I forgot to upload these here, so uh. Here ya go.
Does anyone have a link to a back-to-basics article about good fanfic practices, like standards of content and chapter length and such (speaking as an old fart who only wrote a couple of shitty one-shots back when lemons were a thing)
what does it mean to be mspec and gay/lesbian? like does it mean, homo-romantic bi/pan/poly/omni-sexual (or vice versa)? or bi/pan/poly/omni-romantic and homo-romantic (or sexual) at the same time? or both? ???
there’s a few meanings!
1) (mspec)romantic + homosexual or homoromantic + (mspec)sexual
2) being attracted to multiple genders, and because of your own gender, you’re gay for all of them
3) being mspec, but highly prioritizing or much more strongly feeling your attraction to the same gender to the point that gay/lesbian fits you a lot of the time
4) using the historical, non-exclusionary definitions of gay and lesbian and thus being gay/lesbian because you’re mlm/wlw/nln
5) having a fluid/flux/flexible orientation (typically in this situation, the person always or almost always feels mlm/wlw/nln attraction and sometimes is attracted to other genders, but it varies)
6) (i’ll use lesbian for this explanation, but it also works for gay) being attracted to women and nonbinary people/certain groups of nonbinary people (such as unaligned enbies or demigirls), and though you consider your attraction to all of them to be lesbian, you also want to acknowledge that you’re attracted to more than one gender
7) i’ve seen this one less, but i have seen some gays/lesbians use mspec gay/lesbian labels because they had a partner come out as trans (as in, they were in a lesbian relationship but the partner came out as a trans man, etc) and though they still identify as gay/lesbian wrt all other situations, they’re still attracted to their partner and recognize that that makes them mspec
and there could be more, but that’s off the top of my head!
Thank you for your comment!
This was such a lovely comment that I couldn't help but draw a picture.
Not that anybody asked, but I think it's important to understand how shame and guilt actually work before you try to use it for good.
It's a necessary emotion. There are reasons we have it. It makes everything so. much. worse. when you use it wrong.
Shame and guilt are DE-motivators. They are meant to stop behavior, not promote it. You cannot, ever, in any meaningful way, guilt someone into doing good. You can only shame them into not doing bad.
Let's say you're a parent and your kid is having issues.
Swearing in class? Shame could work. You want them to stop it. Keep it in proportion*, and it might help. *(KEEP IT IN PROPORTION!!!)
Not doing their homework? NO! STOP! NO NOT DO THAT! EVER! EVER! EVER! You want them to start to do their homework. Shaming them will have to opposite effect! You have demotivated them! They will double down on NOT doing it. Not because they are being oppositional, but because that's what shame does!
You can't guilt people into building better habits, being more successful, or getting more involved. That requires encouragement. You need to motivate for that stuff!
If you want it in a simple phrase:
You can shame someone out of being a bad person, but you can't shame them into being a good person.
"I'd destroy the world to protect you" but it's a parent/child relationship
Not sure if this has been mentioned yet…but depending on the versions and timelines you follow, the npcs are either dealing with a HUGE(possibly) apocalyptic crisis that’s enough for multiple lifetimes over, OR multiple slightly less but STILL major apocalyptic crises (it really depends on what KIND you’re willing to accept)
Honestly how good the NPC life is depends greatly on what game you're dropped into.
Pokémon? Free healthcare, great company, living the dream.
Legend of Zelda? It's a toss up whether the twink will be a saviour, a menace, or both to you personally. Thankfully, major crises are usually only once or twice a lifetime at most, unless you're a longer-lived race like the Zora.
Mario? There's a crisis every single goddamn year because of the neighboring kingdom. Do you have any idea how many anniversaries and weddings you've missed because of Bowser's horrible attempts at flirtation? Too damn many.
Kirby: See above, but there's a good likelihood you'll be kidnapped or eaten or smth. 2/10 would not recommend.
What they try to bury here is that people uninstalled to switch to better adblockers that actually work to block youtubes bullshit
