Episode 35 might be one of my favs. Robots are demanded 100% accuracy in shooting. They get 98.91% and can get more accurate only with try and effort and they want to improve their skills like that, not by replacing their body on advanced technology. Deckerd says that this remaining 1.09% might be because of their human side of A.I, because robots wouldn't miss, but people would. I am in love with this series.

Hey I was wondering if I could have your permission to make a podfic of Odds Of Survival? :3 been a bit of a lurker for a while and I adore your writing style

No promises bc my opportunities to record are few and far between, and I’m very new to podficcing, but I’d absolutely love to if you’re okay with it? Completely understand if not

Additionally, do you have any songs you associate with OOS?

Hi! I’ve got a much better grasp on what a pod fic is now. You are welcome to make one whenever you’ve got the time!

My only request is you include credit for me and keferon since they began the story.

There’s a couple of songs I mention in the after credits parts like “I was made for Lovin’ you” by Kiss and “I feel love” by Donna Summers. The second one because I was trying very hard to find an eight minute song that fit the vibe of a giant robot vs alien squid battle (The answer is always Roller Rink music guys).

I’ve just got a soft spot for rock ballads in general. Stuff like “Separate Ways” by Journey, “I need a hero” by Bonnie Tyler, and “Radar Love” by Golden Earing (don’t think this last one counts under that category but I’ve been listening to it lately).

Later on, there will be Daft Punk and other genres involved. I like the idea of diegetic music and Jazz picking what he’d want to fit the mood.

Even outside of Oos, I’m usually listening to certain songs or soundtracks to help me get the mood right.

Some examples being the Ponyo soundtrack for Too Deep Too Shallow. “99” by Mob Choir for “Careful. He bites”. And most recently I was listening to an extended version to the Outer Wilds Travelers Theme (Solanum and Prisoner) while writing the bits with Rung.

Thanks for the ask and have fun recording!

I then tried putting blankets over my desk and sitting under it. This worked pretty well, 7/10.

Gave me neck ache. Completed the whole chap tho! With... varying quality but hey. Either I'll scrap it and redo it whenever I have the house to myself again, or I'll edit it and post it anyway

Turns out tho I didn't actually need to do any of that bc apparently sitting on my bed with the window closed and using my earphone mic at a specific angle works even better

I am gonna be aching from all the weird positions I've been in in the last two hours but hey l learnt a lot, so it was worth it

Brooooo podficcing is hard /lh

I thought the tricky part was gonna be getting the character voices right and not slipping up but no because fucking ambient noise exists

So far in the last hour, I have tried

1. Lying underneath my bed, the gaps filled with folded up duvet, and my earphone mic dangling from the mattress pallets. 2/10 very uncomfortable, too warm, made the breathing sounds way too loud, can’t fucking move, let alone gesticulate, bc I barely fit under there.

2. In between two sofas with thick blankets and cushions covering the gaps like a pillow fort, cross legged and bent over at the waist so I don’t brush up against the fabrics and make noise. 3/10 uncomfortable, awkward, could still hear the fucking birds on the recording

3. Sitting cross legged on the bathroom floor, under a blanket, phone in a sock, dog sitting forlornly on the other side of the door. 6/10 worked better, ambient noise sounded more constant (easier to remove) and no birds. Awkward and unconventional but hopefully it’ll work this time

Now gotta wait for my kindle to charge so I can read off that rather than my phone, bc I have to record using it rather than my computer bc my computer sounds like a fucking rocket whenever I get it to do anything
