You were probably a "weird kid" in school but joke's on everyone else because now you have an encyclopedic knowledge of [aspect of pop culture] and they don't!
Yep, that's me.
Death in the snow.
For context: this is an illustration for the eighth chapter of my now complete Puss in Boots 2: The Last Wish fanfiction, The Golden Hourglass.

some people think writers are so eloquent and good with words, but the reality is that we can sit there with our fingers on the keyboard going, âwhatâs the word for non-sunlight lighting? Like, fake lighting?â and for ten minutes, all our brain will supply is âunofficialâ, and we know thatâs not the right word, but itâs the only word we can come up withâŠuntil finally itâs like our face got smashed into a brick wall and we remember the word we want is âartificialâ.

My multi-chaptered Puss in Boots: The Last Wish fanfiction, The Golden Hourglass, is finally complete!
Thank you for all your support, dear readers! I sincerely hope you like the conclusion to the story, and I would love to hear your thoughts.
Enjoy!
Every mortal had a soulmate. Death didnât.
"So?" Pussâ red rose twirled between his claws.
"So, you should stop pursuing me, and go back to your soulmate," Death growled.
"Kitty and I have an open relationship. Sweet of you to worry, though," Puss purred.
"Iâm not supposed to mingle with mortals! This is why I donât have a mark!"
"That doesnât sound like a âno,â" Puss caressed Deathâs chin with the flower. "I donât care what fate has to say. But I do care about your answer."
Despite his suave voice, the rose trembled in his paw.
Death took it.
Cats had nine lives, but only one Death, like everyone else.
Puss in Boots had always laughed at the notion. He didnât need a creepy shadow warning him about lethal danger, he was a legend.
Until his spare lives ran out.
Then the wolf appeared.
Puss slowly pushed his drink away. His Death sneered:
"Now youâre paying attention."
"Why⊠arenât you moving away?"
"I will, once you sober up."
A claw tilted Pussâ chin up.
"When you do, youâd better remember this," his Death growled: "I wonât let you ignore my signs anymore. If I get this close again, run."
Here is an illustration for The Golden Hourglass' seventh chapter: Puss just caught some breakfast!
"They sent the Angel of Death to get me? Iâm flattered."
"No one sent me."
"You came on your own?! Thatâs breaking the rules!"
"Youâre one to talk."
"What did I do to get you this mad at me?! Was it this town I saved from annihilation?"
"They will die eventually. I donât care."
"Whatâs this about, then?!"
"What do you think? Why did you fall in the first place?"
"âŠFor sleeping with mortals?"
"As a cat."
"Duh, cats are irresistible. I miss my wings, but honestly? Best form to get stuck in."
"âŠ"
"âŠNot here to kill me, are you?"
"Hey, Lobo! I got your parts!"
Death raised his head from the open bowels of his vessel. Puss in Boots glided in and landed beside the wolf with a flap of the leather wings Death had crafted for him. There was some beautiful irony in watching his creation come to life.
"Not as fashionable as my cape, but theyâre very cool," the cat flaunted his wings. "So yes, I will help you upgrade your boat."
"Good," Death smirked. "You will be more comfortable when you ride it."
"Sure, eventually."
"How much for these parts?"
"One kiss," Puss winked. "Or thereabouts."
"No⊠You canât be here, this is supposed toâŠ!"
"Make you immortal?"
Death sneered at the cat cowering inside the sealed pod:
"All this machine can do is gather data from your memories, create an approximate replica of your legend, and upload it into a robot.
"I donât chase lifeless shams, Puss in Boots. I am here for you," Deathâs sickle knocked on the glass. "Youâre gonna use your last moments to âsaveâ your precious legend? Or are you gonna fight?"
Death could crush him inside the pod; instead, he waited.
Puss clenched his sword, and slammed the cancel button.
Art for DeathPuss Week Day 3: Hanahaki.
It goes with my drabble Flowers From Your Ashes, which I wrote for the same prompt. Let's just say that Death has... conflicting feelings for Puss in Boots, and leave it at that.
A good day to die, and a fine time for gardening.
Wasnât it convenient that Death used sickles for work?
To add insult to injury, the cat died by fire this time. The flowers in the wolfâs lungs withered like all the sunlight and water had just vanished from the world. They were dry when Death spat them out and cut their stems. Orange and red gladioli, like the previous six times.
Death knew Puss in Boots would revive, and so would the cut blooms in Deathâs lungs.
Another three lives for the cat to waste.
Until the last harvest.
Death waited by the riverbank of Hamelin.
A black tidal wave rose and collapsed, narrowly missing the tabby running from the giant swarm of rats.
Wild-eyed, claws out, the cat growled around the ancient rat trapped in his maw, swatted fiercely at the rodents that came too close, shook off the ones that jumped on his back, without slowing down.
Puss jumped into the river, claws gripping a drifting log. The rats tried to swim to their captured leader. They got swallowed by the wild currents like black foam.
"Youâre giving me a real workout," Death shook his head fondly.
Jack Hornerâs wish had cataclysmic consequences.
All magical creatures were stripped of their powers or disappeared outright. Those who remained were entirely at the mercy of an all-powerful tyrant.
Puss could no longer talk, wield a sword, or stand on his hind legs. But he remembered who he was.
The wolf remembered him too. Puss had known as soon as they had met again, red eyes locked on green.
He looked from the cat to the former pie factory turned magical fortress. They were headed the same way.
Words were unnecessary. Their intent was clear:
âWeâll take him down together.â
Have an illustration for chapter 9 of The Golden Hourglass!
The group is getting along better lately, good for them.

Only one chapter to go before the end!
In the meantime, I will be participating in DeathPuss Week (see the details on this post): I will be posting one drabble per day for the event, from June 15th to June 21st. I hope you like them!
You know what? I'll do it too.

Happy Pride Month, everybody!
What are you going to do for pride month?

Fanart for my fic!!! *O*
This style is very cool, the lightning and shading turned out great, I love the color palette you used, it really feels like the gold is covering everything! I also like the symbolism of a sea of gold rising at Death's feet. And his expression! Poor overworked wolf, this curse isn't making his job any easier, but those souls aren't going to reap themselves.
Thank you so much for taking the time to draw this, I love it! <3
Drew Death from @goforthequill 's fanfiction "The Golden Hourglass"!
I finally faced my fear of doing lighting and shading and loved how it turned out yipee
Love your fic so much!realy love last one chapter!cant wait to see more~
Aw, thank you! ^-^ Glad to hear it, especially because I was a bit apprehensive about the tone shift in the last chapter, but all the readers who commented so far loved it, so it's really reassuring.
Can't wait to share the rest of the story with all of you! <3
Cover art for my fanfiction The Golden Hourglass!
It was about time I drew Puss and Death together.
Just posted The Golden Hourglass' eighth chapter!
Please mind the added tags, dear readers, this one is a bit darker. Nothing dark enough to raise the rating above T, I don't think, but I made the most potentially triggering scenes skippable just in case.
Take care!
Your story and illustrations are so great!! Just wanted to let you know they're very appreciated. đ
Thank you so much!!
That's very sweet of you, I am really happy that you love both my writing and my art, it means a lot. <3 I hope you like the next chapters and illustrations just as much!
Have you watched The Adventures of Puss in Boots? (It's the one with the Netflix show with the white cat named Dulcinea)
I am afraid I haven't watched it. I don't watch that many series, and I have to admit that the length of this one intimidates me a bit.
I did get spoilt about a couple of things though, including who Dulcinea is, and it did sound interesting. If nothing else, I really appreciate the reference behind her name, and how fitting it is for her storyline.
Chapter 7 is out!
Aaand the chapter count went up again because I had to cut a chapter in two due to an upcoming tone shift, oops. Let's see if I can stick to a decimal.
I hope you like the chapter!
