Let's be clear. Mr. Gaiman is the exception, not the rule. Most professional authors are nowhere close to millionaires. I was surprised when I learned that, as a public school teacher, I earn more than most authors. Neil is coming to bat for all of those authors who will lose a substantial part of their income because of this. I agree that libraries are important, and not everyone can afford to buy books, but I can see both sides of this coin.

I was discussing high school proms with a friend, and he said guys wants one of two things in a prom date:

1. A slut who will blow you both going to the prom and coming back.

Or

2. Jennifer Connely in the dance scene from "Labyrinth".

‐‐-----------------------------------------

My wife and I are big fans of Labyrinth and David Bowie. For her birthday a few years ago I got her this:

when I'm teaching the periodic table and the structure of the atom to my students, I show them this picture. I say it's the "smartest picture on Earth".

Not only was Marie Curie the only person in that picture with two Nobels, she was the first person to win two, and the ONLY person ever to win in two different categories.

They are all amazing though

Imagine if the garbage celebs who made that “Imagine” song cover had put half as much effort into their singing as these pro stunt artists put into their own quarantine content: a fight scene performed by over a dozen stunt artists, remotely.

Yep, that's pretty much it.

I am so making one of these for my classroom. (I already have a single-shot version.)

This was my first CD. Back in the day, I saved my pennies to buy a CD player. The prices had recently dropped, and were now down somewhere around $300. (At a time when minimum wage was $3.35/hr. It took a lot of saving.) I bought the player, only to realize that I had spent pretty much all my money and had nothing left to buy any CDs to play on it. The shop manager seemed to notice the dilemma and offered me a free CD from the rack, and I instantly grabbed Oxygene. I had several Jarre records, but not this one. It's been more than 40 years, and I still have the CD. I ended up buying a lot of CDs from that shop...
