Finally got some free time to do a live stream today! Consider sliding by and getting your character sculpted live!
link to stream: https://youtu.be/VC9JQgbZwNQ
to submit your character simply reblog this post with a full body, colored ref and be available in the stream for any follow up questions!
So, you have an unwrapped 3D model now what? in theory, you could get those parts, print them and use those as patterns... but this dude called Seb Stamm, made this awesome free site that makes so much work for you! Man, if you can, please, donate this man a kofi for me! https://plushify.net
In that site you can find more info on how to UV unwrap and prepare your 3D model, and other guides better than this one, so i totally recommend you to take a look!
Anyway, you can upload the OBJ file you created on the last step, and the site will tell you if something is wrong. In this case, some tiny parts of the model are too stretched... but thats ok, i dont think they are gonna affect the model that much.
So, next step after uploading, is to give names to the parts of the pattern. You can omit this step, like I did... then I spent 1 hour trying to identify the 7 different kind of triangles this plush have, and even marked the wrong pieces on fabric ¬¬ Dont be like me, kids. You dont have to name everything, but do name parts if there are similar pieces in the model. Also, name how many of them you need, as sometimes you need to print 2 parts with the same pattern piece.
Coloring is also unnecessary, the program can tell you how to place the pieces on the fabric to minimize usage, so that's nice. I just did it cause I liked to see it in color :3
You can also add markings to the plush... but i have no idea how to do that, so... I'll ignoring them :P . Then, comes the place where i made my biggest mistake. The one that is gonna make this project take SO MUCH LONGER... Did you see how I have been using the tag Hubris? yea its there for a reason: I made this thing too damn BIG
Big Boi. Anyway, after all of that, you should get a PDF! With all the pieces and patterns, ready to print and assembly, this is so cool!
On the next step, ill print and assembly the patterns, and mark the fabric!

So, i decided to make an Helioptile plush cause, well, the guy needs more love, and i have a PMD D&D character, so yea. Also! I found a pattern for it by Diffeomorphism! but, unfortunately, it was one of their first attempts and the result was a bit... underwhelming (It was their first pattern, they got really good at this) So I started wondering... why don't I make my own pattern?
I found this awesome site called Plushify, that can create patterns just by uploading an UV unwrapped 3d model. Hey, i made that donut tutorial on blender, and i watch Captain Disillusionment... that kinda makes me an expert on blender! I can totally do that! Lets me just grab an already rigged model from Model Resources:
Fine, lets pose it and use the edit tools to cut and them mark as seam the eyes and other lines so i can cut it on different materials and... done!
Man, this is so easy! Now, to UV Unwrap! The process is a bit hard to underestand at first, you grab the 3d object and cut it and present it as a 2d plane... If you have seen a Skin for Minecraft or a source engine npc texture, then you are gonna understand how it works. You also need to add extra cuts so it bends right and has a good shape after sewing, and some other concerns. Its a bit hard to put in paper, but if anyone wants me to talk about how i cut this, send me an ask and I'll make a post!
Anyway, i do papercrafts, thats basically UV unwrapping in reverse, right? yea this is gonna be so easy!
Wait, no...
oh heck no... third times the charm!
OH SHIP NO!
THEEEERE WE GO! Again, i suck at explaining this, but if you want some help on how to do this, let me know! It did take me a couple of days and some tries tho, this is the 6th and final revision
I even printed some patterns before realizing some error I made, but yea, once done, export an OBJ file and you are ready to upload it into https://plushify.net! I talk about this on the next step

On the discord I'm on, tons of people where sharing their plushie collections, and here I was, with no project on my hand (except for like, 30 other projects on hold) and decided, out of nowhere... to make one for myself! I mean... how hard can it be???
I know how to sew. i sewed tons of holes in socks or button in shirts, that's probably enough, right? And what is a plushie but a soft papercraft??? this is gonna be so easyyyyy!!!! Anyway, i've been keeping a record, and I'm gonna show the steps I'm taking to make it, in case someone else decides to follow my lead, or so you can chuckle at my failure! Anyway, welcome to:
DasK's Folly!
Step 1 | Step 2
Mosfet, cleric of Twilight, is having a very interesting dream. Again, pretty quick dumb drawing, but i kinda liked how this one ended. Again, done on paint.net with the curved line tool
Eh, i made these as jokes for a pmd dnd group, using paint.net curved tool, they are mostly traced and where a joke, but some friends coerced me into keep drawing, by using some evil techniques like "encouraging", "being friendly" and just by being awesome. The bastards. So im gonna post these here just as an archive, as... there is a couple of them i like.
Heya, this is my new PC, Ollie Weaver Waverider, Otterkin Suffer Gurl Paladin oath of Glory, she is here to kick ass, ride some totally tubular waves on his surfboard/shield, and chew bubblegum.
live stream monday! come hang out and chat. If you want to suggest a mini to sculpt just reblog this post with a full body colored ref!

Hey everyone, meet Team Fable! from my hacked run of PMD:EoS! We have, Pooch the Poochyena, Hazel the Mareep, and Neffy the Swablu.
Pooch's and Neffy's models by Jav Papercraft (Poochyena - Swablu) Hazel's model by Brandon from Paperpokes (Mareep)
I modded the rom to start with Poochyena and Mareep, and it took me like a week, 2 months later SkyTemple got released and made the process trivial ¬¬. As characters, they are... ok, they are good but the move pool sucks till after the evolutions, and I kinda hate that in this game you kinda need a pokemon exclusively to have the Friendly IQ, but Altaria is awesome in any shape.
Team Fable
Pooch the Poochyena (Human) - Sky Blue Bow
Poochyena was the first model I assembled! and way before getting the idea of making my pmd teams. I choose him because he was mostly gray and wasn't sure if painting them in crayons was a good look.
Hazel the Mareep (Partner) - X-Ray Specs
I love this model, it's my fave, i really liked how solid it feels but it does look fluffy, and very in model. I had to increase the size as the og model was half the size, and I kiiiinda overdid it, but i love how big she looks around the other models. Oh, and when taking the photos forgot to add the xray specs ¬¬
Neffy the Swablu (Recruit) - Friend Bow
Wait, swablu has a tail? i learned that whit this model, i think this was my fastest model to assembly, its both easy and small. Not much else.
Yo, dumb request, you can ignore it if you get others, but I wanna see Abba from Twitch Dates Pokemon
more refs and sause: https://twitch-dates-pokemon.fandom.com/wiki/Abba/Portraits
I still plan to do the live stream, but im going to do it in about two hours rather then the normal time. sorry for the delay. Ill post again when I start.
Say hello to Team Sunshine, my "official" team from PMD:EoS, with Apollo the Shinx (pc) and Ivy the Chikorita (partner)
Both models by Jav-Papercraft (Shinx - Chikorita)
Apollo the Shinx (Human) - Energy Scarf An early model I made, it was really fun to make, but I cant remember a lot of how hard or easy it was, so I'm guessing easy? or I would remember the problems... and that weird crease around the mouth is much less noticeable irl. Fun fact, most pokemon cards of a species and half of them are weird, badly drawn or just not as good. Look for Shinxs pokecards and EACH. ONE. OF. THEM. is cute.
Ivy the Chikorita (Partner)- Bright Veil That leaf has been glued SO many times, it just keeps falling, Premature Leaf Baldness is no joke, and affects 4 out of 10 Chikoritas, please consult your closest nurse Joy for more information. Anyway, the potato shape is hella easy to make, and I love how it ended. Except the veil, that its a bit small, and looks weird with nothing else in her body...
This was my fist Explorers team a long ago, I cant remember if I even finished the epilogue, but it's still my "canon" team. I think I got Shink in the test without resetting, but I never got it again, so, who knows, he's cool. And Chikorita is the best partner. Got kinda lazy with the hold items, or uniques in this case, the veil kinda has the shape I want but looks terrible.
My GTI team, Team Impression! as in, Impression games, because you build a town ¬¬ Here we have: Isabell the Haxorus (player), Branch the Pignite (partner), "The Voice" the Hydreigon!
Isabell the Haxorus (player), Item: Twist Band. Model by Jav-Papercraft Assembly time: like 10-12 Hours maybe. I have no idea why, but this model was much easier to assembly than its looks! had a bit of problems in the feet. This is also along Mareep as my favorite assembled model, he just looks great.
Branch the Pignite (partner), Item: Power Band. Model by Antyyy Assembly time: ~10 hours. This is an extremely easy to build model... till you get to the tail, that is not only complicated but antyyy doesn't provide the pdo files, so its really hard to get what goes where, i had to spend a lot of time trying to figure that up.
"The Voice" the Hydreigon, Item: Persim Band (I tough it was a scarf). Model by Brandon from Paperpokes Assembly time: 9999.99 hoursyears. Oh god, the problem with this one is that the model was too small for my taste, so I upscaled it to 1.3x and i was ADAMANT about using the same number of pages so I started rotating and moving parts for an entire morning trying to fit all these pieces. then I made many mistakes assembling it so I had to reprint half a page with spares, ruining the "use the same number of pages" thing, and the designer recommended closing the model on the back, but I found it extremely hard building it to close there and in the end it was a bad closure point. And before finishing it I had to paste the wings (i need a better way to place those external assemblies) and that takes a lot of "holding it in place while watching netflix". Finally when i finished it, I realized I miss-painted the main head "crest"... crud I was NOT going to make the entire face again so yea.
Before even starting the game I decided the team was going to be about two females, before realizing the game forces the partner to be male... Screw it, in my mind both are gal pals. Tho at the end I ended up shipping Isabell and Hydreigon, because I love that goofy dragon. GtI is both a great game, a terrible one, and one I love with all my heart.
I don’t post this often, but I have a Pokemon dnd discord if you want to join. We talk about pokemon, dnd and try to get games together.

This is Team The Agency, my "official" team from PSMD, with Alexander the Serperior (pc) and Rita the Lucario (partner).
Both models by Jav Papercraft (Serperior - Lucario)
Alexander the Serperior (human) - Harmony Scarf Serperior is one of my fave pokes ever, the model ended up looking okay, but I'll probably re do it one of this days, it is hella easy, as is mostly tubes, but the union between the head and the rest of the body can be very complicated if you don't prepare for it, like I didn't ¬¬
Rita the Lucario (Partner) - Harmony Scarf Ok, I never liked riolu/lucario, but PSMD selected it as a partner, and as I was expecting to restart the game after I get the hang of it, I said sure, but I ended up loving riolu with super's partner personality, so yea, I kept her and now I like lucario, grog damn it ¬¬
Lore: Alexander is very reserved, aloof and calculating, and Rita is the one moving the thing along. The team name of how Alexander wanted to run the team in a very organized way. After the ending of PSMD and the completion of the world map (that in my mind its a rough whole world map), they left the Society and formed "The Cartography and Mapping Agency" to work making more precise maps of regions or town/cities. While Rita was the official head of the agency, she was mostly out on adventures and was managed by Alexander that retired to run the place and train the rest the recruits, and after a while, rise their child.
Arran the Bagon Wizard? Tuba Player, Parakoopas character from Fireally’s PMD based Stars Without Number campaing Stars Without Number campaing. Model by Jav-Papercraft
The model was pretty nice to assemby, but the tuba, It was my first desing on pepakura, but Fusion 360 was being annoying so I half-assed the original model, and for some reason it came out too small, and forgot about that “pony tail“ thing on bagon’s back and… yea, came out terrible. 🤷 I will have to re do it some other day.
This is mostly the reason I made this... twitch channel? yea, I think its called a twitch channel... to post my papercrafts, I’ll be posting more photos as I make them
Rotoscopy is truly the lowest form of art. Here’s Mosfet, my Twilight Domain Cleric, and he is here to chew bubblegum, talk about theology and prove that he is not a weak tiny lizard, and he already ate the bubblegum because he didn’t know you are supposed to chew it and not eat it like a candy!!!!
