee results, but don’t overwhelm yourself and start small if the canvas is too intimidating. starting small also makes me more open minded to creating more dramatic poses. don’t overthink and have fun! hope it helps!

Hi, thank you so much!!! To learn how to draw hand flapping, I recommend studying animation smears.

Rise uses this technique a lot, pause just about any fast-paced sequence and you’re sure to find smear references!
