This is a picture of Montaser Al Sawaf, another Palestinian journalist killed by the IOF:
I am continually enraged by the normalization of Palestinian people's deaths in mainstream western media, and the constant dehumanization of each of their lives. They are not just numbers -they are people who have dreams, ambitions, livelihoods, families, friends, hobbies, and interests.
The IOF is committing war crimes, crimes against humanity, is breaking dozens of international laws and UN Conventions -is committing mass genocide -but a small fraction of people in power get to determine the narrative of 'who is the REAL victim here,' by reinforcing IOF and American propaganda which sides with settler-colonial violence -and it is beyond abhorrent.
imo Gi-hun can be deranged and violent (and it’s not a bad thing). yes, he’s kind and a good person, but that doesn’t mean he can’t experience anger and be desperate (enough to possibly kill), especially in a life or death situation. a reminder that he was about to kill Sang-woo in his sleep before Sae-byeok stopped him in season 1.
do I think Gi-hun would actually go through with it if he wasn’t stopped? he probably wouldn’t. he did choose not to kill Sang-woo in that final game. but he’s certainly not above violent thoughts or threatening people.
I also think this is what makes Gi-hun so fascinating as a character. he’s kind and a sweetheart, but he’s not always a “cinnamon roll uwu”. he can also be deranged and violent if he believes his life or the lives of people he loves are in danger.
This how my life becomes. Living in samll bad tent without bathroom. Cold night you can't sleep because of the cold but we surviving. no gas also
when ali died, sang-woo verbally justified his death.
"don't make a big deal out of it. he was just an old man you met here." (he was [somebody] you met here. to me this feels like him justifying his actions because he'd only just met him.)
when jung-soo/the glassmaker died, sang-woo verbally justified his death.
"we have to kill everybody else anyway to leave with that money."
when sae-byeok died, sang-woo verbally justified her death.
"she was going to die anyway. i just ended her pain quickly." "going home without a single cent? i can't do that."
but when sang-woo put the knife in his throat, there was no verbal justification.
sang-woo justified every kill he made, except for his own.
romeo and juliet if romeo killed more people and they were both traumatised middle-aged men and juliet was the victim of ongoing psychological torture <3
