Perhaps he fought as a small group of resistance, hence bandages wrapped around his torso and some scars. I gave him slight spiky hair.

after going back to the palace, he continued to aid his cousin as a somewhat non official advisor, he’s still in-line for the throne (In case sth happens) then ofc he can go chill with Iroh whenever he wants.
