Hey guys! I was just talking to someone that was asking me about my recommendations for Korean youtube channels to help practice and get exposed to more Korean. I thought other people might find these recommendations useful so I decided to make a post about it! Today Iβm focusing on channels of Korean natives, although I do still love The World of Dave and Korean Englishman. (ko/en) refers to what subtitles are available.
μ΄μ°LEEYEON (ko/en~) This is an art youtuber who takes on different topics such as overcoming a slump, self-studying, and drawing without fear, in a calming voiceover while sketching mainly in ink. Most videos have in-video Korean subtitles and many have English CC you can turn on.
ν΄κ·Έλ¦°λ¬ haegreendal (ko/en/es/po/ch/+) Iβve posted screencaps ofΒ ν΄κ·Έλ¦°λ¬ before because I enjoy her videos so much. She posts vlogs mainly about her daily life, cleaning, cooking, and taking care of her young child. She does not speak in her videos, communicating through in-video captions. Her videos make you wish for quiet afternoons sitting drinking coffee while watching nature out your window. All of her videos have English CC as well as CC in 10 other languages.
λ§λ§μ§μ€ ν€μΉ Mama Jinβs Korean Kitchen (ko/en/es/po) Mama Jin is a cook that focuses on specifically Korean recipes. She has videos teaching you to make dishes like tteokbokki, yuk-jeon, and samgyetang. She speaks in Korean in a voiceover and there are CC in English, Spanish, and Portuguese.
μ±λ κΉμ² μ CHANNEL GIMCHEOLSOO (ko/en/es/fr/viet/+) This is a vlog channel made byΒ κΉμ² μ that mainly consists of everyday activities of a gay couple in Korea. These videos all have in-video Korean subs as well as CC in English, Spanish, and many others depending on the video.
Talk To Me In 100% Korean (ko) TTMIKβs new youtube channel entirely in Korean! This channel is for those of you who love TTMIK but are in the intermediate range and need more immersive content. That content consists of conversations on a range of topics from the TTMIK crew. This channel only has Korean CC which you can turn on.
Cooking tree μΏ νΉνΈλ¦¬ (ko/en/es/fr/viet/+) This is a confectionary channel focused on teaching you how to make all kinds of sweet treats. This channel has the ingredients for each video listed in English and Korean but after that, there are no more in-video subtitles. The creator is also silent in their videos so you must turn on Korean CC. There are CC in many other languages as well but you will not get the benefit of learning Korean as you learn to bake.
μμ! 곡ν¬λΌλμ€ (ko) Rightly namedΒ βfear radioβ, this youtube channel is a collection of scary stories narrated to you with the background of unsettling music and atmospheric sounds. There are in-video subtitles as well as Korean CC for every video.
μ°ν©λ΄μ€TV -Β μλ§λ΄μ€Β (ko) Yonhap Subtitled News is as it says, subtitled news. This is a news channel that has a collection of videos specifically labelled as subtitled so that people can read the in-video Korean subtitles off the screen as the reporter speaks. They cover various daily news topics. I recommended this account in a previous post but itβs still a great resource!
What are your fave Korean channels! Iβd love to know.

it's 1am and I'm emo about the puss in boots movie. again. spoilers ahead.
Perrito is actually. amazing. Genuinely the ride along Puss needed. I know that's the point of his character, but it goes beyond that.
He mentions at several occasions that he was always unwanted and insulted to the point that he has no name of his own. He mentions his past with the other pups, his abandonments and the attempted murder he was a victim of. And all these times he plays it off as a joke, making a fun contrast with how horrified puss and kitty are while listening to his story. At first it seems that Perrito is not aware of how much he was abused or the extent of his trauma so the joke can work. But the thing is,,,he IS aware, to some extent at least.
He wants to be a therapy dog. He knew how to act when Puss had his panic attack. He KNOWS what trauma is, and he knows what healing is about. He wants to become a therapy dog specifically because he has suffered so much and wants to give someone the help he never got himself. He had to do all the work alone. He found ways to cope and keep a positive outlook on life despite the pain. It doesn't mean he's completely healed, in the sense that he stills denies and deviates through humor and becomes very emotionally dependent quickly (with puss becoming his ride or die simply because he took the time to actually talk to him, even if it wasn't kindly at first), but he actually dealt with his own trauma in the best of his abilities, and that's why his friends are so amazed with him. He's a warrior.
He inspires two other deeply traumatized individuals towards a path of healing, just because he could. He's the one who brings Puss and Kitty back together by pushing Puss to unpack his commitment issues to her, and he was also the one to make Goldie realize that the family she thought she missed was right next to her, AND he was the one to say that one life was more than enough for him, bringing puss to renounce to his wish and finally accept his mortality GOOD GOD. he's the best thing that happened to Puss in a WHILE. he owes his current happiness to him. that's crazy.
