It was a beautiful morning outside, the sun was shining brightly and the birds were singing... A perfect day for a pleasant walk in the park. The warm sunlight cracked through the blinds in the room, it actually made things a little cosier. Avery’s eyes slowly opened and they grunted a little bit, sitting up and rubbing their eyes. Their head felt… a little fuzzy. Probably because they were still a little sleepy. Avery yawned and turned their head to their left, looking down at a sleeping Spaceboy, he was faced away from them as he slept, Avery quietly giggled at this. They reached down and gently poked his back, a little smile on their face. “Rise and shine handsome~” Avery whispered in his ear, a smug smile on their face, they waited a few seconds, he didn’t even stir… huh. Oh right… he’s a heavy sleeper.” Avery mumbled to themself, they placed their hand on his shoulder and squeezed. Again, nothing. Avery raised an eyebrow, they shook him. “Are you pretending to sleep again?” Avery waited for a response, nothing… again. Avery huffed, rolling their eyes playfully. “Okay seriously, get up Spaceboy.” Avery spoke, their voice a little louder and their tone more stern but slightly worried. Avery suddenly noticed they could smell something metallic, they also heard a dripping noise coming from where Spaceboy was… whatever the liquid was it was hitting the floor… What was that about…? “…Spaceboy?” Avery’s heart started to race a little and a cold sweat started. Avery slowly put both of their hands on his shoulder, he was… strangely cold. They sighed, before turning him around, hoping to see that handsome face they fell in love with. But what Avery saw caused them to shriek and jump back off of the bed, landing on their back. Avery’s blue eyes went wide and filled up with terror and their face went paper white. Where his right eye should have been, it was gone, gouged out and blood and juices were spilling out of his eye socket and there was blood coming out of his mouth. He was dead.

Avery couldn’t get a word out as they stared at his lifeless body bleeding all over the bed, their entire body was shaking as they started to hyperventilate, they felt as if they were going to puke from the horrible sight. Avery’s head was spinning and they felt as if they were going to suffocate from pure fear and anxiety. “No… no, no! NO! THIS CAN’T BE HAPPENING.” Avery sobbed, their lungs struggled to breathe and static noise started to fill their ears. “You can’t be gone… you…” Avery squeezed their eyes shut and clutched their head in their hands, tugging at their hair and digging their fingers into their scalp. “I’m so sorry… I should have been there to protect you!” Avery sobbed, they should have been there when those people took him… Spaceboy should have been safe, now look at what became of him! The room around them started to fade away to black, all that was there was Spaceboys body and Avery. The only words that came out of Avery’s mouth were “I’M SORRY I’M SORRY I’M SORRY-” Over and over again in choked up sobs.

“Avery…” Avery heard a faint voice calling their name from somewhere, but couldn’t focus on it, the smell of the blood and the image of Spaceboys dead body overwhelmed all of their senses way too much. “Avery!” Avery felt everything start to fade away, they kept crying and their eyes opened, their ears started to ring loudly. So… loudly. They couldn’t process anything other than that Spaceboy was dead and it was all their fault. They couldn’t protect him, they broke the promise they made to protect him, he was gone. It was all their fault. It was all their fault. It was all their-

“AVERY!” Avery’s eyes shot open and they gasped loudly, they shot up from the bed and they were shaking all over. Avery’s tear filled eyes darted around the bedroom, it was the middle of the night and the moonlight peaked through the curtains. The only thing Avery could hear was a loud ringing in their ears, unable to focus on anything as the image from that horrible nightmare flashed in their eyes and their stomach started to churn. They didn’t even realise that right next to them was Spaceboy, safe and sound but… staring at them with a wide eye and look of great concern. “Avery? Hey… look at me.” Spaceboy reached a hand out slowly to put it on Avery’s shoulder, but they suddenly got right out of the bed and rushed out of the bedroom. “Avery! What…” Spaceboy called out, quickly getting out of the bed and rushing behind them, he heard the door to the bathroom fly open, a loud thump, then… the sound of Avery vomiting. Spaceboy’s look of worry only worsened, he flicked the bathroom light on and stared down at Avery, he slowly crouched down next to Avery and rubbed circles on their back, trying to comfort them. After a few seconds the vomiting ceased and Avery sat up right, they were shaking horrendously and they looked so pale, after flushing the toilet they slowly turned to Spaceboy, their eyes were wide, red and filled with tears. “Avery… are you okay?” Avery said nothing, all they could do was stare. Spaceboy could see how terrified they were, he felt his stomach drop at their current appearance, their hair was a mess, their breathing was heavy and their body was drenched in sweat. “Stars… what happened?” He mumbled in concern, Spaceboy had never seen Avery act like this before, they looked shell shocked which just made him worry even more.

Silence filled the room as Avery continued to stare at Spaceboy, particularly into his eyes as if they were taking him in. Avery’s eyes were filled with nothing but anxiety… After a few seconds, Avery’s empty eyes softened and they clenched their fists tightly, before suddenly grabbing Spaceboy and yanking him close. Avery wrapped their arms around him and buried their face into Spaceboys chest. Spaceboy jumped at the sudden embrace and his arms flew up in surprise, he was about to say something but… then he heard Avery loudly sobbing and noticed that they had started hyperventilating. Spaceboys expression softened and he wrapped his arms around his partner, looking down at them with concern and sorrow. “Hey, hey… it’s okay Avery...” Spaceboy spoke, his voice barely above a whisper. “‘I’m sorry… I’m SO sorry!” Avery cried out, tears streaming down their pale face as their eyes squeezed shut. “Huh? What are you…” “I should have been there! I shouldn’t have gone to work that day!” Avery coughed out, choking on their own tears, devolving into incoherent cries, coughs and sputters. Spaceboys eye widened as he suddenly realised what was up, he looked down at the top of Avery’s head, they kept repeating how sorry they were in choked up sobs. “Oh Avery…” Spaceboy sighed, he slowly but surely tilted their head up with both hands. Avery looked up at him, their eyes were red and puffy and they felt as if their throat was constricted. It was so much harder to breathe than normal. “Okay, what we’re going to do is breathe together. All you have to do is do what I do. Alright?” Spaceboy instructed, wiping their tears away with his thumbs, his heart ached as he saw how upset Avery was, it pained him to see them blame themself for his mistakes.

Avery nodded slowly, they were shaking all over and they were clutching onto Spaceboy tightly. Spaceboy held both sides of their face with his hands as gentle as he could be. “Alright, good. Just… copy me okay? Breathe in…” Spaceboy and Avery both breathed in air through their noses, for four seconds to be precise. “Hold.” They held their breath for four seconds. “Breathe out.” They exhaled through their mouths for four more seconds. “Good, just keep doing that for me okay? You’re doing great.” Spaceboy gave them a reassuring smile, holding them close and pecking the top of their head gently. “Keep doing that okay? It’s supposed to help, I think.” Spaceboy said, looking down at Avery to make sure they didn’t freak out again. “…okay…” Avery mumbled, repeating the breathing pattern. In… hold… out. In…hold…out.

Minutes passed, Avery’s heart rate eventually started to slow back to normal and they weren’t as pale anymore. They still looked… disturbed though. Spaceboy was right there the whole time, cradling them in his arms and reassuring them, he looked into those pretty blue eyes that he adored and finally spoke. “Feel better?” He asked, Avery hummed in response. “Yeah, a little…” Spaceboy nodded, gently placing a hand on their cheek. “Good… that’s good.” Said Spaceboy, Avery sighed, they held Spaceboys hand against their cheek and closed their eyes. “I’m glad that you're safe captain…” Avery mumbled, squeezing his hand gently. Spaceboy stared for a moment, even if they felt a little better… he was still concerned. “Do you want to tell me what happened?” Spaceboy asked, his voice was so gentle, he didn’t want to stress Avery out after all. Avery thought for a moment, before pulling away from him and rubbing their wrists nervously as they stared down at the bathroom tiles. “Maybe when my mouth doesn’t taste like vomit.” Avery smiled weakly, Spaceboy nodded in response and returned the soft smile. “Okay, you freshen up while I get you some water, yeah?” He placed a gentle kiss on their hand before standing up. As he was about to leave the room he looked back at Avery for a moment before leaving the room. Avery sighed, they felt bad for walking Spaceboy up but… maybe it was for the best. They stood up and went to the sink, grabbed their toothbrush and the toothpaste and began to brush their teeth, the minty flavour of the toothpaste was nice and did a good job of getting that horrible taste out of their mouth.

Spaceboy switched on the lights to the kitchen, sighing softly and walking in. He opened up one of the cabinets and got out a glass, one of the many that was in the cabinet, he went over to the sink and turned the tap on, water gushing out and into the glass. As the glass filled with water, his mind wandered off. Just moments ago he had witnessed Avery having a nightmare. He remembered waking up abruptly and looking over to Avery, only to see them crying in their sleep. Spaceboy sighed at the thought, his expression shifting to one of sorrow. He felt shitty that Avery was suffering because of his own mistakes, they didn’t deserve that. Not one bit. They were so… amazing, too wonderful to even put into words. Spaceboy wanted to see them happy again, he smiled just the tiniest bit at the thought of them smiling again, it warmed his heart. As he stared off into space, he jumped at the sudden sensation of the cold water hitting his skin, he hadn’t even realised the glass had overflowed with water. Spaceboy quickly turned the tap off and poured some of the water out, he wiped the water that had gotten on his hand on his shirt, which left a little water stain and he started to make his way back to the bathroom, Spaceboy had decided right then and there that he was gonna do his best to make them smile again.

By now Avery had finished brushing their teeth, they were sitting on the edge of the bath and staring at the floor, doing those breathing methods to try and calm down a bit more. Avery’s gaze shifted from the tiled floor up to the door where Spaceboy stood. He walked over and handed them the glass of water, Avery smiled a little, a sad one. They took the glass and sipped, the cool liquid going down their throat helped soothe the burning feeling in their throat from retching a few minutes prior. Spaceboy sat down on the ledge of the bath next to them, it was silent. The captain was trying to come up with the right words to say while Avery just didn’t have that much energy in them to speak. “Do you want to talk about it now?” Spaceboy asked, looking down at them as he gently took their hand. Avery sighed softly, that image of him from that nightmare… it was still fresh in their mind, as if it had burned itself into Avery’s retinas and they couldn’t look away. “I’ll try, but I don’t think I’m gonna get through it without crying again.” Spaceboy frowned, he scooted closer to Avery and wrapped his arm around their waist to gently pull them in closer for a side hug. “I’m right here, don’t worry.” Avery smiled weakly, resting their head on his shoulder before sighing and starting to slowly explain the events of the nightmare, their eyes watering more and more as they kept on explaining.

“And… then I woke up…” *Avery finished explaining the graphic details of the nightmare, they glanced at Spaceboy, who looked the most worried and concerned he had ever felt in his life. Avery looked away, feeling ashamed of themself. Ashamed that their mind had created such a disturbing dream. They… they didn’t want to worry Spaceboy with a stupid freak but… they would probably go mad if they didn’t talk about it. They took another sip of their water without saying anything, they were too nervous to do so. Spaceboy sighed and looked down at the floor, leaning over a little as he did so. “Christ Avery… that’s horrible.” Avery nodded and put the glass of water down on the floor. “But… I’m here now, aren’t I?” Spaceboy asked, moving his hand over to Avery’s chin and making them look at him. “Listen closely, I’m not going anywhere. Not any time soon, alright? You can count on that.” Spaceboy wiped the tears that were silently rolling down Avery’s cheeks, flashing a small, yet tired smile at them. Avery shakily sighed and took one of Spaceboys hands in their own, squeezing it a little bit. “I…I know. I just can’t stop worrying.” Avery huffed as they rubbed their eyes tiredly, it was true. Avery has always been the type to worry about the people they loved, it was just in their nature to do so. Spaceboy admired that, he thought it was charming. But it also made him worry in turn. The Captain gently pulled Avery closer to him and cupped their cheek, brushing some hair out of their face.

“Well, that’s a good thing to me. You worry cause you care right?” Avery nodded, leaning into Spaceboys hand and smiling just the tiniest bit. “Yeah… of course I care. How couldn’t I?” Spaceboy smiled at Avery, he leaned in a little bit. “You care about me, that’s why you keep thinking something bad is gonna happen… that’s really sweet to me, Bunny.” Spaceboy smiled warmly at Avery, stars… he loved them so much. They were so sweet… ack, he could melt around them. “Spaceboy, c-come on…” Avery mumbled as they looked away nervously, their cheeks going red. “What? I’m just being honest… darling.” Spaceboy teased, gently pecking Avery on the lips and playing around with their hair. “Hm… you want to know the best part about waking up?” “What?” Spaceboy leaned in even closer to Avery, smiling even more. “I get to look at you…”

Avery’s eyes widened and they snorted, looking away and pushing him playfully. “Spaceboy… Be serious!” Avery joked with an amused smile on their face, that seemed to have cheered them up quite a bit! Spaceboy chuckled and brought Avery in even closer. “There’s my happy bunny!” “S-Spaceboy… you’re gonna make me go all red!” Avery laughed loudly as Spaceboy started to plant several kisses all over their pretty face. The captain hugged them tightly as he did this, not wanting to let them go, he was enjoying kissing them so much! Avery just laughed and snorted the entire time, squirming a little bit but eventually giving in. After a big batch of kisses were planted all over Avery’s face and neck, Spaceboy eventually stopped, he was grinning and he held onto both of Avery’s hands. “Feel better yet?” Spaceboy questioned as he looked into Avery’s eyes for an answer. Avery was smiling like an idiot and their face was entirely red, they nodded and crossed their arms. “Still a little shook up… but I think I’ll be fine to go back to bed.” “That’s what I like to hear.” Spaceboy stood up, holding his hand out for Avery. “I’ll be just fine, okay? If anything does happen to me… then you beat the crap out of whoever killed or hurt me alright?” Spaceboy joked, Avery picked up their glass of water and took Spaceboys hand without missing a beat.

Spaceboy led Avery out of the bathroom, making sure to turn all of the lights off as he did so… wouldn’t want to waste the electricity. Once they got back to their bedroom, Avery set the glass of water down on the nightstand and slipped back under the covers. Spaceboy joined them, once they were both under they immediately went into their usual sleeping positions. Spaceboys arms wrapped around Avery and he rested his chin on the top of Avery’s head, while Avery would cuddle up with him and press their head against his chest, just so they could listen to their heart beat… it calmed Avery down so much, to know that he was okay, safe and sound… they really did love him. Avery yawned and closed their eyes, feeling exhausted from the events of the night… they just wanted to sleep. Spaceboy felt the same way, he was tired…. But happy that Avery was doing better. “Mhm… I love you, please don’t die or anything like that…” Avery sleepily mumbled as they nuzzled his chest. Spaceboy smiled tiredly, placing a hand on the back of their head and playing with their hair.

“I won’t, starlight. I promise. I’m gonna fight for you and me in whatever way I can, alright? You can count on it.” Spaceboy gently kissed Avery on the top of their head, closing his eye. Avery smiled and cupped his cheek, leaning in for a soft, tender kiss. Spaceboys eye shot open at that, a warm blush spreading across his cheeks before he returned the kiss, holding Avery’s hand. A few seconds later they both pulled away, smiling at each other like the dorks that they were. “I love you, Spaceboy…” Avery whispered, moving their head back down to his chest and closing their eyes. Spaceboy chuckled softly and sighed, closing his eye and starting to drift back off to sleep almost immediately. It was two in the morning after all. “I love you too, Avery.” And with that… the happy couple fell asleep in each others arms once again, this time… Avery knew for sure that Spaceboy would be okay and Spaceboy… he knew that Avery was always going to be by his side… no matter what the future brought upon them.

“Oh shit! It’s Sea Bunny!” A gator guy exclaimed, pointing up at the roof of the bank with a frantic expression on his face. Sea Bunny stared down at the four gator guys, who were in the process of robbing a bank as their boss requested, tilting their head while stirring the remains of their slurpee with a straw, turning it into cherry red water. “Well don’t just stand there you morons! There’s no water here so they’re powerless!” Another yelled, taking her gun's safety off and pointing it up at the hero, ready to fire. Before she could even put her finger on the trigger, Sea Bunny suddenly jumped high in the air and onto several rooftops of different buildings. The gator guys started to try and fire their pistols at them, but Sea Bunny was hopping along each rooftop swiftly in a circular pattern. This kept happening before they jumped off of a roof, disappearing behind the building. “What the… where did they go?” A gator guy questioned, the group of criminals had their guns out, their eyes frantically darting around as they tried to spot the hero. Then, mist suddenly started to cloud the area, it caused the gator guys to stumble about and bump into each other, stepping on each other's feet and startling eachother.

“Hey… this mist kind of tastes like… cherry?” A gator guy said, sticking his tongue out. Suddenly, he was swept off of the ground by someone kicking his ankles, knocking him to the ground. “OW! Watch out you lot! They’re trying to take us out by surprise!” He yelled out to the other three before yelping as he was suddenly grabbed by the legs and dragged away, “OH SHIT!” He yelled out, as if to alarm the other three. The gator guys were now on higher alert than before, the cherry mist wasn’t clearing up any time soon it seemed. “Everyone stay close together! Sea Bunny can’t take us all out!” The leader of this gator gang yelled, two of the gator guys nodded and stood close to her, guns out and ready to fire. The gator guy on the left suddenly heard something behind them, they jumped and turned around only to see a pebble lying on the ground. They sighed in relief, thinking they were safe, but they were wrong. Arms wrapped around their waist and they were yanked away from the group, a scream escaped their throat. The cherry flavoured mist started to clear up and the gator guys could finally see again. “Alright.. Show yourself you masked freak!” The leader yelled, gun waving about as she had a scowl on her face. Sea Bunny suddenly appeared from behind the large truck the gator guys arrived in, hands above their head as they faced the ground. The gator guys were surprised by this… why were they surrendering? They both looked at each other and nodded, starting to approach the hero. “Good decision, the boss would just love to finally meet you.” The leader sneered, the remaining gator guy nodded with a low chuckle. “Not so tough now are ya? Little bunny.” They started to laugh, walking slowly towards Sea Bunny with menacing smiles.

Those smiles didn’t last forever though, footsteps came dashing towards the gator guys. They turned around and a fist came into contact with the leader's face, effectively knocking her out. Sea Bunny leapt forward and kicked the last gator guy in the back, pushing him forwards and Spaceboy managed to punch his in the face, knocking the last one out. “Stay down.” Was all they said, they sighed and looked up to their partner, grinning at him. Captain Spaceboy returned that smile, he felt his heartbeat quicken as Sea Bunny looked at him. “Nice plan bunny! I didn’t even know you could do that.” “Hah well, I’ve been practising some new stuff lately.” Sea Bunny grinned as they felt their ears warm up. Spaceboy looked at the two gator guys and back at Sea Bunny. “Heh… I’m glad we got to do this one more time. Thanks for convincing me to come along.” “No problem.” The two stayed silent for a moment before sirens blared in the distance.” Ah, the cops. I’ll hand these guys over to them, you go on ahead.” Spaceboy said, Sea Bunny nodded and turned around to leave, before hesitating, turning to look at Spaceboy one last time before jumping up high and onto a rooftop, jumping across several rooftops to get away from the police. Sea Bunny never liked talking to the police for some odd reason, they preferred staying out of the spotlight. Spaceboy smiled as he watched Sea Bunny hop away, he turned back to the two knocked out gator guys and started to put them in the back of the truck with the other knocked out gator guys.

Sea Bunny jumped down from a rooftop, into the garden and grunting as they did so. They sighed and took their blue rabbit mask off, running a hand through their hair and looked at the house before them, it was Spaceboys house. Avery actually had an apartment a couple of minutes away, but they pretty much lived here now given the fact that they hung out at Spaceboys house all the time. They made their way from the garden and to his front door, scanning the little card he had given them so the alarm didn’t go off. If it did, then Orange Joe and the Pink Delinquent would appear, that would be an inconvenience.The door opened and they walked inside, into the room the duo shared and started to change into more comfortable clothing. A black tank top with grey shorts. Avery glanced at the mirror and their eyes widened slightly, they had just noticed some of the bruises they got from fighting villains and there was quite a lot. “Yikes… I gotta be more careful.” They mumbled. Avery exited their room and to the living room sitting down on the couch, their legs were all wobbly from the jumping, not to mention they had jumped across rooftops for seven minutes straight to get back to their apartment, they were tired that was for sure. Avery heard their phone buzz again and they checked it, Spaceboy again. A bubbly grin spread across their face as they read the text.

Sb:Heyyyyy, I’m coming over now, mind if I come in through the window?

A:Hehe sure, can’t wait to continue our night together :)

Avery giggled and put their phone away, staring up at the ceiling with a goofy smile. “God I love him so much…” Avery breathed, hand on cheek as they thought about nothing other than Spaceboy. They let out a lovesick sigh before grabbing the remote and turning the Tv on and picking up the blanket that was laying on the floor, wrapping it around themselves and flicking through the channels. They kept doing this until they got to the news channel. They wanted to see if what they and Spaceboy did would make the news, and it did! “Hm, wonder what these guys have to say about what we did.” Avery said out loud, turning the volume up so they could hear better. “Four people presumed to be part of the gator gang have just been arrested by the authorities! The hero's Sea Bunny and retired Spaceboy were the ones to apprehend and stop these villains from robbing the bank.” Avery nodded with a rather proud smile, they were happy that the plan they thought of worked, they’d have to use that mist trick more. “Spaceboy told the police that tonight would officially be the last time he’d do any hero work, the retired hero said that Sea Bunny requested his help and if it wasn’t for them, these villains would have gotten away.”

Avery sunk back into the couch and sighed, staring at the floor. They were really going to miss working with him, all those nights where they’d run across rooftops chasing down villains and how they’d watch each other fight with amazement in their eyes. “Bloody sweetheart…” Avery angrily mumbled to themself as their grip on the blanket got a little tighter. Avery remembered the incident, it was when they were just friends. Spaceboy confessed his love to her and took a pretty bad beating. Avery remembered having to carry the poor guy all the way to the hospital since sweetheart left him with some horrible injuries, they constantly visited him and they’d talk for so long. Once he was allowed out, their bond had grown stronger. It started out with the two being best friends and hanging out from time to time to catching feelings for one another, Avery remembered the night where they confessed their feelings for each other as clear as day. They were both walking home after going to the last resort for dinner and Avery just outright said how they felt about Spaceboy, thank god Spaceboy felt the same way about them or their relationship would have changed.They smiled as they thought back to all those memories, from about a year or two ago, it made their face heat up and Avery sighed in happiness, they were just happy Spaceboy was doing alright now.

Avery stared at the tvs screen for a few seconds before they heard a knock on the window. A giddy smile spread across their face and they quickly ran over to the window and saw Spaceboy standing there with a smile on his face. They opened the window and pulled Spaceboy inside, their smile growing even wider. Spaceboy laughed as Avery pulled him inside, feeling his heart swell with nothing but pure love as he saw how much they were smiling. “Aw you look so happy, did you really miss me that much?” “Mhm! I’m pissed that those gator pricks interrupted our night together.” Avery huffed, they never did respect Bossman and his goons running around Faraway and causing trouble. Spaceboy chuckled and pecked Avery on the forehead and held their hands in his own. “Well at least we kicked their asses together one last time right?” Avery smiled gently and they felt their ears warm up as they held hands, they hummed and nodded. “Yeah. I guess so! Anyways, what movie did you want to watch again?” Avery asked as they both sat down on the couch, Spaceboy wrapped his arm around their shoulder and pulled them in for a cuddle, Avery smiled and rested their head against his shoulder. “It was that one with the two robots who fell in love with each other and went to space.” “Oh yeah! I think it’s actually just about starting.” Avery picked the remote up and flicked through the channels until they got to the right one, when they did Avery grabbed the blanket and wrapped it around the both of them, leaning back into spaceboy and resting their head on his shoulder.

As the movie went on, Spaceboy started to gently run his hands through Avery's hair, he knew that the other always liked it when he did that since it was something that always soothed them. Avery kept focus on the movie, they didn’t mind what Spaceboy was doing, in fact they actually really liked it. They felt so… calm right now, it was nice. Avery’s eyes slowly started to droop, they yawned and rubbed their eyes, it was getting pretty late now. Spaceboy looked down at them and smiled a little. “Hey, if you want to sleep then go ahead.” He whispered, his voice was soft as he made sure not to surprise them. “Mm, alright then. That just means you’ll be stuck like this.” Avery sleepily smiled, Spaceboy chuckled and he slowly started to lie down, pulling Avery down with him so their head was pressed against his chest, he took the fluffy blanket and made sure it was over their body so Avery was warm. Avery smiled and closed their eyes, their ear was pressed against his chest and they could hear his heartbeat. It was like a reminder that Spaceboy was there, that he was alive and well, it calmed Avery and they softly smiled as they felt Spaceboy running his fingers through their fluffy black hair again.

Avery opened an eye and looked up at spaceboy, he had took his fake eye patch off and was watching the movie, they noticed a little smile was on his face and they could tell he was enjoying this, Avery was glad they mutually adored this moment that they were sharing together since it made their heart swell with love, they hoped that they’d have more peaceful moments together in the future, Avery would fight for that for as long as they could. They knew right then and there that they truly loved Spaceboy and wanted to be with him for as long as they could, they made a promise to themself that night. They would fight every criminal, villain and maybe even hero to ensure that Spaceboy was safe, so that they could continue loving each other and being in each other’s presence, that’s what Avery wanted more than anything right now. Just to be with the one that they had fell head over heels in love with. “Love you, captain…” Avery muttered, they shut their eyes and listened to Spaceboys heartbeat, before they fell asleep they heard spaceboys words. “I love you too, Bunny.”

I have spent hours listening to the love of my life try to teach me what a cassette is, and somehow it seems that it spiralled off into talking about the meaning of life. However I do not understand either of them.

plagued with thoughts of a ghosts hero/villains au,,

so the general info is that it’s a modern setting with Empowered people living amongst regular humans. Empowered genes are passed through families and are about as common as seeing a red haired person, not all Empowered individuals decide to be heroes, however there are programmes in place that encourage children whose powers are developing to go down the path of becoming a hero. there are some exceptions to that, with people developing powers after traumatic events in life, or just because they’re a late bloomer.

one such late bloomer is alison cooper, whose powers developed in her early thirties. her ability is the power of ‘Sight’, she’s capable of perceiving what abilities other people have, for example, being able to see invisible people, or see the connection between a person with telekinesis and the object they’re moving. unbeknownst to her, an extension of the ‘Sight’ ability is to temporarily block another person’s magic, rendering them unable of using their powers for a short period of time.

after a video of her accidentally activating this power blew up on social media, alison has found herself being hunted by a team of rag-tag villains that have surprisingly banded up against her. thankfully she has the button heroes academy team to keep her safe. mostly.

“Mr Legacy”

Real name: Julian Fawcett

Powers: Telekinesis - The ability to manipulate objects without touching them, can be trained and maintained like regular muscle building, meaning he can only lift what he would be physically capable of picking up. Lifting multiple objects at once requires more concentration and control, draining his energy much faster. Trying to use his telekinesis on humans is considerably difficult as they tend to squirm more than inanimate objects.

Affiliation: Hero [Former Villain, previously allied with ‘The Huntsman’ during his young adult years until he was captured by authorities and had his identity revealed. Public backlash upon learning that that an aspiring politician was a Villain lead to Julian publicly enlisting at the Button Academy for Empowered Youths where he then trained and graduated as a legal hero to reclaim his reputation. Julian is one of the few heroes whose identity is known by the public]

“Skipper”

Real name: Patrick ‘Pat’ Butcher

Powers: Healer - The ability to heal any non-fatal wound, by initiating physical contact between himself and the wounded area, Pat can heal anything from scrapes to severe burns. Larger wounds take more energy out of him, and leave him with a lot of the symptoms (pain, nausea, confusion, etc) for a few hours. More complicated issues such as poison or internal damage can additionally provide a challenge for Pat due to their complexity. Unfortunately, Pat cannot bring back the dead, nor can he replace missing limbs or organs.

Affiliation: Hero [Standard hero, When his powers started developing early in puberty, Pat enlisted in The Button Academy for Empowered Youths, a facility aimed at ensuring children developing superpowers follow a path of goodness and morality. Naturally, Pat excelled at this and graduated as a legal hero by the age of twenty one]

“The Captain”

Real name: [Unk.]

Powers: Speedster - Able to shift between five modes of speed, however requires a lot of energy to maintain the faster modes. Normal - 4mph, Running - 20mph, ‘Sprinting’ - 50mph, ‘Racing’ - 250mph and finally, ‘Hotfooting’ - 750mph. The first two modes could be perceived as a faster-than-average movement speed, however the last three modes are visually quite obviously superhuman. Extensive use of his power has lead to The Captain gaining difficulties with his knees, however he refuses to admit that they’re becoming a serious problem.

Affiliation: Hero [Former Vigilante, previously arrested after attempting to prevent an Empowered individual robbing a bank, the altercation left his former partner, later identified as William Havers, dead. Following his case, The Captain then applied to become a legal Hero as part of a probation sentence. This information is not publicly known]

“The Grey Lady”

Real name: Stephanie ‘Fanny’ Button

Powers: Invisibility - Able to completely conceal herself from sight, with extra effort and practice she has previously been capable of also making others invisible, so long as they’re touching her. When she is unconscious or too distracted, her invisibility will not activate (for example, being in pain after receiving an injury), furthermore, if she remains invisible for an extended period of time (5+ hours) she will slowly start to fade back into sight.

Affiliation: Hero [Late bloomer, unlike most Empowered individuals whose abilities developed alongside puberty, Fanny’s powers activated as a response to trauma. After being pushed from a window for catching her husband in the act of adulteration, she was afflicted by random bouts of invisibility and as part of her recovery she spent some time at The Button Academy to hone her newfound skills. Once Fanny and the Academy were confident of her abilities she took the last steps of training to become a hero]

“Pantomime”

Real name: Thomas Thorne

Powers: Pathokinesis - The ability to manipulate other’s emotions and occasionally completely drain them. Thomas can exacerbate the effects of existing emotions, such as boosting simple happiness into elation or discontent into sorrow. Although slightly more difficult, Thomas can also sometimes make others feel a completely different, random emotion, for example: making an angry person feel suddenly confused. As afore mentioned, Thomas can also drain people’s emotions, however it comes with the added drawback of Thomas himself having to absorb part of the emotions. For example, if he were to get rid of someone’s sadness he would then carry it himself, or if he were to take away their bravery and confidence he would then receive their boost. As ‘repayment’ for help through his withdrawals, Francis makes Thomas take away any emotions he deems unnecessary, leading to Thomas frequently carrying around Francis’ emotional baggage (perhaps the reason behind his frequent ‘signature’ moods and dramatic fits).

Affiliation: Villain [Unaware, while going through puberty, Thomas was unaware that he had developed powers until his mid-twenties, only figuring it out with Francis’ help. By that point, Thomas decided that attending The Button Academy would be redundant as he never had any issues with his powers in the past. Francis also aided Thomas through severe Fentanyl withdrawals after being shot during a bank robbery, by physically preventing Thomas from accessing the drugs using his ‘Puppeteering’ ability. Thomas then felt as though he was in Francis’ debt, leading to him reluctantly helping Francis with some of his dubious schemes. Eventually this lead to their eventual partnership with the other villains]

“Tempo”

Real name: Katherine ‘Kitty’ [Unk.]

Powers: Chronokinesis - The ability to control and manipulate time in isolated bubbles. Kitty can speed up or decrease the flow of time in small areas or within groups of people. These manipulations are often associated with feelings of confusion and in some cases nausea once the target realises their time isn’t flowing correctly. Kitty can move freely in these pockets of time, however her targets claim that being inside one feels akin to the way time flows in a dream, for example, not being able to run away fast enough or feeling as though a journey was much faster than it should’ve been. Kitty’s secondary ability is the power to completely stop an individual’s time, freezing them in place. This requires an immense deal of energy and concentration, however, so it’s not something she does frequently. Similarly, the more kitty deviates from the flow of regular time the more strain it places on her.

Affiliation: Hero [Standard hero, Kitty became aware of her powers very early into puberty and due to the strength of them she immediately enlisted at The Button Academy to gain an understanding and control over her abilities. She graduated as a hero at twenty one and joined the team of heroes immediately after. Although Kitty is generally quite adverse to fighting she still acts as defence and support to the team, often slowing down Villain’s attacks so that the heroes can get out of the way. Kitty is unaware of Eleanor’s status as a Villain, however Eleanor is aware that Kitty is a hero, worsening their relationship further.

“The Witch”

Real name: Mary [Unk.]

Powers: Pyrokinesis - The ability to produce and wield flames, alongside resistance to fire. Mary can produce flames from anywhere in her body, however for ease she typically defaults to her hands or mouth in a dragon-like display of firing flames. She can also manipulate existing fires, either exacerbating or subduing them depending on what the situation calls for. To survive her abilities, Mary also has a resistance to flames, heat and smoke, which she utilises greatly when subduing villains by creating an inferno only she can traverse through.

Affiliation: Hero [Late bloomer, like Fanny, Mary did not develop any powers until her later years. When trapped in a house fire, Mary’s pyrokinetic abilities manifested as a result of the adrenaline and trauma, however it would take her several years before she could even bare to consider training her abilities. Due to the destructive nature of pyrokinesis, however, Mary was eventually forced into learning how to control her abilities at The Button Academy, and some years later graduated as an official hero]

“Headless Horseman”

Real name: Humphrey Bone

Powers: Teleportation - The ability to immediately transport himself anywhere within a five mile radius so long as he has a decent mental image of the place or otherwise a strong connection tying him there. Humphrey is capable of bringing up to four other people with him, however from five upwards objects and articles of clothing attached to the outer-most people have been known to go missing. Humphrey refuses to bring six people with him for fear of losing an entire person to the void. When bringing people, Humphrey’s distance range will fall down to three miles, any further than that increases the chance of losing objects. Humphrey requires approximately three seconds to orient himself between each teleportation. If he tries to teleport to another location in less than three seconds there is a heightened chance of him ending up somewhere completely different and random.

Affiliation: Hero [Standard hero, Humphrey’s powers developed a little later in puberty, however due to the relative ease he had learning how to control them he still managed to graduate from The Button Academy at twenty one, joining the hero league. Humphrey was unaware of Robin’s powers developing as he grew up, and only became aware that he was Empowered at all after being assigned to capture a ‘new rogue vigilante’. That vigilante happened to be Robin, with Humphrey discovering his identity on the very first mission he was sent out on to catch him. Being brothers, the two reached a ‘Tom and Jerry’-esque arrangement in which Humphrey would continue ‘failing’ at capturing Robin to ensure that some other hero wouldn’t do the job for him and get Robin arrested]

“Shockfactor”

Real name: Robin Bone

Powers: Electrokinesis - The ability to wield and manipulate lightning. Like Mary, Robin can both produce his own lightning, and control existing bolts in thunderstorms. His electric shocks can range from small zaps to strikes equivalent to natural lightning capable of stopping a grown man’s heart. When Robin is charging a bolt, people have noted feeling the fine hairs on their arms and the backs of their necks to rise and the taste of ozone in the back of their throat.

Affiliation: Vigilante [Hidden, Robin was entirely aware of his abilities growing up, however for reasons of personal privacy he simply kept them to himself, not even telling his own twin given Humphrey’s inability to keep a secret. Robin would frequently sneak out into the woods to learn how to control his powers, only entering the ‘hero’ scene once he had a complete grasp on his skills. However, due to his somewhat dubious moral compass, Robin was restricted to life as a vigilante, knowing he wouldn’t be able to flourish under the strict rules and regulations of regular Heroes]

Affiliation: Villain [Unk., the only information Button House Academy has on the elusive ‘Control’ is that he’s building a large alliance of Villains and has a keen interest in Alison Cooper

“Puppeteer”

Real name: Francis Button

Powers: Biological manipulation - Colloquially known as ‘Puppeteering’, Francis has the ability to physically control the actions of others as though they were puppets on a string. Those with a strong constitution and will are harder to control, with some people even managing to force his presence out of their bodies, regaining free-will. Francis used this ability to physically prevent Thomas from taking Fentanyl while trying to wean himself off of the drug, this bond now means Francis can take control of Thomas at any point, regardless of permission, and Thomas is essentially incapable of stopping him.

Affiliation: Villain [Hidden, Francis developed and became aware of his powers during puberty, however recognised the depth of his abilities and decided to keep them to himself, knowing that if he attended The Button Academy for Empowered Youths he would essentially be forced into becoming a hero. As he became older, Francis dabbled in the darker side of his abilities, using them for personal gain and committing crimes that steadily worsened in severity, dragging Thomas with him]

“Lady Beguile”

Real name: Eleanor [Unk.]

Powers: Illusionist - The ability to create illusions or induce hallucinations in others, through practice, Eleanor has honed her illusion skills to a near-perfect replica of reality, however these images can be broken if someone simply tries to interact with them. When creating larger-scale illusions, Eleanor struggles to maintain the detail, a peculiar lack of texture or jumbled images can be a tell-tale giveaway of one of her traps.

Affiliation: Villain [Unaware, Like others, Eleanor passed through puberty assuming she was powerless, creating a division between Kitty (who had begun showing obvious signs of Empowerment) and herself, Eleanor began to resent her sister and, unknowingly, had started using her powers against her. Eleanor would subconsciously use her abilities against Kitty to create illusions of bugs or other horrible things that only she could see, making Kitty ‘the girl who cried wolf’ whenever she went to a parent or caretaker for help. Throughout her later teenage years Eleanor eventually realised her power, and used it more deliberately to consistently get her own way]

Real name: Lucy [Unk.]

Powers: Telepathy - The ability to read into the minds of others, Lucy can hear the thoughts of others around her as though they were regular voices. Careful management over the years has allowed her to tune out regular thoughts as mere background noise, however spending extended periods of time in busy areas can cause painful migraines. When focusing on one individual, Lucy can search through the information of their mind, regardless of whether they’re actually thinking of it or not, she can be blocked though if the individual realises she’s in their mind.

Affiliation: Villain-adjacent [Hired, unlike the other official Villains that make up Control’s alliance, Lucy has no interest in becoming a public, well known Villain, she was simply hired by Control for her abilities and disregard for moral standards. Lucy has zero obligations to the other Villains and is simply waiting for her paycheck so that she can leave the whole operation behind her]
