RAINWINGS ❀!!
very obvious bias for them on my part - we are doing design notes for now, expect countless headcannons on their culture and life etc
-generally based on large parrots and pythons! in a fantasy sense, they are covered in scales that look/act as feather plumage, able to bristle and be moved for display or emote as body language together with their frills! their face looks like a snakes, able to scent heat and taste the air with tounge flicks
-they also have larger longer 'feathering' near the base of their tail that looks like macaw tails which helps them make tight turns when flying. their bird like wings all together make them agile in short bursts, but they do terribly when it comes to distance flying
-they have an elongated front thumb, large hook claws on their wings, and their hind talons look like a bird's for their arboreal lifestyle!
Seawing head-cannon design!
they are usually very short. chubby and stream lined so they are built to swim. seawings actually can't lift their heads up very far upward because of their build. their wings are inspired by flying fish!
i gave them axolotl-like frills too instead of gills on their neck, as it just makes sense more, allowing them to breath in and out of water, but depending on hydration. :>
i kind of imagine them being low fliers with their tails dragging heavily, but swimming with them kind of like a ray?
More Japanese book stuff, first pic is of DoD. I like the added symbols that each tribe has. Also tiny Glory is hilarious.
✰Tsunami rahhh
i struggled so much with the pose but ofc in the end she's ready to fight, she also had beads in her pearls to represent her friends :>
this is part 2 of my WoF dnd au, with another visualizer. the next part might take longer to make.
The Silkwing Citadel. Unlike the Hivewings and Leafwings, the Silkwing Citadel is less of a palace and more a center for the Silkwing community. The bottom of the structure is two silk-made towers open to any dragon, supported by bridges made of stretchy, more flexible silk. The top of the structure is a greenhouse split with another silk tower called The Spire, which houses the Silkwing royal family.
The Glass Market: This market is open to all Silkwings to buy and sell from each other. Anything and everything is sold here, but by far, the most commonly sold items are made of silk. Tapestries, clothing, silk jewelry, art pieces, custom statues, construction services, and so on. The stalls in the market change each day, so it is constantly packed with customers from sunrise to sunset. The market gets its name from the colored glass that hangs from the ceiling, suspended by thick threads of silk. Light pours through the windows to create patchwork rainbows that change throughout the day.
The Spinner Conservatory: This area of the Citadel is dedicated to teaching Silkwings how to use their silk. The main audience is dragonets after they've emerged from their cocoons, but dragons of all ages are encouraged to visit. There are dozens of classes, including web working, tapestry weaving, construction building, and many more. The teachers are mainly volunteers, but students are encouraged to donate food and trinkets for their work.
The Silkwing Hatchery: This public hatchery provides a safe, warm, and dry space for any Silkwing to hatch their eggs. The nests are first come, first serve, and are constantly guarded to ensure no egg goes missing.
The Chrysalis: An area in the Citadel dedicated to cocooning. Like the hatchery, this area is first come, first serve, with many branches and perches for dragonets to hang while they cocoon. This area is also heavily gaurded, with extra guards providing safe care for any flamesilks that may cocoon there.
The Western & Eastern Pavillion: Many dragons might think that Silkwings are limited to just silk as their construction material options, but this is not true. For instance, flamesilk (if accurately made) can be used to solder glass. This is how the glass ceiling for the Citadel's pavilions was made. Both contain colored, geometric glass, allowing sunlight to naturally filter through. The Western Pavilion is an open greenhouse filled with decorative and fruit-filled plants. Benches and paved paths line the pavilion for recreation activities. The Eastern Pavillion is much more open, with trees and flowering bushes lining the interior perimeter, while the center remains clear and open for parties, celebrations, and meetings with Leafwing diplomats.
The Spire: Finally, this is where the queen resides, accompanied by her immediate family. The Spire is redecorated whenever a new queen is crowned, usually adorned with fresh tapestries, rugs, and furniture. The current queen, Queen Alexandria, has The Spire beautifully decorated to match her appearance, filling its chambers with dark and malachite green tapestries and paintings, many of which reflect her image.

starting with the protags chronologically, dopey loving big brother<3
quick edit : the bracelets and flowers represent the other dragonets bc they are all adoptive sibs!
The Japanese cover of book two has been revealed and Tsunami’s design!!! All art by the amazing designer Lē Yamamura !!
Also I used basic google translate to translate the labels on her ref!! :)
Mudwings! ✦ generally inspired by water buffalo and crocodiles
for some headcannons - their horns can curl whichever way, but not up, as that would reveal them when they are hiding below the bog surface / mosses and small determined plant life grows on them bc they are ambush hunters who love relaxing, plus it helps them camouflauge!
layout generally inspired by @/Chaotic-minds-think-alike <3
i adore this concept <3
A Rainwing puppeteer! Their invisibility pretty much makes them perfect for practicals effect and costumes, so I wanted to experiment with that idea a bit! Just in time for halloween too.
