Day 6 - Favourite Windclan cat.
Ā« Kill me. Kill me and live with the memory. Then tell the stars that youĀ won. Ā» - Gray Wing
One of my favourite quote ever, along with the Sun Trail's quote. Day 6 of @otterplush 's WCTOBER.
dawn of the clans is not nearly as good a people make it out to be.
so I've been thinking about it
and I think
DotC would've been more interesting if it explored more on the family aspect of things
Clear Sky, Jagged Peak, and Gray Wing are brothers who fall apart
Thunder is rejected by his biological father
it would be so cool to see DotC being about found family and what cats defined as family, for cats to choose who they belonged with and the Clans not forming from petty grudges and teaming up against Clear Sky
but by realizing that these were the cats that made them happy to be around
we get so many little tidbits of this, but that's not the overarching theme of the story and I think it'd be so much more fun if it was
Wind Runner, famously abandoned, learning that she's allowed to trust cats again and make her own family with Gorse Fur by her side. That she's allowed to have a family that won't hurt her.
Tall Shadow losing loved ones - namely her brother Moon Shadow - and making her family something safe that she could protect and that could, in turn, learn to protect each other
River Ripple having once known a proper family, but losing and and turning his group into a loving home, one where cats are welcome no matter how their paws brought them there and turning it into a community like that he grew up with
and then getting to the biggest missed opportunities;
Thunder, being torn so many ways, learning that family isn't always blood. Family is who you want to be around, those you want to protect, but also laugh with, learn from, and teach in turn. That just because Clear Sky sired him doesn't mean that he has to be loyal to his father.
And a Clear Sky redemption arc where Clear Sky learns that family isn't something you control. That family doesn't mean you can hurt those you care about, even if you believe it's for the 'greater good'. That all cats are their own person and trying to strip them of that doesn't make you good family and that you can lose the ones you love.

or at least
those are my feelings
potentially unpopular opinion but it would've been nice to have thunder and star flower actually get together and have a DEVELOPED relationship as opposed to shoving in the weird love triangle with clear sky and giving thunder a LITERAL last minute love interest just because clear sky needed a third and final girlfriend after he indirectly got the last two he knocked up killed and because thunder needed a girlfriend
like we could have had two young characters at odds after star flower's betrayal learning to open up to each other and gain each other's trust once more and bonding over the fact that they both had shitty dads who did shitty things and creating a group for themselves away from clear sky
like i have never felt closer to vomiting than reading through the clear sky/star flower romance chapters it made me so uncomfortable
// minor blood warning
(rough wip) women's rage <3
from an au where tom shows up trying to take the kits and turtle tail intercepts him and nails him where he stands
My River Ripple/Riverstar design!
I really wanna see a spayed/neutered warrior one day in the series and I wanna see how the clans will react, I think it would be really interesting
.
Dotc is awful and I think its fans have never actually read it

āTake me home where I belong, I got no other place to goā [Turtle Tail + Gray Wing]
River Ripple had a crush on Gray Wing and no one can convince me otherwise
I feel like I don't see enough conversation about how they had Star Flower be pursued by Thunder and Clear Sky who are explicitly father and son
Drawing of graywing. Heās such an nice guy one of my favourite characters. In my opinion he has one of the best story arcs out of the whole series.
so I'm finishing up The First Battle and like. yeah gray wings "tell the stars you won" line fucks hard but where did this come from. u spent like 3 books doing nothing but whining over everyone hating ur brother for being a power hungry dictator. where did this change of mind come from. ESPECIALLY SINCE MINUTES AFTER U GO BACK TO CODDLING HIM.
this chapter should've been from his pov. like I wouldn't hate this nearly as much if we saw his thought process; the brutal realization thar he can't keep denying that clear sky is a shitty person and everyone was right about him. idk. either that or give the line to thunder.
For how much (rightful) criticism Dawn Of The Clans gets Iām surprised I havenāt seen anyone mention the inaccurate characterizations that happen from The First Battle to The Blazing Star.
The First Battle ends with relegations of how bad Clear Sky is, how mislead he was, how much hes hurt everyone around him and then all the characters become aware of why he was acting the way he was and Thunder opens his heart to Clear Sky. Heās like āoh thatās why my dads like that. Heāll have to work hard to right the wrongs heās done but I believe he can do it. Itāll take me a while to forgive him thoughā. But then The Blazing Star begins with them forgetting how they all were feeling about Clear Sky and creating conflict because they go back to being unsympathetic and that heāll never change again.
I read these books back to back so it might be more noticeable just because there wasnāt a year between me reading the two (also I swear you can tell when a new Erin begins writing in the series), but my point still stands.
I think people hate Clear Sky because the books themselves didnāt properly justify his redemption. They needed conflict, they had understanding and acceptance of him too early and then they back tracked to prolong it. Itās like whiplash the way Thunder goes from hating his father to understanding him and having hope for him back to hating if him and then liking him at the end of the series.
Thatās one thing that sucks about this Warrior Cat series (and i wouldnāt be surprised about the others once I get to them), the Erins donāt always create coherent stories and characters. And maybe itās just this book but all the characters are very static as well and when they try to have dynamic characters it just seems forced for plot. Which really sucks because this is a great concept for a series and it wasnāt all terrible.

Support the younger/local actors in Reservation Dogs! This summer I met the father of the actress who plays the younger Deer Lady. We're part of a museum fellowship. He was so excited for her to be on Rez Dogs. She's Assiniboine/Nakoda/Creek/Seminole and honestly so talented.
This was an important episode. Please deliver justice to those who did and didn't survive residential schools.
I think about this scene every day.
Laszlo Cravensworth not only knew about Jeff, Nadjaās reincarnated ex, but was the one who killed him in each life. But the thing is it wasnāt because he was jealous (which seems like the logical explanation since Nadja and Laszlo are married). It was all because every time Jeff reappeared it would bring back bad memories for Nadja and cause her to cry. That was the line for Laszlo.
And while there may be no justice for these men on land, the sea is unforgiving.
I do condemn the media and governments for spending more time and resources searching for those five morons than for the Mediterranean wreckage, however I canāt be mad at the internet because i get it. Only one of these stories is funny and only one of these stories is a win for the working class. If this situation helps further cement the fact that only certain lives are valued under capitalism, and that the rich are NEVER smarter or savvier than the lower classes, then I say keep the memes coming.
For those who are behind and are alarmed: Shane and Ryan "splitting up" is a bit in Mystery Files (specifically the debriefs) where they stopped being friends after Ryan says he doesn't pay attention during Shane's presentations. It's similar to the Steven vs Ricky bits in Too Many Spirits, or Shane not caring that Ryan was about to be skinned alive in Puppet History. The Ghoul Boys and Watcher aren't going anywhere. It's just a bit. You can breathe. :)

I constantly forget that exy is played on a courts the size of soccer????
Like its a hardwood court so my brain says its the size of basketball that is incorrect
"Exy was a bastard sport, an evolved sort of lacrosse on a soccer-sized court with the violence of ice hockey"
There are 10 people for soccer + goalkeeper
Exy is 5 + goalkeeper AND there are movement restrictions.
This beggs so many questions
How does anyone get cose enough to check how do they cover any ground when they only take ten steps? Even with passing its so far.
How high is the plexiglass?? How can Andrew smack the ball down the court its so far it would have to be hit like a bullet and have a high arc.
Realistically its more the size of an ice hockey rink with field hockey marks.
This doesn't even adress if the stadium is indoor or outdoor and weather there is actually like a net or goal with depth.
I need everyones thoughts
